PSALM 23 ( in multi versions, multi language, multi fonts)

Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want.

Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

2 He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.

3 He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.

4 Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with [a]oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.

6 Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

Footnotes

Psalm 23:5 It is difficult for those living in a temperate climate to appreciate, but it was customary in hot climates to anoint the body with oil to protect it from excessive perspiration. When mixed with perfume, the oil imparted a delightfully refreshing and invigorating sensation. Athletes anointed their bodies as a matter of course before running a race. As the body, therefore, anointed with oil was refreshed, invigorated, and better fitted for action, so the Lord would anoint His “sheep” with the Holy Spirit, Whom oil symbolizes, to fit them to engage more freely in His service and run in the way He directs—in heavenly fellowship with Him.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

for You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Bengali : Holy Bible

23:1 The Lord is my shepherd.

     I will always have what I desire.[a]

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.

3 He restores my soul to the glory of his name.

Cebuano: Salmo 23

3 Gilig-on mo ako.

Ang imong pagpanalipod ug paggiya[a] nagapalig-on kanako.

Psalm 23

The Word of God

The Lord is like a Shepherd

1 You, Lord, are my shepherd,

and I shall not want.

2 You make me lie down like a sheep in a green pasture,

and you lead me beside the still waters.

3 You strengthen me.

You lead me in the right path, so that I may be honored.

4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I will not fear, for you are with me.

Your protection and guidance[a] make me strong.

5 You prepare a banquet for me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil like a guest of honor.

And you fill me with drink.

6 I know that your goodness and your love will continue with me all my life.

And I will dwell[b] in your house,[c] Lord, forever.[d]

Footnotes

a. 23:4 protection and guidance: literally, the two tools of the shepherd that he uses to protect and guide the sheep.

b. 23:6 dwell: This is the Septuagint; but in Hebrew, will return.

c. 23:6 house: Perhaps the meaning is, the temple;  or, the dwelling place of God in heaven.

d. 23:6 forever: or, forever.

23 Žalm:

1 Hospodin je můj pastýř,

nic mi neschází.

2 Na zelených loukách mi dává spočinout,

ke klidným vodám mě přivádí,

3 mou duši obnovuje,

po stezkách spravedlnosti vodí mě

pro jméno své.

4 I kdybych měl jít údolím stínu smrti,

ničeho zlého se nebojím,

neboť ty se mnou jsi:

5 Před zraky protivníků

stůl mi prostíráš,

hlavu mi olejem potíráš,

můj kalich přetéká.

Herren er min hyrde

23 En sang af David.

1 Herren er min hyrde,

    han sørger altid for mig.

2 Han leder mig til grønne enge

og fører mig til det friske vand.

3 Han redder mig, når jeg går fejl,

og leder mig ind på rette vej,

for han er en god og trofast Gud.[a]

4 Skal jeg end vandre gennem dødsskyggens dal,

har jeg dog intet at frygte,

for du går ved min side,

din kæp og din stav beskytter mig.

5 Du dækker bord for mig

    for øjnene af mine fjender.

Du gør mig til æresgæst

og fylder mit bæger til randen.

6 Din godhed og trofaste nåde

    følger mig livet igennem.

Og jeg får lov at bo i dit hus,

    så længe jeg lever.

Footnotes

a. 23,3 Mere ordret: „for sit navns skyld.”

Psalm 23

The Bible in English (BPH)

The Lord is my shepherd

23 A song of David.

1 The Lord is my shepherd,

    he always provides for me.

2 He leads me to green pastures

    and beside fresh waters

He rescues me when I stumble

and leads me in the right path

For he is a good and faithful God.[a]

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

   I will fear nothing,

 for you are with me,

your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You make me an honored guest

and fill my cup to the brim.

6 Your goodness and faithful love

shall follow me all the days of my life.

And I will dwell in your house,

    as long as I live.

Footnotes

a. 23,3 More literally: “for his name’s sake.” In Hebrew, the name indicates the person’s nature and character, and here it is God’s goodness and faithfulness as a shepherd that is in mind. His name and reputation would suffer if he did not show his goodness and faithfulness.

5 I mine Fjenders Påsyn dækker du Bord for mig, du salver mit Hoved med Olie, mit Bæger flyder over.
