9. Write a letter to your child

How wonderful it is to be able to write someone a letter! To feel like conveying your thoughts to a person, to sit at your desk and pick up a pen,  to put your personal thoughts into words like this is truly marvelous.

At the end , I always ask if parents have ever told their children how they as parent felt about them as children. Quite naturally, not many of parents have; parents find it uncomfortable expressing their feelings to their children, especially when the children are older, above 18 years old.

Yet, based on my numerous interactions with the many children, I have come to realize that children long and yearn to know how their parents feel about them. remember, children are driven by emotions, and any parental action that adds to the child's emotional tank will unveil untold psychological benefits to the child. But it can be uncomfortable for a father to express his deepest thoughts, especially those of an emotional nature, to his child face to face.

There is an alternative though. writing a letter to your child can be a very powerful way of conveying your innermost thoughts and feelings.

Never underestimate the tremendous effect that a parental letter can have on your child. I have written letters to both of my children and have personally witnessed the impact.

What do you write about in a letter to your child? For starters, avoid lecturing, criticisms or even suggestions on how they can improve their lives. Rather, express your gratitude at having them in your life. Like, "child thank you be being born." Tell them the positive traits you appreciate in them, both character and personality ones, and be specific.
