Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) will have a major effect on US healthcare discourse.
1) Wellness Will Be Front and Center
The RFK Jr. Effect will be real. People will begin wondering why we normalized overeating processed foods and consuming high volumes of neurotoxic alcohol and marijuana. Heretofore fringe ideas about wellness and disease causation and medications will continue to go mainstream. Traditional allopathic medicine and public health will be on non-stop defense. Doctors, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists will have to do more than ever before to continue to encourage adherence to medicines about which the public will be more skeptical than ever (with the exception, of course, of Ozempic and other GLP1s!). The average member of the American public will increasingly see all parts of traditional healthcare as part of a corrupt medical industrial complex until, of course, they have a genuine healthcare need. Then, and only then, the “corrupt” medical industrial complex will be “heroic” again for an occasional moment or two.

2) Misinformation Will Get (Much) Worse
Coming off the pandemic, a whole swath of American society has de-credentialed the medical profession. And there is no easy pathway back to a place where physicians and other healthcare professionals are fully trusted for their knowledge and, more importantly, their judgment. Logging on to X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter, you get the feeling that everyone is an MD and a PhD these days with the confidence to make claims that once required clinical experience and data and analysis. Rebuilding trust in health institutions will require a grassroots Manhattan project-style effort that engages frontline staff and leaders across sectors—pharma, managed care, medical specialty societies, hospitals, medical groups. They will have to articulate and, more importantly, abide by a set of trust-building principles and behaviors that aim to restore confidence in health science and healthcare professionals. Unfortunately, given all of focus on transition of presidential administrations, I see little chance of that happening in 2025—but I am optimistic about future years.
President-elect Trump’s nominee for CMS Administrator, Dr. Mehmet Oz, is a big advocate for Medicare Advantage and is likely to look for ways to grow and enhances the program.
3) Medicare Advantage Will Make A Roaring Comeback
The last few years have been dark days for Medicare Advantage (disclosure: I lead SCAN Health Plan, a California-headquartered Medicare Advantage Plan with >280,000 members). The new risk model , affectionately referred to as V28, slashed revenues to plans. High STAR ratings—which are tied to bonus payments—have been harder and harder to achieve. And base rates have increased less than expected in an environment where there’s a lot of cost inflation. Not to mention unprecedented scrutiny of utilization management and sales and marketing practices. All of which has added up to a retreat from Medicare Advantage in some parts of the country. Enter the incoming Trump administration and Dr. Mehmet Oz, the likely new administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) who has been unabashedly supportive of Medicare Advantage leading up to his appointment. With a Republican House and Senate and Presidency, will they go so far as to push (as Oz has before—and, I have, too, for that matter) for Medicare Advantage for All? Will “repeal and replace” take the form of a broadened Medicare Advantage for All? Will “repeal and replace” take the form of a broadened Medicare Advantage program? I doubt it. Nonetheless, I expect that they will ease up the regulatory environment surrounding Medicare Advantage and make it an even more attractive alternative to traditional Medicare (which bizarrely still lacks dental, vision, and audiology coverage that is often standard in Medicare Advantage plans) over the next 4 years.
Because of the relative inexperience in government of HHS-nominee Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Jim O’Neill may end up as the most powerful deputy secretary of health in history.
4) Obscure Government Deputies Will Matter More Than Ever
With Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. expected to occupy the role of Secretary of Health and Human Services and Dr. Mehmet Oz the role of CMS Administrator, President-elect Trump has made something clear: he values star power over policy and bureaucratic expertise in the top administration healthcare jobs. This is not to say that Kennedy or Oz won’t drive change in policy. Both have strong, well-known perspectives on health and healthcare that will surely infiltrate US healthcare policy-making. It just means that they will rely on seasoned deputies to wrangle agencies that are large and complex and where unsexy minutiae can drive disproportionate impact on healthcare. And with agency leaders whose natural orientation is external—those deputies (Jim O’Neill at HHS and TBD at CMS) will wield truly unprecedented power over the shape of the divisions of government that strongly shape and defined the contours of US healthcare.

5) The Health Equity Field (As We Know It) Will End
Following the murder of George Floyd, healthcare organizations announced (some bold, some weak) health equity initiatives and many appointed chief health equity officers. The Biden administration’s signature healthcare initiatives over the last 4 years had health equity at the center. And every CEO in every sector of the industry was armed with talking points about what their companies were doing to reduce healthcare disparities and improve health equity. A few days after the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency was announced, Vivek Ramaswamy signaled that health equity is firmly in the new department crosshairs. He posted on X, “The latest HHS budget request mentions ‘equity’ 829 times, with requests seeking to address “racial equity and environmental justice” at the forefront. An efficient government has no place for DEI bloat. Time to DOGE It.” Health equity efforts are set to take a huge step back or, more optimistically, change form altogether in the new political environment.

6) There Will Be More Turnover at The Top
The year 2024 saw major leadership changes atop some of the healthcare industry’s biggest companies. Bruce Broussard departed Humana and was supplanted by Jim Rechtin. David Joyner replaced Karen Lynch at the helm of CVS. Look for more such changes in 2025 atop other healthcare companies big and small. Several long-tenured CEOs will likely be granted golden parachutes as an odd confluence of multiple industry headwinds are making these top jobs more challenging than ever—and boards will begin to look for fresh faces to solve old problems. This trend will apply to managed care companies, health systems, and startups alike. There may even be some early turnover in top ranks of government. Healthcare search consultants, or course, will have a banner year {an idiom that means a particularly good or successful period of time}.

7) Big Transactions Will Return
Almost a decade ago, US healthcare was captivated by Humana-Aetna and Cigna-Anthem mergers. Both of them failed and CVS-Aetna was later completed in the aftermath. Since that time, United Health Group has continued its buying ways (with Change Healthcare and Amedisys the latest examples)—but big game hunting has largely slowed down on account of fears that the transaction would get blocked by the FTC or the Department of Justice. The incoming administration is likely to be far more friendly to the “big transaction”—at least from some industry players—and so I would expect us to see the return of big bold moves of all kinds. Mergers (CigMana anyone?), breakups, and take privates will all be part of the landscape in 2025 in high volume. Look to Kaiser Permanente’s Risant to complete another health system acquisition as well sometime in 2025. Healthcare investment bankers will be busy!

8) The AI Revolution Will Accelerate
Artificial intelligence (AI) is finally ready for prime time. AI scribes are now everywhere and where they don’t presently exist—they soon will. Doctors are saving real time on administrative tasks. AI is now assisting with interpretation of diagnostic tests and providing meaningful decision support to physicians. Mainstream EMR vendors like EPIC and Cerner have major AI integration initiatives. Biopharma companies like Vertex Pharmaceuticals have pathbreaking AI and data science efforts that extend into all aspects of the business. And the price of AI is falling precipitously as competition ramps up. All of which means the AI revolution has begun in earnest. Heck, even the bluest of blue blooded institutions, the New England Journal of Medicine, has its own AI-focused field journal led by Harvard visionary Zak Kohane. There’s no going back and key aspects of patient care—not to mention healthare’s profound administrative bloat—stand to improve quickly.

9) Regulators Will Scrutinize Private Equity’s Role in Healthcare (Even More)
The implosion of Steward—owned by Cerberus Capital—has Republicans and Democrats alike asking whether private equity’s role in healthcare has gone a step too far. It’s one thing to see prices rise and service quality erode as a doctor’s office gets acquired by a profit-oriented healthcare private equity firm. It’s another thing altogether when the local hospital collapses—and threatens access to care for whole geographies. States like Oregon and California have put in place healthcare transaction review boards to regulate the role of private equity and healthcare. Look for these review boards to take an even more activist posture against these transactions with large swaths of the public (more aware than ever of private equity’s presence in healthcare) rooting them on.

10) Digital Health Will Continues to Spin
Lots of digital health companies were valued in the halcyon* days of Teladoc-Livongo. In the years since, many companies have tried—and failed—to drive revenues worthy of those frothy** valuations. (* Halcyon can be a noun for a mythical bird that calms the waves, or an adjective for a peaceful time in the past.) (**frothy adjective · of, like, or having froth; foamy. · unsubstantial; trifling; shallow; empty.)
The fundamental problem of digital health has been—and continues to be—its failure to meaningfully connect to the analog healthcare system. Winning companies in 2025 and beyond will be the companies that are able not just to compete with traditional healthcare—and continue to compete, they must—but to seamlessly bridge back to it when needed. A hard trick to pull off, but a few gems will announce partnerships in 2025 that do just that.

In the book "Acts of the Prophet" by Pearry Green, William Branham told his son Billy Paul that sharks would swim in downtown Los Angeles before he was an old man. Billy Paul was born in 1935 and should be considered a man in his senior years by now.

Capernaum never sank
Why does William Branham compare the sinking of Los Angeles to the sinking of Capernaum when, in fact Capernaum did not sink? In actuality, Capernaum was simply abandoned, and its ruins are on the shore of the sea of Galilee to this day. We know because we've been to Capernaum. The ruins are still there.
Los Angeles was to sink in a few days from now
In 1965, while relating a story about the Alaska earthquake, William Branham stated that Los Angeles would sink shortly thereafter - In a few days a great earthquake's going to strike on the west. And it won't stop. California, Los Angeles will sink. It's going down.
Note that this certainly seems like a failed prophesy. He said that the Alaska earthquake in 1964 was going to be the start of a series of earthquakes culminating with Los Angeles sinking. But nothing of significance followed the Alaskan earthquake in the United States. Why?
Pearry Green's Testimony
Pearry Green wrote the following on page 119 of his book "Acts Of The Prophet", with regards to a statement William Branham made to his son, Billy Paul: "Billy, I may not be here but you won't be an old man until sharks will swim right where we are standing." Billy Paul Branham died in 2023 at the age of 88 leaving this as another failed prophecy.
Documented cases of land sinking in L.A. prior to 1965

The concept of a great earthquake in California and part of it sliding into the ocean was not a new concept initiated by Brother Branham. The risk of LA sinking was well known and discussed in scientific and popular culture, as evidenced by the April 1, 1957 issue of Time Magazine[¹] that reported a partial sinking of Long Beach. This sinking was blamed on the excessive oil drilling in the area. It is also well known that Los Angeles lies on the 'ocean-side' of the San Andreas Fault. In this regard, the sinking of Los Angeles may still happen, as the instability of the land was well know and documented before William Branham's prophecy.
Los Angeles is one of the largest cities in the world. It is also one of the only cities in the world with significant active oil extraction within city limits. The sediment in the Los Angeles basin is up to 6 miles (10 km) deep, and includes the following oil fields:

Combined with the danger of existing fault lines that Los Angeles sits on, the potential for a devastating natural disaster is scientifically plausible.
Since the 1950's, oil producers have been pumping water into the earth to replace the oil they extract in order to stop the land from sinking. The only problem with this process is that water has different properties than oil, as residents of Daisetta, Texas learned in 2008 when the walls of an underground salt-cave (from which oil brine had been extracted) dissolved, creating a sink-hole 900 feet wide by 260 feet deep.[¹] Between 1932 and 1960 iodine was harvested from oil brine extracted in the Los Angeles basin - raising the question of whether the water being pumped into the earth is currently dissolving structural minerals under Los Angeles.
Joe Brandt's Prophecy
Pearry Green's Church also distributes the prophecy of Joe Brandt as proof that California will soon sink. We looked into this and found that a man named Joe Brandt gave a stack of old papers containing a prophecy he claimed to have written 1937 to Jessica Madigan on December 25, 1965, the date of William Branham's death. Jessica Madigan published a series of dreams and visions in a book called "Prophecies of Tomorrow" in 1966. Living Waters magazine then reproduced this prophecy in June 1969.[2] William Branham would therefore have been unaware of this prophecy, which is much more specific in its details.
What is interesting is that this 'prophecy' did not appear in 1937 when it was supposedly written. If you had a vision of catastrophic proportions, wouldn't you try to warn someone as soon as possible rather than waiting 30 years?

Thou city, who claims to be the city of the Angels, who's exalted yourself into heaven and sent all the dirty filthy things of fashions and things, till even the foreign countries come here to pick up our filth and send it away, with your fine churches and steeples, and so forth the way you do; remember, one day you'll be laying in the bottom of this sea. You're great honeycomb under you right now. The wrath of God is belching right beneath you. How much longer He'll hold this sandbar hanging over that, when that ocean out yonder a mile deep will slide in there plumb back to the Salton Sea. It'll be worse than the last day of Pompeii. Repent, Los Angeles. Repent the rest of you and turn to God. The hour of His wrath is upon the earth. Flee while there's time to flee and come into Christ." [²]
We find ourselves at this Christmas, just about like they did the first Christmas though. The world's just about to fall apart, as I preached on once somewhere, about a Christmas message, "The World Falling Apart." And the world again is just about to come to pieces. Look at the earthquakes over here in California. I predict before the coming of the Lord Jesus, that God will sink that place. I believe that Hollywood, and Los Angeles, and them filthy places over there, that God Almighty will sink them. They'll go beneath the bottom of the sea. And it's so much sin (You see?), it's the barrier. Civilization has traveled with the sun, from... And it started in the east going west. And now it's at the west coast. If it goes any further, it'll be back east again. So that's the barrier. And sin has traveled with civilization, and it becomes the cesspool of all ages. Things they do that--that human beings in any other age wouldn't have thought of such a thing. Women has throwed theirself to such a filth, till no woman in any age would've ever thought of such a thing as we do today. And then still call ourselves Christians. What a disgrace."[³]
Since that earthquake, there is a two or three-inch crack that come in the earth, starting in Alaska, goes around through the Aleutian Islands, comes out about a hundred and fifty or two hundred miles in the sea, comes back up at San Diego; takes in California, or Los Angeles, and comes out again just below the northern part of California there, a little place called San Jose, just below there. And this scientist was speaking, being on a interview. We was watching on television. And he said, "Beneath that is just a churning lava." And he said this; he said, "That is... A chunk will break loose," and said, "and it will..." And this inter--man on--scientist interviewing this chief scientist, said to him, said, "Well, that could then all sink?" He said, "Could? It's got to." Said, "Well, 'course, will probably be many, many years from now." He said, "It can be in five minutes from now, or it can be in five years from now." He just 'lotted five years. But just as I surely was standing there under that Inspiration, put judgment on that west coast, and then followed it right up here with the sinking of Los Angeles; she's gone! That's right.
And, of course, the Salton Sea is about two hundred feet below sea level, and if that big churning, that earth swallowing in like that, with hundreds of square miles, hundreds and hundreds of square miles sinking into the earth, that'll throw a tidal wave plumb to Arizona.[⁴]
Everybody running, and trying to get under trucks and everything else. It went back up again and clapped like a great thunder, went back up in the skies again, and come down again, and done that three times. And when it was all over, they come over and asked, "What did it mean?" I said, "I don't want to tell you, it was a judgment sign. In a few days a great earthquake's going to strike on the west. And it won't stop. California, Los Angeles will sink. It's going down. It'll slide right into the ocean." And two days after that, the Alaskan earthquake shook Alaska. Science: Going Down . . .
Geologists have warned the city of Long Beach, California , (population 303,000) that if it does not do something fast, most of its harbor district, centering on the powerhouse of the Southern California Edison Co., will sink far below sea level.
In the '30s Long Beach rejoiced to find that it was sitting on top of the Wilmington oilfield, the richest in California, which has yielded $1.25 billion in 21 years. The town, on Los Angeles' southern edge, grew black with close-standing derricks and loud with never-sleeping pumps, but no one objected much.
Down, Down. Then, inch by inch, a snake crept into this oily Eden. Surveyors checking their lines during construction of a Navy drydock in 1941, noticed that the ground had sunk a little. Long Beach sages, only slightly alarmed, suggested various causes. It was an earthquake, maybe, or the result of dredging and filling in the harbor area. Few liked to mention the obvious conclusion: that the sinking of Long Beach was caused by extraction of the oil that was making the city rich.
Up flowed the oil and down sank the city. Soon the Navy, Ford Motor Co., the power company and the oil producers themselves were building costly levees to keep the salt sea away from their doors. As the sinking continued, one or two feet each year, the earth began to move sideways. Pipes broke and gushed water, oil or sewage. Pavements cracked. Bridges had to be rebuilt to keep them above the water. Such work has cost so far about $90 million.
At last the threatened city looked its enemy in the face. The geologists' reports left no doubt: the Wilmington oil sands, more than 1,000 ft. thick, have no strong rock over them. When the oil flowed out, the sands shrank slowly, and the surface sank, forming a great bowl, 24 ft. deep and more than 20 sq. mi. in area, that now reaches from the business center of Long Beach to the boundary of Los Angeles.
The industrial harbor district is laced with dikes and retaining walls to keep the sea off the land. The Ford plant and the power station are protected by levees 20 ft. high. If nothing is done to stop it, says Geologist Frank S. Hudson, the sinking will continue until the center of the depression has sunk 72 ft. below high-water mark. If this happens, the harbor department alone will have to spend $60 million on subsidence remedies.
Reversing Sea Water. Geologists believe that Long Beach has two possible recourses, both expensive. It can stop oil production and thus keep the ground from sinking as much as it would if all oil were removed. This measure would be unpopular, and probably impossible.
The other alternative is to pump sea water down abandoned wells under high pressure to replace the oil in the sands before they collapse. Something like 900,000 bbl. per day will be needed, and the total cost is something that no one likes to think about (the pumps alone might cost $50 million). After three years of pumping, Long Beach might stop sinking. The land would never rise again, no matter how much water is forced into the sands. But pipes would stop breaking, pavements would stop cracking and dikes would not have to be raised every year or so.

Astrologers believe these alignments signal the end of an era, heralding widespread disruption and the collapse of traditional systems. While these interpretations stem from secular and esoteric viewpoints, they bear striking similarities to biblical prophecies about the upheaval preceding the Antichrist's rise.
Various New Age authors and spiritual channels have also spoken about 2025 as a key year for humanity. Figures like Dolores Cannon (2008) and others have suggested that this time will mark a shift in spiritual consciousness, with many expecting an "ascension" or "awakening" to a higher plane of existence. However, from a biblical perspective, these predictions align more closely with the rise of deception and false teachings that Jesus warned about in Matthew 24:24. The so-called "spiritual awakening" promoted by New Age movements could be part of the broader agenda to lead humanity away from Christ and into the arms of the Antichrist.
Matthew 24: ²⁴ For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
The Simpsons and Pop Culture Predictions
As 2025 approaches, Christians are increasingly turning to the prophetic promises found in Scripture, particularly concerning the rapture—the moment when Christ will rescue His church from the coming tribulation. Revelation 3:10 offers hope, as Jesus promises to "keep you from the hour of testing that is going to come on the whole world". This promise is understood to refer to the rapture, where Christ will take His faithful followers before the Antichrist fully rises to power.
