perspective on the significance of heart health.

 Conclusion

The physical heart and spiritual heart are interconnected in the holistic approach to heart health. Just as the physical heart requires care and attention to maintain its function, the spiritual heart also needs nurturing and care for overall well-being.

Like a garden that flourishes with regular tending, the spiritual heart thrives when given the proper attention and care. Embracing this holistic approach can lead to a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Before we pray, let's first take a moment to listen to God's word and then we'll pray together.

Do you know what truly matters to God? It's not how perfect you are. It's not how much you've achieved. It's not how eloquent your prayers sound or how much scripture you can quote. What touches God's heart the most is your heart. Not your outer image,  but the place within you where your real self lives.

The part of you that can't be masked or polished or hidden behind so-called good behavior. God sees that place.   God looks past the surface and reaches into the depth of who you are. And what God's looking for is not perfection. God is looking at your heart.

Heart's honesty.

Heart's desire.

Heart's openness.

A heart that says, "God, I need you. I want you. Even if I don't have it all figured out, I choose you."

That kind of heart moves the heart of   God. A heart that is humble. A heart   that is teachable. A heart that is willing to turn toward God again and   again, even after failure, even in weakness, even when the world pulls you in the opposite direction.

Because the truth is, God doesn't expect perfection. Yet, be you perfect, for your heavenly Father is perfect, says the Lord Jesus Christ to his disciples. This phrase, found in Matthew 5:48, encourages individuals to strive for spiritual maturity and goodness, reflecting the character of God. It emphasizes the importance of embodying love and integrity in daily life, similar to how God demonstrates these qualities. You, therefore, will be perfect [growing into spiritual maturity both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into your daily life], as your heavenly Father is good and perfect.

God simply invites you to come close. God invites you to keep showing up with whatever you're carrying. And let God do the work in you that only God can do. When we look at scripture, one of the clearest examples of a heart that pleased God is King David. David was not perfect. Far from it. He made serious mistakes. He failed. He sinned in ways that affected not just himself, but an entire nation. And yet, the Bible calls David a man after God's own heart. Why? Because David kept coming back. He didn't hide from God. He brought his failures, his emotions, his repentance, his praise, all of it to the Lord. He didn't pretend to be okay when he wasn't. He ran back into the arms of the One True God who knew him fully and loved him still. Just read the Psalms and you'll see David's heart poured out in every season. Joy, sorrow, conviction, celebration, longing, repentance. David shows us that what God wants most is not perfect performance, but honest  connection. Let us reflect on just a few of the verses from the Psalms that reveal the power and importance of the heart.

Psalm 19:14 says, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, oh Lord, my strength and my redeemer." David is saying, "Lord, it's not just what I say out loud. I want even the quiet thoughts inside me to bring you joy. That's intimacy. That's surrender. Psalm 26:2 says, "Prove me, O Lord, and try me. Test my heart and my mind." Here, David invites God into the depths of his being. David is not afraid to say, "Search me, Lord. Show me what I can't see. Shape me. Refine me." That's the posture of someone who wants to grow.

Psalm 51:10 says, "Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right spirit within me." This is one of the most famous prayers of repentance in the Bible. After his greatest moral failure, David doesn't run from God. He runs to God. He doesn't make excuses . He asks God to clean him, to start   again, to make him new. That's what a true relationship with God looks like.

Psalm 119: verses 10 and 11 says, "With my whole heart I have sought you. Oh, let me not wander from your commandments. Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you." David understood that the heart is not just a place of emotion.

The heart is the place where God's word can dwell.

And when God's word lives in your heart, it strengthens you to walk in truth even when life gets hard.

Here's something we often forget.

Everything flows out of the heart.

Everything.

Your thoughts, your emotions, your relationships, your responses, your desires, your decisions, they all rise out of the condition of your heart. That's why Proverbs 4:23 says,"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." In simpler terms, guard your heart carefully, intentionally because everything you do is affected by what is going on inside your heart. Think about that.

When you love someone, it starts in your heart. When you envy someone, it starts in your heart. When you forgive someone or refuse to, it's a decision that flows from the heart.

Joy, anger, compassion, selfishness,   courage, fear, all of them grow out of what you have allowed to take root in your heart. That is why it is not enough to just do the right thing outwardly. God is more concerned with who you are becoming inwardly.

He cares about the condition of your soil because good fruit does not grow from a hardened or neglected heart. So, how do you guard your heart? You guard it with diligence.

That means you check what you are feeding your heart. You pay attention to what is being planted inside you each day.

Every word you hear, every song you sing, every video you watch, every  conversation you engage in, it is all  sewing something into the soil of your  heart.

Ask yourself, "what am l allowing in?"

What am I meditating on when no one else is around me? What do l replay in my mind when I'm alone? What kinds of seeds am l letting grow in my heart? Because the heart is like a garden. And gardens don't stay neutral. If you plant truth through God's Word, prayer, and worship, then over time you'll see faith, peace,  compassion, and spiritual strength begin to grow. But if you neglect your heart, if you let weeds grow, if you let lies sit undisturbed, then bitterness will grow. So will fear, pride, insecurity, and confusion. So today, l encourage you, be the keeper of your heart. Do not just protect your heart from harm. Feed your heart with what is good. Fill your heart with what is holy. Speak life into your heart with the promises of God.

Let your heart be softened, shaped, and strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

And remember this, God is not looking for a perfect heart. God is looking for a surrendered heart. A heart that keeps coming back to God again and again, no matter what. So come to God today. Here and now.

Now, let us take a moment to pray together.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come before you today with my whole heart. It may be messy. It may be worn out. It may be hurting in places I can't even   name. But it's yours. Completely yours.

I bring my heart to you again because you are the only one who knows how to heal it. You are the only one who can reach the places in my heart no one else can see. The cracks, the wounds, the hidden corners.

You know it all. And you still want me. So l come and I place my heart in your hands.

Lord, fill my heart with your Holy Spirit. I need your presence to live in me, to   take root in me, to flood the dry  places, and bring new life where l have grown numb.

Breathe into me, Holy Spirit. You fill the any empty room in my heart. Sweep out the things that don't belong and settle in with your peace.

Give me a heart that is gentle and kind like yours. A heart that does not just love when it is easy, but chooses to love even when it's hard, even when it costs something, even when it hurts. Help me to forgive the ones whoʻve wounded me. Not because they deserve it, but because you forgave me first. I don't want to carry resentment. I don't want to be chained to bitterness.

I want to be free. And I know Jesus that freedom begins in my heart. Lord, l also lift up those around me who are hurting. So many people's heart are carrying silent pain. Some hearts have been betrayed, abandoned, mistreated. Others feel unseen, unheard, unloved. But you see them. You see the tears they have cried in secret. You know the ache behind their silence. And I ask, Lord Jesus, touch their hearts. Gather the broken pieces gently in your hands and make them whole again. Wrap them in your comfort. Hold them in your arms. Let them feel the warmth of your  nearness and the safety of your love. Let your peace cover all of us today just as you promised in Philippians 4:7, And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Yes, Lord Jesus Christ, we need your peace.

The peace that steadies us when we're overwhelmed. The peace that guards us from fear. The peace that holds us together when everything else is falling apart.

And Father, give me a heart that is ready to obey. A heart that says, "Yes, Lord, even when it's hard. A heart that trusts your leading more than my own understanding. A heart that chases after your wil instead of my own desires.

Give me a heart that chooses you over the world. A heart that is soft and humble, not proud or defensive. A heart that is willing to follow you even when it costs me something. Even when it means walking away from things I once thought I needed.   Create in me, oh God, a clean heart. Like David prayed in Psalm 51:10. l ask you to renew a right spirit within me, wash away what's unclean, tear out anything I've allowed to stay that does not honor you, whether it is jealousy, bitterness, pride, laziness, or fear. Whatever it is, Lord, remove it. I don't want to hold on to anything that keeps me from you. I don't want to live a lukewarm life. I want to burn with your holy fire again. I want my heart to beat for the things that matter to you. I want to wake up each day with a hunger for your  presence. Take away the distractions, the idols I have set up, knowingly or  unknowingly. You tear them down. Empty me of everything that competes with you. And fill me again, Lord.

Fill me with your love.

Fill me with your truth.

Fill me with your spirit.

Please, Lord Jesus Christ, don't let my heart grow hard. Don't let the disappointments of life make me bitter. Don't let unanswered prayers or painful seasons build a wall around my heart. I don't want to become cold or distant. I want to feel again. I want to hope again. I want to believe again. Soften me with your love. Water the dry places within me. Bring dead places in me back to life. Remind me of the joy of my salvation. Restore the wonder l once had. Light the flame again, Lord. Holy Spirit, I can't change myself. I've tried. I've made promises I couldn't keep. I've tried in my own strength and always fallen short. But I know now it's only by your grace that anything good can grow in me. So I surrender completely. I lay down my shame. I lay down every hidden wound, every secret fear, every sin l've kept tucked away. I give it all to you,   Lord Jesus Christ. The good, the bad, and the broken. Have your way in my heart. Tear down what needs to be torn down. Build up what needs to be rebuilt. Break the chains. Heal the memories. Plant new dreams. Restore joy. Teach me to love again. Teach me to live again. Make me new. Make me whole. Make me yours. I declare with all that l am. My heart belongs to Lord Jesus Christ. You are my Savior, my Healer, my Friend, my King, and you will always be worthy of my surrender.

Thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for loving me. For I give you all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise. In your holy and powerful name, Lord Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Dear reader, if this prayer has touched your heart, please say "amen" as a sign of faith. I pray that every blessing in this prayer is now upon you in the name of Lord Jesus Christ.

For you, May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
