Why do you say that health care is a common sense deficiency disorder?
Because if the 2nd and 3rd most essential nutrients are water and salt in the body, (the 1st being oxygen), wouldn't common sense tell us to check those levels first? Does your doctor ask you about your water/salt intake? ....caffeine/alcohol intake?
Our bones are hollow in the center (marrow) where blood cells are made. The marrow is covered with many strands of calcium salts, the way rope is woven together. Salt crystals are woven in with the calcium and these salt crystals are what make our bones hard, not the calcium.
27% of the body’s salt content is located in the bones. When the body requires more salt it can borrow it from the bones. When this happens, calcium is also removed with the salt making the bones thinner, softer and brittle. Sentences are too short and continue on the next line instead of being extended.
The human body is able to split the chlorine from the sodium as needed. Our blood requires chlorine as do many of our organs. The stomach uses chlorine to make hydrochloric acid required so we can digest our food correctly.
Our body also uses the sodium chloride as salt to keep the brain, spine, tears, bones, sweat glands, organs and blood topped off with salt. The body benefits from the other trace minerals that help keep the body alkaline and healthy.
Sodium is not salt. Salt is sodium chloride.
Sodium, potassium and chloride are electrolytes (special minerals) that dissolve in water and carry electrical charges anywhere there is water in the body.
These electrically charged minerals can freely move into a cell and back out again carrying nutrients in and removing waste products and excess water as to keep the cell balanced.
At the same time as these electrolytes move in and out of the cells making their exchanges, a delicate balance of potassium inside the cell must be maintained with a special amount of sodium and chloride to hold the potassium in the center of the cell.
Electrolytes are found in all fluids of the body and carry impulses along your nerves. This helps your muscles, like the heart and diaphragm, contract and relax.
Electrolytes carry glucose (blood sugar) into the cell after insulin opens the door
or gate for the sugar to be taken in.
Electrolytes also turn “cation pumps” that generate electricity which is stored in the Mg ATP and Mg GTP batteries of the body.
If a person loses too many of these electrolytes from having diarrhea or from taking a water pill (diuretic) they can become very sick and must go to the hospital and receive IVs of saline (salt water), dextrose (sugar water) and minerals.
Many of our beverages today contain caffeine that is a diuretic, acting as a water pill, causing a water shortage in the body. Nothing replaces plain water .
What salt does for you
Salt has many other functions than just regulating the water content of the body.
Here are some of its additional important functions in the body according to Dr.
Batman in his book, ABC of Asthma, Allergies and Lupus on pages 144-150:
Salt is a powerful natural antihistamine. The next time you get a runny nose or watery eyes from allergies, try drinking a glass of plain water, then put a pinch of salt on the end of your tongue and let it dissolve.
Asthma symptoms can be relieved by drinking one or two glasses of plain water, then putting a pinch of salt on the end of your tongue and let it dissolve. Try it next time… before using your inhaler.
Salt helps relieve “stress” symptoms.
Salt is important for the removal of acidity from your brain cells.
Kidneys will not work correctly without salt.
Depression and emotional problems are greatly relieved by taking more salt, drinking plain water, eating correctly and walking.
Bladder control problems and unintentional urine leakage could be helped by adding more salt into your diet.
Diabetics can bring down their blood sugar levels and reduce their need for insulin by taking salt.
Irregular heartbeats may be stopped by putting a pinch of salt on the end of your tongue and letting it dissolve.
Our digestive system requires salt to properly absorb the food we eat.
Asthma, emphysema and cystic fibrosis suffers can get rid of mucus and phlegm in the lungs by using salt and drinking plain water.
Gout symptoms can be prevented by using salt.
If you get muscle cramps (Charlie horses, etc.), salt may relieve them. Try putting a pinch of salt on the end of your tongue and let it dissolve.
Bones get their hardness from salt, not calcium.
Osteoporosis is mainly caused by not taking enough salt and water everyday
Salt is essential for preventing varicose and spider veins on the legs.
Are you having problems maintaining an erection, you need to eat more salt and drink more plain water.
Salt may help reduce a double chin. The salivary glands in your mouth sense your body is low on salt and produce more saliva. Over time, this increased production of saliva causes the saliva glands to “leak” in the area under your chin. One possible way to get rid of a double chin.
Taking salt and drinking plain water before exercising will help you to breathe better and sweat less.
Because there is potassium in almost everything we eat, salt needs to be added to our food. This will allow our body to maintain the proper balance of water between the inside and outside oceans of water in our cells.
In a study of almost 3,000 men that had high blood pressure, the men on a low-salt diet had a 430% increase in heart attacks when compared to the men who ate a high-salt diet.
Low-salt diets have also been shown to increase total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels and fasting insulin levels.

Muhlstein, a researcher with Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, and one of the authors of the study says, “What’s been discovered in the last few years is a significantly greater role for vitamin D. There are perhaps 200 different important metabolic processes that use vitamin D as a co-factor.” That includes heart-related function.
“A growing body of evidence suggests that low levels of vitamin D may adversely affect the cardiovascular system,” says Thomas J. Wang, M.D., assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. “Vitamin D receptors have a broad tissue distribution that includes vascular smooth muscle and endothelium, the inner lining of the body’s vessels. Our data raise the possibility that treating vitamin D deficiency via supplementation or lifestyle measures could support heart health."†
And the call for increased vitamin D intake continues.
In fact, in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 15 experts from around the world called for international agencies to “reassess as a matter of high priority” dietary recommendations for vitamin D because current advice is out of date and puts people at risk for deficiency. In fact, a review of the science indicated that the tolerable upper intake level for oral vitamin D3—which is 2,000IU in the U.S.—needs to be increased fivefold to 10,000IU per day.
James H. O’Keefe, M.D., director of preventive cardiology at the Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Mo., says, “Vitamin D deficiency is an unrecognized, emerging issue, which should be screened for and responded to. Vitamin D is easy to assess, and supplementation is simple, safe and inexpensive.”

Just reading your blog on mammograms. I found your link through my google alert on Gilbert Welch, one of my favourites.
I just think we are looking at the wrong end with the whole breast cancer issue. I recently wrote to my database saying that by the time a tumour shows up on a screening mammogram, it needs to be about 1cm, which takes an average of 8 years to grow to this size and is already 1 billion cells! Isnt that amazing. I challenge my women to think about the clues we notice before then. A long as we are looking for clinically detected cancers (the threshold is quite large), we will not change outcomes.
I offer a safe and comfortable breast imaging service to Australian women of all ages, as a way to monitor their breast health. As far as I am concerned, there are plenty of experts to screen, diagnose and treat cancer. I am happy to look after the other 95% of women who do not get it!

Just reading your blog on mammograms. I found your link through my google alert on Gilbert Welch, one of my favourites.

I was grounded and told to see my personal physician. He told me I needed blood pressure medication, but I decided I was not going on any medication yet.
I left upset, in denial. My blood pressure had always been 120/80. I got a second opinion weeks later after trying garlic, herbs, vitamins, exercise, meditation, and found it still a solid 180/100. He told me if I didn't go on medication, my heart would enlarge and I would have a heart attack or stroke down the road.
I went home, depressed. I didn't want to accept old age at 54. I was telling a friend about my situation when a retired chiropractor told me about your book ( Your Body's Many Cries for Water). He loaned me his book and told me to stop all caffeine for a week, drink ten glasses of water, and add 1/2 tsp (teaspoon)of salt to my diet.
I looked at him like he was crazy. I had been on a salt-free diet for years. Thank God for your book, Dr. Batmanghelidj, and Dr. Lee Hobson for his time and generosity.
My blood pressure is now 117/75. I'm taking no medication at all and I have unlimited energy at 58 years old. No more headache or lower back pain; sinuses are clear and no constipation.

Pain is a sign/signal produced by dehydration in the human body. Pain may be common but it is not normal.

negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA). This represents a
milestone in Singapore’s relationship with the EU, with whom we have

largest trading partner.
2 In the first 11 months of 2009, Singapore’s total trade with the EU

Abstract
We have evaluated the toxicity of four glyphosate (G)-based herbicides in Roundup (R) formulations, from 105 times dilutions, on three different human cell types. This dilution level is far below agricultural recommendations and corresponds to low levels of residues in food or feed. The formulations have been compared to G alone and with its main metabolite AMPA or with one known adjuvant of R formulations, POEA. HUVEC primary neonate umbilical cord vein cells have been tested with 293 embryonic kidney and JEG3 placental cell lines. All R formulations cause total cell death within 24 h, through an inhibition of the mitochondrial succinate dehydrogenase activity, and necrosis, by release of cytosolic adenylate kinase measuring membrane damage. They also induce apoptosis via activation of enzymatic caspases 3/7 activity. This is confirmed by characteristic DNA fragmentation, nuclear shrinkage (pyknosis), and nuclear fragmentation (karyorrhexis), which is demonstrated by DA PI in apoptotic round cells. G provokes only apoptosis, and HUVEC are 100 times more sensitive overall at this level. The deleterious effects are not proportional to G concentrations but rather depend on the nature of the adjuvants. AMPA and POEA separately and synergistically damage cell membranes like R but at different concentrations. Their mixtures are generally even more harmful with G. In conclusion, the R adjuvants like POEA change human cell permeability and amplify toxicity induced already by G, through apoptosis and necrosis. The real threshold of G toxicity must take into account the presence of adjuvants but also G metabolism and time-amplified effects or bioaccumulation. This should be discussed when analyzing the in vivo toxic actions of R. This work clearly confirms that the adjuvants in Roundup formulations are not inert. Moreover, the proprietary mixtures available on the market could cause cell damage and even death around residual levels to be expected, especia lly in food and feed derived from R formulation-treated crops.

DIFFERENT ROUNDUP FORMULATIONS LEAD TO EMBRYONIC, UMBILICAL CORD AND PLACENTAL CELL DEATH AND ARE POORLY ASSESSED
For the first time, the toxicity mechanisms of four different Roundup formulations were studied in human cells. They act at doses where they are not herbicides anymore. The cells were neonatal cells freshly isolated from the umbilical cord, or less sensitive cell lines specially used to measure pollutant toxicity. The various components of these major herbicides were tested because they are among the most common in the world. Their residues are among the major pollutants, and moreover they are authorized as residues contaminating GM foods and feed at the tested levels.
As a matter of fact, Roundup formulations are the most common herbicides used with cultivated GMOs. Roundup Ready soya, the main GMO imported in Europe for food and feed, contains Roundup residues. In this research, the formulations were diluted at minimal doses (up to 100,000 times or more) and they programmed cell death in a few hours in a cumulative manner. We also noted membrane and DNA damages, and found that the formulations inhibit cell respiration. In addition, it was shown that the mixture of the components used as Roundup adjuvants amplified the action of the active principle called glyphosate; one of its metabolites may be even more toxic. These effects are greatly underestimated by the legislation, which does not take these phenomena into account, but instead simply sets arbitrary contaminant thresholds in food or feed. The rules apply to glyphosate whatever its formulation may be, this is wrong.
The authorizations for using these Roundup herbicides must now clearly be revised, since their toxic effects depend on, and are multiplied by, other compounds used in the mixtures placed on the market; and glyphosate is only one of them. The detailed blood analyses of each mammal which has received this herbicide during regulatory tests before commercial release must be published immediately, since our research points to undesirable effects which are currently masked or hidden from scientific scrutiny.
This independent work was performed by Nora Benachour and Prof. Gilles-Eric Séralini in the University of Caen in France. WHICH SIDE IS THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ON?
Organic agriculture can feed the world, turn back climate change and make food production more resilient to droughts and floods. Organic agriculture can do it with biodiversity instead of biotech, greenhouse gas sequestration instead of emissions, natural pest management instead of toxic pesticides, humus-rich compost instead of fossil fuel fertilizers or sewage sludge, more family farmers and better conditions for farm workers.
The question of which agriculture model will dominate food production is a question we only have one opportunity to answer. Once a seed or animal variety is extinct or contaminated with foreign genes, we will never get it back. In an age when a billion people are stuffed while a billion people are starved, most people on the planet suffer from either poor nutrition, exposure to toxic ingredients, diet-related diseases, or all three. Tom Vilsack, USDA Secretary
Organic Consumers Association network members sent 100,000 emails to President-Elect Obama opposing Tom Vilsack's appointment as USDA Secretary, because the former Iowa Governor was a leading advocate for Monsanto, genetic engineering, and factory farming.
Unfortunately, Obama was not moved by our protest. The reasons we opposed Vilsack were the reasons Obama appointed him. Obama lauded Vilsack for "promoting biotech."
Michael Taylor, Senior Adviser to the Food and Drug Administration Commissioner on Food Safety
We generated nearly 40,000 letters opposing former Monsanto lobbyist Michael Taylor's appointment as a senior adviser to the Food and Drug Administration Commissioner on food safety. Michael Taylor should not be a senior FDA food safety adviser. The Vice President for Public Policy at Monsanto Corp. from 1998 until 2001, Taylor exemplifies the revolving door between the food industry and the government agencies that regulate it.
Dennis Wolff, the Next Food Safety and Inspection Service Chief?
So far, we've been able to keep former Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff (notorious for his support of Monsanto's controversial gene-altered Bovine Growth Hormone) out of the Administration, but he has been rumored to be in the running for Food Safety and Inspection Service chief. Dennis Wolff would be a poor choice to direct the Food Safety and Inspection Service. Wolff has no previous food safety experience and is best known for siding with Monsanto in support of its controversial gene-altered Bovine Growth Hormone.
Caroline Smith DeWaal, director of food safety at the Center for Science in the Public Interest would be a much better choice.
Now, President Obama has nominated two high-profile biotech advocates, closely connected to Monsanto and corporate agribusiness, to key USDA and trade positions.
Roger Beachy, Director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture
On October 5, 2009, Roger Beachy, long-time president of the Danforth Plant Science Center (Monsanto's nonprofit arm), became the chief of the USDA's newly created National Institute of Food and Agriculture (a nomination that doesn't require congressional approval). Roger Beachy should not be steering the direction of US agricultural research. Beachy is a long time Monsanto collaborator who heads an institute which was established by Monsanto and academic partners with a $70-million pledge from the corporation. It's effectively a Monsanto front.

How I used water to cure myself.

Several months ago I finished reading your fascinating book "Your Body's many Cries for Water." I truly have to say that I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it. Several of my friends and family members have also read it. My brother who has some medical background, has also read it, and he found it very interesting.
I have a medical condition called Polycythemia Vera. My body produces too many red blood cells. i am on medication called hydroxyurea. Also from time to time they have to do a phlebotomy on me. I was diagnosed with this illness about nine years ago when I was 33 years old, but my doctor said that probably I had the illness several years before that. It is a rare illness usually occuring in much older people. People of my age usually do not have this illness. Nobody knows what causes this illness. I was told perhaps stress has something to do with it. Also, I used to be a security guard for several years and I worked in factories and industrial sites and perhaps I was exposed to some chemicals or toxic materials. Over the years my condition seemed to get slightly worse. i was put on hydroxyurea. The use of hydroxyrea over an extended period of time can lead in some cases of leukemia and other illnesses.
About eight months ago I read your book and I started drinking more water. I drink about 80 ounces a day. Over the years I have also suffered from hypertension and I was under a lot of pressure from my doctor to go on high blood pressure medication. At first, my blood pressure was borderline but it seemed to be getting worse. I resisted as long as I could about taking the high blood pressure medication, but I don't think that I could have resisted much longer. I started drinking 80 ounces of water a day eight months ago. Several months ago I finished reading your fascinating book "Your Body's many Cries for Water." I truly have to say that I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it. Several of my friends and family members have also read it. My brother who has some medical background, has also read it, and he found it very interesting.
I have a medical condition called Polycythemia Vera. My body produces too many red blood cells. i am on medication called hydroxyurea. Also from time to time they have to do a phlebotomy on me. I was diagnosed with this illness about nine years ago when I was 33 years old, but my doctor said that probably I had the illness several years before that. It is a rare illness usually occuring in much older people. People of my age usually do not have this illness. Nobody knows what causes this illness. I was told perhaps stress has something to do with it. Also, I used to be a security guard for several years and I worked in factories and industrial sites and perhaps I was exposed to some chemicals or toxic materials. Over the years my condition seemed to get slightly worse. i was put on hydroxyurea. The use of hydroxyrea over an extended period of time can lead in some cases of leukemia and other illnesses.
About eight months ago I read your book and I started drinking more water. I drink about 80 ounces a day. Over the years I have also suffered from hypertension and I was under a lot of pressure from my doctor to go on high blood pressure medication. The New York Times has discovered chronobiology, including chronomodulated chemotherapy. The excellent science writer, Olivia Judson, PhD, in the course of a column on circadian rhythms, mentioned the influence that time of day has on the effectiveness of anticancer drugs. She also noted in passing that you can decrease your risk of breast and other cancers by sleeping in a really dark environment at night:
“Several of the drugs used in chemotherapy,” she wrote, “also have a ‘best’ time of day: give the drug at the right moment, and you can take a smaller dosage, get a greater benefit and have a lower risk of unpleasant side effects. Sounds good. But don’t forget: regular good sleep in a nice dark room can inhibit tumors, and may thus help you avoid chemo in the first place.”
Bravo! To my knowledge, this is the first mention of “chronomodulated chemo” in the Times and maybe is a harbinger of a more inquisitive attitude towards innovative treatments. Sadly, she fails to mention that Keith Block, MD, of the Block Center in Evaston, IL, has been practicing “chronomodulated chemotherapy” for years. Like most exciting new developments in cancer treatment, this approach has been thoroughly neglected by the leaders of the war on cancer.
In 2009, however, there was finally a conference at the New York Academy of Sciences on the topic of circadian rhythm disruption and cancer. Block, in his role as editor-in-chief of Integrative Cancer Therapies, published the proceedings of that conference in December 2009 edition of that excellent journal. Judson seems unaware of this conference or this publication.
“Chrono” is just one of the promising ways that chemotherapy could be made more effective and humane. There are others, which the Times has yet to discover.
I will repeat here the suggestions I made after I came back from the NYAS conference in June:
1. Avoid shift work, if you possibly can. Shift workers have more cancer than those who work during daylight hours. It’s unnatural for the body to be up and about in the middle of the night.
2. Sleep in as dark a room as you can manage. I installed blackout shades in my bedroom and immediately experienced better sleep. I also shut all doors that would let in outside light. (It’s dismaying how lit up the night is in most urban or suburban areas!) If necessary, use an opaque eye mask to block out light during the night.
3. Avoid blue or green nightlights, clock radios, etc. If you must have these devices, use red lights (since red light does not destroy your melatonin, which forms during the night).
4. If at all possible, do not expose yourself to light sources (by reading, watching TV, etc.) between the key hours of 2 am and 5 am. This is when you form most of your melatonin.
As soon as I greatly reduced light exposure during sleep I experienced several health benefits: I no longer have to get up often during the night and I awake more refreshed. I also have improved my general health and believe I have reduced my risk of cancer. That’s a lot of bang for the buck, especially for those who have in the past had difficulty sleeping. It’s worth trying before resorting to either natural sleep aids (such as melatonin supplements) or prescription drugs like Ambien (zolpidem), which can have serious side effects.

Pak Jam's wife Nur's health improved
Pak Jam, from Aceh, Indonesia came to Penang on 7 December 2009. His wife Nur was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) in July 2009.
Pak Jam said: When I was on the way to the airport bringing my wife home, I prayed that she would just survive her trip to Medan. Please do not die in Penang or at the airport. Coca-Cola is Christmas Killer
Don't take "Energy" drinks? Why?
"Energy"drinks are unhealthy.
Don't take them as a "sport"drink.
How healthy are "energy"drinks? They are high in sugar and caffeine and contain certain unnecessary "nutrients". They all contain caffeine in quantities that food advisers said were "undesirable".
For soft drinks, the maximum caffeine level suggested by British government food advisers in 1993 was 125mg per litre.
The survey (by WHICH? magazine) found that 2 brands sold here have 3 times the amount of caffeine found in Coca-Cola.
Local "energy" drink.
Are "energy" drinks here high in caffeine too?
The Consumers Association of Penang bought 3 brands -- Power Gold, Red Bull and Livita -- and tested them for caffeine. Their test showed that all of them have caffeine above the maximum recommended dose for soft drinks.
Based on the test results:
* Power Gold has 80.13 mg/240 ml caffeine (ie about 334 mg per litre). This is more than 2&1/2 times the suggested maximum level for caffeine in soft drinks in Britain.
* Red Bull has a caffeine level of 26.4 mg/150 ml (ie 176 mg per litre).
*Livita has 17.02 mg/100 ml (ie 172 mg per litre).
Drinks like these often claim to refresh and revitalise. Don't be duped again! You have been forewarned here. Livita for instance, has these claims :"refreshes", "fight fatigue fast". One can be forgiven for thinking that these are sports drinks or drinks that can be indulged in after a strenuous workout.
The real energy drink before and after a hard work or game is use 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt for every 1250ml of plain water.
Unnecessary "nutrients"
They are also claimed to have unique formula of added vitamins and nutrients like taurine (present in Power Gold, Red Bull and Livita) and glucuronolactone ) the labels of Power Gold and red Bull say they contain D-glucuronolactone).
Taurine and glucuronolactone are naturally produced in the human body, but there is no firm evidence to support their use as a food supplement. Also isolated elements supplements will never work for the body. Other synegitic elements in organic forms are needed for natural body usage.
We are advise strongly against using these drinks as "sport"drinks.
It is important to replenish fluid after exercise, but caffeiene in drinks can only cause further dehydration and any driks with high levels of sugar are absorbed into the human body more slowly than drinks with little or no sugar.
Even if you are not into sports, taking these drinks on a regular basis is not encouraged either, especially if you are already a coffee drinker or regularly consume foods or drinks which contain caffeine (eg: soft drinks, chocolates, etc).
This is because excessive caffeine can cause palpitations, increase gastric secretions, act as a diuretic (increasing urine flow) and cause gastric ulcers.
Excessive intake of caffeine can also caise insommia,cannot sleep, nervousness and poor performance. And caffeine consumption has been linked with cystic breast disease. Water cure :Drugs kill, the human body.
It is never too late or too early to revise and be wise again for the rest of our journey.......

Who cause Stroke in You? Yourself
DEHYDRATION: THE CAUSE OF STROKES
You are going to read how this doctor rescue his own sister from permanent stroke.
(In his own words):"Talking about permanent pathology, let me tell you the story of my sister Shahla. We are a close family, and there is a particular bond between my sister and me. There is about thirteen years' different between us. When we were studying in England, away from home and parents, I was in charge. Even in later stages of her life, whenever she needed to make a serious decision, she would consult with me. As a family, we emigrated to America when living in our homeland, Iran, became hazardous after the mullahs took over in 1979 and Iran became a theocratic dictatorship. Most of us gravitated to northern Virginia, USA.
Shahla is a hard worker and a most reliable executive, and although she had a lot of upheaval in her life in exile she has not lost her cheerfulness and enthusiasm. She had recently started smoking cigarettes despite my contrary advice. She had also taken a liking to a glass of red wine now and then. She had come to Virginia to work with my younger brother, who had established himself as a developer in the area.
In the summer of 1989, Shahla wanted to relax after a lot of turmoil in her emotional life. She decided to spend some time beside the pool of her apartment complex. She was also trying to lose weight. She would spend most of her free time and the weekends at the poolside in the sun. She would also take the occasional drink of wine as she was relaxing on her poolside mat - an ideal of many people who wish to have a quiet, relaxing holiday.
On a Monday morning after a weekend by the pool, when she was working at her office, she notice tingling sensations in her left arm. Gradually the left side of her body became heavy and not sufficiently responsive. She got scared and called me. She left the office and was driven home. By the time I arrive, her left leg and left arm were in a state of partial paralysis. She could hardly move them. She was now dead scared. After a quick examination and a call to a doctor friend, I started to force into her. I managed to give her two jugs of water and one jug of orange juice with some salt, about six quarts of fluids. (1pint=16 oz. 1 quart=4pints) Her anxiety began to diminish. By the time the doctor had arrived, her arm weakness had perceptibly improved and she also had some movement in her leg muscles.
You might think that I should have called an ambulance and packed her off to the emergency room of a hospital. I did not do so because, other than receiving an intravenous drip to get some fluid into her, i believe she would have suffered other damage in the time she awaited medical attention. Anyway, she improved and improved and improved. By the late afternoon, she was well in her way to recovery. However, we needed to find out if there was any underlying local pathology in the brain that might have signaled its presence by manifesting muscle weakness on one side of her body.
A consultation with one of the local neurologists was arranged, and we went to him for an in-depth evaluation. After his examination, he confirmed a slight remaining weakness in the left side. Shahla was admitted to the hospital. After all the blood tests and noninvasive procedures such as CT scans and MRIs showed nothing, it was decided to do a cerebral angiogram to rule out a leaking aneurysm in the brain arteries.
The procedure was conducted the next day. her brain arteries were as clean as a whistle. No aneurysm, no plague, no obstruction, nothing that would account for the temporary weakness on the left side of her body. They charged her thirteen thousand dollars (US$13,000) for three nights' stay in the hospital. She did not yet have insurance to cover such expenses. Needless to say, what rest she had at the poolside she paid for with her health and money. Why ? Because of a basically wrong understanding of the way the human body works.
She had severely dehydrated her brain by the intake of alcohol, heat of the sun, dieting without water intake, and the vicious cycle of the physiological events that are set in motion when there is severe dehydration. What her brain had done was to decommission a major part of its activity that would take her to the location where she could continue the damage-producing actions.
Even in genuine situations when there is a blockage of the arteries in a region of the brain, resulting in "rotting" brain tissue, adequate intravenous hydration has produced dramatic recoveries. In experiments in animals, if intravenous fluids are given within one(1)hour of blocking the main artery to a part of the brain that would permanently destroyed about 20 percent of the blood-deprived region, the rotting area will be reduced significantly. Such is the power of water in reviving even purposely oxygen- and circulation- deprived areas of the brain.
This was the reason why I forced water on Shahla as soon as I reached her. I thought that even if she had actually clotted one of the main arteries of her brain, the water would help open the surrounding capillaries and prevent expansion of the clot beyond its already formed areas. Equally, if the neurological manifestations were due to vascular spasm, then the water would relieve the constriction in the arteries -- and it did. There was no time to wait and see; a decision and an action were vital at the very moment that Shahla showed the onset of muscle weakness that was increasing. Today, she is well. She no longer smokes, and drinks wine only on festive occasion, but drinks plenty of water -- enough to give her lots of bubbly energy.
Edmund, the husband of my office manager, a very young man, had exactly the same type of paralysis and was taken to the hospital. His wife, Joy, was informed of the devastating crisis in their family. I was nearby when she received the information. I asked her if Edmund drank enough. Apparently he would seldom drink water. I asked her to get him to drink lots of water straightaway to prevent the damage from continuing. She did, and he recovered completely. It is now four(4) years since that episode.
The moral of these stories : Give stroke candidates lots of water -- if possible, before they actually develop clots and then neurological symptoms."

Brain Damaging Habits
1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
2 . Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our 20 body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.
6 . Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest.. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells..
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.
8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts

Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain .
