I Will Not Leave You Orphans

Chapter 7: Number 6: "I Will Not Leave You Orphans" — The Holy Spirit as Your Helper, Counselor, and Comforter

Number six, I will not leave you orphans.

The Holy Spirit as your helper,  counselor, and comforter.

These might be the most tender words Jesus ever spoke.

I will not leave you orphans.

Jesus knew the disciples felt something slipping away.

They had walked with him, eaten with him, learned from him, leaned on him.

Jesus was their teacher, their friend, their protector, their connection to God.

And now he was telling them he would soon leave.

Fear must have flooded their hearts.

Confusion must have shaken their thoughts.

Loss must have wrapped around their spirits.

But Jesus looked into their eyes and said, "You will not be abandoned.

You will not be left alone.

You will not be left without guidance or comfort or strength.

 I will come to you."

And he fulfilled that promise through the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is not an optional part of your faith.

He is not a distant force.

He is not a vague spiritual idea.

He is personal.

He is present.

He is God dwelling inside you.

He comforts you when your heart breaks.

He strengthens you when your courage fades.

He guides you when you don't know what to do.

He corrects you gently, pulls you back when you drift.

And pushes you forward when fear tries to hold you still.

He prays for you when you can't find the words.

He reminds you of everything Jesus taught so your heart does not forget who you belong to.

Jesus did not say the Holy Spirit would be with you.

He said he would be in you.

Close enough to whisper truth.

Close enough to calm your storms.

Close enough to lift you when anxiety tries to drown you.

Close enough to hold your spirit when the world feels overwhelming.

You are never alone even when it feels like it.

You are never abandoned even when people walk away.

You are never orphaned even in your deepest moments of loneliness.

The Holy Spirit goes where no person can go, He goes into the hidden places of your soul.

He comforts you in ways words never could.

He fills your emptiness, steadies your mind, and breathes life into your weary heart.

When Jesus promised the Holy Spirit, he was promising you constant companionship.

He was promising you strength for every battle.

He was promising you guidance for every confusion.

He was promising you love that stays even when everyone else leaves.

So when you feel lonely, whisper his name.

When you feel lost, ask for his guidance.

When you feel weak, lean into his strength.

When you feel overwhelmed, let him wrap himself around your heart.

You are not an orphan.

You are not forgotten.

You are not walking through life without divine help.

The Holy Spirit is your helper, your counselor, your comforter, your forever companion.

Number seven, my peace l give to you, ...( continue here )

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

¹⁵ “If you love me, keep my commands.

¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever —

¹⁷ the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

¹⁸ I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

¹⁹ Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.

²⁰ On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

²¹ Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

²² Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”

²³ Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

²⁴ Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

²⁵ “All this I have spoken while still with you.

²⁶ But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

²⁸ “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

²⁹ I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.

³⁰ I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me,

³¹ but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

“Come now; let us leave.

Here is the biblical key to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit into your being. ( Acts 2: 38 ,  “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ) Full study here.
