Female Bones versus Male Bones

 Female Bones versus Male Bones

What's the Difference?

Female bones and male bones share many similarities, as they are both composed of the same types of tissues and serve the same functions in the body. However, there are some notable differences between the two. Generally, male bones tend to be larger and heavier than female bones due to the effects of testosterone during puberty, which promotes increased bone density and growth. Additionally, male bones often have more pronounced muscle attachment sites, reflecting the typically greater muscle mass in males. On the other hand, female bones are usually more slender and have a slightly different shape, particularly in the pelvis, to accommodate childbirth. These differences in bone structure and size contribute to the variations in strength, endurance, and overall skeletal characteristics observed between males and females.

Further Detail

Introduction

Bones are the structural framework of the human body, providing support, protection, and mobility. While the basic structure of bones is similar between males and females, there are certain attributes that differ due to biological and physiological factors. In this article, we will explore the characteristics of female bones and male bones, highlighting their similarities and differences.

Bone Density

Bone density refers to the amount of mineral content in bones, which determines their strength and resistance to fractures. Generally, males tend to have higher bone density compared to females. This is primarily due to hormonal differences, with estrogen playing a crucial role in bone health. Estrogen helps maintain bone density in females, but its levels decrease significantly during menopause, leading to a higher risk of osteoporosis. On the other hand, testosterone in males promotes bone growth and density, resulting in a higher peak bone mass.

Bone Size and Shape

When it comes to bone size and shape, males typically have larger and denser bones compared to females. This is attributed to the effects of testosterone during puberty, which leads to increased bone growth and remodeling. As a result, males generally have broader shoulders, larger hands, and thicker bones in the limbs. On the other hand, females tend to have a wider pelvis to accommodate childbirth, resulting in a different shape of the hip bones.

Bone Structure

The structure of bones is composed of cortical bone (compact bone) and trabecular bone (spongy bone). While the overall structure is similar between males and females, there are some differences in the distribution of cortical and trabecular bone. Males tend to have a higher proportion of cortical bone, which provides greater strength and resistance to fractures. Females, on the other hand, have a higher proportion of trabecular bone, which is more metabolically active and plays a role in calcium homeostasis.

Bone Growth and Maturation

During childhood and adolescence, both males and females experience bone growth and maturation. However, there are differences in the timing and rate of skeletal development. Females generally reach their peak bone mass earlier than males, typically around the age of 18, while males continue to accumulate bone mass until their early 20s. This difference in bone growth patterns contributes to the higher risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, as they have less bone mass to lose compared to men.

Bone Fracture Risk

Due to variations in bone density, size, and structure, there are differences in fracture risk between males and females. While males have higher bone density, they also tend to engage in riskier activities and have a higher incidence of traumatic injuries, resulting in a higher rate of fractures. On the other hand, females, especially postmenopausal women, have a higher risk of fractures due to the decline in estrogen levels and subsequent decrease in bone density. Osteoporosis, a condition characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue, is more prevalent in females.

Recovery and Healing

When it comes to bone healing and recovery, there are no significant differences between males and females. Both genders undergo the same stages of bone healing, including inflammation, soft callus formation, hard callus formation, and remodeling. However, certain factors such as age, overall health, and nutritional status can influence the healing process in both males and females. Adequate calcium intake, vitamin D levels, and a balanced diet are essential for optimal bone healing in both genders.

Conclusion

While the basic structure of bones is similar between males and females, there are notable differences in bone density, size, shape, structure, growth patterns, fracture risk, and healing. These differences are primarily influenced by hormonal factors, with testosterone promoting bone growth and density in males, and estrogen playing a crucial role in maintaining bone health in females. Understanding these attributes is important for healthcare professionals to provide appropriate care and prevention strategies for both genders, considering their unique bone characteristics.

Lord, Let Your Mercies Find Me Today

There is something remarkable about the way God works.

He often reveals his heart in places where no one else bothers to look.

While people chase after status, recognition, and places of influence, the Lord leans into the forgotten corners of life.

He goes where the hurting are, where the broken gather, and where the rejected dwell.

And it is there among the outcasts  that his love shines brightest.

This is beautifully captured in Mark 2 :15-17.

While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples.

For there were many who followed him.

When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

That is the essence of the gospel.

It reminds us that God is not afraid of our mess.

God is not intimidated by our failures.

God is not repelled by our brokenness.

Instead, God draws near.

God sits with us.

God calls us his own.

And this is exactly why I love God.

Because while people may measure worthiness by success, morality, or appearance, the Lord looks deeper.

He makes it his mission to pursue those who feel unworthy, unseen, or unloved.

Where others see shame, he sees a soul worth saving.

Where others see hopelessness, he sees a story ready to be redeemed.

The truth is, none of us deserve what he gives.

We do not deserve eternal life, yet he offers it freely.

We cannot earn his great love, yet he pours it out without measure.

We have not earned his grace, yet his grace continues to be more than enough.

And though we fall short of his glory, his mercy covers us day by day.

The book of Lamentations 3: verses 22 and 23 proclaims, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. "

Every sunrise is proof that God has not given up on us.

Every new day is a reminder that his mercy has not run out.

No matter what yesterday looked like, his mercy is still waiting for us when we open our eyes in the morning.

Yet life is never just sunshine and roses.

It is a mixture of highs and lows, joy and sorrow.

At times, life feels like an endless tug of war between victories and defeats, laughter and tears, love and heartbreak.

No one escapes hardship.

Every person, no matter how strong or faithful, will walk through seasons where the weight feels unbearable.

Pain becomes a language we all understand.

David, the shepherd boy turned king, knew this reality well.

In Psalm 119 verse 71, he confessed, "It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes, it takes spiritual maturity to see affliction as good."

But David understood that pain had a purpose.

Trials are not wasted in the hands of God.

They become classrooms where he teaches us, chisels us, and draws us closer to himself.

While comfort might make us complacent, hardship makes us desperate for his presence.

And that desperation often births deeper faith.

The Lord cares more about who we are becoming than whether we are always comfortable.

His eyes are not fixed on giving us a problem-free life, but on shaping our character, strengthening our faith, and refining our hearts.

In fact, I would say that God is more invested in the condition of your sou than in the fleeting happiness of your circumstances.

This is not telling us to enjoy pain for its own sake.

It is reminding us that there is a hidden treasure within trials.

The testing of our faith produces something eternal.

It gives birth to endurance.

And endurance produces maturity, wisdom, and peace.

Without the storm, we would never learn how to anchor ourselves in Christ.

Without the fire, we would never see what impurities need to be burned away.

Without the valley, we, sheep, would never realize how much we need the shepherd to guide us.

So when you face difficulties, know that they are not pointless.

They are opportunities for God to prove himself faithful.

They are moments for your faith to grow roots, deeper.

They are seasons where if you hold fast, you will emerge stronger, wiser, and more dependent on God than ever before.

So what should we do with all of this?

We should hold on tightly to the promises of God.

When you feel rejected, remember that Jesus sat at the table with outcasts and called them his friends.

When you feel unworthy, remind yourself that his mercy is new every morning.

When you feel crushed by trials, cling to the truth that affliction produces growth.

And when you feel like giving up, return to God's word that assures you he will never leave nor forsake you.

The Lord who stepped into Levi's house still steps into our broken homes today.

The Savior who embraced sinners still embraces us, no matter our past.

The God who allowed affliction in David's life still allows it in ours, but always with a purpose, to grow us, to refine us, and to lead us into deeper intimacy with him.

That is who he is.

The God who goes where others will not go.

The savior who calls the forgotten by name.

The Lord who uses even trials to shape us into vessels of his glory.

So if your life feels bright, give thanks and stay close to him.

If your life feels heavy, trust that he is with you in the storm.

If your faith feels tested, remember that it is producing endurance.

And through it all, keep your eyes on

Jesus Christ.

Now let's take a moment to pray 🙏

together.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of another day.

Thank you for life, for breath, and for the moment to walk once again in your grace.

I thank you for your mercies that are new every morning.

Each sunrise is a reminder that you have not forsaken me.

Your love carries me.

Your mercy covers me. and your grace sustains me.

Lord, I give you all glory for being who you are.

Father, as I step into this day, I ask that you strengthen my heart.

You know the burdens I carry and the silent battles I face.

You see what weighs heavily on my mind.

So Lord, I pray that the Holy Spirit would strengthen my faith today.

Holy Spirit, whisper to me, guide me, and remind me that when the troubles of life begin to overwhelm me, I am never alone.

Remind me that I have a friend in Jesus, a savior who never leaves nor forsakes his children.

When my problems are many and I feel surrounded by challenges, remind me, Lord, that I can run into the arms of Jesus Christ and find refuge.

When my heart is weary and my soul longs for rest, lead me to the one who promised, "come to me all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. "

Thank you, Father, that I serve a living God.

One who is not powerless, but one who carries my burdens and gives me peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord, I acknowledge that you are all powerful.

There is nothing beyond your reach.

There is no problem too complicated for you to solve.

No sickness too strong for you to heal.

No mountain too high for you to move.

And no wall too strong for you to tear down.

You still move mountains.

You still calm storms.

You still cause walls to falI.

And for that I am grateful, Lord.

You are the same yesterday, today, and forever more.

Father, I thank you that you loved me first, even when I was far from you.

Your love reached me before I ever knew how much I needed it.

And today, I ask that you give me the strength to rise up every day and face the struggles that try to weigh me down.

Give me courage when fear whispers.

Give me hope when despair tries to creep in.

Lord, I lift up your holy name.

For you are the God of the impossible.

There is no challenge too great for you to overcome.

There is no situation too hopeless that you cannot redeem.

When I feel weak, Lord, let your strength be made perfect in my weakness.

Teach me to lean not on my own understanding, but to trust fully in your word.

Let your Spirit lift me when I stumble and remind me that in Christ Jesus'  I am victorious.

Let me never forget that your grace is sufficient and that your power works best when I have no strength of my own.

Father, today I bring before you my burdens and my weariness.

You know the pain that cannot be spoken, the tears that fall in silence, and the fears that hide in the corners of my mind

Lord, I surrender them to you now.

Help me not to fear, but to trust in you completely.

Help me not to give in to   discouragement, but to rejoice in you always, knowing that joy in you is my strength.

Holy Spirit, help me never to take for granted the goodness and kindness of the Lord.

May I always be thankful, even in the little things, for every blessing is a gift from you.

Lord, I declare today that my faith is not in my own ability, but in your promises.

I declare that you are faithful to fulfill every word you have spoken.

I trust that you will fight for me and that victory belongs to you.

You are mighty, you are powerful, you are righteous, and you are true.

And so, Lord, I bless your holy name.

Your word says in Psalm 121, "The Lord shall preserve you from all evil. He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth and even forever more."

Father, I hold on to that promise today.

I confess by faith that you are my  keeper, the one who watches over my

² Pure heart, steadfast spirit ...

 (  << Previous here

Now, let us come before our merciful and gracious God in prayer with hearts that are ready for transformation, spirits that are hungry for renewal, and souls that are desperate for a fresh start.

🙏

Heavenly Father, I come before you today with a heart that needs your transforming touch.

I come with a spirit that needs your renewing power.

I come acknowledging that I cannot change myself, that I cannot purify my own heart, that I cannot create the spiritual life I long for through my own strength or effort.

Like king David, I cry out to you.

Create in me a pure heart, oh God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Lord, I confess that my heart has been stained by sin, clouded by selfishness, hardened by pride, and wounded by disappointment.

I confess that I have thoughts that dishonor you, spoken words that hurt others, and made choices that have taken me far from your best for my life.

I confess that I have tried to live according to my own wisdom and have found myself lost and broken.

But today, I choose to believe in your power to transform.

I choose to trust in your desire to restore.

I choose to have faith in your ability to create something beautiful from the brokenness of my life.

Create in me a pure heart, Lord.

A pure heart that has been cleansed by your forgiveness and empowered by your spirit.

Create a heart that desires what you desire, that loves what you love, that pursues what you pursue.

Remove from me the heart of stone that has grown cold toward you and toward others.

Remove the callousness that has built up through years of disappointment and hurt.

Remove the bitterness that has taken root through unforgiveness and resentment.

Remove the pride that keeps me from fully surrendering to your will.

Give me a heart of flesh, tender toward your spirit, sensitive to your voice, responsive to your leading.

Give me a heart that breaks for what breaks yours, that rejoices in what brings you joy, that grieves over what grieves you.

Give me a heart that loves others the way you love me, that forgives others the way you have forgiven me, that serves others the way you have served me.

And Lord, renew a steadfast spirit within me.

I confess that my spirit has been unstable, wavering between   commitment and compromise, wavering between faith and fear, wavering between obedience and rebellion.

I confess that I have been easily swayed by circumstances, easily discouraged by setbacks, easily distracted by temptation.

But I ask you to create within me a spirit that remains faithful when everything around me is changing.

Create a spirit that stands firm when the storms of life rage around me.

Create a spirit that chooses your ways even when those ways are difficult, even when they're costly, even when they're misunderstood by others.

Give me the spiritual strength to resist temptation when it comes.

Give me the spiritual courage to stand for truth when it's unpopular.

Give me the spiritual wisdom to make decisions that honor you even when they don't benefit me.

Give me the spiritual endurance to keep following you even when the journey is long and difficult.

Lord, I pray for everyone who feels like they've gone too far, fallen too hard, or failed too often to ever start fresh with you.

I pray that you would open their eyes to see that your mercies are new every morning, that your grace is sufficient for every failure, that your love is stronger than every sin.

For those who feel trapped in patterns of behavior they cannot break, I pray for your liberating power to set them free.

For those who feel crushed by guilt and shame, I pray for your forgiving grace to lift the burden from their shoulders.

For those who feel hopeless about ever changing, I pray for your transforming love to give them new hope.

Create pure hearts in all of us, Lord God.

Not hearts that are proud of their purity, but hearts that are grateful for your grace.

Not hearts that judge others who are struggling, but hearts that reach out with compassion to help others find the same transformation we have received.

Renew steadfast spirits in all of us.

Not spirits that are rigid and legalistic, but spirits that are firm in their commitment to you.

Not spirits that lack compassion for human weakness, but spirits that are strengthened by your mercy to show mercy to others.

I thank you, Father, that you are the God of fresh starts, new beginnings, and second chances.

I thank you that you specialize in transformation, that you delight in restoration, that you excel in re-creation.

I thank you that no heart is too hard for you to soften, no spirit is too broken for you to restore, no life is too damaged for you to redeem.

Help us to live each day in the reality of the pure hearts and steadfast spirits you have given us.

Help us to walk in the freedom of your forgiveness and the power of your spirit.

Help us to be living testimonies of your transforming grace, beacons of hope for others who need to know that fresh starts are possible.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who came to give us new life and make all things new, I pray.

Amen.

Respected reader, if you're ready to ask God for a fresh start, if you need him to create a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within you, please type "create in me a pure heart" in the comments. Let that declaration be the beginning of your journey toward the transformation which God wants to bring into your life.

If this prayer has touched something deep in your spirit and you sense God calling you to a new beginning, please share how you're feeling in the comments.

Your testimony could be the encouragement someone else needs to believe that fresh starts are possible.

All glory honour, and praises to the Almighty Good alone.

Amen.

GOD LEADING US

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, ...

But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”

To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,

In those days Peter stood up among the brothers (the company of persons was in all about 120) and said, “Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. For he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in this ministry.” (Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out. And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was called in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.) ...

Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”

But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?”

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank. And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him. Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it.

“And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. “‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you. Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments, and they will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: ‘The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands. “‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

To those who are elect , according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain.

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.

Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you. Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh— though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee;

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.

Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.

Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven.

“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.

Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers.

I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations,

And when this had taken place, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases also came and were cured. They also honored us greatly, and when we were about to sail, they put on board whatever we needed. After three months we set sail in a ship that had wintered in the island, a ship of Alexandria, with the twin gods as a figurehead.

The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.”

And coming to us, he took Paul's belt and bound his own feet and hands and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”

Except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me.

And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there,

But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus.

The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

And they went through the region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.

God's alive, leading the way,

He has brought us to this hour and day

He only stays where his word is made alive

Don't look back from where you came

God has moved from there his name

He only stays where his word is made alive
