Dehydration ranges on a scale from mild to severe, with symptoms and consequences ranging in severity between those two extremes. In mild to moderate dehydration that can results from strenuous or prolonged activity, extended heat exposure, or illnesses and conditions that involve fluid loss ( high fever, vormiting, and/or diarrhoea), one of the first indications of the need for water is thirst. Bear in mind and remember to drink your water before you feel thirsty because if you wait for the first thirst signal to be triggered by your body, by then, you have already entered into 2 percent dehydration. as dehydration ensues, the following symptoms are commonly reported:
• Dry mouth
• Swollen tongue
• Fatigue
• Decrease in urination frequency
• Headache
• Dry skin
• Dizziness
• Hunger
If the dehydration becomes severe, the signs and symptoms change to include indications that serious damage to the organs and systems is setting it. If you begin to experience these symptoms or are in the presence pf someone else exhibiting the symptoms, water should be consumed immediately, and you should seek emergency assistance. The following are symptoms of moderate to severe dehydration:
• Fever at or above 103℉
• Confusion
• Lethargy
• Seizures
• Difficulty breathing/ wheezing sound
• Chest pain or abdominal pain
• Fainting
• No urine for 12 hours or more.
• Dry mouth
• Swollen tongue
• Fatigue
