Freedom and happiness to think, act and live as we wish

What are aspects of Singapore and its people that tourists would not notice?

Little do any tourists know that 7-Eleven

in Singapore isn’t an ordinary

convenience store but is rather a

‘rubbish’ store to cutthroat whoever walk

-in.

Only I learned the hard way when I

bought a bar of soap and the receipt

came up $3.90 for an unknown brand.

When my wife knew about that she said:

“So, you think it’s 70 cents like ‘Lux soap

or Parrot brand’ in 7-Eleven in Bangkok,

is it? Only a sucker buys anything from

7-Eleven here in Singapore, other than

cigarettes and Gardenia bread, even

Coke is expensive there .” Then she

continued scrolling her phone looking

for arts & craft stuff.

Yes, I was a sucker thinking that it’s dirt

cheap like 7- Eleven in Thailand.

Wait! My wife continued saying “ Do you

notice that many 7-Eleven stores have

either one girl or guy manning the store

and struggling to communicate in Malay

, Tamil, Chinese, and English?” Umm…

Not Thai either, who are they—from

Mars? I began to wonder.

7-Eleven in Thailand is a lifeline for

homeless people, hangover night owls,

and desperate hookers & over the hill

ladyboys to hook lonesome tourists,

moody overworked chauffeurs, fussy

aunties, bored housewives and lazy

husbands to out-of-job celebrities, and

cheapskate coffee drinkers ( like me).

Why so?

Only one place where you can get any-

thing you need 24/7 from a banana to

frozen “Pad Kraprao” sanitary pads to

condoms or baby diapers to XXL

T-shirts for oversized dad and

merchandise prices start from 5 Bath

for bottled water, 30 Baht ‘Americano’

and even a classic ‘Magnum bar’ is

45 Baht ( or $1.70) which costs

$4.70 in Singapore.

If you think all olive oil is created the

same, think again…Unfortunately, if

you cook with any of these popular

oils you may not be getting real olive

oil at all! Researchers from the

University of California studied a

sample of imported, store-bought olive

oil and they discovered that 69%

FAILED to meet the accepted

standards for olive oil.

These cooking oils can cause inflamma-

tion, blood sugar spikes, weight gain,

and worse. The good news is, there’s

healthy alternative that has the opposite

effect…It helps you have more energy, a

healthier heart, stronger muscles and

can even help you BURN some of that

unwanted fat.

You just need to know which cooking oil

to use – and which to avoid.

If you cook at least once a week, you’re

gonna want to see this.

I'm a single dad with four kids, and for

the past four months, we've been living

in a tent on the street. A few days ago,

I witnessed something really awful at

the gas station. An elderly man didn’t

have enough cash to pay, and instead

of helping him, people just cursed at

him and drove off. I couldn’t just stand

by, so I paid for him, even though it

was my last bit of money.

The next morning, I spotted two jeeps

parked near our tent. One of the guards

approached me and said, "This letter is

for you, sir." I opened it, and oh my gosh,

I felt my face go pale. Holding back

tears, I asked in a shaky voice, "Are...

are you serious? Is this some kind of

joke?

This incident happened in Kombaru

sanctuary in Karnataka, India.

The leopard was chasing the dog, the dog

entered the bathroom through a window, the

bathroom was locked from outside.

The leopard entered after chasing behind the

dog and both of them got trapped in the

toilet; when the dog saw the leopard, he

panicked and sat silently in a corner.

He didn't even dare to bark.

Although the leopard was hungry and was

chasing the dog, he didn't eat it.

He could have had dinner by jumping on the

dog, but the two animals stayed together in

different corners for almost twelve hours.

During these twelve hours, the leopard also

remained calm.

The forest department focused on the leopard

and captured it with a tranquilizer dart.

Now the question is, why didn’t the hungry

leopard attack the dog when it was easily

possible?

Wildlife researchers have answered this

question: According to them, wild animals are

very sensitive to their freedom.

As soon as they realize that their freedom has

been taken away, they can feel deep pain, to

the point of forgetting their hunger.

Their natural motivation to eat begins to fade.

Freedom and happiness are connected.

Freedom to think, act and live as we

wish
