About Water

“Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods.”

“Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.”

“Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let your tears water the seeds of your future happiness.”

“For whatever we lose (like a you or a me),
It's always our self we find in the sea.”

“The only drink I like ice in is water, because you can’t water down water. I’m like that with love, too. Don’t you dare add any ice to the hot liquid loving I’m trying to pour all over you.”

“Anger is like flowing water; there's nothing wrong with it as long as you let it flow. Hate is like stagnant water; anger that you denied yourself the freedom to feel, the freedom to flow; water that you gathered in one place and left to forget. Stagnant water becomes dirty, stinky, disease-ridden, poisonous, deadly; that is your hate. On flowing water travels little paper boats; paper boats of forgiveness. Allow yourself to feel anger, allow your waters to flow, along with all the paper boats of forgiveness. Be human.”

“The cure for anything is salt water - tears, sweat, or the sea.”

“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.
I am haunted by waters.”

“It is life, I think, to watch the water. A man can learn so many things.”

“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”

“A Kiss is a terrible name for a piece of chocolate shaped like a water droplet, because kisses are hot and would melt chocolate—even if it is wearing an astronaut suit made out of tinfoil.
”  At even one penny, this blog would be overpriced. In fact, free is too expensive, because you'd still waste time by reading it.

“She loves the serene brutality of the ocean, loves the electric power she felt with each breath of wet, briny air.”

“I just bought a small condo overlooking the water. The water is in a cup, one floor below my unit.
”

“Human nature is like water. It takes the shape of its container.”

“No matter how much water a sink takes on, it never lives up to its name. The Titanic would never have sunk if it were made out of a sink.
”

 “Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him that doth fade,
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.
Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell: Ding-dong
Hark! now I hear them,—Ding-dong, bell.”
― William Shakespeare, The Tempest

“The ocean was the best place, of course. That was what she loved most. It was a feeling of freedom like no other, and yet a feeling of communion with all the other places and creatures the water touched.”

“I don’t drink water, because if water can erode rock, think what it can do to flesh.
”

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.

“Water is the driving force in nature.” ― Leonardo da Vinci

“Ocean: A body of water occupying two-thirds of a world made for man - who has no gills.”

“You never really know what's coming. A small wave, or maybe a big one. All you can really do is hope that when it comes, you can surf over it, instead of drown in its monstrosity.”

“I read once that water is a symbol for emotions. And for a while now I've thought maybe my mother drowned in both.”

“In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans; in one aspect of You are found all the aspects of existence.” ― Kahlil Gibran

“An over-indulgence of anything, even something as pure as water, can intoxicate.”

For all dogs owners

Just have to share this wonderful news. Our yellow lab Jesse was having arthritis problems to the extent that the vet said she would have to get cortisen shots and whateve and was limping rather badly. At http://www.watercure2.com I learned of a simple , inexpensive almost 100% cure for dog arthritis using celtic sea salt and is called the watecure. I put 1/4 tsp of celtic sea salt in both of her daily feedings and a pinch in her drinking water. Tried it and now she is running up and down the stairs like a pup, she is coming up on 9 years old. If your pet is suffering from this or other ailments, please check out Bob Butts website. A most generous man who profits nothing from his efforts other than the good will he receives from those he helped, myself included. All he asked of me is to spread the good news. In fact at the chain of auto supply stores he owns, he gives the sea salt away to his customers he so dedicated to this healing method. I know this is way off the topic of this forum, but having seen pics of dogs in crisis on this forum, thought I'd chance making this post in hopes that others would benefit from it as my dog has.

Trakr Revised Editions: clones

Thursday, June 18

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - - Five clones of a search and rescue dog which helped locate people trapped in the rubble of the 9/11 attacks were formally presented to their ancestor's former handler.
James Symington, a former Canadian police officer, choked back tears as he formally took possession of the five descendants of his beloved German shepherd named Trakr, who died in April.

Symington was presented with Trakr's offspring after winning a competition organized by California firm BioArts International -- the "Golden Clone Giveaway" -- to find the world's most "cloneworthy" dog.

Symington said he hopes the puppies -- Trustt, Valor, Prodigy, Solace and Deja Vu -- will go on to follow in Trakr's footsteps.

"We're here to celebrate that Trakr's legacy lives on in these five beautiful puppies," he told reporters. "If they have the same attributes Trakr did, then hopefully they'll develop into world class search and rescue dogs."

Symington and Trakr arrived at the site of the World Trade Center collapse, commonly referred to as Ground Zero, on September 12, 2001 and were one of the first K9 search and rescue teams on the scene.

After working nearly non-stop for 48 hours, Trakr located the last human survivor found in the rubble of the twin towers.

"Trakr was an extraordinary search and rescue dog. His work at Ground Zero was the culmination of his career," Symington said.

BioArts International, which says it offers the world's first commercial dog cloning service, partnered with South Korea's SooAm Biotech Research Foundation to clone Trakr under the direction of scientist Hwang Woo-Suk.

BioArts International chief executive Lou Hawthorne said canine cloning would remain beyond the reach of ordinary pet lovers, with cloned dogs costing an average 144,000 dollars each.

Hawthorne defended the right of people to clone their dogs instead of obtaining new pets from rescue shelters.

"I think 99 percent of the time people should get their pets from shelters," he told AFP.
"But can we agree though that one percent of the time if you have a one in a million dog and you have the money to pay for it, you should be able to go to either a breeder or a cloner?"

Hawthorne said Trakr had been chosen for cloning because of his heroics on 9/11. "We received many very touching submissions to our contest, describing some truly amazing dogs," he said. "But Trakr's story blew us away."

Symington meanwhile said that one member of his new litter -- Trustt -- was an exact replica of Trakr.

"The physical similarities are uncanny," he told AFP. "He's the spitting image of the Trakr that I first met in 1995. He has exactly the same markings, the way he moves, everything. Very alert, very intelligent and intuitive.

"I respect that cloning's not for everyone. But there are few dogs that are born with extraordinary abilities and Trakr was one of those dogs," he said.

"I look forward to the day that these puppies can follow in Trakr's footsteps and play an important role in other rescues, like Trakr did."

The Spirit Of "Sprite."

A few days after Sprite passed away........He's a joy - our little joy. We'd never forget him. And I think about him many times every day. And in the end, we humans are the lucky ones. .......

This post is dedicated to all canine-friends worldwide and hope you feel the feelings and knowing that others understand what it's like to mourn over the loss of a beloved companion, be it an animal pet or human-like creature, was comforting to me then, as it is today. These heart-felt sharing may be comforting to you , as well.

From Hammer: I've lived a lot of years and had many a canine friend. My heart has broken with every loss, for they are family in every way.
Upon my return from Vietnam, where I witnessed German Shepherds give their lives to save their human comrades, I found my first German Shepherd, Duke.
Duke was courageous, loyal, and protective. He was a true part of me. We were inseparable. We ran together. We rode together in the car. We were young together. We could communicate without words. We fought for each other. When he was failing and I was rushing him to the vet, he seemed gone. With that last energy in his being, he rose up and gave me a nuzzle. The eleven years we shared, the best eleven years of my life, were over all too fast, and a part of me died with my beloved friend Duke.
My sympathy goes out to the Levin family. Cherish Pepsi and don't be afraid to add another puppy to your warm family. We are all richer for their love.
With the two Shepherds I now have, there have been seven of these loyal companions in my life. With each loss there has been sorrow, with each new pup there was joy. The joy is much greater than the sorrow. That joy enriches my soul.
The Sprite's memory, let us all honour our companions and reap the joy they can bring.

From Flipper:
So I hear that you lost your dog. I'm so sorry. I became so incredibly attached to all my past dogs. To lose a pet, especially a dog, is horrible. More people should respect their dogs and realize how human-like they really are. We just had to put down my Golden Retriever a year ago. She was fourteen. I had her since she was a puppy. It never gets easier, but she had so much fun and love while she was here. I let her sleep on the bed from day one!
Just wanted to send you my condolences. I hope your dog is in doggy heaven with my dogs. We plan on getting one from the pound or North Shore Animal League soon. Your dog is watching over you. I know mine is watching over me. I still dream about her.

From Rlusk 1 :
Mark, my condolence for your loss. I, too, lost both my beloved dogs. Oprah died in 2001 and Whitney in 2004. I could never replace them with any other dogs. I was on a road trip when Oprah died. I was three days away at the time. I regret to this day that I was not there. It happened suddenly without warning. But I know that God sent me a sign that it was okay. I was staying at a cabin with some friends, sitting around a campfire mourning the loss of Oprah. I felt something rub up against my leg and looked down to see a little Retriever puppy the same colour as my Oprah.
The dog looked at me and kinda smiled and then ran off. No one else saw the dog but me. That was God's way of telling me that Oprah was okay with me not being there.

From Paul :
Mark, I was saddened to hear you lost your best friend Sprite. I had a little black & white dog my mother adopted which I took after she passed away at only fifty-eight. Sam lived for another fifteen years until I had to have him put to sleep when he fell prey to brain cancer. I also was the third owner of a sweet German Shepherd who hated everyone but me. He was an incredible dog. And his name was Sampson, Sam for short. I had two dogs at the same time named Sam. Not long ago he began having ministrokes, which caused this wonderful dog to collapse to the floor yipping like a baby, unable to stand for minutes at a time. i eventually had him put to sleep to stop his suffering. I promised him I would bury him in the backyard he loved so, where he loved to chase rabbits (never catching any).
One night, Thanksgiving eve, I drove my Jeep to a nice corner of my yard, using the headlights to see, and in the pouring chilly rain I tearfully laid my friend to rest along with his blanket and toys. Sam was about nine years old. When i sold my house, I was again saddened when I had to say good-bye [a second time]. This was about six years ago and as I write this, my eyes are filled with tears.

With great loving furry friends dogs are. To this day, I just can't bring myself to get another dog. I was a police officer when i lived in New York and was hurt on the job before I retired on disability, so I was with my guys all the time.
I miss them so much and I know you, too, will miss your best friend forever.

From Museum Curator :
Way back on Dec.7th,1988, we lost our family dog that I grew up with. To this day, December 7 not only means the day of infamy, it also means the day I lost a good loyal friend. I'm sure for our buddy Mark it will be the same.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Levin family, Pepsi, and our good buddy Sprite.

From Marion : When you signed off, "Good night, Sprite . . . "

I have dogs. I LOVE my dogs. They're my family. I've enjoyed when you talked about Pepsi and Sprite. Then, the night you told us Sprite's problem . . . and the night you came back in December after being off for about a week . . . I knew then that Sprite was gone even though you never said a thing until weeks later.

I lost three of my dogs between 11 March 2000 and 11 March 2005 (yes, two I lost on the exact same date five years apart, not by design) : two (Shadow and Odin) I'd had since they were puppies, and they had good, relatively long lives; the third (Lady Bug)was a rescue, an older, overweight girl. She wasn't with me even three years when she developed an "overnight" tumor and was gone within four days of its discovery. THAT loss was like being hit in the back of the head by a two-by-four wood. I still miss the three terribly, still cry at times, still laugh when I think of some of their actions. They've all been cremated. And when I go, I'll be, too, and have our ashes combined and scattered over trails we loved to hike. Oh, and I keep their ashes in decorative gift bags, and set them under the tree (where they always enjoyed being) at Christmas time.

I just wanted you to know that there are others who share your love and your grief. My thoughts are with you, your pets - both here and gone - and your family.

'Few things in life have given me the kind of joy and, frankly, sorrow, as my relationships with my dogs. And this is especially so with an older dog we rescued from a local shelter. We called him Sprite . . .'
-- from Mark Levin, lawyer, author and US talk-radio host, is first and foremost a dog lover.

In 1998, he and his family welcomed Pepsi, a half-Border Collie/half-Cocker Spaniel into their lives. Six years later, Mark's wife and son persuaded him to adopt another dog from the local shelter. Sprite was found wandering the streets of Maryland, lost or abandoned by his previous family. A Spaniel mix, he was the most beautiful dog they had ever seen.

Sprite and Pepsi became fast friends and with his gentle nature the Levin family too, fell in love with him. But on Halloween night, only weeks after joining their family, Sprite suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the vet. It was the first of many such visits, and the start of a long journey for the Levins.

During the next two years, Sprite's bond with the Levin family deepened. Friends, neighbours, and even Mark's radio audience came to know and love Sprite, but gradually his health deteriorated. Eventually the time came for them to say goodbye. Crushed and consumed with grief, Mark turned to family, friends and fans for help.

But new hope came when the Levins least expected it.

Dog Physiology -Walking the dog

Animals run by coiling and springing their spines; their vertebrae are not as weight-bearing as those of humans. In the upright man, this coiling and springing is translated into walking.

Singapore dog people or people with dog(s) can go to
www.pawsitivesensations.com for K9 massage service. Benny, my dog-friend also has a blog site for dogs at www.bennyxobile.blogspot.com
In walking, humans leave their body weight on the leg that remains behind when one leg is moved forward. When the forward leg touches the ground, the weight of the body is thrown onto it until the back leg moves.

In running, one does the same thing, except that one's weight is thrown forward even before the front leg has touched the ground. This is why the weight of the body increases when running - it has acceleration of gravity added to it.

If one is presently overweight or obese, just continuously walking one hour in the morning fresh air is best. Additional hour of evening walking will activate one's body-fat-burner enzymes for the next 24 hours, naturally. Drink 10% of your own water
daily ration (31.42 mL multiply by your own body weight in kilogram) just prior going to bed.

Let's walk one day at a time and enjoy the nature's green scenery and avoid ear-plug-in music. Nature walk revitalises the whole being. In stillness, look for movement within; in movement, look for stillness within. That's pure serenity. Yes, drink one glass of plain water before the walk.

When you are upright and moving, the FORCE of your weight in motion (which is MORE than your actual scale weight) will force-press water out of your discs and into the vertebrae above and below.
This release can cause a shrinkage in height of about one and half (1.5) to two (2) centimeters(cm) during 12 hours.

Bed rest - recommended in treatment of disc problems - will prevent shrinkage and allow full re hydration of the disc. That's the purpose you should drink another glass of water prior going to bed. The facet joints in your back must be maintained at a delicate no-weight-bearing relationship for their movement-regulating responsibilities.

A well-hydrated disc brings about by effectively packing the joint, whereas a thin disc, due to not drinking sufficient water-quota daily, will force these joints to become weight-bearing: in the long run, a course for arthritis. The pain first felt was a sign the joint is already dehydrated, and "arthritis", "joint-pain", "rheumatoid", et cetra are just medical terms which never help the victims recover. Give water-cure protocol a try yourself and see the difference.

Another important effect of disc thickness through adequate hydration (see previous posts in this blog for the water-cure formula) is the maintenance of a well-sized aperture or foramen on the side between the two vertebrae, above and below, allowing the nerve to pass through without being squeezed. Chiropractors may help/try to realign your vertebrae to the same effect, but ultimately it is the disc water-cushioning effect that eliminate the pain signal activated when the nerve line is compressed/squeezed. Hope you see the marvelous purpose of pain in human body.

Give water-cure protocol a try, before taking in drugs to suppress the pain. Water deficiency can trigger pain, too. Until your excess weight is gone, then you can really enjoy running or jogging or wogging (walking-cum-jogging). Happy walking to ideal weight.
