Jesus Said About Faith That We Keep Ignoring Four Words

Jesus Christ reduced faith to four simple words most believers read, but rarely obey. This message uncovers why striving to “get more faith” has kept so many believers frustrated, and how one overlooked command shifts faith from an emotional struggle to a deliberate response. When you see what Jesus Christ actually said, and choose to act on it, your walk with God moves from complicated effort to confident simplicity.

Chapter 1: The secret to faith

Jesus made one statement about faith that if believers actually obeyed it would eliminate 90% of the doubt, striving, and frustration in the Christian life.

But we ignore it. We read right over it. We spiritualize it away. And that disobedience keeps us locked in a cycle of trying to work up faith instead of simply receiving what Jesus said faith actually is.

Today you're going to see what Jesus said. And when you finally obey it, everything about your walk with God will shift from complicated to simple.

The statement is in Mark 11:22.

It's four words. Four simple words that most believers read a hundred times and never actually do. And those four words contain the secret to how faith operates, what faith is, and why most Christians struggle with something that Jesus said should be effortless.

This is not about trying harder to believe. This is not about working up more faith.

This is about seeing what Jesus actually said and doing it. And when you do, when you obey this one statement, faith stops being something you strive for and becomes something you simply have.

By the end of this teaching, you'll understand exactly what Jesus said, why we keep ignoring it, and what happens when you finally obey it.

This is the revelation that makes everything we've covered in this entire series come together.

Let us go straight to the verse Mark 11:22.

Chapter 2: Understanding the command

Jesus said, "Have faith in God."

Four words, "Have faith in God." And if you're like most believers, you've read that verse and thought, "Yes, that is what I am trying to do. I am trying to have faith in God. I am working on it. I am seeking it. I am striving for it."

But that response reveals you've completely missed what Jesus said.

Because Jesus did not say, "Try to have faith in God."

He did not say work up faith in God.

He did not say seek faith in God.

He said have faith in God. It is a command, not a suggestion, not advice, a command.

And you can't obey a command by trying. You obey a command by doing.

But here is the problem. Most believers treat have faith in God as if it means develop faith in God or get more faith in God.

They read it as a process they need to work through. And so they spend years trying to have more faith, trying to believe stronger, trying to feel more confident.

And they're exhausted because you can't try to have something. You either have it or you don't have it.

And Jesus is commanding you to have it. Not someday. Not after you've prayed enough or fasted enough or sought enough.

Now, have faith in God. Present tense, immediate obedience.

Now, the reason most believers struggle with that command is they do not understand what faith is.

They think faith is a feeling. They think it is an emotion they need to work up. They think it is confidence they need to manufacture.

And as long as you think that, you'll never be able to obey.

Have faith in God. Because you can't command a feeling. You can't demand an emotion, but Jesus is commanding faith, which means faith is not what most believers think it is. So what is faith?

Chapter 3: Faith is a decision

Let us go to the Greek. The word Jesus used is pistus and it means trust, confidence, reliance. But more specifically, it means the act of trusting, not the feeling of trust. The act.

Faith is not an emotion you feel. Faith is a decision you make. It is the choice to rely on God's word regardless of how you feel, regardless of what you see, regardless of what circumstances say.

And when you understand that faith is a decision, not a feeling, the command, "have faith in God", becomes perfectly clear.

Jesus is saying, "Choose to trust God. Decide to rely on Him. Make the decision to believe His word."

And that is something you can do right now.

You do not have to work up to it. You do not have to feel ready. You just decide.

I understood this with absolute clarity.

"Faith is not a feeling to be felt. It is a fact to be believed and acted upon. You do not try to have faith.

You simply choose to believe what God said. And that choice is faith.

Faith is not a feeling to be felt. It is a fact to be believed and acted upon. That sentence should revolutionize your understanding. Because if faith is a choice, not a feeling, then you can have faith right now simply by choosing to believe God's word.

You do not need more time. You do not need more prayer. You don't need more seeking. You just need to decide that what God said is true and

5:355 minutes, 35 secondsact accordingly. And that decision, that choice is faith. Now, let's dig deeper

5:425 minutes, 42 secondsinto why we keep ignoring this. Because the reason reveals how we've been conditioned by religion instead of

Chapter 4: Why we ignore the command

5:495 minutes, 49 secondsinstructed by scripture. Religion teaches that faith is something you develop over time. that you start with a little faith and through spiritual

5:585 minutes, 58 secondsdisciplines and experiences you grow more faith and the more faith you have the more results you see but that entire

6:076 minutes, 7 secondssystem contradicts what Jesus said Jesus didn't say develop faith in God he said have faith in God which implies you can

6:166 minutes, 16 secondshave it now fully completely immediately not because you've grown enough because

6:236 minutes, 23 secondsyou've chosen to believe. Look at what Jesus said immediately after, have faith

6:296 minutes, 29 secondsin God. Mark 11:23 says,"For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say

6:376 minutes, 37 secondsunto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not

6:446 minutes, 44 secondsdoubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass. He shall have whatsoever

6:536 minutes, 53 secondshe saith." Notice the progression. Have faith in God. Then speak to the

7:017 minutes, 1 secondmountain. Then believe you receive when you pray. And you'll have what you say.

7:087 minutes, 8 secondsThe entire process starts with a decision. Have faith. Choose to trust.

7:167 minutes, 16 secondsAnd from that decision, everything else flows. But most believers reverse the

7:237 minutes, 23 secondsprocess. They try to feel faith before they speak. They try to work up confidence before they believe. They

7:317 minutes, 31 secondswait for doubt to disappear before they act. And Jesus is saying that's backwards. You have faith first. You

7:417 minutes, 41 secondsmake the decision to trust God's word first, and then you speak, then you

7:477 minutes, 47 secondspray, then you act. Not waiting until you feel ready. Deciding to be ready.

7:557 minutes, 55 secondsAnd that decision is what faith is. Let me show you exactly how this works practically. Imagine you're facing a

Chapter 5: Practical application

8:048 minutes, 4 secondssituation that contradicts God's promise. Maybe it's a health issue and you're standing on first Peter 2:24. By

8:128 minutes, 12 secondswhose stripes you were healed. The symptoms say you're not healed. The doctor's report says you're not healed.

8:198 minutes, 19 secondsHow you feel says you're not healed.

8:228 minutes, 22 secondsEverything visible contradicts the promise. Now, most believers at this point try to work up a feeling of faith.

8:298 minutes, 29 secondsThey try to convince themselves they're healed. They try to manufacture confidence despite the evidence. And they exhaust themselves because they're

8:388 minutes, 38 secondstrying to feel something that faith isn't. But if you understand that faith is a decision, not a feeling, the entire

8:468 minutes, 46 secondsdynamic changes. You look at the situation, you acknowledge what you see.

8:528 minutes, 52 secondsAnd then you make a decision. God said, "By his stripes, I was healed." That's a finished statement, past tense. I choose

9:019 minutes, 1 secondto believe what God said over what I see. I'm not denying the symptoms. I'm declaring that God's word is a higher

9:089 minutes, 8 secondsreality than symptoms. And I'm going to act on God's word regardless of how I feel. That's faith, not the feeling of

9:179 minutes, 17 secondsbeing healed. the decision to believe you're healed because God said so. And when you make that decision and act on

9:259 minutes, 25 secondsit, when you speak it and live from it, that's when manifestation begins to occur. Not because you felt ready,

9:349 minutes, 34 secondsbecause you decided to believe. Here's another example. You're facing financial pressure. The bills are real. The lack

9:439 minutes, 43 secondsis visible. Everything you see says you don't have enough. and you're standing on Philippians 4:19, but my God shall

9:529 minutes, 52 secondssupply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now, you can try to feel like your need is

10:0010 minutessupplied. You can try to work up an emotion that says everything's fine, but that's not faith. That's denial. Faith

10:0910 minutes, 9 secondsis looking at the lack, acknowledging it's there, and then making a decision.

10:1510 minutes, 15 secondsGod said he supplies all my need. That's a covenant promise. I choose to believe it. I'm going to thank him for his

10:2210 minutes, 22 secondsprovision even before I see it. I'm going to act like his word is true even while circumstances say otherwise. Not

10:2910 minutes, 29 secondsbecause I feel it, because I've decided to trust what he said. Do you see the difference? One approach tries to

10:3610 minutes, 36 secondsmanufacture a feeling. The other makes a decision. One is exhausting. The other is simple. One depends on your emotions.

10:4410 minutes, 44 secondsThe other depends on God's word. And Jesus commanded the second one. Have faith in God. Choose to trust him.

10:5210 minutes, 52 secondsDecide to believe his word not when you feel like it. Now, regardless of how you

11:0011 minutesfeel. Let me show you this principle in action through scripture. When Jesus told the centurion in Matthew 8:13, "Go

Chapter 6: Biblical examples

11:0811 minutes, 8 secondsthy way." And as thou hast believed, "So be it done unto thee," the centurion didn't feel his servant was healed. He

11:1711 minutes, 17 secondswas miles away from his servant. He couldn't see any change, but he made a decision. He believed Jesus word. And

11:2611 minutes, 26 secondsthe moment he made that decision, the Bible says his servant was healed in that same hour. Not when the centurion

11:3411 minutes, 34 secondssaw it, not when he felt it, the moment he decided to believe. That's faith.

11:4111 minutes, 41 secondsThat's the decision that releases power.

11:4411 minutes, 44 secondsOr consider the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5. She didn't feel healed when she pushed through the crowd. She was still bleeding. She was still weak.

11:5411 minutes, 54 secondsBut she made a decision. If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. That's not a feeling. That's a decision.

12:0312 minutes, 3 secondsShe chose to believe that touching Jesus' garment would heal her. And the moment she acted on that decision, the

12:1012 minutes, 10 secondsmoment her faith became action, power flowed, and she was healed. Jesus didn't

12:1712 minutes, 17 secondssay, "Your feelings made you whole." He said in Mark 5:34, "Daughter, thy faith

12:2312 minutes, 23 secondshath made thee whole." her decision, her choice to believe and act, that's what

12:3112 minutes, 31 secondsreleased the healing. This pattern is consistent throughout scripture. Every person who received from Jesus did so

12:3812 minutes, 38 secondsbecause they made a decision to believe his word and acted on it. Not because they felt confident, because they chose

12:4612 minutes, 46 secondsto trust. And their choice, their decision, that was faith. And Jesus honored it every single time. Now, here's where this gets revolutionary.

Chapter 7: Immediate faith in action

12:5712 minutes, 57 secondsWhen you understand that faith is a decision, you realize you can have faith for anything God promised at any moment simply by choosing to believe his word.

13:0713 minutes, 7 secondsYou don't have to wait until you've prayed enough. You don't have to fast until you feel spiritual enough. You don't have to seek until you've worked

13:1513 minutes, 15 secondsup enough confidence. You just read what God said and you decide to believe it.

13:2113 minutes, 21 secondsAnd that decision is faith immediately, completely, fully, not partial faith

13:2913 minutes, 29 secondsthat needs to grow. Full faith that chooses to trust. This is exactly what Romans 10:17 means when it says, "So

13:3813 minutes, 38 secondsthen faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Faith comes by hearing the word. Not by feeling the

13:4713 minutes, 47 secondsword, not by understanding the word fully, by hearing it. You hear what God

13:5413 minutes, 54 secondssaid and you make a decision. I believe that. And that decision is faith. It's

14:0214 minutes, 2 secondsnot complicated. It's not mystical. It's just a choice to trust what God said over what you see, feel, or experience.

14:1414 minutes, 14 secondsEW Kenyon put it powerfully. The moment you hear God's word and decide to act on

14:2114 minutes, 21 secondsit as though it were true, you have exercised faith, not because you felt something, because you chose something.

14:3014 minutes, 30 secondsAnd God honors the choice to believe him, not the feeling of confidence. The moment you hear God's word and decide to

14:3714 minutes, 37 secondsact on it as though it were true, you have exercised faith. That's the key.

14:4314 minutes, 43 secondsActing on it as though it were true. Not waiting until it feels true. Deciding it is true and acting accordingly. That's faith. And that's what Jesus commanded.

14:5514 minutes, 55 secondsHave faith. Make the decision. Act on the word. Now, here's where everything converges. The reason we keep ignoring

Chapter 8: Using the faith you have

15:0515 minutes, 5 secondshave faith in God is because we've been taught that faith is something we develop instead of something we decide.

15:1215 minutes, 12 secondsWe've been conditioned to think we need more faith, better faith, stronger faith. And so we're always striving,

15:2015 minutes, 20 secondsalways seeking, always trying to work up what Jesus said we should simply have.

15:2615 minutes, 26 secondsBut when you see that faith is a decision. When you understand that you can have full faith right now just by

15:3415 minutes, 34 secondschoosing to believe God's word, everything shifts. You don't need more faith. You need to use the faith you have by making the decision to believe.

15:4515 minutes, 45 secondsRomans 12:3 says, "God has dealt to every believer the measure of faith." You already have faith. It was given to

15:5315 minutes, 53 secondsyou at salvation. The issue is not getting more. The issue is using what you have. And you use it by making the

16:0116 minutes, 1 seconddecision to believe what God said. Not partially, not tentatively, fully,

16:0816 minutes, 8 secondscompletely with settled conviction that his word is truth regardless of circumstances.

16:1416 minutes, 14 secondsThis is what Jesus was revealing in Mark 11:24 when he said, "Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire

16:2416 minutes, 24 secondswhen ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Believe

16:3116 minutes, 31 secondsthat you receive them, not will receive." Receive. Present tense. When

16:3916 minutes, 39 secondsyou pray at that moment, make the decision that you've received. Not because you see it, not because you feel

16:4616 minutes, 46 secondsit, because God said when you pray believing it's yours. So you decide it's yours and you thank him for it and you act like it's yours. That's faith.

16:5916 minutes, 59 secondsThat's the decision Jesus commanded. And when you make that decision, when you have faith in God by choosing to believe

Chapter 9: The power of choice

17:0717 minutes, 7 secondshis word regardless of what you see, manifestation follows. Not because you felt ready,

17:1617 minutes, 16 secondsbecause you decided to believe. Think about what Jesus is saying here. When you pray, believe you receive. That's a

17:2417 minutes, 24 secondspresent tense decision. You're not believing you will receive someday.

17:2917 minutes, 29 secondsYou're believing you receive now. the moment you pray. And how do you do that when you don't see anything? By making a

17:3817 minutes, 38 secondsdecision. By choosing to believe that God's word is true regardless of visible evidence. By deciding that if God said

17:4517 minutes, 45 secondsit's yours when you pray believing, then it's yours. And you're going to thank him for it and act accordingly. This is

17:5417 minutes, 54 secondsprecisely what Abraham did in Romans 4:17. The Bible says Abraham believed God who quickenth the dead and calleth

18:0218 minutes, 2 secondsthose things which be not as though they were. Abraham called things that were not as though they were. He didn't deny

18:1018 minutes, 10 secondsthey weren't there yet. He acknowledged reality, but he chose to believe God's promise over present reality. And he

18:1818 minutes, 18 secondsspoke in agreement with God's promise even when circumstances contradicted it.

18:2318 minutes, 23 secondsThat wasn't denial. That was faith. the decision to trust God's word more than

18:3018 minutes, 30 secondsvisible evidence. And God counted it to him for righteousness according to Romans 4:3. That's what Jesus is commanding you to do. Have faith in God.

18:4218 minutes, 42 secondsMake the decision to believe his word over what you see. Call those things that are not as though they were. Not

18:5218 minutes, 52 secondsbecause you're pretending, but because you're believing God's promise. And when you do, when you make that decision and

19:0119 minutes, 1 secondact on it, speak it, live from it, God honors it every time. And here's the

Chapter 10: God honors your decision

19:0919 minutes, 9 secondspromise. Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without faith, it is impossible to please him.

19:1619 minutes, 16 secondsFor he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. You must

19:2619 minutes, 26 secondsbelieve that he is, and that he rewards those who seek him, not feel that he is.

19:3319 minutes, 33 secondsBelieve. Make the decision. Choose to trust. And when you do, when you have

19:4119 minutes, 41 secondsfaith by deciding to believe, God is pleased. Not because your feelings were right, because your decision aligned

19:5019 minutes, 50 secondswith his word. And he rewards that every time. Let's bring this to absolute

19:5619 minutes, 56 secondsclarity. The one thing Jesus said about faith that we keep ignoring is this.

20:0220 minutes, 2 secondsHave faith in God. Not try to have faith. Not work up faith. Not develop

20:0820 minutes, 8 secondsfaith over time. have faith now immediately as a decision, not a

20:1620 minutes, 16 secondsfeeling. And we ignore it because we've been taught that faith is an emotion we need to feel instead of a choice we need

20:2320 minutes, 23 secondsto make. We've been conditioned to think we need more faith when God already gave us the measure of faith at salvation.

20:3220 minutes, 32 secondsWe've been striving to develop something Jesus commanded us to simply have. But when you see that faith is a decision,

20:4020 minutes, 40 secondseverything changes. You don't need to wait until you feel confident. You just decide to believe God's word. You don't

20:5020 minutes, 50 secondsneed to work up an emotion. You just choose to trust what he said over what you see. You don't need years of

20:5820 minutes, 58 secondsspiritual growth before you can have faith. You can have it right now by making the decision that God's word is

21:0721 minutes, 7 secondstrue and acting accordingly. That's faith. That's what Jesus commanded and

21:1321 minutes, 13 secondsthat's what produces results. And here's what's beautiful about this revelation.

Chapter 11: Walking by faith

21:1821 minutes, 18 secondsIt removes all the pressure. You're not trying to manufacture a feeling you don't have. You're just making a choice,

21:2621 minutes, 26 secondsa simple choice. God said it. I believe it. That settles it. And from that settled decision, you speak, you pray,

21:3521 minutes, 35 secondsyou act, not waiting for confirmation, not looking for signs that you're doing it right. You've made the decision.

21:4321 minutes, 43 secondsGod's word is true. And you're going to live from that decision regardless of how you feel or what you see. This is

21:5021 minutes, 50 secondsexactly what 2 Corinthians 5:7 means when it says, "For we walk by faith, not by sight."

21:5821 minutes, 58 secondsWalking by faith doesn't mean closing your eyes to reality. It means making a decision to trust God's word as a higher

22:0522 minutes, 5 secondsreality than what you see. You see the problem. You acknowledge it's real, but you've decided that God's promise is

22:1322 minutes, 13 secondsmore real. And you're going to walk in agreement with his promise, not in agreement with circumstances. That's

22:2122 minutes, 21 secondsfaith. That's obedience to have faith in God. And that's what transforms everything. The practical application is

22:3022 minutes, 30 secondssimple but profound. Stop trying to feel faith. Start choosing to believe. When

22:3722 minutes, 37 secondsyou read a promise in scripture, don't wait until you feel like it's true. Decide it's true because God said it.

22:4522 minutes, 45 secondsWhen you pray, don't wait until you feel confident that God heard you. decide he

22:5222 minutes, 52 secondsheard you because he promised to hear you. When circumstances contradict God's word, don't try to work up a feeling

23:0023 minutesthat overrides what you see. Make a decision that God's word is a higher reality than circumstances and act

23:1023 minutes, 10 secondsaccordingly. That's faith. That's obedience to have faith in God. And

23:1723 minutes, 17 secondsthat's what releases the power of God in your life. EW Kenyon's final word on

Chapter 12: Conclusion

23:2423 minutes, 24 secondsthis. Faith is the simplest thing in the world when you understand it's a decision. And it's the most complicated

23:3323 minutes, 33 secondsthing in the world when you think it's a feeling. Stop trying to feel it. Start choosing it. Have faith in God. That's a

23:4223 minutes, 42 secondscommand. Obey it. Make the decision to believe his word and watch what God does

23:4923 minutes, 49 secondswith a heart that simply chooses to trust him. Faith is the simplest thing in the world when you understand it's a

23:5823 minutes, 58 secondsdecision. Stop trying to feel it. Start choosing it. Have faith in God. That's the command. That's the revelation.

24:1024 minutes, 10 secondsThat's what we've been ignoring. And now you know faith is not a feeling you work up. It's a decision you make. You can

24:1924 minutes, 19 secondshave full faith right now, today, this moment, simply by choosing to believe what God said. Not when you feel

24:2824 minutes, 28 secondsspiritual enough, not after you've prayed long enough. Now, decide.

24:3424 minutes, 34 secondsBelieve. Act. That's faith. That's what Jesus commanded and that's what

24:4124 minutes, 41 secondstransforms everything. Think about how this changes your daily walk. When you wake up in the morning and worry tries

24:4824 minutes, 48 secondsto grip you, you don't try to feel peaceful. You make a decision. God said, "Be anxious for nothing. I choose to

24:5624 minutes, 56 secondsbelieve him. I cast this care on him because he cares for me according to first Peter 5:7." That's faith. When

25:0425 minutes, 4 secondstemptation comes and you feel weak, you don't try to feel strong, you decide, I

25:1125 minutes, 11 secondsam dead to sin and alive to God according to Romans 6:11. I choose to believe that this temptation has no

25:1925 minutes, 19 secondspower over who I am in Christ. That's faith. When sickness attacks and symptoms scream, you don't try to feel

25:2825 minutes, 28 secondshealed. You decide. By his stripes, I was healed. I believe that. I thank God for healing that's already mine. That's

25:3725 minutes, 37 secondsfaith. Every situation becomes an opportunity to make the decision to believe God's word over what you see or

25:4525 minutes, 45 secondsfeel. And that decision consistently made transforms your entire life from

25:5225 minutes, 52 secondsstriving to resting, from powerless to powerful, from defeated to victorious.

25:5925 minutes, 59 secondsNot because you felt different, because you decided to believe differently. And God honors that decision every single

Chapter 13: Final revelation

26:0726 minutes, 7 secondstime. If this teaching has revealed that faith is a decision, not a feeling, and if you're ready to obey Jesus' command

26:1626 minutes, 16 secondsto have faith in God by choosing to believe his word right now, I want you to declare it in the comment section

26:2426 minutes, 24 secondsbelow. Type these words. I have faith in God. I choose to believe his word over what I see. Don't type it as something

26:3226 minutes, 32 secondsyou're trying to develop. Type it as the decision you're making right now. Faith is not a feeling. It's a choice and you're making that choice this moment.

26:4326 minutes, 43 secondsThis is you obeying Mark 11:22.

26:4726 minutes, 47 secondsDo it now. Type I have faith in God. I choose to believe his word over what I

26:5426 minutes, 54 secondssee. Now, understanding that faith is a decision changes everything. But there's one more revelation that completes the

27:0227 minutes, 2 secondspicture, and it's something most believers have never heard. Because once you understand that faith is a choice,

27:0927 minutes, 9 secondsthe next question is, why does faith sometimes seem to work and other times not? Why can you make the decision to

27:1727 minutes, 17 secondsbelieve and still not see results? The answer isn't what you think. It's not about having enough faith or believing

27:2527 minutes, 25 secondshard enough. There's a switch, a moment, an instant when faith goes from intellectual agreement to heart conviction. And when you discover what flips that switch, when you understand why faith doesn't grow but switches on, everything you've learned in this entire series will suddenly make perfect sense. This is the final piece.
