Free Screening of Award Winning Documentary,
Project LIGHT: From Rwanda to Newtown – A story of hope, healing, and possibility

Monday, October 19th
Newtown Middle School
6:00-8:00 pm
Newtown, CT (September 28, 2015) – The Tapping Solution Foundation (TTSF) is excited to announce the release of their award-winning documentary, Project LIGHT: From Rwanda to Newtown – a story of hope, healing and possibility. A free screening will take place Monday, October 19th, at Newtown Middle School from 6:00-8:00 pm. Refreshments, giveaways and babysitting will be offered.

This 60-minute documentary follows the transformation achieved by 12 orphan genocide survivors in Rwanda after participating in a new form of sustainable humanitarian aid called Project LIGHT. These young people, called Ambassadors, were trained to heal their Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and their hearts as well as teach others to do the same. In only two short years they paid forward their healing to hundreds, from Rwanda to Sandy Hook, Connecticut.

Produced by Academy Award winner Barnet Bain and narrated by Emmy-nominated actress CCH Pounder, the movie features Newtown High School Student, JT Lewis.

Dr. Lori Leyden, Head of TTSF and Founder of Create Global Healing, developed Project LIGHT as a result of her work in Rwanda with orphan genocide survivors since 2007. “With inquiries from around the world, my vision is to establish Project LIGHT programs wherever they are needed most around the world. When I witnessed JT’s transformation as a result of connecting with our Project LIGHT Ambassadors, I knew my vision was becoming a reality. (Newtowner JT Lewis, 12 years old at the time, brother of Jesse,).

Project LIGHT was a film festival finalist at Moondance, Unspoken, New York Peace, Illuminate and most recently, was the lead film at Anima, in Argentina where Dr. Leyden, sponsored by the US Embassy, represented the film to an international audience.

Jennifer Barahona, Executive Director, Newtown Sandy Hook Community Foundation, recommends Newtowners to take part in this special event: “This movie is a powerful reminder of the goodness and light that is possible following even the darkest of times.”

The documentary will be followed by a Q&A session with Nick Ortner – Newtown resident, NY Times bestselling author, and Founder of TTSF, Dr. Lori Leyden – Project LIGHT Founder and Head of TTSF, and J.T. Lewis – Founder of Newtown Helps Rwanda.

Newtowner, Nick Ortner, established The Tapping Solution Foundation in collaboration with Dr. Lori Leyden, Founder of Create Global Healing. TTSF has been delivering EFT/Tapping trauma services and professional training for parents, children, educators, first responders, mental health and health care providers since December 2012. TTSF has also developed a powerful network of local, national and international alliances to bring train-the-trainer trauma relief and resiliency services and educational programs to Newtown. This is a sustainable long-term, community-based initiative supporting healing in Newtown and globally.

EFT/Tapping is a stress and trauma somatic release method that is simple to learn, child-friendly and recognized by the American Psychological Association as an effective treatment for stress and trauma. This strategy has been used successfully in over 14 countries including Rwanda, Indonesia, Japan, Haiti, Kosovo, Israel, New Zealand and right here at home in Newtown. EFT/Tapping is just as highly effective for stress resiliency, anxiety, pain relief, test anxiety, panic attacks, and a host of other physical and emotional symptoms.

The EFT Silent Sea of Disappointed People

EFT Tapping Silent Sea image

"EFT offers great healing benefits."

Deepak Chopra, MD

“But it doesn’t work for me”
Many get little or no results via EFT Tapping – this need not be.

EFT Tapping Silent Sea image
The EFT Silent Sea.
(under-served and disillusioned)

This article is about an EFT opportunity for a swelling ocean of under-served and  disillusioned EFTers and how they can gain the results that have, so far, eluded them. A little history will help me in this effort.

History

When I founded EFT in 1995 I did so with an “Open Hand Policy” wherein people were encouraged to innovate with it, blend it with their other techniques and so on.  It was free.  No royalties or other restrictions were placed on it. This began what we now call my “Worldwide EFT Classroom” and has grown to millions of people in over 20 languages.  It has been on TV more times than I can count and over 100 books, DVDs and movies now feature EFT. Further, it has gained the attention of celebrities such as Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Jack Canfield and Louise Hay. This is the good news.

The Problem

The not-so-good-news is that it is rare to find any two people who do EFT the same.  Why? Because this proliferation of EFT has naturally been filtered through thousands (or millions) of belief systems and is being taught throughout the world by a throng of enthusiastic people, each believing in their customized version of EFT with integrity and the will to do good.  This is very confusing to the newcomer.  See About Those EFT Tapping Spin-Offs: A Candid Discussion.
Also, in these diverse teachings, you will rarely find any detailed treatment of vital, in-depth topics such as...
  • Finding Aspects within the EFT Tapping Process,
  • Testing Your EFT Tapping Work or
  • Tapping on Specific Events - An Essential Concept Within the EFT Process.
This results in “Surface EFT” wherein EFT tends to be aimed at the symptoms of the various issues rather than their causes.  While this can sometimes be effective, it often creates results that are temporary, partial or non-existent.  The people who experience these sub-par results represent the EFT Silent Sea of Disappointed People.

By contrast, some people get extraordinary results with Surface EFT and these results are heavily promoted on the internet and other media.  This makes it seem like EFT cures everything and does so instantly for everyone.  Or at least that’s the impression given by many EFT promoters.  I even thought along these lines myself at first.  This is because people would write to me about their “miracles” and I would publish these stories on my website.  This brought more miracle stories and the quick fix reputation of EFT began to mushroom.

But, alas, I primarily saw the successes because only a scant few wrote to me about their failures.  The under-served people remained silent while the more fortunate ones sang EFT's praises. Now, years later, I realize that a huge number of people are in this EFT Silent Sea.  They are lost, disillusioned and often say, “But EFT doesn’t work for me.”

The Solution

EFT Tapping Solution image
The solution, obviously, involves proper education with an in-depth standard for everyone to use.  That is why I created the free Gold Standard EFT Tapping Tutorial.  This hallmark of EFT excellence is only presented on my website because only in this way can every feature be properly controlled, updated and organized.  Stated differently, it cannot be adjusted or diluted by others and thus provides quality EFT for everyone.

It is freely available to anyone with access to a computer and, unlike printed books, it is filled with video examples of the important concepts.  Professionals can use it as a standard for their EFT activities (books, workshops, client sessions) and self-helpers can know that they are learning the “real deal.”  Both can access the growing library of supporting materials and become as expert as they choose.  With this essential tool, the Silent Sea will be much better served and will join the smiling evangelists within the EFT Worldwide Classroom.

So, if you are a member of the EFT Silent Sea, make sure your workshop presenter or EFT practitioner is thoroughly grounded in Gold Standard EFT and uses its principles.  Otherwise, consider going elsewhere.  Avoid those using Global Approaches in the EFT Tapping Process, or EFT Tapping Scripts or brief youtube videos.  These are likely doorways into the EFT Silent Sea.
e-hugs, Gary.

About Those EFT Tapping Spin-Offs: A Candid Discussion

"They all look something like EFT but underneath
they are substantially different, even from each other.
Frankly, I don't know whether to gasp or giggle at this outcome.
Conflicts everywhere. What’s a newbie to do?"

My concerns

Tapping concerns image
EFT's proliferation is
not without its concerns.

EFT’s worldwide proliferation is bringing hope to humanity but, due to issues that I caused, the movement is not without its concerns.

When I introduced EFT in 1995, I had no idea it would eventually land in the hands of millions.  If I had, I would have made sure that everyone learned the method equally.  Clear teaching.  Consistent classes.  Standards for the whole movement.   This way all EFT'ers would speak the same language and innovations could build upon a common foundation.

But, alas, I dropped the ball and, as it stands, there are now hundreds of EFT spin-offs, each reflecting a different set of beliefs and preferences.  No standards whatsoever. They all look something like EFT but underneath they are substantially different, even from each other. Frankly, I don't know whether to gasp or giggle at this outcome.  Conflicts everywhere. What’s a newbie to do?

I suggest, of course, that you learn EFT here ... from the source ... where everything is detailed, consistent and absolutely free.  But, if you wish to explore the spin-offs, you will find them all over the internet.  They tend to use some form of the name EFT or its well known nickname, Tapping, in their titles.

While there are a small handful of exceptions, the vast majority of the promoters have not taken any in-depth training in EFT from the source and, as a result, they put forward "lighter" versions of EFT.

Unfortunately, I have reports that one of these spin-offs has badly traumatized people, including sending some into suicide thoughts.
Obviously, I cannot support or endorse the greater majority of the spin-offs.  I wish I could.  It would help the proper spread of EFT.
e-hugs, Gary

PS:  None of these issues exist with our newest advancement, Optimal EFT.  It is only taught through this website and thus there are no variations using the Optimal EFT name.

The Pros and Perils of EFT Tapping Scripts

Purpose

Pros and Perils of EFT Tapping Scripts
Pros & Perils of EFT Tapping Scripts

This article brings further perspective to those wishing to use pre-written bits of language (Tapping Scripts) that some people use hoping to better aim EFT at their issues. If you have not been exposed to Tapping Scripts, then we invite you to skip this article and move on to 'What can I expect from EFT Tapping'? so that your EFT learning process is not interrupted. Those who have been exposed to Tapping Scripts will benefit from the information provided here before moving forward.

The Pros of this approach center around convenience and the possibility to gain more benefits than what just the EFT Basic Recipe provides.  On the other hand, the Perils include possible traumatization, partial results, misrepresentation of EFT and potentially serious legal issues for those providing them.  These scripts are well meant by their promoters and are at least partially helpful for many clients.  But they are superficial in nature, possibly harmful for some, and should be described as such by their promoters.

I don't mean to be overly dramatic on this as, on balance, using Tapping scripts has produced much more good than harm (my opinion).  However, their risks and shortcomings need to be explored.  Pointers for more skillful approaches are given later in this article as well as throughout the remainder of this Tutorial.

Background

In the early days of EFT, our targets for Tapping rounds were on the general (global) side. It took me years of refining to discover that being more specific would produce much better results, especially for the more complex cases. Meanwhile, EFTers continued to experiment with global approaches, trying to make a difference for as many people as possible.  From this effort, the “Tapping script” was born.

A Tapping script involves predetermined Setup/Reminder language that is designed for the general public to use with the EFT Basic Recipe for relief on a common issue. For instance, a Tapping script for weight loss might start like this...

Even though I feel so bad about carrying all this weight
and I don't think I deserve to lose it...

On the surface the idea makes sense, especially to someone who hasn’t studied EFT or wants the quick relief promised by an approach like this. It appears to be convenient but the potential downside is significant and it doesn’t come anywhere near the professional results we can deliver by an individualized approach.
Mona Lisa EFT Tapping Scripts
Using Tapping scripts is like
trying to paint the Mona Lisa
with a 6 inch wide brush

Tapping scripts are often found in books and on individual websites, designed by practitioners who specialize in a particular issue. There are Tapping scripts for hundreds of issues … from trauma to phobias to OCD to everything else.   Anyone could locate a website that provides these scripts, including a diagram of EFT points and some language to use that seems to target underlying issues. The assumption here is that most people with similar issues will have the same contributing details. But that's a major error.  No two people experience the same details, or in the same way, and thus no Tapping script can reflect the exactness that is often required.  In this regard, using Tapping scripts is like trying to paint the Mona Lisa with a 6 inch wide brush.

The Pros

The allure to these scripts involves a convenience factor wherein a ready made approach is provided that requires no customization or detective work. Just tap on the EFT points while repeating words that someone else provides.  Easy. It’s a one-size-fits-all or “EFT in a Box” approach.  Plenty of script users have reported positive results using this method and I am pleased that this simplistic approach has helped expose multitudes of people to EFT.  While many have benefited, there remain limitations and downsides.  We will cover those next.

The Perils

Those promoting Tapping scripts are attempting to "treat" people that either (1) they don’t know or (2) have issues too substantial for a mere Tapping script to handle.  Accordingly, their “clientele” will eventually include people with severe emotional or physical frailties who are enticed to “try it out.”  These tender souls should not attempt ANY healing method without the presence and guidance of a qualified health professional because abreactions and severe consequences are possible.    As EFT becomes more mainstream, it is inevitable that these issues will surface and lawsuits may emerge against those promoting Tapping scripts.
EFT Tapping Scripts can bring Lawsuits
Professional uses of EFT, such as those discussed in our Gold Standard EFT Tutorial can significantly reduce the exposure to these risks.

In addition, Tapping scripts tend to provide only partial results.  They rarely get to the roots of the issues and thus the true causes of the problem remain active underground.  It is only a matter of time before these weeds show up again and cause clients to conclude that “EFT didn’t work.”  Even worse, these surface approaches can partially clear some aspects of the problem and, in the process, allow buried traumas to emerge and bring about anxiety, nightmares, headaches and the like.  No script is able to handle this unexpected stress and thus these clients may report that “EFT made things worse.”  In reality, though, it wasn’t EFT that made things worse.  It was the erroneous use of a surface approach for a deeper problem.

So, if you are promoting Tapping scripts, please inform your customers of the limits and potential side effects of using an approach like this. Better yet, abandon those Tapping scripts and reduce that risk by moving toward the more professional, individualized EFT approaches offered on this website.  Of particular interest may be our article entitled What Should I Say During the EFT Tapping Process?

The YouTube and Internet Summits Problem

You’ll see this same Tapping script approach used in different forms on YouTube videos, as well as various internet summits and symposiums where one or more practitioners lead an anonymous public through Tapping rounds on whatever issue they choose for the day (like procrastination, deserving happiness, creating abundance, finding your soul mate, or freedom from stress). These global approaches lead people in superficial directions where results are limited and the aforementioned possibility for serious consequences is magnified.

The Solution: Getting to the Roots & Customizing the Process

As a practitioner, it is actually easier to ask the client a few questions and burrow down to the specifics than it is to recite scripts and fumble around when the client’s situation begs for more help.  The process is taught in Part II of our Gold Standard EFT Tutorial.  Even do-it-yourselfers can learn the principles and make greater progress on their issues. It will take a little practice at first but the more you use it, the better you get.  You might start with the Personal Peace Procedure, or ask a few simple questions that point toward Specific Events. Here are some questions that have served me well over the years.
  • When did you first notice the issue?
  • Does it remind you of anything in your past?
  • If you could live life over again, what person or event would you prefer to skip?
As a do-it-yourself-er, if you get stuck, a properly trained professional can help you dig up issues that you couldn't find on your own. Professionals can get additional training to find the hidden issues needed for best results.

REVIEW:

In this article you learned about Tapping Scripts in the EFT process.
  • Tapping Scripts seem to provide convenience, but are quite global in nature and do not provide an individualized approach. For this reason, they do not follow the Gold Standard EFT process.
  • Tapping Scripts and other global approaches can cause harm when used without proper guidance, so if you choose to try them, do so with caution.
  • For the best EFT education possible, avoid Tapping Scripts and other global variations, and stick to the Gold Standard principles taught in this Tutorial.

Tapping Into Wealth

Tapping-Into-Wealth-Emotional-Techniques

Click here To Look Inside the Book

Following in the footsteps of New York Times bestseller The Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner, this book from renowned Tapping expert Margaret Lynch teaches us how to use Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to clear the blocks to achieving greater wealth.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as Tapping, have become a popular tool for realizing personal goals. For many of us, increasing our wealth is one of our greatest ambitions, but also an area where we feel the most stuck because we have limiting fears and beliefs that sabotage our success. EFT uses the fingertips to tap on acupuncture points while emotionally tuning in to negative attitudes and past experiences, thereby clearing the inner blocks to attracting and managing wealth.

Tapping Into Wealth includes QR codes that link to video demonstrations of Tapping techniques. Discover how Tapping can help you release your old views of money and open the door to more wealth than you ever imagined.

To heal a negative emotion feel it fully. Denied feelings are like hungry ghosts that are never satisfied. They keep coming back till they are truly felt, accepted, forgiven and released. Once the old charge of that emotion is exhausted the healing power of forgiveness takes its place.

As you truly feel a negative emotion, without editing it, love will start to flow in. Be on the look out for this love creeping in, and be open to letting it come in. This is the other side of the story, you have not been willing to entertain.

How the Power of Forgiveness Can Heal Your Life

The healing power of forgiveness is the key to peace, health, and happiness. Certain people deemed "unworthy" of forgiveness such as murderers, rapists, ex-spouses, parents, bad children, etc. are often excluded as candidates for forgiveness. No person is innately bad. What they have are deep, unhealed wounds and so do the rest of us.

It takes great learning to realize all people and circumstances are worthy of the power of forgiveness.

I can hear some of you now. "But they don’t deserve to be forgiven after what they did!" Atrocities large and small are calls for help and acceptance. Punishing them does not fix them. It makes them worse, which our failed criminal justice system shows!

You can't heal a negative action with another negative action.

Like many of you my journey through life has been challenging. Like the stock market, I’ve gone up and down to the point where I thought I had LOST IT many times.

My son got into big trouble as a teenager. He could have been put in jail for more years than I like to imagine, because of untrue hearsay. I allowed myself to sink to the level of a bottom feeder!

The way I saw it, my son had been wronged, and I was a bad mother! If I had allowed myself to feel these feelings fully, moving them through me, something magical would have happened as stated above. It did, but only after suffering from my own negative thoughts first.

It didn't take long to realize, I had anger towards my son as well, for allowing this situation to happen. It also needed to be released, not because it was wrong of me to feel this, but because I felt it, and it did not serve me or him. We both had unhealed wounds to heal that this situation triggered. I was ready to go to work to heal this pain through the power of forgiveness.

My son had to release these unfelt emotions in his life. It turned out to be a gift, because it put him on the spiritual path. Now, I ask you...do you think he would have looked inward towards spirituality at seventeen without something traumatic happening to him? Not likely. Over a decade later, he is still committed to his spiritual path.

Suppressing these emotions does not heal them. It just sets you up for them to revisit you.

I'm sure most of you have lived and relived a stressful situation. Yes, you've played it this way and that way to justify your story about it. The victim within wants to stay a victim to hold onto that story, but, it keeps you in your pain. Byron Katie is a great resource to help you take back your power.

For some the story is more important than freedom from the pain. For those who want to heal, movement through physical workout, crying, shaking, walking, etc. helps move the emotion through you. It also sets you up to use the healing power of forgiveness.

So why is the power of forgiveness the key to inner peace.

The healing power of forgiveness is more crucial now than at any other time in recorded history!

What if nothing dramatically changes now that 2016 is past...So what!

You'll experience more inner peace, love, health and happiness in your life. Nothing can replace inner peace! Without it, nothing else matters!

Conclusion:

I consciously try to let new relationships evolve on their own without prejudging them now. The first thing I ask myself when I meet someone new is, "Why did this person come into my life?" You see...all relationships have a common thread. There’s something both parties have to learn from the other to help them grow spiritually. Welcome these new relationships.

Negative experiences have often shaped me more than positive ones, because I was motivated to change them. But through them, I have gained positive force. The power of forgiveness gave me back control of my life, because it took me out of victim mode.

Still burning brightly under the clouds of negativity is your Spirit, just as God created you. It's always been there, waiting to be reunited with your Will, your intuitive, feeling side. The sooner you learn an important source of your power is your Will, the happier and more fulfilled you'll be. Without it, you are like a ship without a rudder. This process is what the great cycle change it all about.

The healing power of forgiveness is all that is needed to heal the unfelt emotions and feelings in your life so you can know true happiness.

How Self-Love Saved my Body From Attacking Itself

Written by Carla M. Sodi

I used to be one of those millions of people in the world that dealt with an autoimmune disorder. I had a crazy immune system, devouring itself from the inside out until I found something that turned my body upside down and calmed the aggression. This allowed me to heal and maintain harmony in all aspects of my life, which included getting over that illness.

After a long inner journey, back to love, I discovered the missing keys that led me to another reality and changed my perception about myself. I found out I was a “Highly Sensitive Person” and I rejected self-love. This discovery was completely life changing!

When I found myself being a HSP, I researched and read a lot about this trait and I tried out so many strategies to help myself reduce these overwhelming and emotional reactions in my daily life.

Tapping became my daily tool to help deal with my emotions and balance my nervous system. I started tapping on any event I could recall and that changed the way I felt about myself and the world around me.

Self-love was the “cure” to heal my inner wounds from childhood from the inside out. Tapping to learn self-love released me from fear of not feeling safe in my own body and opened the door to my inner power.

I was able to let go of all the anger, resentment, frustration, blame and shame I had inside that kept me judging and punishing myself with that autoimmune disorder, As I became a loving mother with myself, taking care of myself in all aspects, I nurtured every cell of my body and symptoms began to reduce.

Tapping for self-love has helped me to accept unconditionally my traits, and faults, strengths and weaknesses, no matter what other people think about me and I started feeling comfortable and at peace with myself. I stopped wanting other people´s approval. As I started approving myself, the disapproval from others were nonsense.

It allowed me to be human so I let go of fighting against myself, and I found the compassion to accept my failures and mistakes and turned them into lessons of growth.

It led me to forgive myself and I gave myself permission to show my vulnerability leaving behind perfection at all times. I stopped pushing down my sensitivity and creativity due to the fear of being rejected, laughed at or ostracized.

Tapping and self-love, plus following the medical treatment, taking my medicine on time, changing my diet and clearing out my mind of the old emotional wounds and limiting beliefs, transforming my emotions, and the effect they had in my symptoms created a huge shift which radically altered my life.

Self-love and tapping made me became responsible for my life so I stopped playing the victim. Now, I am able to recognize I am the source of my own happiness and have the power of election to change so I am creating a whole new “Me,” with passion and faith and a deeper connection with myself.

Self-love gave me the strength to show up in the world with brilliance and I started living my life with creativity and joy. I decided to shine in the world. I let go of keeping myself down and started being seen more, writing more, lecturing and sharing what I’ve learned with others.

I keep on practicing self-love on a daily basis with tapping and other modalities I’ve adopted.

I feel now safe, nurtured, and loved beyond measure. Nothing compares to the lightness and energy I feel by expressing my true self.

KarateChop: Even though I have this bad feeling about myself, the fear, the rejection, the anger and I can still feel it, I accept all my feelings about myself.

KC: Even though I don’t know how to love my self, and I can still see all these toxic emotions inside of me, I accept how I feel about it.

KC: Even though I don’t know how to love and accept myself I chose to learn how to do it.

Eyebrow: I refuse to love myself
Side of eye: I hate how I am
Under eye: I don’t know how to love myself
Under nose: All I want is to destroy myself

Collarbone: It’s not safe to stand out

Under eye: For whom I am
Under nose: But I still want to love myself
Chin: I need love
Collarbone: How can I get it?

TAPPING 9 (Procrastination)

Procrastination

Here’s the thing about procrastination: it just creeps up on you. One minute you’re at the computer working on your latest project; the next moment you’re doing a bit of online shopping and chatting with your friends. It can seriously delay or even derail the plans you’ve mapped out for yourself.

Here’s the thing: procrastination can have deeper roots than you initially realize. You may be tempted to just think of yourself as lazy and undisciplined, but if you regularly procrastinate, it’s worth doing some inner investigation into just why that is. You’ll likely be surprised at what you find, and unlock a new wellspring of productivity and “stick-to-itiveness” in the process!

A short tapping routine to deal with this can be found in my book, “The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living.” Here, I’m going to present an extended version of that routine so you can gain some insight into just why you procrastinate so much.

Tapping varies for everyone: some people just need to do a few rounds to clear the negative emotions that have them all wound up; others need a few more rounds. Whichever the case is for you, it’s always great to go deeper and longer. As you do, take note of any unexpected thoughts or feelings that arise. These can often be used to help you clear your negative attachment to incidents or emotions buried in your unconscious mind that may have been tripping you up without you even knowing it! You’ll also find many more extended tapping sessions here on our blog, our articles site, or in the Tapping Insider’s Club. Please explore, and keep tapping!

A good time to try this routine is when you find yourself delaying any work you have to do by watching TV, doing less important tasks, or generally idling around. Think about what it is you want to accomplish, then start by tapping on the karate chop point, saying:

Karate Chop: Even though I don’t want to ________, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Karate Chop: Even though I’m feeling really stuck and just don’t want to ________, I choose to relax now.
Karate Chop: Even though I don’t want to _______, and I want to do something else instead, I deeply love and accept myself.

Next, move on to the tapping points.

Eyebrow: I just don’t want to do this. . .
Side of Eye: I want to do something else. . .
Under Eye: I feel so stuck. . .
Under Nose: I’m procrastinating as usual. . .
Chin: I wonder why I don’t want to do this. . .
Collarbone: I wonder what might be going on. . .
Under Arm: I just don’t want to do this. . .
Top of Head: I’d really rather be doing something else. . .

Eyebrow: This feeling of being stuck. . .
Side of Eye: This feeling of being really stuck. . .
Under Eye: I want to procrastinate. . .
Under Nose: I’d rather do anything except this. . .
Chin: I wonder why I don’t want to do this?
Collarbone: Should I even do this. . .
Under Arm: Why am I even doing this?
Top of Head: Why am I doing what I’m doing?

How are you feeling? Has your resistance to tackling that chore eased up any? Return to your eyebrow:

Eyebrow: It feels like so much. . .
Side of Eye: I really don’t want to _____________.
Under Eye: I can just do it later. . .
Under Nose: Why can’t I just do it now?
Chin: Why don’t I just do it now?
Collarbone: I just can’t be bothered. . .
Under Arm: Why not?
Top of Head: It’s such a bother. . .

Eyebrow: I feel stuck in the mud. . .
Side of Eye: It’s such a drag. . .
Under Eye: I won’t want to do it later either. . .
Under Nose: I’m going to end up waiting until the very last minute. . .
Chin: And then I’ll be even more frustrated. . .
Collarbone: Why can’t I just do it now?
Under Arm: I don’t want to do it now. . .
Top of Head: I wonder why not?

Pay close attention to any insights that arise during these tapping rounds. If any thoughts come up, continue tapping on those. Once you’re feeling lighter about getting to work, tap in the positive reinforcement.

Eyebrow: This doesn’t have to be so hard. . .
Side of Eye: In fact, it can be quite easy. . .
Under Eye: Even fun. . .
Under Nose: I choose to be clear about this issue. . .
Chin: I know deep inside why I’ve been delaying. . .
Collarbone: And I choose not to let it get in my way anymore. . .
Under Arm: I’m breathing easier about this. . .
Top of Head: I’m letting go of my tension about this. . .

Eyebrow: This might not be the right time to work. . .
Side of Eye: This might not be something I’m meant to do. . .
Under Eye: Or maybe there’s an emotional reason why I’ve been procrastinating. . .
Under Nose: Whatever it is, I choose to be clear about this. . .
Chin: I’m going to breathe my way into knowing. . .
Collarbone: I’m dissolving the blockage between this work and me. . .
Under Arm: It’s not bigger than me anymore. . .
Top of Head: I’m letting go of my worry. . .

Eyebrow: I choose to be clear on what I want to do . . .
Side of Eye: I choose to relax my body . . .
Under Eye: I choose to relax my mind . . .
Under Nose: And get clarity on this issue . . .
Chin: It’s safe to move forward . . .
Collarbone: I’m ready to move forward . . .
Under Arm: And to let go of whatever might be in my way . . .
Top of Head: Letting go of whatever is in my way and getting clarity now.

Take a deep breath . . . and let it go.

TAPPING 8 (Relationship Baggage)

A good relationship can lighten your load and light up your life. A bad one on the other hand, can be ruinous. Worst of all, your experiences in a failed relationship can “carry over” to future relationships, sabotaging potentially wonderful new partnerships. How do we free ourselves of this stagnant, excess baggage so we can freely enjoy the new love in our lives?

This is a topic I address in my book “The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living” through a Tapping routine that helps you free yourself from old hurts. Here’s an extended version of that routine to really help you go deeply into the core of your romantic distress and eliminate anything you’re bringing forward from failed relationships in your past. It can overhaul and save your relationship overnight.

If you suspect that your romantic problems in the past are undermining your current relationship or getting in the way of you finding a new one, then you should really take stock of just how “heavy” your baggage is.

To do this, repeat the following check-in phrase: The baggage from my romantic past is weighing me down.

How do you feel when you say that? Do you shudder or feel a pit in your stomach? Do you feel a pang in your heart? Rate the level of discomfort that arises when you say this phrase on a scale of 1 to 10. If you’re clocking in above a 5, then this is definitely a subject you want to use Tapping to address.

Start by tapping on the karate chop point, saying:

Karate Chop: Even though I’ve got all this relationship baggage, perhaps I can accept myself anyway.

Karate Chop: Even though I’ve gathered all this baggage from all those other relationships, I’m choosing to find a way to put it down.

Karate Chop: Even though I’ve been carrying this relationship baggage with me” it sure is getting heavy” I’m just going to acknowledge that’s what I’ve been doing and accept myself anyway.

Next, move on to the tapping points.

Eyebrow: This relationship baggage . . .
Side of Eye: All those old hurts and fears. . .
Under Eye: The pain and suffering. . .
Under Nose: All those tears. . .
Chin: I’ve been gathering all this baggage. . .
Collarbone: Carrying it with me into every relationship. . .
Under Arm: As a reminder to keep me safe. . .
Top of Head: But, boy, is it getting heavy!

Eyebrow: I’m so afraid that I’m unlovable. . .
Side of Eye: I’m so fearful that I’m going to repeat the old patterns again. . .
Under Eye: Why bother?
Under Nose: I don’t want to be hurt again. . .
Chin: I just can’t handle being hurt again. . .
Collarbone: I can’t deal with the pain. . .
Under Arm: I still feel my past hurt. . .
Top of Head: I want to be free of it. . .

Take a deep breath. How are you feeling? Hopefully you’re releasing some of that baggage already. Are there any feelings, thoughts or flashes of insight coming up as you tap? If so, incorporate them into tapping. Return to the eyebrow:

Eyebrow: All this stuff in my past. . .
Side of Eye: All of this drama!
Under Eye: I don’t want it anymore. . .
Under Nose: It makes me so angry!
Chin: It makes me so sad. . .
Collarbone: I was wronged. . .
Under Arm: But I also made so many mistakes. . .
Top of Head: I can’t go through all of that again. . .

Eyebrow: Relationships seem so difficult. . .
Side of Eye: I know a good relationship takes work. . .
Under Eye: But I don’t want it to be an uphill battle. . .
Under Nose: I just want to love and be loved. . .
Chin: And I don’t want my messy past getting in the way. . .
Collarbone: I just want to let go. . .
Under Arm: I want to feel love again. . .
Top of Head: I don’t want to feel frustrated about love anymore. . .

How are you feeling? You’ll want to repeat these rounds, and even a few of your own, until your frustration subsides and is scoring about a 2 or 3. Tap it all the way down to a zero if you can! Once you’re feeling considerably better, move on to the positive rounds below:

Eyebrow: I am worthy of love. . .
Side of Eye: My past doesn’t have to get in my way. . .
Under Eye: I choose to be ready for love. . .
Under Nose: I choose to leave my baggage in the past. . .
Chin: I’ve learned my lessons in love. . .
Collarbone: I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned to a new relationship. . .
Under Arm: I’m so glad I’ve decided to put down some of this old baggage . . .
Top of Head: I’m ready to travel lighter. . .

Eyebrow: I’m leaving this baggage right here. . .
Side of Eye: I’m not going to carry it anymore. . .
Under Eye: I’m creating space in my life. . .
Under Nose: Space for love to grow. . .
Chin: I’m dumping those toxic feelings. . .
Collarbone: That have been weighing me down. . .
Under Arm: I already feel so much better. . .
Top of Head: I already feel so much freer. . .

Eyebrow: All these old ghosts and memories. . .
Side of Eye: Now I’ve found a way. . .
Under Eye: To put some of these old bags down . . .
Under Nose: I’m ready to travel lighter. . .
Chin: What if I could be excited and curious about this whole relationship thing?
Collarbone: I wonder what possibilities would open up?
Under Arm: I’m so glad I’ve decided to put down some of this old baggage . . .
Top of Head: I’m ready to travel lighter. . .

Take a deep breath . . . and let it go.

TAPPING 6 (The Emotions in Our Pain)

The Emotions in Our Pain

So many of us experience body pains of some sort – back pain, joint pain, neck pain, you name it. Sadly, just as many of us try all kinds of remedies to eliminate these pains, but often with little to no luck at all.

There’s a profound connection between your emotions and physical pain, one that I explore in my book “The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living,” In it, I provide a tapping routine that will allow you to dig deep inside yourself to discover if there might be an emotional source for the pain you’re experiencing. Here, I’m sharing an extended version of that script in the hopes that it may shed some light on this connection and help you heal!

Please explore, and keep tapping!

This process begins with an astonishingly simple premise: that if you just ask your body what’s causing your pain, it will tell you!
It’s really that simple.

Give it a try. Say, “If there’s an emotion in my [name the part of your body that’s bothering you] what is it?”

Don’t second-guess yourself here; whatever floats up into your awareness is what you need to work with. It’s where you need to start. Rate how strong this feeling is on a scale from 1 to 10, and begin by tapping on your karate chop point:

Karate Chop: Even though I have this [insert your emotion here] in my [insert your body part here], I deeply and completely accept myself.
Karate Chop: Even though I have all this ______________ in my ______________________ about what happened, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Karate Chop: Even though I have this ______________ in my ______________ , I choose to release it now.
Next, move to the tapping points.

Eyebrow: All this ______________ in my ______________ . . .
Side of Eye: I’m holding on to so much ______________ . . .
Under Eye: This ______________ about what happened . . .
Under Nose: I can’t let go of this ______________ . . .
Chin: All this ______________ in my ______________ . . .
Collarbone: I have all this ______________ about what happened . . .
Under Arm: All this ______________ . . .
Top of Head: This ______________ in my ______________ .

Eyebrow: I have tried to ignore my ________________ for so long. . .
Side of Eye: This ________________ has just been building up inside of me. . .
Under Eye: I’ve tried everything to stop this pain in my ________________ and nothing ever works. . .
Under Nose: Now I think I know what it is. . .
Chin: I’ve been holding on to this _____________ for so long. . .
Collarbone: It takes up so much of my thought and energy. . .
Under Arm: My feeling of ________________ is weighing me down. . .
Top of Head: I feel so _________________

Are you feeling any lighter? Has your feeling lessened any? Return to the eyebrow.

Eyebrow: It’s too much for me to handle. . .
Side of Eye: I’ve been feeling so ______________ for so long that I forgot. . .
Under Eye: I don’t want to feel ________________ any longer, but I can’t help it!
Under Nose: It’s so overwhelming. . .
Chin: It has become a part of me. . .
Collarbone: Ever since ___________________ I spend so much time thinking about it. . .
Under Arm: What do I have to do to stop feeling so ___________________?

Top of Head: This feeling makes me sick. . .

Eyebrow: I am filled with feelings of _________________
Side of Eye: And it is too much for me to bear. . .
Under Eye: I need to let go of this __________________
Under Nose: But I just don’t know how. . .
Chin: I’ve been carrying around this ________________ for so long. . .
Collarbone: And now it’s making me _____________________
Under Arm: I want this to stop. . ..
Top of Head: I just want this stop. . .

Repeat this routine until you’ve felt this feeling rise and subside. Once you’ve reached a level of calm with which you feel satisfied, move on to the positive rounds below.

Eyebrow: Releasing all this ______________ in my ______________ . . .
Side of Eye: Letting it go . . .
Under Eye: It’s time to let go of what happened . . .
Under Nose: And it’s time to let go of this ______________ . . .
Chin: Letting it go . . .
Collarbone: Letting all this ______________ go now . . .
Under Arm: All this ______________ . . .
Top of Head: Releasing all this ______________ in my ______________ .

Eyebrow: I’m releasing all of this __________________
Side of Eye: I don’t want it anymore. . .
Under Eye: I don’t want to feel this way anymore. . .
Under Nose: This feeling does not define me. . .
Chin: I choose to walk away from this _______________
Collarbone: It no longer has any power over me. . .
Under Arm: I choose to let go. . .
Top of Head: I choose to let it all go. . .

Eyebrow: The more _________________ I let go of, the better my ___________________ will be. . .
Side of Eye: This era is coming to an end. . .
Under Eye: I am ready to be free. . .
Under Nose: I choose to lighten my load. . .
Chin: The _______________ in my ________________ was an indication that I had to let go. . .
Collarbone: So I’m letting go. . .
Under Arm: I’m letting it all go. . .
Top of Head: I’m letting it all go. . .

Take a deep breath . . . and let it go.

TAPPING 5 (Tapping on the Diagnosis)

Tapping on the Diagnosis

There are few things more terrifying than going to the doctor for a potentially life-changing diagnosis. In fact, the only thing worse might be actually getting the bad news you’ve been dreading.
Things can get complicated at this point. Very often, the stress and worry that accompanies your diagnosis can have just as big an impact on your overall health as the illness or injury you’re facing. As such, it’s crucial that you find a way to deal with it.

In my book, “The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living,” I share many Tapping routines to help you deal with common issues so many of us face, one of them being a script to help you deal with a scary diagnosis. Here, I’m presenting an extended version of that script to help you release the negative swirl of emotions surrounding your health.

In the book, I recommend starting your Tapping by using a “check-in” phrase to determine if this particular issue is something you need to work on. The check-in phrase for this routine will vary depending on what you’ve been diagnosed with, but it would be something along the lines of I have [name what you’ve been diagnosed with] and there’s very little I can do about it.

Essentially, you want to acknowledge what the doctor says you have. More importantly, you want to address your beliefs surrounding this diagnosis.

How do you feel when you say this check-in phrase? Rate your discomfort on a scale from 0 to 10, with 10 being “absolutely true” and 0 being “not at all true.” If your truth level is a 5 or more, then this is definitely an issue you want to tackle.

For this routine, we’ll use a diagnosis of a slipped disc as an example, but make sure to use whatever you’ve been diagnosed with when you’re Tapping. Start at the karate chop point:

Karate Chop: Even though I have a slipped disc, I deeply love and accept myself.

Karate Chop: Even though I have a slipped disc, I completely love and accept myself.

Karate Chop: Even though I have a slipped disc, I totally love and accept myself.

Eyebrow: This slipped disc . . .
Side of Eye: This slipped disc in my back . . .
Under Eye: It’s throbbing and painful . . .
Under Nose: The doctors told me I have a slipped disc . . .
Chin: The doctors told me it would always hurt . . .
Collarbone: The doctors told me it would eventually need surgery . . .
Under Arm: The doctors told me it was degenerating and would likely get worse . . .
Top of Head: The only way the pain goes away is if I take pain medication.

Back to the Eyebrow:

Eyebrow: I believe I’ll have this forever and it will only get worse . . .
Side of Eye: This slipped disc in my back . . .
Under Eye: This painful slipped disc . . .
Under Nose: This throbbing, red-hot pain . . .
Chin: I believe it will only get worse . . .
Collarbone: I believe what the doctors told me about my back . . .
Under Arm: The only way the pain goes away is if I take pain medication . . .
Top of Head: This painful slipped disc.

Take a deep breath and check in with yourself. How are you feeling? Rate your feeling on the 0 to 10 scale. Return to the eyebrow. You want to keep tapping until the worry and frustration with your diagnosis has reduced considerably.

Eyebrow: I don’t even know if the medication will work. . .
Side of Eye: I don’t want to get surgery. . .
Under Eye: What if something goes wrong?
Under Nose: What if the surgeons make a mistake?
Chin: I could never afford it. . .
Collarbone: I’m just going to have to live with this pain. . .
Underarm: I don’t want to take medication, but I have to. . .
Top of Head: I don’t know what I’m going to do. . .

Eyebrow: This is going to affect my life in so many ways. . .
Side of Eye: Nothing’s going to be the same anymore. . .
Under Eye: I’m so depressed about this. . .
Under Nose: I can’t believe it. . .
Chin: I just wish I didn’t have a slipped disc. . .
Collarbone: I feel so wounded and weak. . .
Underarm: It’s all downhill from here. . .
Top of Head: I wish I were well again. . .

Keep repeating this routine until your frustration and fear don’t bother you as much. Once you’ve reached a level of calm that you feel satisfied with, move on to the positive rounds below.

Eyebrow: I can fight this. . .
Side of Eye: It means I have some work to do, but I choose to do it.
Under Eye: I’ve been making it much worse in my head. . .
Under Nose: My mood affects how well I feel. . .
Chin: My slipped disc doesn’t have to change my life for good. . .
Collarbone: I can even get a second opinion. . .
Underarm: Even if I have a slipped disc, I might not ever need surgery. . .
Top of Head: I might not need as much medication as I’m thinking. . .

Eyebrow: I need to look after myself better. . .
Side of Eye: I choose to look after myself better. . .
Under Eye: There are different ways I can address my pain. . .
Under Nose: I might consider some alternative therapies. . .
Chin: I might see another doctor. . .
Collarbone: I can deal with this. . .
Under Arm: My diagnosis does not define me. . .
Top of Head: I choose to believe I can heal. . .

Take a deep breath . . . and let it go.

TAPPING 4 (FEELING It’s Not Safe to Change)

There are many times in our lives when we come to a necessary transition point, whether it’s the beginning of a relationship, a new job, or even moving to a new city. While these can certainly be exciting moments, they also can bring with them a great deal of confusion and anguish. Thankfully, Tapping is a wonderful way to address these nagging feelings so that they don’t hinder our progress.

Here’s an extended Tapping script to help you do just that.  “The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living.” It addresses those underlying, often hidden emotions that come with big changes in our lives.

As I explain in the book, it’s always good to start with a “check-in” phrase to determine if this particular issue is something you need to work on. The check-in phrase for this routine is it’s not safe to change.

What does saying this phrase bring up for you? Rate your discomfort on a scale from 0 to 10, with 10 being “absolutely true” and 0 being “not at all true.” If your truth level is a 5 or more, then this is definitely an issue you want to tackle.

This routine will help you shed the discomfort surrounding the change you’re considering or the one that’s already underway. In essence, it will allow you to flow accordingly with what’s happening, instead of sinking further into the state of resistance that’s been fraying your nerves. Start at the karate chop point:

Karate Chop: Even though it isn’t safe for me to change, I’m accepting how I feel.
Karate Chop: Even though I won’t be able to keep myself safe if I make this change, I’m open to a new perspective.
Karate Chop: Even though I’ve been holding myself from making this change because I have to protect myself, I deeply love and accept myself

Eyebrow: It doesn’t feel safe to make these changes. . .
Side of Eye: I won’t know how to protect myself if I make them . .
Under Eye: I know it would be painful . . .
Under Nose: And I want to protect myself . . .
Chin: I’m not sure how to keep myself safe if I make this change . .
Collarbone: It might be really hard to keep myself safe . . .
Underarm: I don’t know if I know how to keep myself safe . . .
Top of Head: I don’t know if I can learn to keep myself safe.

Eyebrow: It feels as if everything is going to go wrong. . .
Side of Eye: I feel stuck. . .
Under Eye: I feel so torn. . .
Under Nose: I’m afraid about what comes next. . .
Chin: Everything might fall apart. . .
Collarbone: Things will never be the same again. . .
Underarm: What am I going to do?
Top of Head: This is bothering me so much

Take a deep breath and check in with yourself. How are you feeling? Rate your feeling on the 0 to 10 scale. Return to the eyebrow. Remember, you want to clear as many of these fearful emotions as possible before we move onto the positive rounds.

Eyebrow: I could lose so much
Side of Eye: Everything feels so unstable. . .
Under Eye: What will people think?
Under Nose: Am I making a big mistake?
Chin: I just want everything to stay the same.
Collarbone: This change is the worst thing ever.
Underarm: I can’t cope with this. . .
Top of Head: Even if it seems OK at first, it could go bad very quickly. . .

Eyebrow: What am I going to do?
Side of Eye: I just want to feel settled. . .
Under Eye: I just want to feel secure…
Under Nose: This isn’t wise of me. . .
Chin: I just wish I wasn’t so anxious. . .
Collarbone: I’m so worried. . .
Underarm: I just want this to end. . .
Top of Head: I just want to be at peace. . .

Has the fear dissipated any? Have your nerves settled a bit? Where does that feeling rank on a scale of 1 to 10 now? If it’s still pretty strong, then you might want to repeat the last few rounds until it comes down a bit. Then proceed to the positive rounds below.

Eyebrow: What if I could be safe and make this change?
Side of Eye: What if I have more resources than I thought?
Under Eye: Perhaps it’s not as hard as I thought . . .
Under Nose: There’s a chance I’m already doing some of it . . .
Chin: Sometimes I do feel more relaxed . . .
Collarbone: Maybe I can find ways to do that more often . . .
Underarm: I can make changes and protect myself . . .
Top of Head: I love feeling my confidence grow daily.

Eyebrow: I’ve been overreacting. . .
Side of Eye: I can be mindful and careful about this change without stressing out. . .
Under Eye: I might even enjoy it. . .
Under Nose: This might be the very thing I’ve been waiting on. . .
Chin: My life might be so much better after this. . .
Collarbone: I can relax into this. . .
Under Arm: I already feel calmer. . .
Top of Head: I can feel the pressure slipping away. . .

Eyebrow: This change might be the best thing that has ever happened to me. . .
Side of Eye: But I won’t know if I don’t see it through. . .
Under Eye: I choose to allow and accept this change with grace. . .
Under Nose: I feel so much more secure now. . .
Chin: I am safe. . .
Collarbone: I am centered and settled. . .
Under Arm: Everything is going to be alright. . .
Top of Head: Everything is just fine. . .

Take a deep breath . . . and let it go.

TAPPING 3 ( What’s Stressing You Out Most?)

What’s Stressing You Out Most?

It seems the world speeds up more and more every day, doesn’t it? There’s more information to consume on a daily basis than there ever was before, and when you combine that with family issues and anything you have to deal with at work, every day can become a burden.

This is to say nothing of the issues outside of our home and work life that affect all of us, be it the economy or terrible tragedies that happen halfway around the world. They all take a toll on us.

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance it’s because you purchased this book, “The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living.” If that’s so, you came here for an extended tapping session to help you deal with these extraordinary stresses, the ones over which you have no control.

First, take a second to think about what’s stressing you out. Is it something you saw on TV or in the newspaper? Something you heard about from a neighbor? Is everyone talking about it at work?

Once you’ve identified it, rate your stress around this situation on a scale from 0 to 10, with 10 being “absolutely true” and 0 being “not at all true.” If you’re at a level 5 or more, then this is definitely something you want to tap on. Start at the karate-chop point:

Karate Chop: Even though I’m stressed out about [fill in the blank with your world issue], I choose to relax now.
Karate Chop: Even though I can’t stop thinking about [fill in the blank with your world issue], I deeply and completely accept myself.
Karate Chop: Even though I’m really worried about [fill in the blank with your world issue], I choose to feel safe now.

Eyebrow: I’m so stressed out about this . . .
Side of Eye: It’s not right . . .
Under Eye: All these problems in the world . . .
Under Nose: They stress me out . . .
Chin: All this worry . . .
Collarbone: All this anxiety . . .
Under Arm: About this problem . . .
Top of Head: And about the world.

Eyebrow: I need to worry about these problems . . .
Side of Eye: If I don’t worry about these problems, who will?
Under Eye: I have to worry . . .
Under Nose: All this worry . . .
Chin: All this stress . . .
Collarbone: Nothing will change unless I worry . . .
Under Arm: Nothing will change unless I stress . . .
Top of Head: All this worry . . .

Has your stress lessened any? Return to the eyebrow:

Eyebrow: Things are getting worse every day. . .
Side of Eye: Where does it end?
Under Eye: I’m worried about the future. . .
Under Nose: It’s never been this bad before. . .
Chin: I don’t know what’s going to happen next. . .
Collarbone: I’m so afraid. . .
Under Arm: I’m so worried. . .
Top of Head: What can I do?

Eyebrow: Everybody should be worried about this. . .
Side of Eye: Yet people are acting like it’s business as usual. . .
Eyebrow: What am I going to do?
Side of Eye: I can’t stop thinking about this. . .
Under Eye: It makes everything difficult. . .
Under Nose: I just want to know that everything is going to be OK. . .
Chin: I just want to stop stressing out about this. . .
Collarbone: But I can’t. . .
Under Arm: It’s just too much. . .
Top of Head: I’m so worried.

Keep tapping until you find some relief, and then let’s do some positive rounds:

Eyebrow: I choose to relax . . .
Side of Eye: I choose to let go . . .
Under Eye: I can relax and still effect change . . .
Under Nose: I can let go of these negative emotions . . .
Chin: And still care . . .
Collarbone: I don’t have to be stressed out to care . . .
Under Arm: I don’t have to be stressed out to effect change . . .
Top of Head: Letting it all go.

Eyebrow: I can be concerned without stressing out about this. . .
Side of Eye: I don’t have to let this derail my day. . .
Under Eye: I can go about my life and still pay attention to what’s happening in the world. . .
Under Nose: I can do it without getting stressed out. . .
Chin: I care about the world. . .
Collarbone: But I choose to be at peace. . .
Under Arm: So I can be at my best to help. . .
Top of Head: I don’t have to let this get in the way of my life. . .

Eyebrow: I choose to be calm. . .
Side of Eye: I choose to be centered and at peace. . .
Under Eye: I choose to lend a hand where I can without losing my center. . .
Under Nose: Everything is going to be OK. . .
Chin: It’s going to be fine. . .
Collarbone: I’m going to do all I can to help. . .
Under Arm: But I’m also going to remain calm and focused. . .
Top of Head: I’m going to continue with my life. . .

Take a deep breath . . . and let it go.

TAPPING 2 (I’m Stressed Out and Overwhelmed)

In the book, I explain that before tapping, it’s good to use a “check-in” phrase to determine if this particular issue is something you need to work on.

For example, this script’s check-in phrase is I’m overwhelmed and have too much to do.

How do you feel when you say that out loud? Rate how heavy the feeling is on a scale from 0 to 10 scale, with 10 being “absolutely true” and 0 being “not at all true.” If your truth level is a 5 or more, then this is definitely an issue you want to tackle.

The tapping script below will help you peel back the layers of stress that have been weighing you down. As always, feel free to use any language that resonates with you to get started. Use this as a guide, but if you can, try to make your tapping session as unique to your circumstances and emotional truths as possible.

Karate Chop: Even though I’m stressed out, overwhelmed, and simply have too much to do, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Karate Chop: Even though my to-do list is a mile long and it’s stressing me out, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Karate Chop: Even though I’m never going to get it all done, and I’m not smart enough to figure all this stuff out, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Eyebrow: I can’t get all this done . . .
Side of Eye: All this overwhelm . . .
Under Eye: I’m feeling so much stress and it overwhelms me . . .
Under Nose: There’s simply too much to do . . .
Chin: I’m overwhelmed . . .

Are you feeling any less stressed? How does that overwhelm rank on the scale from 1 to 10 now? We’re going to get more specific in this coming round, so be sure to use any thoughts or feelings that have arisen in the first few rounds. Return to your eyebrow point:

Once you’re feeling considerably better, you’re ready to move on to the positive rounds. This will help you to replace those negative feelings you’ve just dislodged with positive affirmations about the way you want to feel and what your higher self knows to be true.

Remember, you want this to be a natural progression. If at any time during the positive round your mind outright objects to the words you’re saying, then it’s best to go back to tapping on your negative beliefs until they clear.

Eyebrow: I choose to relax . . .
Side of Eye: I have the resources to get this done . . .
Under Eye: I’ve done it before, and I can do it again . . .
Under Nose: I choose to release this feeling of being overwhelmed. . .

Under Arm: Releasing these feelings of being overwhelmed . . .
Top of Head: Letting them all go.

Eyebrow: I don’t have to give in to these feelings of overwhelm
Side of Eye: There’s a calm underneath it all
Under Eye: I’m ready to tap into it

Under Nose: The tension is disappearing
Chin: I can prioritize and manage everything I have to do
Collarbone: It doesn’t have to overwhelm me
Under Arm: I can handle it all
Top of Head: I’m feeling free of this stress

Eyebrow: I’m getting calmer by the second
Side of Eye: And I choose to ground myself in this peace
Under Eye: I can always find my serenity if I need to

Top of Head: I am free.

Take a deep breath . . . and let it go.

TAPPING 1 (Nothing Ever Works…)

Nothing Ever Works…

If you found this page, it’s probably because you purchased the book, “The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living.” If that’s the case, you’re here for an extended tapping session to help you deal with the nagging feeling that you’ve never been able to reach any of the goals you’ve set for yourself in your life thus far.

You’ll also find many more extended tapping sessions here .

As I outlined in the book, it’s always good to get started with a “check-in” phrase to determine if this issue is something you need to work on.

For example, this script’s check-in phrase is I’m frustrated because nothing ever works for me.

Go ahead and say that out loud a few times, and then rate how true it is on the 0-to-10 scale, with 10 being “absolutely true” and 0 being “not at all true.”

Generally speaking, if your truth level is a 5 or more, it’s probably an issue you want to work on right away.

Remember, these are general phrases and ideas to get you started. If different language fits better for you, or if other ideas come up, feel free to follow your intuition.

Karate Chop: Even though I’m frustrated because nothing ever works for me, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Karate chop: Even though I have a tendency to start something and not finish it, I deeply love and accept myself.

Karate Chop: Even though I’m anxious because nothing seems to work for me, I choose to relax now.

Eyebrow: Nothing ever works . . .
Side of Eye: All this frustration . . .
Under Eye: I’m frustrated because nothing works for me . . .
Under Nose: I’ve tried so many different things . . .
Chin: And nothing ever works . . .
Collarbone: This probably won’t work . . .
Under Arm: This probably won’t work for me . . .
Top of Head: All this frustration . . .

Eyebrow: Nothing ever works . . .
Side of Eye: I start things and don’t finish them . . .
Under Eye: I’m anxious to try anything else . . .
Under Nose: Because I have so many experiences of things not working . . .
Chin: It works for other people . . .
Collarbone: But not for me . . .
Under Arm: All this frustration . . .
Top of Head: All this anxiety and frustration . . .

Take a deep breath and check in with yourself. How are you feeling? Rate your feeling on the 0 to 10 scale. Return to the eyebrow:

Eyebrow: I’m going nowhere…
Side of Eye: I feel as if I’m always stuck in the same place…
Under Eye: My life is stuck on repeat…
Under Nose: I never accomplish anything…

Chin: I should just stop trying…
Collarbone: I’m hopeless…
Under Arm: I’m just so undisciplined…
Top of Head: I don’t have what it takes…

Breathe deeply and take stock of your emotions again. Are you feeling even slightly better? How does your feeling rank on the scale from 1 to 10? Return to your eyebrow point:

Eyebrow: What am I doing?
Side of Eye: Am I ever going to finish anything?
Under Eye: I’m just a wreck…
Under Nose: I’m so flaky….
Chin: No one can depend on me; I can’t even depend on myself…
Collarbone: I’m so undisciplined…
