Why is it that some believers seem to carry an invisible shield?
Why is it that when the storm hits, they are at rest while everyone else is in a panic?
Why is it that their words have weight and their prayers get results while yours feel like they're bouncing off the ceiling?
And I need you to stop and think about this for a moment. Most of us have been taught that these people are just special or that God has favorites. But he reveals a different reality in his book in his presence. He tells us that every outstanding Christian failure and every public spiritual collapse can be traced back to one thing, an empty closet, an unused secret place. You see, Jesus didn't win his battles at the cross. He won them in the secret places of the mountains long before the sun came up.
He was drawing on secret resources that the world knew nothing about. And today you're going to understand how to open that door and access those same resources for yourself.
The concept of the secret place. Kenyan uses a beautiful and almost forgotten word to describe the secret place. He calls it the secret tryst.
Tryst, is rooted in the concept of a secret rendezvous, specifically between lovers.
Now stay with me here because this is crucial. A secret is a private meeting between two people who love each other. It is not a courtroom and it is not a grocery store where you go to pick up your list of demands. It is a place of fellowship.
And in his presence, "The father's heart is hungry for the companionship of his children." Think
1:41 about that for a moment. The creator of the universe, the One who holds the stars in His hands, has his heart hunger for you. Do you see it?
Most of our prayer lives are failures because they are one-sided. We go into our closet because we need something. We need a bill paid. We need a sick body healed. We need a problem solved. We treat the secret place like a spiritual vending machine. But the real truth tells us that the secret place is where you satisfy His hunger. And when you satisfy the 2:13 father's hunger for fellowship, he satisfies your hunger for resources. You don't have to beg for a miracle when you
2:20 are sitting in the lap of the miracle maker. The secret place is where the heavenly fragrance of Jesus begins to
2:28 rub off on you. Kenyan says that when you spend time in that secret place, you carry a scent back into the world.
2:36 People may not be able to name it, but they will feel it. The demons will see it. It is the fragrance of presence. It is the evidence that you have been with the king. Acts 4:13.
2:48 If you are struggling to have authority in public, it is because you have no intimacy in secret. You are trying to spend secret resources that you haven't actually deposited yet. Now, we must address the legal obstacle that keeps most people out of the secret place. It is the courtroom of the soul. Many believers approach the door of the secret place, but they never actually enter. Why? because they are stopped by the grip of the past.
They feel like they are stepping into a courtroom where they are the defendant.
But I want you to hear this clearly. The secret place is not where you go to be judged. It is where you go to witness the fact that the judgment is over. When you sit in that quiet room and the accuser whispers that you have no right to be there, you don't argue with him.
You point to the blood of Jesus Christ. You point to the new creation facts. You realize that the Father is not looking at your performance. He is looking at his Son's performance.
In the secret place, your soul is quieted because the legal debate is settled. If you don't spend time here, the noise of the accuser will follow you all day. But when you stay in the secret place until the sense of unworthiness is gone, you walk out with the authority of a king. The legal boardroom of the spirit.
We must understand that the secret place is a legal environment. It is the boardroom where you transact the business of the kingdom. And here is where most Christians completely miss it. And in His Presence, our ability to stand before Father God is not based on our feelings but on our righteousness. And righteousness is the ability to stand in the Father's Presence without a sense of guilt or inferiority. When you enter the secret place, the accuser wants to follow you. He wants to remind you of your flaws.
But the secret place is a protected zone. It is where you remind your own soul of your power of attorney. You are there as a legal representative of the Lord Jesus Christ. You aren't just chatting with God. You are authorizing the Holy Spirit to move on the earth. The solution of the prayer problem is found here. The problem is not that God isn't listening.
It is that we have not taken our place. We approach the throne like orphans wondering if we are allowed to be there. But the Father sees you as the new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17. He sees you as a joint heir. Romans 8:17.
In the secret place, you learn to speak the language of the Father. You stop speaking the language of the world, which is the language of maybe and hope so.
You start speaking the language of it is written. When you leave this boardroom, you are not guessing if the Father heard you. You have the legal decree in your spirit. You have seen the Judge nod in agreement with the Word.
This is the foundation of all spiritual power. You cannot rule in the world if you have not first stood in the council of the Father. The secret place is where the strategy is given and where the resources are assigned to your name.
Jesus Christ and his secret resources. Let's look at the master in His presence. A staggering claim say that Jesus Christ in his earthly walk did not draw upon his secret resources any more than is possible for you. Read that again in your spirit.
Jesus Christ was the pattern. He didn't use God powers that are unavailable to the new creation. He used the resources of the name, the Word , and the Presence. How did he stand before the grave of Lazarus and command life? John 11:43-44. Spoken Word.
How did he telI the storm to be still? Mark 4:39. Spoken Word.
He wasn't trying to get power in that moment. He was simply releasing the resources he had gathered in the secret place that morning. He had already transacted the business in the spirit realm. The public miracle was just the legal enforcement of what had already happened in private. Can you see the pattern here? Most of us tried to do the opposite. We live busy, loud, frantic lives. And then when a crisis hits, we run into the secret place and try to get prayed up. We try to build a reservoir while the fire is already burning. But Jesus Christ lived from the inside out. His secret resources were so full that the world couldn't deplete him. He could give and give and give because he was constantly refilling in the secret place. Luke 5:16 tells us Jesus Christ withdrew himself into the wilderness and prayed, not once, regularly, habitually.
If your life feels dry, if you feel like you are running on empty, it is because you are trying to live on public knowledge instead of secret fellowship.
You are reading books about him instead of listening to HIM. You are listening to sermons about the secret place instead of entering it. You cannot live on another man's resources. You must have your own.
The mechanics of the name.
In the secret place, you learn the mechanics of the name. Most people use the name of Jesus Christ as a lucky charm or a religious punctuation mark at the end of a prayer.
But that the name is a power of attorney. In the secret place,
8:45you aren't just saying a name, you are wearing a name. You are recognizing that you have been legally authorized to use 8:53 the father's credit, the father's authority, and the father's resources.
But here is the secret. You cannot exercise the authority of the name in public if you have not honored the person of the name in secret. The secret resources of the name are only available to those who walk in fellowship. When you spend time in the secret place, the name of Jesus stops being a word and starts being a weapon. It stops being a doctrine and starts being a reality. You walk out of that closet knowing that when you speak, the Father backs your words. That is the resource that the world cannot give and the world cannot take away.
