find a panacea

Yet there are places in the world where, all along, people have commonly lived to 100 or more without suffering so much as a headache. How do they do it? The answer is simple: through sound dietary habits and balanced, healthy lifestyles. The 50 Secrets of the World's Longest Living People looks at the nutrition and lifestyle mores of the world's five most remarkable longevity hotspots—Okinawa, Japan; Bama, China; Campodimele, Italy; Symi, Greece; and Hunza, Pakistan—and explains how we too can incorporate the wisdom of these people into our everyday lives. It offers each of the secrets in detail, provides delicious, authentic recipes, and outlines a simple-to-master plan for putting it all together and living your best, and longest, life.

Scientists now agree that we could be living around 120 years if we achieved our maximum potential life span.  Living to 120 also means that we can feel and look 30 years-old at 40, 80 years-old at 100, and most importantly, have more energy at whatever age we are. In short, we can stay younger at longer. The good news is that it is never too late to start. Whatever condition we are at now, getting on in years can become biological younger , reverse the damage (if any), keep disease away, and add years with love, if not decades, to our lives.

The "secrets" answer lies, above all,  in what we eat our water. Now, gerontologists  discovered that we actually slow down or even reverse the aging process, appear and feel younger, prevent diseases with right diet, together with proactive lifestyle such as daily walking barefooted in the sun and avoiding undue stress, living moment by moment by inspirations.

Amazingly how reluctantly people are to accept this simple truths. No thought/memory/intention is truth, Only Divine Inspiration is Truth.

Today, none of pharmaceuticals companies with million dollars methods, which include injecting human brains with stem cells , developing (so-called) 'miracles'drugs, and trying to isolate the "gene for aging," has yet been proven to work. Isolating an aging gene seems a particularly simplistic approach, since studies show that genetic inheritance is influenced by environmental factors. To date, no panacea has been found or drug-created that can slow aging anymore effectively than the natural substances that are found in our food from the soil. Produce, natural longevity preserver.

The World's Longevity Hot Spots

Okinawa, an island in Japan.

Symi, an island in Greece.

Campodimele, a village in southern Italy.

Hunza, a valley in northwest Pakistan.

Bama, a county in southern China.

The secrets behind these population's exceptional very good health and robust longevity are some common sense , diet and lifestyle habits are all there is to it. Delicious, fresh, locally grown and caught foods, an active daily lifestyle, plenty of outdoor fresh air and a positive approach to life's daily mundane activities are the factors that give these people their edge.

At the absolute minimum , we should eat five portions (preferably ten) of fresh fruit and vegetables each day. Walk (preferably barefooted) at least a minimum for two hours each day.

The Hidden Messages in Water

The Hidden Messages in Water

The Power of Being Positive

Overview
As we go about our daily tasks (school, work, etc.), it is inevitable for us to encounter situations that may be overwhelming or frustrating.  Usually, these types of situations may elicit negative responses.  Although a negative response may be typical, it is important for us to understand that something as simple as maintaining a positive attitude can help us through tough times.  In the book, The Hidden Messages in Water, this idea is discussed in detail, while highlighting the power of words.

   Our Connection With Water
“The average human body is 70 percent water” (Page xv).

“We start out life being 99 percent water, as fetuses.  When we are born, we are 90 percent water, and by the time we reach adulthood we are down to 70 percent.  If we die of old age, we will probably be about 50 percent water.  In other words, throughout our lives we exist mostly as water” (Page xv).

The Experiment
Dr. Emoto and his associates exposed water to positive and negative words, expressions, and music.  Subsequently, they froze the water and photographed the crystals that formed.  This experiment provided concrete visual evidence of how water reacted to both positive and negative energy.

“Water exposed to ‘Thank You’ formed beautiful hexagonal crystals, but water exposed to the word ‘Fool’ produced crystals similar to the water exposed to the heavy metal music, malformed and fragmented” (Page xxv).

Before and After

Lake water before positive words are used.

Lake water after positive words were used.

What does it all Mean?
“Modern researchers have shown that the condition of the mind has a direct impact on the condition of the body” (Page xvi).

Since we are made primarily of water, and since water can be influenced by positive and negative energy, maintaining a positive attitude (and exuding positive energy) can directly impact our whole being.

A Family’s Experiment
“A family that subscribed to our magazine conducted an experiment.  They put rice in two glass jars, and every day for a month they said ‘Thank you’ to one jar and ‘You fool’ to the other, and then they tracked how the rice changed over the period.  Even the children, when they got home from school, would speak these words to the jars of rice.

After a month, the rice that was told ‘Thank you’ started to ferment, with a mellow smell like that of malt, while the rice that was exposed to ‘You fool’ rotted and turned black” (Page 65).

Conclusions
Being positive means focusing on the good things that happen in our lives, rather than on the things that make us mad or upset, or don’t go the way we like.

Thinking positively has a major impact on how we feel, the things we do, and what we say to others.

Even though we all have not-so-good days, remaining positive helps us through.

When we focus on the negatives all the time, we may feel exhausted, unmotivated and “blah” – the opposite can be achieved by focusing on the positives.

Positive words, positive actions, and positive thoughts all result in positive energy (vibrations).

“The vibration of good words has a positive effect on our world, whereas the vibration from negative words has the power to destroy” (Page xxv).

Reflection
Take some time to think about a recent experience of your own that was negative or one in which you responded in a negative way.  How could you have changed your way of thinking to make it positive?

“The life you live and the world you live in are up to you” (Page 52).

What is EMOTO PEACE PROJECT?
The peace project goal is to educate the truth of water to children all around the world by distributing picture book of THE MESSAGE FROM WATER to children for free. We would like to share a clue to realize world peace that we learned through the research on water in an enjoyable way.

The surface of this planet earth is 70% water, and we human beings are also 70% water. We are mostly water. So, it is very essential that all children learn about water. Through THE MESSAGE FROM WATER, Children will learn that we reflect our self in water and in our surroundings. An attitude of Love and Gratitude can change us and so the entire world will be a sustainable and beautiful place for all beings.

Its intended age is from 3 - 12 years old. In another 20 years or so, we hope that they will be leading the earth in a favorable direction. What we adults can do now is to give them a chance to learn about the water and the true nature of us human being. We hope that the book, THE MESSAGE FROM WATER, will be translated into many languages and be of help to realize the goal.

We adults must minimize the damage done to the earth till then.

Why children?

Children are pure. If we give them a chance to learn about water and the true nature of us human beings, they will grow with the right knowledge to be a good person with the attitude of love and gratitude. We hope that children will lead the earth in a favorable direction in 10 to 20 years from now. We hope that the book, THE MESSAGE FROM WATER, will be translated into many languages and be of help to all children around the world.

Message from Masaru Emoto
The vision of EPP is to distribute the children’s version of ‘Messages from Water’ entitled THE MESSAGE FROM WATER to children all around the world, free of charge.  ‘Messages from Water’ contains water crystal photographs and the book’s message has received wide support from all over the world for many years.
For a long time the world has been in a difficult situation where people don't understand why it is the way it is. We are still far from global peace. In my opinion, one of the most important reasons why the world is in such a state is a lack of fundamental education. What is life? What is it to be human? For what do we exist? It is essential that our education systems provide these philosophical teachings.
After twenty- five years of researching water, I have come to believe that the answer to the above mentioned issue is in water. Everyone must agree that water is the source of everything but even modern science has not yet fully understood water. Consequently, we do not have much education on water at school. Children, therefore, do not have much knowledge of or interest in water.
When asking the question “What is life?”, we first need to understand water, because without water, it is impossible for there to be life or to maintain life. Children’s school books across the world however, are based on science. There is therefore very little explanation on the importance of water.
Photographs of water crystals seem to show the essence of the water. Unfortunately, many scientists have not yet acknowledged this technology. It will be some time until these photographs are used in school textbooks. Until photographs of water crystals appear in school text books, I would like to distribute my children’s books with sincere cooperation of people around the world.
The distribution of my books began in Japan in 2006. This movement is slowly spreading throughout the world. Thanks to my precious supporters in each country, there are over 28 countries where “The Message from Water” is being distributed.
My wish is to distribute it to at least ten percent of children in the world since I believe this book will convey to children the truth about water. Understanding the truth of water, loving it, and appreciating it, we can, together with children, make the world the peaceful place.
I would be extremely grateful if you could understand my vision and goal, and support our work to achieve this with us together.
Thank you very much for your attention.
With love and gratitude,

   Experiments with Words
As people learn that water reacts happily when we show or say good words to water and it reacts in a negative way as we show or say negative words, many children in many different countries have done various experiments.  Below are some examples:
*** Rice Experiment ***

In the photo, left to right, they are “Thank you”, “You fool”, and “Ignored”.

*** Flower Experiment ***
Rebecca got 3 pots of same size and same color. She wrote “I love you”, “I hate you”, and “Ignored”, and put them on the pots, and she said each words to the flowers every day. She took photos of the flowers every day for 30 days.
She did not give any water during these 30 days of experiment. You can see the results clearly even with flowers.

Some children have sent us their thoughts after doing the experiments. They all learned that positive words affect positively and negative words affect negatively to their surroundings. After the experiments, they will want to use good words. They will want to say “Thank you” to everyone and everything. They will want to change the world in a better way!
You can find more experiments and results done by different people around the world in YouTube.

"Do No Harm" By Dr. Yoshitaka Ohno

Do No Harm
By Dr. Yoshitaka Ohno

Giving people hope in order to enjoy a healthier, longer, and fuller life has been Dr. Yoshitaka Ohno’s mission since he left his medical practice in Japan over 20 years ago. He knew he could not practice the kind of medicine that was causing so much suffering to his patients. Japan’s medical system had become much like other western systems. It involves mostly drugs and surgery. It supplies misery rather than hope.

Dr. Ohno’s journey away from conventional medicine led him to what his mother called "humanitarian medicine." It allowed him to bring together six generations of medicine from his father’s family, and six generations of spiritual leadership from his mother’s family. He felt very fortunate to be the product of what has led him to mind/body/spirit medicine. This new medicine is based on having a close relationship with nature. Unless we pay attention to our natural environment and respect it, there will be no life left for our future generations. We are already killing nature. Soon it will be too late.

This book is the story of one doctor’s struggle to live his vision of humanitarian medicine. It is a journey through the pain of modern medicine, and the arrival at a new way of offering hope to people who are suffering.

DO NO HARM

by Yoshitaka Ohno, M.D., Ph.D.

The Story of a Doctor's Struggle to Live His Vision of Humanitarian Medicine

She looked at me calmly. She was almost too calm. She had surrendered herself totally to her decision. There was no fear in her voice or in her eyes. She was resolved in her conviction to die. She got up from her bed and closed the door quietly, wanting privacy so no one else in the hospital would hear.

"Please help me die, Dr. Ohno. Please show mercy and help me die. I have asked you to stop giving me the anticancer drug. I can't take it anymore! I know you don't want to watch me suffer. Every time you inject me with this drug, I know you are also suffering as you watch me suffer. The other doctors have always ignored me while I struggled with the agony. But your eyes have always shown me such concern. You are the only doctor who has shown me such compassion."

When I decided that my patients were being given too much of a dangerous drug, I decreased the dosage. But other doctors on the staff would change my order and raise the dosage without notifying me, because they knew that would make them look good to the Chief of Medicine.

She continued to talk to me as if I were her son. She stopped and took another sip of her tea. During the silence, I started thinking about what she was saying. It was true that I was struggling and I was showing the fatigue from my internal battle. I was not sleeping well. As tired as I was, I would lie in bed, unable to sleep. Then I would get up and sit at my desk. I would think about her and how I could help her. I often thought to myself, "Why did I become a doctor?"

When I first became a doctor, I seemed to be able to find ways to help my patients. But now, instead of being a healer, I felt more like a murderer. I knew my struggle would continue if I didn't find a better way to help my patients like her, who continued to suffer the pain and indignity of a death that I was causing.

As I watched this woman collapse in sobs while she continued to plead, a part of me was dying. But I knew that I now had to present her with the cruel facts. I spoke to her with tears in my eyes, as honestly and kindly as I could.

"Your cancer has already metastasized through your body, even to your brain. I am sorry but I am recommending that you go to hospice because there is nothing more we can do. The damage is irreversible. The more chemotherapy you are given, the sooner you will die. This drug not only kills cancer cells, but also destroys the healthy cells. You need to stop because the side effects are worse and are causing too much suffering."

Just then the Chief of Medicine of the hospital entered the room. He must have heard me because he said, "Dr. Ohno, I will take care of this patient. I can help her. Please have this patient signed over to my care."

The Chief of Medicine looked firmly at the suffering patient and began. "Dr. Ohno is right, but I think I can save you with a new drug I developed. It is still in the experimental stage, but it kills only cancer cells and has no side effects"

His words were totally unexpected by her. Her expression went from despair to hope. She began to cry with tears of joy. The Chief of Medicine stood there with the same arrogant and smug look I had come to know since arriving at the hospital. However, despite the deep emotion of hope that filled the room, I was both sad and angry. I knew that his anticancer drug had very strong side effects and would cause this poor woman even more suffering.

This was the first of what was to prove to be many rude awakenings for me. After years of medical school and training, of struggling to find humane ways to treat people, I was now facing the grim reality of having to allow my superior to treat patients as though they were experimental animals. It was obvious that he had no empathy for terminally ill people. I wanted desperately to step in and disagree, but I knew it would be futile and would spell the end of my medical career.

As I watched my patients suffer in agony from taking anticancer drugs, I was experiencing my own torment as well. I was becoming consumed with the memory of my mother's words to me after my father's death. The memory of that tragic period of my life started to overwhelm me. My father was a very famous surgeon who died when he was 42 years old. He worked long and hard to keep his hospital operating at its peak. His dedication cost him his life. He died of an aneurism during surgery.

This book is about the times in my life when I had to encounter many struggles in order to gain greater insight and appreciation of the final outcome. While I report the horrors I experienced during my years of practicing medicine in Japan, I also show how I was able to find a way to answer the cries of despair of my patients. This was not easy. It required that I make a decision that would put me at risk and force me to leave my practice. But during this process, I learned to become a better doctor, more concerned about the welfare of my patients rather than the rewards of fame and fortune, which, unfortunately, have become the driving force of modern medicine.

I did not have to take this road. It would have been easier to follow the program and do what my superiors told me to do. I come from a very prominent family in Japan and have always had choices and opportunities. But the values given to me by my family led to my decisions, which, though distressing at first, brought me to what I believe is my destiny.

I believe that there has always been an invisible force within me, guiding my direction and encouraging me to discover my true calling in life. As I have proceeded on my journey, there is one principal factor that has continually surfaced. This factor is contribution, the act of giving to others, directly from one's heart. This affects not only the recipient, but something of equal importance: the essence of our being.

I also believe, more than anything else, that my mission to help humanity is derived directly from giving people the awareness of how vitally important contribution is to the soul of the benefactor. My vision has become a vehicle that can assist people to gain an understanding that, as they direct their energies to give of themselves with a pure and open heart, they will ultimately fill an emptiness that resides deep within their spiritual center.

Through years of study and experimentation in seeking better ways of delivering good health care, I found the significant interrelationship between health and nature, and its impact on the quality of life. The best example is our precious water supply. After you read this book, you will become more knowledgeable about water; all water is not the same. You will learn that the quality, content, and even the structure of the water in your body can make the difference between sickness and health.

In order to test this theory, I tested many water sources. While I was conducting research in Japan, I discovered a naturally magnetized water that was being used by a prominent physician with his patients suffering from serious diseases, many which I had also been treating. As I observed and studied these patients, it became apparent that this water was unique and had therapeutic benefits.

We think of the human body as ...

Yoshitaka Ohno, M.D., Ph.D., Founder and President

Ohno Institute on Water and Health

Dr. Ohno is a native of Osaka, Japan, where he received his education and training in medicine and neuropathology. Early in his medical career, he began searching for ways to stop the suffering of his patients with diseases that could not be treated successfully by standard medicine, and thus had to be managed with multiple drugs. He began to realize that the side effects of these drugs were creating serious chronic problems, as well as increasing the body’s deterioration. After extensive study he became convinced that the condition of the body’s water was directly related to the state of the body’s health.

After leaving his medical practice, he continued his studies but found that the Japanese medical community was not placing much emphasis on chronic diseases found commonly among the aging population. He decided to enter the United States and accept a position at AMC Hospital in Denver, Colorado, where he could continue his research in geriatric pathology, including MRI studies on the relationship of water and cellular degeneration. His work led him to investigate the neuropathology of Alzheimer’s disease. As a result of his work, he received the Community Leadership Award from the Colorado Alzheimer’s Association in 1987 and the Humanitarian Award from the Alzheimer’s Disease International in 1993.

After returning to Japan in 1990, he discovered a naturally magnetized water that was being used by a prominent physician to treat serious, life-threatening diseases. As these patients recovered, Dr. Ohno became convinced that this water was unique. He pursued numerous clinical studies with this water, both in Japan and the United States. In 1998, Dr. Ohno founded the Ohno Institute on Water and Health, a non-profit research and education center for studying the effect of naturally magnetized water on health and aging. He has been requested as a speaker at several health conferences and has published several articles in professional journals on his findings.

Dr. Ohno resides with his wife and three children in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

I noticed that there were very few books about
water and health. Even in Japan there were many books in bookstores about water.  Perhaps it is bacause water in Japan is such a precious commodity that there is much more awareness of water and the environment.  In this nation there seems to be a little interest about the importance of clean water in our bodies.  It is no wonder that people continue to get sick easily and don't know why.  Even when people are aware of the dangers of water contamination, they do not know about the effect water has on the human body.

We think of the human body consisting of muscles, bones and nerves.  But everything in our body is made up of almost all water.  Our body is made up of 70% water, for average size adult. Too much of our health education is about drugs and the effects certain drugs have on the body. This is based on Solid Paradigm. How often do we hear about water and its effects on our health?  All the foods we eat consist of water.  Good water produces good crops that keep us healthy.  When we eat vegetables that have been grown in a contaminated field from chemicals and polluted soil , we are nor providing our body with nourishment, but poison. When we eat poultry, beef, pork or fish that has been contaminated from a poor water source, are we not poisoned as well?

The awareness in this nation is slowly growing.  Since so little is taught about the importance of water in the human body, it is easy for people to contaminate their bodies without being aware of what they are doing.  Since we are the unity of a mind-body-spirit relationship, it makes sense that not only is our body contaminated by poor water , but our mind and our spirit as well.  When we do not take proper care of our body hydration, the body cannot remain in a balanced state. water helps balance our body, and when we are balanced physically, our emotions are much more stable.  We become less irritable and angry, and our spiritual energy is much more alive.

  "Danger Past, God Forgotten"

It is amazing to me that is usually takes a life crisis for people to wake up and understand how vital water is . Most people ignore how important our water resources are until they experience  a problem in their life.  The earth is also made up of 70% water. But 94% of our water supply is salt water.  Only 6% of our earth's water is fresh water. Of this 4% is in the form of glaciers.  This leaves approximately 2% fresh water on earth for human consumption.  If we continue to ignore water as the very precious commodity it is, we are in danger of destroying not just our bodies ; we are in danger of also destroying our home planet, Earth.

Many people have called me the "Water Doctor" , saying that all i know is water. All I want to talk about is water.  I try to be understanding, but without knowledge about the importance of water, my words sound too simplistic  to have any merit.

I had gotten used to people laughing at me and telling me that my ideas are not reality.  I am used to the feeling of alienation and exclusion, so attempts to discourage me have not affected my determination. I continue to focus on the benefits of the water I discovered, and I tell people about this water anytime I have the opportunity to do so.  Usually, when I meet someone witha health problem, or they tell me about someone in their family witha health problem, they say they have tried every kind of conventional medical treatment available. But after seeing no improvements, they have lost hope.  I am always eager to help them.  I will explain the special qualities of the water , and how the water I discovered here can help them.  When I get this opportunity , people will isten to me.

One day a woman visited the health center because she was looking for a good facility to care for her sister who had Alzheimer's disease.  She toured the facility but was terribly disappointed when she realized she would not be able to afford the cost of care.  I was very impressed with her devotion to her sister, and I took a few minutes to talk to her about her sister's state of health.

" I understand that your sister is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. I supposed that even though you have tried to do a good job in taking care of her at home, her symptoms are getting worse.  I can see that you look very tired from the strain of taking care of her.  I would like to tell you something that can help your sister.  It is naturally magnetized water.  I have had good results giving this water to Alzheimer's patients,: I explained to her.

"Doctor Ohno, I have tried everything I can think of !  I cannot afford to bring my sister to health center and I cannot take care of her by myself anymore.  Let me try your water and see if at least this helps her.  Any improvement to her health will be appreciated !"

I delivered a case of the water to her home the next day. i instructed her to have her sister drink one bottle of water each day and to record any differences she saw in her sister's behaviour.

After one month, she reported that her sister's cognitive functioning had improved.  Her eyes no longer looked dull, but sharp and alert. Her appetite had improved dramatically and she was able to walk much better.  After two months of drinking the water daily, she again began to distinguish people and recognize who they were!

"Who am I ?" she asked when she and her sister visited me.

"You are my sister !" she answered.

"Doctor Ohno ! I cannot tell you what it means to me to have my sister recognize me again !  I have to tell you, i was really skeptical before trying your water . I am so glad you approached me and told me about your water !  I need you to explain what is happening to my sister and why this water is able to help her. "

" I am so happy that your sister is improving so nicely ! Thank you very much for asking this question ! It has not been often since I came here that someone has wanted me to explain to them about this water . I believe that this water can help people with any disease, not just Alzheimer's !

I answered her as simply as I could.

"There are 100 billion cells in the human brain, and the brain is made up of 90% water. One of the reasons Alzheimer's disease occurs is because of contamination of the water which composes the brain.  When the brain cells become contaminated, they lose electrons.  the brain cells then cease to function and they cannot send the information correctly.  This happens because the contaminated cells become disorganized and unstable.  SO the signals that normally create impulses that travel from one cell to another cell are no longer  in a stable environment and are unable to transfer information correctly.  My theory is that if we can improve the water in the brain, we can improve the responses of the brain.

The reason why naturally magnetized water helps to improve cognitive functioning, like memory, is because the water is highly organized. Once this water enters the cells of the brain, the cells become organized and the impulses once again connect.  Keep in mind this is a very simplistic explanation  , but it helps to give you an idea as to why the water is helping your sister."

She was very surprised to hear my explanation. " I would never have believed your theory until I saw the results ! I am a chemist and I can see where the quality of the water would definitely impact the functioning. I just have never really thought it would affect it to that extent! "

"If you were not a chemist then perhaps you would not have understood my idea, I responded."

"Doctor Ohno, if you have so much trouble getting studies done at Health Center here and they do not appreciate  what this wonderful water could do for their patients, why don't you open up your own clinic ? Just think of the people you could help ! "

I was so appreciative of her suggestion. I had met very few people who were as kind and understanding as she was.  The compassion she had given to her sister , and the concern she was extending to me was heartfelt.

I Am Only Giving Them The Water

Chapter Seven

The Living Waters of Japan's Ancient Magnetic Mountain

Throughout the history of religions and legends, two things are always held sacred - mountain and water.

The mountain is home to the gods of mythology, and where Abraham, Moses and Mohammed sought and found God.
Water has purified and healed. It is the eternal symbol of life.

Destiny Leads Me to a Tofu Restaurant in Kyoto And My Search is Over

On a cold day one year after I returned to Japan, I decided to visit Kyoto.  Kyoto is one of the most popular Japanese tourist attractions.  It was the home of ancient Emperors and is still one of the most beautiful cities in the world.  I went to Kyoto for no particular reason, other than to relax and enjoy.

The cold wind had set in under my skin, and hot tea and tofu was what I needed to warm up. Being unfamiliar with Kyoto, I asked the taxi driver, " I am from Osaka and have just arrived. Can you take me to a restaurant that has the best tofu?"

"I know just the place! " he said.

As we were driving along I expected him to drive me to an expensive restaurant in one of the more exclusive parts of Kyoto.  But when he stopped in front a small building that resembles a run down house rather than a good restaurant, I asked him if he had misunderstood my request.  I had an unpleasant feeling when I looked at the old structure.  I saw in the backseat, hesitating to get out of the taxicab.

"Here we are! This is the restaurant you wanted !" the cab driver said.

"Are you sure they have good tofu here? This doesn't look very promising to me!"

"You said you wanted good tofu and this is by far the best tofu in all of Kyoto, and maybe all of Japan!  Every taxi driver knows about this place and they would have brought you here as well.  I know this place is not fancy, but if you really want the 'best' tofu, I have brought you to the right place."

"What makes the tofu so special here?  What makes it different from the other good restaurants in Kyoto?"  I asked.

"I have no idea. I just know it is the best.  Ask anyone in Kyoto.  But if you prefer, I can take you to another restaurant if that makes you feel more comfortable," he offered.

"No, you don't have to take me to another place.  You have my curiosity now by your high recommendation , and I would very much like to try the tofu here and taste the 'best' tofu in Kyoto!"

I paid the cab driver and went into the small restaurant. i was very surprised to see that the place was packed. I would have an hour wait before I was seated.  After the waitress guided me to my table, I scanned the menu she has given me.  There was nothing special about the small menu.  Everything on the menu was tofu cooked in various ways. I ordered some tofu and waited patiently for my food.

When I looked at the tofu on my plate I immediately noticed that the tofu looked shiny and smooth like a silk cloth.  I had never seen such a good-looking tofu before.  I hesitated for a moment before I put the first bite into my mouth. From the looks of this tofu, perhaps the cab driver knew what he was talking about!  But the proof would be in the taste. I closed my eyes and concentrated on mmy first bite.

"Wonderful" I shouted. "Tis is wonderful tofu!"

I looked around the restaurant to see if anyone was looking at me and thinking I was crazy.  I found myself yelling again with delight after my first mouthful of the most delicious taste I had ever experienced . i could not believe the silky texture and the deliciously smooth taste.  I was actually making a spectacle of myself as I kept announcing to everyone how delighted I was to taste this wonderful dish!

My waitress had come back to my table to make sure everything was all right.
"Excuse me, sir, is everything all right with your order?"

"Yes! Yes! This is the most delicious tofu I have ever tasted!  I need to talk to the owner of the restaurant !  Please tell him I would like to see him now!"

"Yes sir." The waitress looked a little bewildered, but left the room to find the owner. In a few moments a concerned looking man approached my table.
"Yes, I am the owner of this restaurant.  Is there a problem here?  Are you displeased with your order?" he asked.

"No! No! There is not a problem with my food! I wanted to tell you that I have never had such a delicious tofu in all my life!  I have never seen such a beautiful texture, so silky and so smooth!  Your tofu was recommended to  me because it was the  best, but I had no idea that your tofu would be this delicious! I am delighted with the taste and I wanted to ask you how you make this tofu so special.  I know there are only a few ingredients in tofu and I'm trying to figure out what you do to make it so different from the tofu I have eaten before!"

I was obviously very excited and it was difficult for me to hold back my enthusiasm.  The restaurant owner looked at me cautiously. he did not answer me immediately because he was looking me over and no doubt wondering if there was something wrong with me.  I asked him if he could take a few minutes and sit down with me so I could explain to him who I was and why I was so interested in his tofu.  Even though the restaurant was  very busy, he kindly accepted my request and he sat down to listen.

After introducing myself and explaining why I was so curious about the tofu, he relaxed and asked me to calm down. He said," Dr. Ohno, I see you are excited, but please calm down so I can answer your questions!  It is the water, a very special water that has made this tofu so good.  Tofu consists of 90% water ; it is not a solid substance even though many people think of it as being solid.  because the water we use is a special water with very fine qualities, our tofu is exceptional to taste!  This is not only true for tofu, but also for vegetables and fruits or even fish and meat. Anything that has water in it tastes better when the quality of the water is pure!"

"Both the ingredients and the water source for the tofu are from japan. The soy is grown with this water to make the tofu. This is why this tofu is so delicious and different!"

My head was spinning with excitement and my heart was pounding as he talked about a special water that was so pure.
"Where do you purchase this water?  Where does it come from ? This is very important that I know!"

Again my excitement cause him to ask me to calm down. But I couldn't ; I know in my heart that I had been guided to this restaurant that day to find this water.  I was fond of tofu, but never before had I wanted tofu so much that I would ask a cab driver to recommend a good tofu restaurant to me! It seems as though I had been gently guided by some invisible force to have a craving for tofu that day so I would come here to learn about this special water.  This would be too much of a coincidence for this water no to be the water I had been searching for.  My excitement could not be contained.

"Dr. Ohno! Please , calm down! After  you finish your meal, we can sit somewhere quietly and I can give you more information about where this water comes from!"

After I finished my tofu I joined him at a quiet area in the back. The waitress brought us both some tea and he proceeded to explain to me the history of this water.

" I discovered this water through my uncle.  My uncle had been a cigarette smoker and he was suffering from lung cancer. When he was diagnosed with lung cancer, the doctor said that the only alternative he could recommend was chemotherapy. So my uncle started with chemo treatments , but the side effects were so strong that he could not bear it.  He finally asked his doctor to stop the chemotherapy.  Hos doctor told him that if he stopped the treatments, he would have no chance of surviving.  But my uncle was a stubborn man and he did not want to continue with the treatment any longer.  So finally the doctor agreed to discharge my uncle from the hospital."

"After he left the hospital his symptoms became worse.  he had to do something to help himself, so he turned to Oriental medicine. One day a friend advised him to visit a doctor who treated end-stage cancer patients. It seemed this doctor gave his patients a special water.  After drinking the water for a period of time, their cancer would go into remission.  His friend gave him the name of the doctor and told him the hospital where he was practicing."

"So, with nothing to lose, my uncle went to the hospital to find this doctor.  Soon after  meeting with the doctor, he was given this water. In a short time, his condition dramatically improved! His appetite, which had all but vanished , was back once again.  My uncle was able to eat and started to gain weight. The tumors on his lung began to shrink, until eventually they were gone!"

" I know this is a difficult story to believe, but it is true! At first it was very difficult for me to believe that my uncle was cured by drinking water! If it had not been that this happened to my own uncle, who I know very well and witnessed his healing, I know I would not trust someone who would tell me such a far-fetched story.  Six months after my uncle started drinking the water his lung cancer was in remission! Amazingly,Dr. Ohno, this is a true story."

" Tell me, Dr. Ohno, what do you think about this story?"

I told him that I believed what he told me was possible and I trusted that this water could have special properties that aided in the healing of his uncle's lung cancer.  He was happy to see that I believed his story.  He went on to say, "I have tried to explain this story to many of my friends, and even though they know me very well, they find it difficult to believe me.  In order to further prove this to myself, I decided to drink this water, because I had hypertension and diabetes.  I thought that if the water could help my uncle with lung cancer, perhaps it could help with my health problem as well.  Every day, I had to take medication  for my high blood pressure, and insulin for my diabetes. Shortly after I started to drink this magnetized water, my blood pressure dropped from 180/120 to 120/78 !  My glucose level dropped from 300 to where it is now at 120 ! I will always drink a bottle of this water every day to maintain my health."

" I have also discovered that I experience more energy that I did before ! It used to be difficult for me to get up in the morning because I was always so tired.  Now, even if I go to bed after midnight, I wake up in the morning between 5-6 AM feeling refreshed.

After taking a break and sipping some  more tea, the restaurant owner continued with his story.

"After my uncle and I had such a good experience with this water, I thought of the idea of using this water for cooking in my restaurant. I knew that because tofu was made up of 90% water, that the purity of the water would make a big difference in the taste and the quality of the tofu.  So, I started using the water in my restaurant and I never said anything to anyone about it.  But within a short period of time, I had a great increase in business. People from all over have come to taste our tofu!"

His story intrigued me and I wanted to learn more about the water. I also wanted to meet the doctor who was administering the water to his cancer patients.  I asked him, " Where can I go to meet this doctor and find out more about this special water?"

"The doctor you want to talk to is at Shibata Hospital in Okayama. His name is Dr. Jinro Itami. I can give you directions how to get there."

Dr. Itami, Shibata Hospital, Okayama, Japan.

After I returned home, I scheduled an appointment to see Dr. Itami.  I made the three-hour trip from Osaka to Okayama and the Shibata Hospital.  Even though the hospital looked humble and small, I felt a special energy from the building and from the staff when I walked inside.  I waited for 10 minutes and Dr. Itami, a man about 50 years old ( Year 2000), came over and introduced himself. His voice was soft and caring, and his eyes were kind and compassionate. I felt immediately that I could trust him. And this proved to be true.  He was generous with his time during that first visit, as he took time out of his busy schedule from seeing his patients.

"Welcome, Dr. Ohno!  Welcome to Shibata Hospital ! I am so glad to meet you!  I have been looking forward to meeting you, especially after our conversation about the water over the phone. There aren't many doctors who understand the importance of water and how water affects our body!"

I was impressed with Dr. Itami and his humility from our first conversation. When he discussed his patients and how they have been healed, he never indicated to me that he was taking the credit. he always gave the credit to the water.  He had said, " I am not curing the patients, it is the water that is making the difference. I am only giving them the water."

Now that I had met him in person, I was able to confirm that he was indeed a sweet and modest man.  His attitude was very different from the typical Japanese doctors I was used to associating with, who were generally arrogant.  The more I talked with him, the more I liked him.  he was a true humanitarian and meeting him inspired me.  I was now even more excited about discussing the water with him.

"Please tell me about this special water, Dr. Itami. How long have you been using it with your patients?"

"I have been using the water with end-stage cancer patients now for 10 years (i.e.since 1990) , Dr.Ohno. I have kept records since I started giving water to my cancer patients!"

"What can you tell me about your findings?"

""Most of the patients visit me at this hospital after they have moved into the end stages of cancer.  Most of these patients have already gone through radiation, surgery, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. many patients have been to several doctors, who offered them new 'cures' for cancer. Most of these patients have lost trust in their doctors because none of them seemed to improve.  Their hopes have been dimmed, and they are scared of facing death.  They are looking for a miracle that can give them hope and a chance to live.  Even though I do not claim to work miracles, I believe I have given many of my patients hope in helping them to deal with their cancer.  You see, Dr. Ohno, my mission in medicine is to give people hope. Even if I am  not able to cure them of their cancer, at least I want to give them hope."

"Years ago I heard about a mountain that was being mined. The miners who worked there drank the water that came out of the mountain. Many of these miners were suffering from health problem; such as arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, kidney stones, to name a few.  After drinking this water over a period of time, they discovered that their health improved and some of their symptoms  had disappeared altogether.  When I heard  about this from some of the miners, i began to wonder if there would be benefits fro this water for my cancer patients. Even though I was skeptical, I decided it was at least worth trying."

"I knew that my patients would try anything to cure their cancer.  You know the saying ; A drowning man will reach  for a straw. In other words, a dying man will try anything that will help him live. "

Dr. Itami invited me to take a stroll with him to visit some of his patients.  One of the first patients Dr. Itami pointed out was a young man, 42 years old.  he had just been admitted into the hospital with liver cancer. Dr. Itami told me, "This man was told that he has only three months to live.  He is in the end-stages of liver cancer and the cancer has metastasized to his major organs. His doctor told him that there was nothing they could do to help him, and he should go to hospice.  His wife had heard from a  friend about our work here and how the water was helping to cure cancer in some patients."

I looked at the man with his belly swollen like a sumo wrestler.  he was dreadfully thin and he looked very tired. I reached out my hand to shake his as I introduced myself, I asked him , "How are you feeling?"

The patient said, " I have had no appetite even though my abdomen is growing larger from the swelling every day. But I have not given up because many of my friends have told me about Dr. Itami and his special water.  I am hoping that this water will cure my liver cancer.  This is my last chance.  I know I can trust you, Dr. Itami, because I have been told that  you are a true caring and compassionate person. I believe that you can help me!"

Dr. Itami listened and looked down , smiling shyly. As we walked away, he explained to me , "I will start giving the water to him right away.  I hope that the water will give him new hope . But all I can do is my best and allow the water to work in his body.  The rest is up to God."

As we continued to walk through the hospital ward, many patients smiled and waved to Dr. Itami. One patient in particular called him over, " Dr. Itami! Thank you so much for helping me! You have given me so much hope. I have never had another doctor care for me in the way you do.  I am so thankful that I came here so you could help me.  Even though I may die here, Dr. Itami, I will never regret it because I found a doctor I could trust!"

I watched Dr. Itami as many patients sang his praises. Never once did he show an attitude of conceit.  He smiled to every patient, and he made everyone feel at ease.  I witnessed his humanitarian behavior.  He was really a special and unusual doctor.  he was not caught up in ego and greed. Rather, he was fueled by his mission to give hope to patients, who had nothing left to turn to but hope and prayer.

Something I felt was amazing with these patients.  I could understand how the woman who had been here for awhile talked about trusting Dr. Itami. But the liver cancer patient who had just been admitted to the hospital already trusted Dr. Itami. I wondered how it was that he was able to gain the trust of this patient so quickly, even before giving the patient any kind of care.

I remembered  when my mother had her breast cancer operation. i recalled how she told me that she trusted my brother Dr. Yoshioki because there was a special spiritual energy that worked between them.  I believed in this energy and knew that it was imperative for the healing process to be successful.

" Dr. Itami, how do you go about gaining the complete trust of your patients? You seem to have a gift for gaining a patient's trust. How are you able to do this?"

"Dr. Ohno, when my patients come here, I am often times their very lasy hope. usually they have already seen several doctors and have gone through taking several different kinds of drugs and therapies.  Nothing has worked for them or they would not be here.  Most of these patients have lost their trust in doctors and the medical profession.  They see their lives slipping helpless away. When they first are admitted to the hospital, they do not know that i am any different from other doctors. because they need to gain hope and trust before they can begin to get better, I help them by the way I treat them."

"The first thing I do is ask the patient to relax.  I acknowledge that I know they are scared and I talk with them in a caring way. I spend the first three days getting to know them as a person.  Iask them questions about their life, their family, what they do for a living, or I ask them to share with me what they want me to know about them.  It's not until after the third day that I begin to discuss their medical history with them.  By the time I begin to treat them medically, we have developed a relationship that is based upon the deepest human factors of trust and faith.  I continue to remind them to relax and I always listen to their fears and concerns.  Quickly, I am able to give the patient hope and in return, they are able to give me their trust. Both must work together, Dr. Ohno, for healing to occur."

From everything I was experiencing from talking with him and watching him with his patients, I truly liked and respected Dr. Itami.  He was everything I felt he was from my first impression. He was kind and compassionate; a true humanitarian doctor. I was very impressed with him. When we returned to his office, I asked him, "Dr. Itami, what is it about this water that makes it so special?"

"I'm not sure why the water works on diseases, but I do know the history of this water. Almost a billion years ago, there was an undersea volcano that erupted in this area.  When the volcano erupted it rose up out of the ocean and became a mountain. Following the volcano eruption there was a huge meteorite shower in this same area. The magnetite in the meteorites bonded with the limestone and granite of the mountain. This created a permanent magnetic mountain.
"As water flows into the mountain, it is magnetized with the mountain's magnetic field. because of its magnetism, the water is able to attract 74 minerals that are in the mountain.  Some of these minerals are calcium, magnesium, selenium, and potassium, gold, silver, iron. What is equally important about this mineral water is the ionic organization of its structure.  The mineral water has an organized ionization that is unique. When this water is inside our bodies, it helps to create a healthy environment."  I was in complete agreement with Dr. Itami because he confirmed everything I knew about water and magnetism.

Global Research’s Online Interactive I-Book Reader brings together, in the form of chapters, a collection of Global Research feature articles and videos, including debate and analysis, on a broad theme or subject matter.
In this Interactive Online I-Book we bring to the attention of our readers an important collection of articles, reports and video material on the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe and its impacts (scroll down for the Table of Contents).
INTRODUCTION
The World is at a critical crossroads. The Fukushima disaster in Japan has brought to the forefront the dangers of Worldwide nuclear radiation.
The crisis in Japan has been described as “a nuclear war without a war”. In the words of renowned novelist Haruki Murakami:
“This time no one dropped a bomb on us … We set the stage, we committed the crime with our own hands, we are destroying our own lands, and we are destroying our own lives.”
Nuclear radiation –which threatens life on planet earth– is not front page news in comparison to the most insignificant issues of public concern, including the local level crime scene or the tabloid gossip reports on Hollywood celebrities.
While the long-term repercussions of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster are yet to be fully assessed, they are far more serious than those pertaining to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster in the Ukraine, which resulted in almost one million deaths (New Book Concludes – Chernobyl death toll: 985,000, mostly from cancer Global Research, September 10, 2010, See also Matthew Penney and Mark Selden  The Severity of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster: Comparing Chernobyl and Fukushima, Global Research, May 25, 2011)
Moreover, while all eyes were riveted on the Fukushima Daiichi plant, news coverage both in Japan and internationally failed to fully acknowledge the impacts of a second catastrophe at TEPCO’s (Tokyo Electric Power Co  Inc) Fukushima Daini nuclear power plant.
The shaky political consensus both in Japan, the U.S. and Western Europe is that the crisis at Fukushima has been contained.
The realties, however, are otherwise. Fukushima 3 was leaking unconfirmed amounts of plutonium. According to Dr. Helen Caldicott, “one millionth of a gram of plutonium, if inhaled can cause cancer”.
An opinion poll in May 2011 confirmed that more than 80 per cent of the Japanese population do not believe the government’s information regarding the nuclear crisis. (quoted in Sherwood Ross, Fukushima: Japan’s Second Nuclear Disaster, Global Research, November 10, 2011)
The Impacts in Japan
The Japanese government has been obliged to acknowledge that “the severity rating of its nuclear crisis … matches that of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster”. In a bitter irony, however, this tacit admission by the Japanese authorities has proven to been part of  the cover-up of a significantly larger catastrophe, resulting in a process of global nuclear radiation and contamination:
“While Chernobyl was an enormous unprecedented disaster, it only occurred at one reactor and rapidly melted down. Once cooled, it was able to be covered with a concrete sarcophagus that was constructed with 100,000 workers. There are a staggering 4400 tons of nuclear fuel rods at Fukushima, which greatly dwarfs the total size of radiation sources at Chernobyl.” ( Extremely High Radiation Levels in Japan: University Researchers Challenge Official Data, Global Research, April 11, 2011)
Fukushima in the wake of the Tsunami, March 2011
Worldwide Contamination
The dumping of highly radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean constitutes a potential trigger to a process of global radioactive contamination. Radioactive elements have not only been detected in the food chain in Japan, radioactive rain water has been recorded in California:
“Hazardous radioactive elements being released in the sea and air around Fukushima accumulate at each step of various food chains (for example, into algae, crustaceans, small fish, bigger fish, then humans; or soil, grass, cow’s meat and milk, then humans). Entering the body, these elements – called internal emitters – migrate to specific organs such as the thyroid, liver, bone, and brain, continuously irradiating small volumes of cells with high doses of alpha, beta and/or gamma radiation, and over many years often induce cancer”. (Helen Caldicott, Fukushima: Nuclear Apologists Play Shoot the Messenger on Radiation, The Age,  April 26, 2011)
While the spread of radiation to the West Coast of North America was casually acknowledged, the early press reports (AP and Reuters) “quoting diplomatic sources” stated that only “tiny amounts of radioactive particles have arrived in California but do not pose a threat to human health.”
“According to the news agencies, the unnamed sources have access to data from a network of measuring stations run by the United Nations’ Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization. …
… Greg Jaczko, chair of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, told White House reporters on Thursday (March 17) that his experts “don’t see any concern from radiation levels that could be harmful here in the United States or any of the U.S. territories”.

The spread of radiation. March 2011
Public Health Disaster. Economic Impacts
What prevails is a well organized camouflage. The public health disaster in Japan, the contamination of water, agricultural land and the food chain, not to mention the broader economic and social implications, have neither been fully acknowledged nor addressed in a comprehensive and meaningful fashion by the Japanese authorities.
Japan as a nation state has been destroyed. Its landmass and territorial waters are contaminated. Part of the country is uninhabitable. High levels of radiation have been recorded in the Tokyo metropolitan area, which has a population of  39 million (2010) (more than the population of Canada, circa 34 million (2010)) There are indications that the food chain is contaminated throughout Japan:
Radioactive cesium exceeding the legal limit was detected in tea made in a factory in Shizuoka City, more than 300 kilometers away from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Shizuoka Prefecture is one of the most famous tea producing areas in Japan.
A tea distributor in Tokyo reported to the prefecture that it detected high levels of radioactivity in the tea shipped from the city. The prefecture ordered the factory to refrain from shipping out the product. After the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, radioactive contamination of tea leaves and processed tea has been found over a wide area around Tokyo. (See 5 More Companies Detect Radiation In Their Tea Above Legal Limits Over 300 KM From Fukushima, June 15, 2011)
Japan’s industrial and manufacturing base is prostrate. Japan is no longer a leading industrial power. The country’s exports have plummeted. The Tokyo government has announced its first trade deficit since 1980.
While the business media has narrowly centered on the impacts of power outages and energy shortages on the pace of productive activity, the broader issue pertaining to the outright radioactive contamination of the country’s infrastructure and industrial base is a “scientific taboo” (i.e the radiation of industrial plants, machinery and equipment, buildings, roads, etc). A report released in January 2012 points to the nuclear contamination of building materials used in the construction industry, in cluding roads and residential buildings throughout Japan.(See  FUKUSHIMA: Radioactive Houses and Roads in Japan. Radioactive Building Materials Sold to over 200 Construction Companies, January 2012)
A “coverup report” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (May 2011), entitled Economic Impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Current Status of Recovery  presents “Economic Recovery” as a fait accompli. It also brushes aside the issue of radiation. The impacts of nuclear radiation on the work force and the country’s industrial base are not mentioned. The report states that the distance between Tokyo -Fukushima Dai-ichi  is of the order of 230 km (about 144 miles) and that the levels of radiation in Tokyo are lower than in Hong Kong and New York City.(Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Current Status of Recovery, p.15). This statement is made without corroborating evidence and in overt contradiction with independent radiation readings in Tokyo (se map below). In recent developments, Sohgo Security Services Co. is launching a lucrative “radiation measurement service targeting households in Tokyo and four surrounding prefectures”.
A map of citizens’ measured radiation levels shows radioactivity is distributed in a complex pattern reflecting the mountainous terrain and the shifting winds across a broad area of Japan north of Tokyo which is in the center of the of bottom of the map.”
“Radiation limits begin to be exceeded at just above 0.1 microsieverts/ hour blue. Red is about fifty times the civilian radiation limit at 5.0 microsieverts/hour. Because children are much more sensitive than adults, these results are a great concern for parents of young children in potentially affected areas.”
The fundamental question is whether the vast array of industrial goods and components “Made in Japan” — including hi tech components, machinery, electronics, motor vehicles, etc — and exported Worldwide are contaminated? Were this to be the case, the entire East and Southeast Asian industrial base –which depends heavily on Japanese components and industrial technology– would be affected. The potential impacts on international trade would be farreaching. In this regard, in January, Russian officials confiscated irradiated Japanese automobiles and autoparts in the port of Vladivostok for sale in the Russian Federation. Needless to say, incidents of this nature in a global competitive environment, could lead to the demise of the Japanese automobile industry which is already in crisis.
While most of the automotive industry is in central Japan, Nissan’s engine factory in Iwaki city is 42 km from the Fukushima Daiichi plant. Is the Nissan work force affected? Is the engine plant contaminated? The plant is within about 10 to 20 km of the government’s “evacuation zone” from which some 200,000 people were evacuated (see map below).
Nuclear Energy and Nuclear War
The crisis in Japan has also brought into the open the unspoken relationship between nuclear energy and nuclear war.
Nuclear energy is not a civilian economic activity. It is an appendage of the nuclear weapons industry which is controlled by the so-called defense contractors. The powerful corporate interests behind nuclear energy and nuclear weapons overlap.
In Japan at the height of the disaster, “the nuclear industry and government agencies [were] scrambling to prevent the discovery of atomic-bomb research facilities hidden inside Japan’s civilian nuclear power plants”.1  (See Yoichi Shimatsu, Secret Weapons Program Inside Fukushima Nuclear Plant? Global Research,  April 12, 2011)
It should be noted that the complacency of both the media and the governments to the hazards of nuclear radiation pertains to the nuclear energy industry as well as to to use of nuclear weapons. In both cases, the devastating health impacts of nuclear radiation are casually denied. Tactical nuclear weapons with an explosive capacity of up to six times a Hiroshima bomb are labelled by the Pentagon as “safe for the surrounding civilian population”.
No concern has been expressed at the political level as to the likely consequences of a US-NATO-Israel attack on Iran, using “safe for civilians” tactical nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear state.
Such an action would result in “the unthinkable”: a nuclear holocaust over a large part of the Middle East and Central Asia. A nuclear nightmare, however, would occur even if nuclear weapons were not used. The bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities using conventional weapons would contribute to unleashing another Fukushima type disaster with extensive radioactive fallout.  Nuclear Radiation: Categorization
At Fukushima, reports confirm that alpha, beta, gamma particles and neutrons have been released:
“While non-ionizing radiation and x-rays are a result of electron transitions in atoms or molecules, there are three forms of ionizing radiation that are a result of activity within the nucleus of an atom.  These forms of nuclear radiation are alpha particles (α-particles), beta particles (β-particles) and gamma rays (γ-rays).
Alpha particles are heavy positively charged particles made up of two protons and two neutrons.  They are essentially a helium nucleus and are thus represented in a nuclear equation by either α or .  See the Alpha Decay page for more information on alpha particles.
Beta particles come in two forms:  and  particles are just electrons that have been ejected from the nucleus.  This is a result of sub-nuclear reactions that result in a neutron decaying to a proton.  The electron is needed to conserve charge and comes from the nucleus.  It is not an orbital electron.  particles are positrons ejected from the nucleus when a proton decays to a neutron.  A positron is an anti-particle that is similar in nearly all respects to an electron, but has a positive charge.  See the Beta Decay page for more information on beta particles.
Gamma rays are photons of high energy electromagnetic radiation (light).  Gamma rays generally have the highest frequency and shortest wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum.  There is some overlap in the frequencies of gamma rays and x-rays; however, x-rays are formed from electron transitions while gamma rays are formed from nuclear transitions. See the Gamma Rays  for more” (SOURCE: Canadian Nuclear Association)
A neutron is a particle that is found in the nucleus, or center, of atoms. It has a mass very close to protons, which also reside in the nucleus of atoms. Together, they make up almost all of the mass of individual atoms. Each has a mass of about 1 amu, which is roughly 1.6×10-27kg. Protons have a positive charge and neutrons have no charge, which is why they were more difficult to discover.” (SOURCE: Neutron Radiation)

“Many different radioactive isotopes are used in or are produced by nuclear reactors. The most important of these are described below:
1. Uranium 235 (U-235) is the active component of most nuclear reactor fuel.
2. Plutonium (Pu-239) is a key nuclear material used in modern nuclear weapons and is also present as a by-product in certain reprocessed fuels used in some nuclear reactors. Pu-239 is also produced in uranium reactors as a byproduct of fission of U-235.
3. Cesium (Cs-137 ) is a fission product of U-235. It emits beta and gamma radiationand can cause radiation sickness and death if exposures are high enough. …
4. Iodine 131 (I-131), also a fission product of U-235, emits beta and gamma radiation. After inhalation or ingestion, it is absorbed by and concentrated in the thyroid gland, where its beta radiation damages nearby thyroid tissue  (SOURCE: Amesh A. Adalja, MD, Eric S.
