GETTING IN SYNC

Vitamin G : The Lost Supplement ..63 (click to read)

GETTING IN SYNC
Our dogs Pumpkin and Sawa (and our new wonder cat, Bam Bam) always wanted their food at exactly the same time everyday. But how did they know it was time to eat? They were not wearing puppy watches or kitty watches, but their internal clocks told the, when to wake, sleep, and even salivate for food. All animals except for humans, with our artificial light, computer screens, and TVs, have synchronized their body clocks with that of the earth. But by exercising regularly, particularly barefoot and feeling the ground, we can reconnect with and reset our internal clocks.

Once you are ready and prepped to go barefoot walking, we recommend walking outside on a regular basis, particularly at sunrise, (best at 8A.M.), and sunset, (best at 5P.M.). Whatever hour of the day you choose, at your convenience , try to go outdoor every day at the same time. The human body will learn when to rise and when to sleep, when to think, and when to go quiet. This body knowledge helps us let go, relax, and get in sync with the earth.

THE PHYSICS OF GETTING GROUNDED

Getting grounded is not merely a spiritual feeling; it has its roots in physics.

Since the beginning of time, we humans have walked, slept, and spent most of our time with our bare feet on the ground, unaware that this physical direct contact transfers natural healing, electrical energy to our bodies.

For the first time in history, our modern lifestyle has disconnected us from the earth's energy , making us more vulnerable to stress and illness. We wear insulating rubber-soled or synthetic-soled shoes, travel around in metal boxes with insulating rubber wheels, and eat, sleep, and work in structures raised above the ground. New research, spearheaded by Clint Ober, is showing that when we reconnect to the earth by way of our bare feet, or by using a grounding device, a myriad of things happen to support health and vitality.

Grounding Helps Thin Dangerously Thick Blood and Fights Inflammation and Disease
Story at-a-glance
When you walk barefoot, free electrons are transferred from the earth into your body, and this grounding effect is one of the most potent antioxidants we know of.
Inflammation thrives when your blood is thick, and you have a lot of free radical stress, and a lot of positive charges in your body. Grounding effectively alleviates inflammation because it thins your blood and infuses you with negatively charged ions through the soles of your feet.
Surfaces that allow for proper grounding include sand, grass, bare dirt, and untreated concrete, brick and ceramic tile. Leather-soled shoes also allow you to ground while walking, whereas rubber-soled shoes disconnect you from the earth and block beneficial electron transfer.
Grounding helps thin your blood by improving its zeta potential, which means it improves the energy between your red blood cells. Research has demonstrated it takes about 80 minutes for the free electrons from the earth to reach your blood stream and transform your blood.
⇿Grounding is contraindicated if you take Coumadin, as it may thin your blood too much.

By Dr. Mercola

Dr. Stephen Sinatra is a prominent cardiologist and an innovative pioneer. He promotes a number of natural strategies as "add-ons" to the field of cardiology, such as grounding or earthing, which is the topic of this interview.

He'd done five years of post-graduate training in conventional medicine when, in 1977, he met Dr. Jacob Rinse, a 91-year old Dutch chemist who exposed him to alternative medicine.

"After that I studied some nutrition," he says, "but I became a psychotherapist. I spent 10 years training in psychotherapy. I studied bioenergetic psychotherapy, which looks at energy blocks in the body.

That really helped launch me even more into alternative medicine. Then I decided that nutrition needed more work, so I studied for the American College of Nutrition exam, a test to certify a nutrition specialist."

Then, 10 years ago, he met Clint Ober, who introduced him to grounding. (Ober is the co-author with Dr. Sinatra of the 2010 book, Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever?).

"At first I was skeptical," Dr. Sinatra admits.

"I said, 'My gosh, putting my feet on the ground is going to improve my heart, my body; or at least the things that Clint is talking about?' But then... I spoke to him for about an hour, and went from skeptical to being all in! ... [L]ook, the heart is the most electrical organ of the body. We are electrical [beings]."

What Is Earthing?
The terms "earthing" and "grounding" are interchangeable. It is simply the act of placing your bare feet on the earth, or walking barefoot. When you do, free electrons are transferred from the earth into your body, and this grounding effect is one of the most potent antioxidants we know of.

Unfortunately, few people ever walk barefoot anymore to experience it.

Hopefully, as more and more people become aware of the importance of being grounded, this will change, or at the very least spawn a much needed change in the way most footwear is made. Synthetic rubber soles disconnect you from the earth. Leather soles do not. So you can still find shoes that allow you to remain grounded without going barefoot.

Grounding has numerous benefits, aside from creating a general feeling of well-being. For example, walking barefoot can help ameliorate the constant assault of electromagnetic fields and other types of radiation from cell phones, computers and Wi-Fi.

By getting outside, barefoot, touching the earth, and allowing the excess charge in your body to discharge into the earth, you can alleviate some of the stress put on your system. That is the grounding effect. I have personally prioritized grounding myself to the earth as much as possible for over 5 years.

Inflammation -- The Root of Most Disease

One of the primary health benefits of grounding is its antioxidant effect. It helps alleviate inflammation throughout your body.

"I told [Clint Ober] 10 years ago, "What you need to do is show that grounding improves inflammation. If you can show that, then you can show that it improves heart disease. Because the real cause of heart disease is inflammation. It's not cholesterol like everybody believes. It's really inflammation," Dr. Sinatra says. ... [H]is experimental work was just really awesome, and I got involved with research myself. I'm still smack in the middle of it right now, but it took me 10 years."

Dr. Sinatra goes on to tell the inspiring story of a contractor he met about 23 years ago, who at one point worked with a group of Scandinavian carpenters who really understood the benefits of grounding and supported each other in maintaining this healthy habit:

"They all took off their shoes in the morning and walked barefoot on the wet grass," he says. "He came to work as a young carpenter, and the foreman said to him, 'Hey buddy, you better take your shoes off, because if you come to work right now with those shoes on, you're going to be busted up in 10 years. Your joints are going to be aching. Your muscles are going to be aching. Everything's going to be aching...' He told him to take his shoes off for an hour in the morning. Guys slugging sledgehammers, digging and hammering. It's stress to the tissues. But if they put their feet on the ground for an hour and had their coffee breaks with their shoes off, it made a difference."

According to Dr. Sinatra, inflammation thrives when your blood is thick and you have a lot of free radical stress, and a lot of positive charges in your body. Grounding effectively alleviates inflammation because it thins your blood and infuses you with negatively charged ions through the soles of your feet. But beware; not all surfaces allow you to ground.

What Surfaces Will Allow You to Properly Ground?
Good grounding surfaces include:

•Sand (beach)
•Grass (preferably moist)
•Bare soil
•Concrete and brick (as long as it's not painted or sealed)
•Ceramic tile

The following surfaces will NOT ground you:

•Asphalt
•Wood
•Rubber and plastic
•Vinyl
•Tar or tarmac

An interesting tidbit offered by Dr. Sinatra is how to ground while flying. I typically bring a grounding pad with me when I fly, but Dr. Sinatra claims that simply taking your shoes off and putting your feet (bare or with socks) on the steel struts will do the trick.

The Earth Is a Rich Source of Healthful Electrons

The earth is struck by lightning thousands of time each minute, primarily around the equator. Subsequently, the earth carries an enormous negative charge. It's always electron-rich and can serve as a powerful and abundant supply of antioxidant free radical-busting electrons.

The human body appears to be finely tuned to "work" with the earth in the sense that there's a constant flow of energy between our bodies and the earth. When you put your feet on the ground, you absorb large amounts of negative electrons through the soles of your feet. In today's world, this is more important than ever, yet fewer people than ever actually connect with the earth in this way anymore. Free radical stress from exposure to mercury pollution, cigarettes, insecticides, pesticides, trans fats, and radiation, just to name a few, continually deplete your body of electrons.

"We now know that oxidative stress causes disease. It causes inflammation," Dr. Sinatra says. "[But] we have this Earth – Mother Earth, that's going to give us all these free electrons."

Recharge Your 'Batteries' with Grounding

Dr. Sinatra, like myself, is a proponent for CoQ10, as it is a major electron donor and helps turn over ATP, which is the energy generated within each of your body's cells. Amazingly, grounding can also enhance ATP, via another mechanism. How do dietary-derived, oral antioxidants compare to the electrons transferred from the earth through your skin? According to Dr. Sinatra:

"Whether you take antioxidants... or whether you get electron donors through the skin, what you're taking in -- into your skin, and taking in orally -- is going to be synergistic. It's going to help your body... What's a healthy lifestyle? It's eating healthy. It's avoiding sugars. It's avoiding trans fats. It's eating organic much of the time. It's avoiding pesticides, insecticides, and chemicals. It's drinking healthy water, breathing in healthy air, and getting healthy sunlight... In other words, taking in these natural energies is a healing energy. Grounding is another natural energy that everybody should do in their lives, because it just makes sense. It incorporates a healthier lifestyle."

Walking Barefoot Is a Valuable Aspect of a Healthy Lifestyle

Exercising barefoot outdoors is one of the most wonderful, inexpensive and powerful ways of incorporating Earthing into your daily life and will also help speed up tissue repair, as well as easing the muscle pain you sometimes get from strenuous exercise. A review of the available research, published January 2012 in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health, agrees with the concept of reaping health benefits when connecting to the Earth1. According to the authors:

"Mounting evidence suggests that the Earth's negative potential can create a stable internal bioelectrical environment for the normal functioning of all body systems. Moreover, oscillations of the intensity of the Earth's potential may be important for setting the biological clocks regulating diurnal body rhythms, such as cortisol secretion.

It is also well established that electrons from antioxidant molecules neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS, or in popular terms, free radicals) involved in the body's immune and inflammatory responses. The National Library of Medicine's online resource PubMed lists 7021 studies and 522 review articles from a search of 'antioxidant + electron + free radical.' It is assumed that the influx of free electrons absorbed into the body through direct contact with the Earth likely neutralize ROS and thereby reduce acute and chronic inflammation.

Throughout history, humans mostly walked barefoot or with footwear made of animal skins. They slept on the ground or on skins. Through direct contact or through perspiration-moistened animal skins used as footwear or sleeping mats, the ground's abundant free electrons were able to enter the body, which is electrically conductive. Through this mechanism, every part of the body could equilibrate with the electrical potential of the Earth, thereby stabilizing the electrical environment of all organs, tissues, and cells.

Modern lifestyle has increasingly separated humans from the primordial flow of Earth's electrons. For example, since the 1960s, we have increasingly worn insulating rubber or plastic soled shoes, instead of the traditional leather fashioned from hides. Rossi has lamented that the use of insulating materials in post-World War II shoes has separated us from the Earth's energy field. Obviously, we no longer sleep on the ground as we did in times past.

During recent decades, chronic illness, immune disorders, and inflammatory diseases have increased dramatically, and some researchers have cited environmental factors as the cause. However, the possibility of modern disconnection with the Earth's surface as a cause has not been considered. Much of the research reviewed in this paper points in that direction."

The Sunflower Experiment
Last year, Gary Schwartz, PhD, at the University of Arizona, performed an elegant experiment with sunflowers to demonstrate the powerful biological effects of grounding. As shown in the photos below, one set of sunflowers were connected to a grounded power outlet via a thin metal rod placed in the vase, connected to a wire.

The second set was connected to an outlet that was not grounded. All of the flowers were freshly picked, from the same area, at the same time, and the water came from the same source and had nothing added. The experiment was blind, so the experimenter was unaware of which outlet had been grounded.

Sunflower Experiment 01

Sunflower Experiment 01

Sunflower Experiment 01

Photos used with permission from Gary Schwartz.

As you can see, by the seventh day, one set is clearly wilting away, while the other still looks plump and fresh. As hypothesized, the set that kept their freshness were connected to the grounded outlet. Even more remarkable was the dramatic difference in overall survival -- the grounded flowers survived for another 10 days after the ungrounded set had shriveled up and died!

According to Clint Ober, this isn't so surprising since flowers growing in the ground receive a continuous supply of energy from the earth. The grounding rod used in this experiment effectively mimics this natural ground connection, allowing them to thrive longer, as if they'd never been plucked in the first place. So, can this concept translate into better health for you? There's compelling evidence it can, and does...

How Grounding Changes Your Blood
Grounding helps thin your blood by improving its zeta potential, which means it improves the energy between your red blood cells. Research has demonstrated it takes about 80 minutes for the free electrons from the earth to reach your blood stream and transform your blood.

Do you know what a high-sugar diet, smoking, radio frequencies and other toxic electromagnetic forces, emotional stress, anxiety, high cholesterol, and high uric acid levels do to your blood?

All of these make your blood hypercoagulable, meaning it makes it thick and slow-moving, which increases your risk of having a blood clot or stroke. Hypercoagulable blood is the essence of inflammation, because when your blood does not flow well, oxygen can't get to your tissues. In fact, grounding's effect on blood thinning is so profound if you are taking blood thinners you must work with your health care provider to lower your dose otherwise you may overdose on the medication.

Zeta potential is the electrical potential of solids and liquids, also referred to as electrokinetic potential. Your red blood cells repel each other and function at the speed of light, traveling through your body at an astounding 186,000 miles per second. Grounding actually increases zeta potential by an average of 280 percent. According to Dr. Sinatra:

"This is the most incredible discovery, because if you can increase the thinning of your blood naturally by grounding, you can fight off disease. Not only heart disease and stroke, but I'm thinking cancer, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, or any illness that requires good oxygenation to the tissues."

Similarly, anything that lowers zeta potential of your blood will promote disease. For example, early (and some current) birth control pills were notorious for causing heart attacks in women. One of the mechanisms that causes this increased risk is that synthetic estrogens and progesterones increase blood viscosity, i.e., they decrease the zeta potential of your blood... There are currently studies being performed at the University of Arizona which will objectively document grounding effect on the zeta potential. They are anticipated to be completed this year.

Other Beneficial Changes Caused By Grounding
Animal experiments have also shown that ungrounded rats had higher blood sugar compared to their grounded counterparts, despite being fed identical diets. If disconnecting from the earth disrupts human sugar metabolism, we may have identified yet another contributing cause for the dramatic rise of diabetes in children.

"... I think the reason why we have a generation of diabetic kids is because we took away the ground, gave them a lot of sugar, and no exercise. That's the perfect storm," Dr. Sinatra says.

Experiments in Poland, the U.S. and Canada, using both animal and human models, show that grounding improves the human physiology. Other biochemical alterations caused by grounding include changes in:

•Phosphorus
•Calcium metabolism
•Fibroid metabolism
•White blood cells

Grounding also calms your sympathetic nervous system, which supports your heart rate variability. And, when you support heart rate variability, this promotes homeostatis, or balance, in your autonomic nervous system. In essence, anytime you improve heart rate variability, you're improving the entire organism -- in this case, your entire body and all its functions.

"In other words, we're there -- we're in a health mode, as opposed to disease mode. Grounding does that," Dr. Sinatra explains.

Contraindications and Other Warnings
While walking barefoot is clearly one of the most natural things you can possibly do to improve your health, there are still some contraindications and situations in which you may want to use caution.

"I don't like people to ground when they're taking Coumadin," Dr. Sinatra warns. "It's a relative contraindication because we have had people ground, taking Coumadin at the same time, and their blood became like water. It was like red wine and then it got really thin. That could be dangerous. If you have high blood pressure, [or]... if you had a stroke and you have thin blood, it's a disaster. We basically tell people that if you're on Coumadin, you must work with your doctor, because your doctor's going to have to reduce the Coumadin."

Depending on your health status and toxic load, your health may also get worse before it gets better when you start grounding on a regular basis. This is a classic detox reaction, which you may also experience with other detox methods.

"Some patients with polyneuropathy would get worsening of their limb pain on grounding, and some would get better. I want to make that clear that grounding is not a panacea," Dr. Sinatra says. "But what I've learned with grounding is that the sicker you are, the more you need to ground."

NKCP :

NKCPイメージ

NKCP, a purified filtrate of Bacillus subtilis var. natto culture is a food based extract of “natto”, a Japanese traditional fermented food made from soybean. Purification to remove most of distinctive odor of natto and its vitamin K2 yields an easy-to-eat food that has a wide variety of uses as a functional food. NKCP contains proteolytic enzymes secreted by Bacillus subtilis var. natto (Bacillus subtilis var. natto-produced protein), which balance clotting mechanisms in the blood.

In vitro and clinical studies have demonstrated that the consistent intake of NKCP over a prolonged period helps to maintain normal circulation. The safety of NKCP has been demonstrated in safety studies. *In vitro (Latin for "within the glass") refers to the technique of performing a given procedure in a controlled environment outside of a living organism.

Japan (No.3532503)

NKCP stands for Purified Natto Culture Filtrate. NKCP tablets launched April 2001. Daiwan Health Development Inc. (DHD) began export of NKCP on November 2001.

Development Background

The “People's Health Promotion Campaign for the 21st Century (Healthy Japan 21)” was launched in 2000 by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. The purposes of this campaign are to reduce premature death, prolong optimal health, and improve the quality of life. Simply put, it focuses on longevity accompanied by optimal health. Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases account for about 30% of causes of death in Japan, about 25% in the world. To lower mortality rates while in the prime of life, it is very important to prevent cardiac and cerebrovascular diseases.

A patient with cardiovascular disease may evade a fatal cardiovascular event, but eventually their quality and duration of life will be compromised.

Contemporary lifestyles choices are associated with an increased risk of thrombus formation and subsequent ischemic heart disease and cerebrovascular disease. It has recently been demonstrated that the etiology of travel induced thrombosis, also known as “economy class syndrome”, is Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), which may result in a pulmonary embolism. DVT may develop as a result of prolonged sitting in cramped quarters related to both air and auto travel. Additionally, common ailments such as stiff shoulder muscles and leg edema may be caused by insufficient peripheral circulation, caused by excess blood viscosity. The key to preventing DVT and insufficient peripheral circulation is to balance coagulation and fibrinolysis, to prevent thrombus formation and to enhance overall cardiovascular health and longevity. NKCP may be a critical component to achieve such balance.

Development

NKCP was developed based on the traditional Japanese food, natto. Natto contains constituents that enhance the fibrinolysis system in favor of clot lysis. Naturally occurring proteolytic enzymes produced by Bacillus subtilis var. natto dissolve clots in a balanced manner, without causing excessive blood thinning. Recent research has shown that other additional constituents from Bacillus subtilis var. natto produce a substance that acts to inhibit blood coagulation, thereby complementing the known fibrinolytic activity to improve blood viscosity. Based on these insights, it is probable that consistent consumption of natto may lower the overall risk of thrombus formation. However, compliance of such a recommendation may be poor, due to natto's potentially objectionable odor and flavor. Additionally, natto consumption may be contraindicated for patients on anti-coagulant therapy due to its high vitamin K2 content. Furthermore, the proteolytic enzyme content may vary greatly in commercially available natto, resulting in inconsistent anti-coagulant activity.

NKCP was therefore developed to provide a raw material for food products which corrects the drawbacks of natto. NKCP is produced by fermenting the bacillus in a liquid medium containing soybean extract and then partially purifying the peptidase. The odor, bacterial body and vitamin K2 content are reduced to a negligible level. NKCP is designed to contain a constant amount of peptidase.

Characteristics of NKCP

• NKCP is extracted from Bacillus subtilis var. natto and it is free of the undesirable odor and viscous texture of natto.
• NKCP's purpose is three-fold.
To function as (1) an anticoagulant (2) thrombolytic and (3) decreases blood viscosity.
• The majority of the vitamin K2 has been eliminated, therefore it is less antagonistic to other drugs such as warfarin.
• NKCP is standardized to contain specific levels of proteolytic enzymes secreted by Bacillus subtilis var. natto.
• The principal functional enzyme (protease) is stable at pH 6.0-10.0 and at temperatures 60℃ or below.
• The safety of NKCP has been confirmed in many animal and human studies.
• The production process for this purified filtrate of Bacillus subtilis var. natto culture is registered under Patent No. 3532503 in Japan.

Mechanism of Action

NKCP is shown to have the following effects:
a. Inhibiting thrombus formation in vitro and in vivo.
b. Decreasing the viscosity of blood in vitro and in vivo
c. Lysing thrombi in vitro and in vivo
*In vivo (of processes) performed or taking place in a living organism."fluid transport was measured in vivo"

The coagulation/fibrinolysis system is comprised of a series of complicated reactions designed to maintain the balance between healthy circulation and prevention of excess bleeding. Many factors can influence this system, however, it is not easily disrupted. In the event that the system shifts towards excess thrombus formation, it is challenging to return the system back to balance. Because it is difficult to lyse a formed thrombus, the emphasis should be placed on prevention of thrombus formation rather than on thrombolysis.

By inhibiting thrombus formation and decreasing blood viscosity, orally administered NKCP helps maintain balance, shifts blood away from clot formation, and enhances circulation throughout the body.

Long-term administration (humans):
Twenty-three healthy adults were given NKCP at 250mg/day for 12 weeks, and no clinically significant adverse events were observed. There were no statistically significant changes in hematological or biochemistry tests.

Five healthy adults were given NKCP at 750mg/day for 6 consecutive weeks to study and observe changes in laboratory test values (hematological tests, biochemistry tests, and blood coagulation/fibrinolysis parameters) and adverse events. As a result, ELT shortened, t-PA decreased, and thromboplastinogen activity test (TAT) increased but all values were within normal range. In addition, no adverse events were observed, suggesting NKCP safety.

High dose administration(humans):
Eight healthy adults were given NKCP at 1,250mg/day for 7 consecutive days. Observation of clinical signs and laboratory tests were utilized to evaluate NKCP safety. There were no clinically significant adverse events. There were no abnormal changes in hematological or biochemistry tests.

Assays

1. Peptidase Activity (synthetic substrate method)

The sample solution is warmed at 37°C with the synthetic chromogenic substrate S-2251 (H-D-valyl-L-leucyl-L-lysine-p-nitroanilide dihydrochloride) as a substrate and the absorbance at 405nm is determined. The enzyme activity is defined as 1 unit when 1nmol of p-nitroaniline per minute is released.
*An assay is an investigative (analytic) procedure in laboratory medicine, pharmacology, environmental biology and molecular biology for qualitatively assessing or quantitatively measuring the presence, amount, or functional activity of a target entity (the analyte).

2. Bacillus subtilis var. natto-produced Protein

ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) uses rabbit-specific antibodies to the Bacillus subtilis var. natto-produced protein, responsible for the peptidase activity, to measure the amount of antigen reacting with the specific antibodies.

Anticoagulant effect of NKCP in human blood
Thirty micro litters of the test substance, NKCP, was added to 3mL of venous blood collected from healthy volunteers who had given informed consent, followed by inversion for mixing. The mixture was warmed at 37°C for 250 seconds and centrifuged, and the supernatant was measured for fibrin monomers (FM) indicative of thrombus formation, using a latex immunity analyzer. The concentration of FM was 160 ± 29.3μg/mL after addition of the control physiological saline and 6.0 ± 1.1μg/mL after addition of heparin sodium (0.5IU/mL). After addition of NKCP at concentrations from 0.005mg/mL to 0.5mg/mL, the concentration of FM decreased dose-dependently, but plateaued at 0.05mg/mL.

Anticoagulant effect of NKCP in rat model of thrombosis formation
The anticoagulant effect of NKCP was studied in a rat model of thrombus formation. In this model, platelet aggregation was caused by injuring endothelial cells of the abdominal descending aorta to induce thrombus formation. NKCP was administered into the duodenum 2 hours after producing the thrombus formation model using in situ loop method. Blood was collected from the abdominal aorta 6 hours after administration to determine activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and prothrombin time (PT) as indicators of endogenous and exogenous coagulations, respectively. APTT was 33.5 ± 2.4 seconds for the control group (administered physiological saline), 52.0 ± 4.5 seconds for the NKCP 100mg/kg group, and 63.3 ± 2.9 seconds for the NKCP 250mg/kg group. A significant coagulation delay was observed in the NKCP treatment groups as compared to control. PT was 16.7 ± 0.5 seconds for the control group, 20.6 ± 0.9 seconds for the NKCP 100mg/kg group, and 21.3 ± 1.7 seconds for the NKCP 250mg/kg group. As with the APTT, a significant coagulation delay was observed in the NKCP group as compared to control. These results suggest NKCP inhibits thrombus formation.

Effect of NKCP on the viscosity of human blood

Eight healthy male adults who had given informed consent were given a single dose of placebo or NKCP at 1,250mg, and blood was collected at various points over 240 minutes to measure changes in blood viscosity. The viscosity of blood was determined by Hitosugi et al.'s method using an oscillating viscometer.
In the NKCP group, there was a significant decrease in blood viscosity at 105 and 180 minutes as compared to baseline. There was a significant decrease in blood viscosity in the NKCP group as compared to placebo at 180 minutes.

Thrombolytic effect of NKCP on artificial thrombi

A small amount of NKCP was added to test tubes containing an artificial thrombus in physiological saline. The thrombus began to lyse within several minutes and was almost completely lysed at 3 hours. To lyse is to cause dissolution or destruction of cells by lysins. Lysis is the disintegration of a cell by rupture of the cell wall or membrane.

In vivo thrombolytic effect of oral NKCP in experimental thrombolysis model

The thrombolytic effect of NKCP on rat model was observed in a 14 week study. The NKCP was evaluated in two groups, in a mix of 0.2% and 1% in feed, as compared to a control group. Thrombolysis was evaluated using a He-Ne laser induced thrombosis model in mesenteric microvessels. The size of the artificially produced thrombus was measured from the time of formation to evaluate the thrombolytic effect of NKCP.

Thrombolytic activity clearly increased dose-dependently in the NKCP treatment groups compared with the control group. There was an 82% decrease in thrombus volume in the control group, as compared to 67% decrease in the 0.2% NKCP group, and a 51% decrease (statistically significant) in the 1% NKCP group. The extent of thrombolysis in the 1% group was equivalent to that seen in animals treated with a bolus intravenous infusion of 0.2mg/kg of tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA). Based on the body weight and feed intake of rats used in the study, the dose of NKCP was calculated to be about 160mg/kg/day for the 0.2% NKCP feed and 800mg/kg/day for the 1% NKCP feed.

Effect of Bacillus subtilis var. natto-derived protein on the human blood coagulation/fibrinolysis system

A total of 23 adults, including patients with metabolic diseases related to thrombosis, were given 250mg NKCP for two consecutive months. Coagulation/fibrinolysis parameters and symptoms were evaluated 1 and 2 months after starting treatment.

Euglobulin lysis time (ELT) significantly decreased from the baseline value at 1 and 2 months, and t-PA significantly increased at 2 months, showing the accelerated fibrinolysis system. However, the measured ELT and t-PA values were within the normal ranges. Fibrinogen degradation products (FDP) significantly decreased 1 month after starting ingestion but returned to the baseline value at 2 months.

Symptoms of shoulder stiffness significantly improved from baseline at 1 and 2 months.

Your Water requirements for daily life

How much should people drink? Official recommendations give guidelines for daily requirements.

The most recent official recommendation about water requirement has been published by the European Food Safety Authority in 2010.1 This extensive scientific review has enabled the definition of adequate water intakes, based on European fluid intakes, desirable urine osmolarity and energy intake. The reference values assumed a moderate climate and moderate level of physical activity.

Table: Dietary Reference Values for water1

A table showing dietary reference values for water

These values include water that originates from both consumed fluids and food. The European Scientific Authority has also stated that the contribution of food to total water intake represents about 20% in adults. On this basis, it means that male adults should drink 2 L per day, and female adults 1.6 L.

No maximal tolerable intake level has been set by EFSA. This is justified by the great ability of healthy individuals to excrete excess water intakes within a large range of observed intakes. In healthy subjects the kidneys have the ability to excrete up to 0.7 to 1L/hour.1

MYTH OR FACT? › THE WATER YOU GET FROM FOOD IS ENOUGH TO STAY HYDRATED

THE WATER YOU GET FROM FOOD IS ENOUGH TO STAY HYDRATED.

The hydration expert, Professor Kavouras from the University of Arkansas, tells you everything about the water intake you get from food and your hydration needs.
Image result for Professor Kavouras from the University of Arkansas

 Professor Kavouras :

"The Water we get from food rarely exceeds 20% of our total water intake. Even if your diet is extremely high in fruits and vegetables and soups you will rarely exceed probably 30 to 40% of your total water intake. So the answer is no, it is practically impossible to stay hydrated if you just wait to get your water from solid foods. So this is definitely a big myth.

"THE WATER YOU GET FROM FOOD IS ENOUGH TO STAY HYDRATED" IS A BIG MYTH.

2. WATER IS THE ONLY NATURALLY OCCURRING ZERO-CALORIE DRINK.

3. MAINTAINING GOOD HYDRATION ENSURES PHYSICAL ENDURANCE.

4. MAINTAINING GOOD HYDRATION ENSURES OPTIMAL COGNITIVE PERFORMANCE.

5. HUMAN BREAST MILK CONTAINS AROUND 87% WATER.

6. AS YOU AGE, YOUR SENSATION OF THIRST DIMINISHES.

7. YOUR MUSCLES ARE COMPOSED ON 75.6% OF WATER.

8. YOUR BRAIN IS COMPOSED OF 74.8% OF WATER.

9. YOUR BONE IS COMPOSED OF 22% OF WATER.

10. THE MORE YOU FILTER WATER, THE MORE ARTIFICIAL IT BECOMES.

11. A NORMAL ADULT BODY IS MADE UP OF 60-70% WATER.

12. YOUR BLOOD CONTAINS APPROXIMATELY 83% WATER.

13. DARK OR STRONG-SMELLING URINE IS A SIGN THAT YOU ARE PROBABLY ALREADY DEHYDRATED.

14. UNLIKE OTHER LIQUIDS, WATER CONTAINS NO CALORIES, NO ACIDS, NO ADDITIVES.

15. WE LOSE 2.6L OF WATER PER DAY.

16. WATER IS THE ONLY LIQUID WE NEED TO HYDRATE.

17. WATER IS FREE FROM SUGARS, ACIDS AND ADDITIVES.

18. WE CAN SURVIVE SECONDS WITHOUT AIR, DAYS WITHOUT WATER, AND WEEKS WITHOUT FOOD.

Dehydration and Aging

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and eating fruit and vegetables.

Dehydration occurs when your body doesn’t have enough water and other fluids to function normally. Dehydration can happen to anyone, but it is a problem that is more common in people who are older.

Your body loses water every day when you breath, perspire, urinate, and have bowel movements. For your body to work right, you need to keep it well hydrated.

As you age, your sense of thirst lessens and the kidney isn’t able to conserve body water as well. Over the age of 50, you may feel tired and draggy rather than thirsty, and may opt for a nap instead of a tall glass of water. If you remain dehydrated, you can end up suffering complications, some of which can be serious.

Drugs Can Dry You Out

Medications — not only diuretics that make you urinate more water, but also drugs for blood pressure and other cardiac conditions — can compound the effect of dehydration on blood pressure.

These medications are usually taken first thing in the morning and reach their peak effect in the late morning. Sometimes eating a meal high in salt can shift body fluid to the stomach and intestine to aid digestion, which is a perfect recipe for making you faint if you are already dehydrated.

Other, more serious, complications may include heatstroke, swelling of the brain, seizures, kidney failure, and, if you become severely dehydrated, even death.

Symptoms

For mild dehydration look out for:

Dry, sticky mouth
Sleepiness or tiredness
Thirst
Decreased urine
Headache
Lightheadedness

Severe dehydration, which is a medical emergency, may cause:

Extreme thirst
Irritability and confusion
Very dry mouth, skin, and mucous membranes
Lack of sweating
Little or no urination
Low blood pressure
Rapid heartbeat
Fever
Delirium or unconsciousness
Thirst sometimes is not a good gauge of how much water your body needs, especially for older adults. A better way to check is to look at the color of your urine: clear or light-colored urine means you’re getting enough water, and dark yellow urine may mean you’re dehydrated.

Dehydration Prevention
The best way to prevent dehydration is to make sure you drink enough water and eat plenty of foods high in water content such as fruits and vegetables. Also remember that your body needs more water if you live in a hot climate, you are sick, or you are exercising.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends adults drink almost 2 liters of water a day — that’s about eight 8-ounce glasses. The Institute of Medicine recommends adults drink 3.7 liters of water a day (or roughly 15 8-ounce glasses daily).

Most doctors recommend drinking eight or nine glasses of water a day. If you have a chronic medical condition, such as congestive heart failure, talk to your doctor first about how much fluid you require.

Anytime you are feeling faint, tired, or dizzy, don’t just go lie down.  Consider that your body is trying to tell you something — and it could be that it’s thirsty. Go get a glass of water.  It could change your whole day!

As a naturopath and homeopath, I believe that mental, emotional, and spiritual health are an integral part of overall health and are strongly connected with each other. While I help people resolve their physical imbalance through nutrition, herbs and homeopathy, I have often found that in order to help the body heal at the physical level, we need to address underlying trauma or energy blockages that are keeping us stuck in patterns that do not serve us. Gold Standard EFT is a magnificent tool that can help clear the blocks to our greatness and therefore help us thrive at all levels.

I am an ACEP Certified EFT Practitioner and Relationship coach. I have a ACAP (advanced) EFT certification that means it is a Gold Standard EFT. The benefits of Gold Standard EFT is that we work with methodical approach using solid testing. We work in specific events instead of surface treatments. EFT is a precious and important part of my work. By using EFT on my clients, it helps relieve their pains and distresses. Since I began performing EFT, every day I am more surprised by the results of this magnificent technique.

Ben is a Certified Advanced Practitioner of EFT and was trained by Tina Craig with the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology. Ben has been in practice since 2000 and has done thousands of Tapping sessions, specializing in Trauma and Peak Performance coaching. "The Zone" is an optimum state of flow that occurs when the mind and body are in a balanced state. Past emotional or physical traumas can disrupt the energy, disturb the mind, create fear and tension, and prevent you from getting into the Zone. EFT is a way to free the mind and expand possibilities. Phone/Skype available.

Having experienced the real benefits of Gold Standard EFT and gone through training with Tina Craig, I use only this modality for resolving physical and emotional discomfort. It offers an in-depth approach, working on specific events and core issues, as opposed to surface treatments, which brings measurable, lasting results. I love seeing the shifts and changes the clients experience, feeling noticably more relaxed, confident and happy. I'm bilingual in English and Slovene. I tap in both languages, in person (if in Slovenia) or via Skype.

I’m a HCPC registered dietitian who is very comfortable using the thorough techniques Gold Standard EFT has to offer when supporting clients target the early root causes of their nutritional issues using a holistic, collaborative and compassionate approach. I delight in supporting clients achieve lasting, measurable results with conditions such as weight management, emotional eating, IBS and eating disorders, which often have emotional drivers. I’m privileged to witness, with admiration, the transformation clients achieve when focused on embracing their own peace, power and possibilities.

In addition to designing the EFT training here at EmoFree.com, I work with clients to resolve their longer term emotional issues with Gold Standard EFT. I am fascinated by the healing process and have developed a great interest in exploring how our past experiences form the beliefs and issues we want to overcome today. It is an honor for me to play a role in the transformational process, and I greatly admire those who are willing to make real change. I work mostly with longer term chronic cases. However, I believe that almost anyone could benefit greatly from clearing out backlog from the past. A few decades of "small stuff" can certainly accumulate, and the possibilities are endless once you clear it out.

Stress and challenging relationships, together with wounds and unhelpful "programming” from the past, can drag us down and block us from reaching our true potential. EFT can be thought of a psychological/emotional reboot - viruses and mental malware are removed. No matter what your issue is, chances are excellent EFT can help. The training I received in EFT is the highest quality available, and has equipped me with the tools that will help you get straight to the root of your issues.
