THE HIDDEN MAN OF THE HEART
SOMETIME ago I was asked to write an article on the Psychology of the New Birth.
As I began to study the problem, I saw that there is no Psychology of the New Birth, for the New Birth is not mental, but spiritual.
Psychology has to do with the mind, and the New Birth has to do with the "hidden man of the heart," or the spirit of man.
You understand that man is in God's class of being. When he was created in the Garden he was made in the image and likeness of God. He had to be a spirit being because God is a Spirit.
He was created so that, by partaking of God's nature, he might become a child of God. If he were but a physical being he could not receive God's nature. If he were but a mental being, he could not receive God's nature.
He had to be a spirit being, an eternal being who would live as long as God lives. Man had to be in God's class.
He had to be created so that he could be the companion and associate of Deity.
God gave him authority over all the laws of nature. Every living thing was subject to him.
This same authority was evidently given to Jesus. During His earth walk He ruled the laws of nature, changed water into wine, restored the maimed limbs, calmed the seas, and raised the dead.
This first man was a spirit in God's class, When he committed High Treason he became a partaker of Satan's nature. He was actually born again, and he became a new Satanic creation. Because man is a spirit being, it was his spirit that partook of Satan's nature.
Before the fall in the Garden, during his fellowship with God, his spirit ruled him, and his senses were subject to his spirit. But, when he sinned, and his spirit received the nature of the Adversary, it became subordinated to his senses.

他必定是灵体，是与神同在的永恒存在。人必须与神同属一类。
他必须被创造，才能成为神的伴侣和伙伴。
神赋予他掌管自然界一切法则的权柄。一切生物都服从他。
显然，同样的权柄也赐给了耶稣。在他行走于世期间，他掌管自然法则，将水变成酒，使残疾的肢体复原，平静海面，使死人复活。
这第一个人是与神同属一类的灵体。当他犯下叛国罪时，他便分享了撒旦的本性。他实际上重生了，成为了撒旦创造的新生命。因为人是灵体，所以是他的灵分享了撒旦的本性。

L'HOMME CACHÉ DU CŒUR
Il y a quelque temps, on m'a demandé d'écrire un article sur la psychologie de la nouvelle naissance.
En commençant à étudier le problème, j'ai constaté qu'il n'existe pas de psychologie de la nouvelle naissance, car celle-ci n'est pas mentale, mais spirituelle.
La psychologie concerne l'esprit, tandis que la nouvelle naissance concerne « l'homme caché du cœur », ou l'esprit de l'homme.
Vous comprenez que l'homme appartient à la catégorie des êtres divins. Lorsqu'il fut créé dans le Jardin d'Éden, il fut fait à l'image et à la ressemblance de Dieu. Il devait être un être spirituel, car Dieu est Esprit.
Il fut créé afin que, par participation à la nature divine, il puisse devenir enfant de Dieu. S'il n'était qu'un être physique, il ne pourrait recevoir la nature divine. S'il n'était qu'un être mental, il ne pourrait la recevoir non plus.
Il devait être un être spirituel, un être éternel qui vivrait aussi longtemps que Dieu. L'homme devait être de la même catégorie que Dieu.
Il devait être créé pour être le compagnon et l'associé de la Divinité.
Dieu lui donna autorité sur toutes les lois de la nature. Tout être vivant lui était soumis.
Cette même autorité fut manifestement donnée à Jésus. Durant son séjour sur terre, il régna sur les lois de la nature, changea l'eau en vin, guérit les membres mutilés, apaisa les mers et ressuscita les morts.
Ce premier homme était un esprit de la même catégorie que Dieu. Lorsqu'il commit la haute trahison, il participa à la nature de Satan. Il naquit de nouveau et devint une nouvelle créature satanique. Puisque l'homme est un être spirituel, c'est son esprit qui participa à la nature de Satan.
Avant la chute dans le jardin d'Éden, lorsqu'il était en communion avec Dieu, son esprit le gouvernait et ses sens lui étaient soumis. Mais lorsqu'il pécha et que son esprit reçut la nature de l'Adversaire, il devint subordonné à ses sens.
I believe that before Adam fell his five senses played only a small part; the instant he fell his spirit lost dominion, and his five senses took over. He now relied upon his senses: seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling and feeling,
He was driven from the presence of God. He was in an enemy world. He had to see clearly, lest he lose his life. He had to hear keenly, or an animal would take advantage of him. His taste must tell him what was good to eat. His touch must tell him whether an object was hot or cold, sharp, or rough.
Adam gained an education through his five senses. His spirit was being made the prisoner of his five senses. The Psalmist cried, "Bring my soul out of prison." Psalms 142:7.
The Hebrew word should have been translated "spirit" instead of "soul."
It was the cry of the spirit for liberty. It has been the cry for freedom down through the ages.
Man's spirit lost contact with God. His body became mortal, subject to death. This was the condition in which Jesus found the human race when He broke into the sense realm to introduce the Father to sense knowledge man.
Here are some spirit facts: man is a spirit, he has a soul. The soul is composed of his reasoning faculties. He lives in a physical body. The physical body possesses the five senses, they are the educators and teachers of the brain.
Let it be clearly understood that the brain cannot function without the senses.
If a child were born without sight, hearing, or feeling, he would be called an imbecile.
He may have just as good an intellect as the other children, but the senses have no way to contact it. The brain is dependent upon the five senses.
The spiritually dead man's spirit is in harmony with Satan. His spirit does not object if he commits murder.
You remember how Paul told Agrippa, "I lived in all good conscience." That was during the time he was consenting to the death of the believers.
His conscience permitted him to do it. That conscience was the voice of a spiritually dead man, a Satan-ruled spirit.
Je crois qu'avant la chute d'Adam, ses cinq sens ne jouaient qu'un rôle mineur ; à l'instant même de sa chute, son esprit perdit son autonomie et ses cinq sens prirent le dessus. Il dépendait désormais de ses sens : la vue, l'ouïe, le goût, l'odorat et le toucher.
Il fut chassé de la présence de Dieu. Il se trouvait dans un monde hostile. Il devait voir clairement, sous peine de perdre la vie. Il devait tendre l'oreille, sinon un animal profiterait de lui. Son goût devait lui indiquer ce qui était bon à manger. Son toucher devait lui révéler si un objet était chaud ou froid, pointu ou rugueux.
Adam s'instruisait grâce à ses cinq sens. Son esprit était rendu prisonnier de ses cinq sens. Le psalmiste s'écria : « Fais sortir mon âme de prison ! » (Psaume 142:7).
Le mot hébreu aurait dû être traduit par « esprit » et non par « âme ».
C'était le cri de l'esprit pour la liberté. C'est le cri de la liberté qui résonne à travers les âges.
L'esprit de l'homme a perdu le contact avec Dieu. Son corps est devenu mortel, sujet à la mort. C'est dans cet état que Jésus a trouvé l'humanité lorsqu'il est intervenu dans le monde des sens pour présenter au Père l'homme et sa connaissance sensorielle.
Voici quelques faits concernant l'esprit : l'homme est un esprit, il possède une âme. L'âme est composée de ses facultés de raisonnement. Il vit dans un corps physique. Le corps physique possède les cinq sens, qui sont les éducateurs et les guides du cerveau.
Il est essentiel de comprendre que le cerveau ne peut fonctionner sans les sens.
Si un enfant naissait sans vue, sans ouïe et sans toucher, on le qualifierait d'imbécile.
Il pourrait avoir une intelligence aussi développée que celle des autres enfants, mais les sens n'ont aucun moyen d'y accéder. Le cerveau dépend des cinq sens.
L'esprit de l'homme spirituellement mort est en harmonie avec Satan. Son esprit ne s'oppose pas à ce qu'il commette un meurtre.
Vous vous souvenez de ce que Paul a dit à Agrippa : « J'ai vécu en toute conscience. » C'était à l'époque où il consentait à la mort des croyants.
Sa conscience le lui permettait. Cette conscience était la voix d'un homme spirituellement mort, un esprit dominé par Satan.
Here are some names that the spirit is called in the Epistles: the "Old Man"..."Put off the old man with its doings"; the "New Man"..."And put on the new man created after the image and likeness of God."
He is also called "the hidden man of the heart."
The spirit is the real man. The body is not the real man, it is merely the home in which the spirit lives.
The mind is not the real man, because the mind can be destroyed by destroying the senses.
The real man is the "hidden man of the heart," or the "hidden spirit."
Here is the proof of it: "Wherefore if any man is in Christ there is a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold they have become new. But all these things are of God." He is called a New Creation.
Another translator makes it read like this:"Wherefore if any man is in Christ there is a new self."
That is in perfect harmony with Ezekiel 36:26 where the prophecy of a New Creation is given, "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you."
The words "heart" and "spirit" are used interchangeably all through the Old and New Testaments.
God says that He is going to give man a new spirit. He is going to make a new man out of him. He is going to give him a new heart (or spirit) which will make him a New Creation.
What striking statements these are! Man is going to be Recreated. The sin nature is to be taken out of him. He will no longer be called the "Qld Man." He is going to be called the "New Man" in Christ.
As the sinner, he is the "Old Man" who cannot approach God except through Christ; he does not know Him as a Father. Now God has performed a miracle. He has recreated him. The "Old Man" has stopped being, and a "New Man" has taken his place. A New Creation comes into being.
This "hidden man of the heart" is now a "New Man," a new self. The old self was born of spiritual death, the nature of the Adversary. The new self is born of love, the nature of the Father God.

Voici quelques noms donnés à l'esprit dans les Épîtres : le « vieil homme »… « Rejetez le vieil homme et ses œuvres » ; l'« homme nouveau »… « Revêtez-vous de l'homme nouveau, créé à l'image et à la ressemblance de Dieu. »
Il est aussi appelé « l'homme caché du cœur ».
L'esprit est l'homme véritable. Le corps n'est pas l'homme véritable, il n'est que la demeure de l'esprit.
L'intellect n'est pas l'homme véritable, car l'intellect peut être détruit par la destruction des sens.
L'homme véritable est « l'homme caché du cœur », ou « l'esprit caché ».
Voici la preuve : « Si quelqu'un est en Christ, il est une nouvelle créature. Les choses anciennes sont passées ; voici, toutes choses sont devenues nouvelles. Et tout cela vient de Dieu. » Il est appelé une nouvelle création.
Un autre traducteur dit : « Si quelqu'un est en Christ, il est une nouvelle personne. »
Cela est en parfaite harmonie avec Ézéchiel 36:26, où est prophétie la Nouvelle Création : « Je vous donnerai aussi un cœur nouveau, et je mettrai en vous un esprit nouveau. »
Les mots « cœur » et « esprit » sont utilisés de manière interchangeable dans tout l'Ancien et le Nouveau Testament.
Dieu dit qu'il va donner à l'homme un esprit nouveau. Il va faire de lui un homme nouveau. Il va lui donner un cœur (ou un esprit) nouveau, ce qui fera de lui une Nouvelle Création.
Quelles affirmations saisissantes ! L'homme va être recréé. La nature pécheresse va être ôtée de lui. Il ne sera plus appelé « l'homme du Queensland ». Il sera appelé « l'homme nouveau » en Christ.
En tant que pécheur, il est le « vieil homme » qui ne peut s'approcher de Dieu que par Christ ; il ne le connaît pas comme Père. Or, Dieu a accompli un miracle. Il l'a recréé. Le « Vieil Homme » a disparu, et un « Homme Nouveau » a pris sa place. Une Nouvelle Création voit le jour.
Cet « homme caché du cœur » est désormais un « homme nouveau », un être nouveau. L'ancien être était né de la mort spirituelle, de la nature de l'Adversaire. L'être nouveau est né de l'amour, de la nature de Dieu le Père.
He is a new Creation and he is created in Christ Jesus. Henceforth, he is going to have a new kind of walk.
The old self was in fellowship with the Adversary, the New Creation is in fellowship with the Father.
Here are a few valuable facts: the old creation had no standing with God. They could not approach Him. From the fall of man until Christ came, no human being could approach God except under the atoning blood of bulls and goats.
The New Creation man, who came into being on the Day of Pentecost, could stand in the Father's presence as though sin had never been.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
"Who can lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God who has declared him righteous."
This New Creation man has become the righteousness of God in Christ.
You can now see that Christianity is God dealing with the spirit of man. He imparts to man His nature, making man a New Creation.
He is as much a New Creation as was Adam in the Garden. God makes His contact with man through his spirit, not his senses.
The development of the human spirit is imperative. We have wondered how this unseen, unknown personality could be developed. We know now.
He is a partaker of the Divine Nature.
The first manifestation of that Divine Nature is the new kind of love.
The development, then, of this New Creation is going to be by the nature of the Father taking him over.
In other words, he begins to walk in love, live the love life, practice the Word, and fellowship with the Father.
Jesus' earth walk was a perfect example of this new love life.
The Father can unveil the Word to a man's spirit so that it becomes a living thing in his daily walk.
Love becomes his natural realm. He lives love. He thinks love. He is love, because he is a child of love. God is love.
他是新造的人，是在基督耶稣里被造的。他将拥有全新的生命。
旧我与仇敌相交，新造的人与父相交。
以下是一些重要的事实：旧造的人在神面前毫无地位，他们无法亲近神。从人类堕落到基督降生，除非借着牛羊的赎罪之血，否则没有人能亲近神。
在五旬节那天诞生的新造的人，可以站在父面前，如同罪从未存在过一样。

现在你明白了，基督教是神与人的灵互动。他将自己的性情赐予人，使人成为新造的人。
他与伊甸园中的亚当一样，都是新造的人。神通过人的灵，而非感官，与人接触。
人灵的成长至关重要。我们曾疑惑，这看不见、未知的生命是如何成长的。现在我们知道了。
他分享了神的性情。
这神性的首要彰显便是全新的爱。
因此，这新造的人的成长，乃是藉着父的性情临到他。
换句话说，他开始行在爱中，活出爱的生命，实践神的话语，并与父相交。
耶稣在世的行径，正是这全新爱的生命的完美典范。
父能将神的话语启示给人的灵，使之成为他日常生活中活出来的一部分。
爱成为他自然的领域。他活出爱。他思考爱。他就是爱，因为他是爱的儿女。神就是爱。
Il est une nouvelle création, créé en Jésus-Christ. Il va vivre une vie nouvelle.
L'ancien être était en communion avec l'Adversaire ; la nouvelle création est en communion avec le Père.
Voici quelques vérités importantes : l'ancienne création n'avait aucune relation avec Dieu. Elle ne pouvait l'approcher. De la chute de l'homme jusqu'à la venue du Christ, nul ne pouvait s'approcher de Dieu sans le sacrifice expiatoire des taureaux et des boucs.
L'homme de la nouvelle création, né le jour de la Pentecôte, pouvait se tenir en présence du Père comme si le péché n'avait jamais existé.
« Il n'y a donc maintenant aucune condamnation pour ceux qui sont en Jésus-Christ. »
« Qui accusera les élus de Dieu ? C'est Dieu qui les a déclarés justes. »
Cet homme de la nouvelle création est devenu la justice de Dieu en Christ.
On comprend alors que le christianisme est l'œuvre de Dieu dans l'esprit de l'homme. Il lui communique sa nature, faisant de lui une nouvelle création. Il est une Création aussi nouvelle qu'Adam l'était au Jardin d'Éden. Dieu entre en contact avec l'homme par son esprit, non par ses sens.
Le développement de l'esprit humain est essentiel. Nous nous sommes longtemps interrogés sur la manière dont cette personnalité invisible et inconnue pouvait se développer. Nous le savons maintenant.
Il participe à la Nature Divine.
La première manifestation de cette Nature Divine est un amour nouveau.
Le développement de cette Création Nouvelle se fera donc par la transformation de la nature du Père en lui.
Autrement dit, il commence à marcher dans l'amour, à vivre une vie d'amour, à mettre en pratique la Parole et à communier avec le Père.
Le séjour de Jésus sur terre fut un parfait exemple de cette vie d'amour nouvelle.
Le Père peut révéler la Parole à l'esprit de l'homme afin qu'elle devienne vivante dans sa vie quotidienne.
L'amour devient son élément naturel. Il vit l'amour. Il pense amour. Il est amour, car il est enfant d'amour. Dieu est amour.
