Letter # 7 from Jacob to Aaron.

Dear Aaron,

It is about time you wrote to me to let me know how the building firm is going. I don't seem to have heard from you for months and months. Simeon in our village tells me that he stayed in one of the houses you built and that it was really warm and cosy and even had straight walls!

Hannah and I went to see the preacher man up in Galilee - I had to go up there to do some things for my dad who, you'll recall, has friends up in Capernaum. Anyway we heard about this chap gathering a huge crowd so we thought we'd go and see what the fuss was all about. We guessed that it was probably the same preacher that Hannah had been to see when she ended up nearly drowning in the Jordan. By the time we had found a baby sitter - three boys and a girl are quite a handful to take on a jaunt like this one the crowd had been with the guy for hours and hours but there were still lots of people arriving and not very many leaving. It seems that the preaching bit had come to an end lucky escape, I hear you say but we went and chatted to some of the people who had been listening all morning and they said that the preacher was really, really good but what he said was really, really hard to live with. While we were chatting, a guy called James came over with bread and fish for dinner, loads and loads of it. We tucked in with everyone else and were well stuffed, I can tell you. Same guy came back a bit later to collect up the leftovers and there was a fair bit of that! I have a feeling that I've seen this guy, James, before but I couldn't place where or when. I suppose he must work for some catering company and whoever they are, they are pretty good. Try as I could, I couldn't find the name of the company anywhere and they didn't even seem to have any catering carts there i thought that a bit odd but I guess they were just out of sight somewhere. Never did get to hear the preacher chap but one of the others pointed out a guy in white surrounded by a group of folks on the other hillside and said it was him. Judging by the clothes, I think the James chap had gone back over there to him. Hannah reckons the preacher she saw before wore brown hairy clothes and looked a lot more dishevelled than this guy so perhaps she's been to see two preachers now - mustn't let it become a habit!

 הגיע הזמן שתכתבי לי לספר לי איך חברת הבניין מתקדמת. נראה שלא שמעתי ממך חודשים על גבי חודשים. שמעון בכפר שלנו מספר לי שהוא נשאר באחד הבתים שבניתם ושהיה ממש חם ונעים ואפילו היו לו קירות ישרים!

 חנה ואני הלכנו לראות את המטיף בגליל - הייתי צריך לעלות לשם לעשות כמה דברים בשביל אבא שלי, כזכור, יש לו חברים בכפר נחום. בכל מקרה שמענו על החבר הזה שאסף קהל עצום אז חשבנו שנלך לראות על מה המהומה. ניחשנו שזה כנראה אותו מטיף שחנה הייתה ראתה כשהיא בסופו של דבר כמעט טבעה בירדן. עד שמצאנו בייביסיטר - שלושה בנים ובת הם די קומץ לקחת לטיול כמו זה, הקהל היה עם הבחור שעות על גבי שעות אבל עדיין היו הרבה אנשים שהגיעו ולא הרבה מאוד עֲזִיבָה. נראה שקטע ההטפה הסתיים בריחה מזל, אני שומע אותך אומר אבל הלכנו ופטפטנו עם כמה מהאנשים שהקשיבו כל הבוקר והם אמרו שהמטיף היה ממש ממש טוב אבל מה שהוא אמר היה ממש ממש קשה לחיות איתו. בזמן שדיברנו, בא בחור בשם ג'יימס עם לחם ודגים לארוחת ערב, המון המון. התחבקנו עם כולם והיינו ממולאים היטב, אני יכול לומר לך. אותו בחור חזר קצת מאוחר יותר כדי לאסוף את השאריות והיה לא מעט מזה! יש לי הרגשה שראיתי את הבחור הזה, ג'יימס, בעבר אבל לא הצלחתי לקבוע איפה ומתי. אני מניח שהוא חייב לעבוד באיזו חברת קייטרינג ומי שלא יהיו, הם די טובים. נסה ככל שיכולתי, לא הצלחתי למצוא את שם החברה בשום מקום ולא נראה שיש להם אפילו עגלות קייטרינג שם, חשבתי שזה קצת מוזר אבל אני מניח שהם פשוט לא היו מהעין איפשהו. מעולם לא הספקתי לשמוע את המטיף אבל אחד האחרים הצביע על בחור בלבן מוקף בקבוצה של אנשים על צלע הגבעה השנייה ואמר שזה הוא. אם לשפוט לפי הבגדים, אני חושב שהחבר של ג'יימס חזר לשם אליו. האנה חושבת שהמטיף שראתה לפני כן לבש בגדים שעירים חומים ונראה הרבה יותר פרוע מהבחור הזה אז אולי היא הייתה לראות שני מטיפים עכשיו - אסור לתת לזה להפוך להרגל!
