The Discovery of Schumann Resonance

When we consider that the ionosphere surrounding our planet is electrically positive charged whilst the earth's surface carries a negative charge, we must conclude that this amounts to a prevailing electrical tension within the earth/ionosphere cavity. This tension is discharged when thunderstorms develop in this cavity. In physics two concentric electrically charged balls, one placed inside the other, are called ball condensers, or capacitors.

The inside of the ionosphere layer is used in wireless information transfer to bounce off radio waves emitted by transmitters on the earth's surface. In this way the information can be transferred over large distances.

The physicist and inventor Nikola Tesla was the first to carry out wireless energy experiments at Colorado Springs, USA, which produced such powerful electrical tensions that they resulted in the creation of artificial lightning. These lightning flashes also produced radio waves. Due to their extremely low frequency these waves could penetrate the earth without resistance and thereby Tesla discovered the resonance frequency of the earth. Unfortunately Tesla was before his time and his discoveries were not taken seriously.

It wasn't until more than half a century later in 1952, when the German physicist Professor W.O.Schumann of the Technical University of Munich predicted that there are electromagnetic standing waves in the atmosphere, within the cavity formed by the surface of the earth and the ionosphere. This came about by Schumann teaching his students about the physics of electricity. During a lesson about ball condensers he asked them to calculate the frequency between the inner and outer ball, meaning the earth and ionosphere layer. They came up with a calculation of 10Hz.

This was confirmed in 1954 when measurements by Schumann and König detected resonances at a main frequency of 7.83 Hz. In the years following this discovery, several investigators worldwide have researched "Schumann resonance" and a number of properties and characteristics have now been established.

Schumann Resonance Properties
Image result for spherical earth-ionosphere cavity

The spherical earth-ionosphere cavity is created by the conductive surface of the earth and the outer boundary of the ionosphere, separated by non-conducting air. Electromagnetic impulses are generated by electrical discharges such as lightning, the main excitation source, and spread laterally into the cavity. Lightning discharges have a "high-frequency component", involving frequencies between 1 kHz and 30 kHz, followed by a "low-frequency component" consisting of waves and frequencies below 2 kHz and gradually increasing amplitude. This produces electromagnetic waves in the very low frequency (VLF) and extremely low frequency (ELF) ranges.
ELF waves at 3 Hz to 300 Hz are propagated as more or less strongly attenuated waves in the space between the earth and the ionosphere, which provides a waveguide for the signals. Certain wavelengths circumnavigate the earth with little attenuation due to the fact that standing waves are formed within the cavity, the circumference of which is "approximately equal to the wavelength which an electromagnetic wave with a frequency of about 7.8 Hz would have in free space" (König, 1979, p34). It is the waves of this frequency and its harmonics at 14, 20, 26, 33, 39 and 45 Hz that form Schumann Resonances.

On a global scale the total resonant spectrum is the effect of the global lightning worldwide which is estimated at an average of 100 strokes per second. Since there is a concentration of lightning activity during the afternoon in Southeast Asia, Africa and America there are Schumann Resonance amplitude peaks at 10, 16 and 22 UT (universal time), with activity over America around 22 UT being dominant.

There are also +/-0.5 Hz variations in the center frequency, caused by a diurnal increase in ionization of the ionosphere as a result of radiation from the sun, having the effect of reducing the height of the ionosphere at 12 local time. Another factor which influences center frequency is sunspot activity.

A Tuning Fork for Life

Although the existence of the Schumann Resonance is an established scientific fact, there are very few scientists who are aware of the importance of this frequency as a tuning fork for Life. I propose that it is not merely a phenomenon caused by lightning in the atmosphere, but a very important electromagnetic standing wave, acting as background frequency and influencing biological oscillators within the mammalian brain.
At the time when Schumann published his research results in the journal `Technische Physik', Dr Ankermueller, a physician, immediately made the connection between the Schumann resonance and the alpha rhythm of brainwaves. He found the thought of the earth having the same natural resonance as the brain very exciting and contacted Professor Schumann, who in turn asked a doctorate candidate to look into this phenomenon. This candidate was Herbert König who became Schumann's successor at Munich University. König demonstrated a correlation between Schumann Resonances and brain rhythms. He compared human EEG recordings with natural electromagnetic fields of the environment (1979) and found that the main frequency produced by Schumann oscillations is very close to the frequency of alpha rhythms.

Natural electromagnetic processes in the environment (I-IV), human EEG readings in comparison. Schumann oscillations (I) and the EEG a-rhythm, as well as locally conditioned fluctuations of the electric field (II) and the EEG d-rhythm, show a noticable similarity in their temporal variation. From König, 1979.

Dr König carried out further measurements of Schumann resonance and eventually arrived at a frequency of exactly 7.83 Hz, which is even more interesting, as this frequency is one which applies to mammals. For instance, septal driving of the hippocampal rhythm in rats has been found to have a minimum threshold at 7.7 Hz (Gray, 1982).

This relationship has been explored by a number of investigators. For further information see Natural electromagnetic fields research on the h.e.s.e. project website.

One of the foremost researchers in this field is Dr Wolfgang Ludwig, who has been investigating Schumann Resonance and its place in nature for many years.

The Research of Dr. Wolfgang Ludwig

It was Dr Wolfgang Ludwig who carried out further measurements whilst writing his thesis on the Schumann Resonance. His aim was to measure what kind of natural signals actually exist in a healthy environment. He became aware of the fact that due to manmade electromagnetic signals within the atmosphere, the accurate measurement of Schumann waves was almost impossible in the city. For this reason he decided to take measurements out at sea where, due to good electrical conductivity, the Schumann waves are stronger. He than had the idea to take underground measurements in mines. Here he recognized that the magnetic field of the earth fluctuated too. This was also investigated by Dr Robert Becker in his book `Electricity and Vitality: The spark of Life'.
Dr Ludwig came up with an excellent idea to take accurate measurements. When taking measurements at the earth's surface, the reading is the result of two signals, one coming from above and one from below. But subsequently taking measurements below ground makes it possible to come up with exact readings by separating the two.

YIN and YANG

During his research Dr Ludwig came across the ancient Chinese teachings which state that Man needs two environmental signals: the YANG (masculine) signal from above and the YIN (feminine) signal from below. This description fits the relatively strong signal of the Schumann wave surrounding our planet being YANG and the weaker geomagnetic waves coming from below, from within the planet, being the YIN signal
The Chinese teachings state that to achieve perfect health, both signals must be in balance. Dr Ludwig found that this is indeed the case. He writes in his book `Informative Medizin' that research carried out by E.Jacobi at the University of Duesseldorf showed that the one sided use of Schumann (YANG) wave simulation without the geomagnetic (YIN) signal caused serious health problems. On the other hand, the absence of Schumann waves creates a similar situation. Professor R.Wever from the Max Planck Institute for Behavioural Physiology in Erling-Andechs, built an underground bunker which completely screened out magnetic fields. Student volunteers lived there for four weeks in this hermetically sealed environment. Professor Wever noted that the student's circadian rhythms diverged and that they suffered emotional distress and migraine headaches. As they were young and healthy, no serious health conditions arose, which would not have been the case with older people or people with a compromised immune system. After only a brief exposure to 7.8 Hz (the very frequency which had been screened out), the volunteers health stabilized again.

The same complaints were reported by the first astronauts and cosmonauts, who, out in space, also were no longer exposed to the Schumann waves. Now modern spacecrafts are said to contain a device which simulates the Schumann waves.

All the aforesaid points to the fact that the ancient teachings are correct. Mankind depends on two subtle environmental signals, the Yin from below and the Yang from above.

The urgent need for further research into the Schumann Resonance Effect

Although Schumann Resonance could easily be confirmed by measurements at the time of its discovery, it is no longer so obvious due to our atmosphere being filled with manmade radiation noise at different frequencies. This is almost drowning out the natural signals - signals that have been there through aeons of evolution. It is possible that these signals act like a natural tuning fork, not just for the biological oscillators of the brain, but for all processes of life.
With the advent of new wireless technology, in particular microwaves pulsed at frequencies close to Schumann Resonance as in mobile telephony, another threat is emerging. We may be creating an environment that is literally `out of tune' with Nature itself. And it is at this point that there is an urgent need for us to understand how everything alive responds to the most subtle changes in magnetic and electromagnetic fields surrounding us. For instance, we need to examine the possible interaction between magnetite crystals within cells and manmade magnetic fields in the environment.

There is a great need for independent research into the bio-compatibility between natural and manmade signals. By linking together the potential importance of Schumann Resonance and the dangers posed by manmade pulsed frequencies, it will become apparent that unless we find a way to use bio-compatible signals to power new technology, we may expose all life to dangers previously not encountered. We may have to pay a high price for this shortsightedness. Serious attention must now be paid to the possible biological role of standing waves in the atmosphere, so that we do not overlook the importance of oscillations in nature that may be central to consciousness and life itself.

The late Dr Neil Cherry, a fierce opponent of the frequencies used in mobile telephony, has also focused on the importance of Schumann Resonance in his publications 'Schumann Resonances, a plausible biophysical mechanism for the human health effects of Solar/Geomagnetic Activity' (2002), and 'Human intelligence: The brain, an electromagnetic system synchronised by the Schumann Resonance signal' (2003).

If organisms do in fact respond to, and perhaps depend on, electromagnetic fields as weak as that produced by Schumann resonance at 0.22-1.12 mV/m (from Cherry, 2002), this is of major significance for the development of present and future wireless technologies. Funding for research projects investigating the Schumann Resonance Effect is now being sought and scientists who support this call for research are invited to contact by e-mail.

Our Earth is a restless planet. Occasionally - quite often, in some regions of the world - the restlessness turns deadly. Of all natural hazards, earthquakes are the most feared. They are feared because they seem to strike so unpredictably. Yet, for centuries, and even millennia, people living in seismically active regions have noted premonitory signals. The historical records talk of changes of the water level in wells, of strange weather, of ground-hugging fog, of unusual behavior of animals (both domestic and wild) that seem to feel the approach of a major earthquake. With the advent of modern science and technology the list of premonitory signals has become even longer. Among them are

1.Sporadic emissions of low to ultralow-frequency electromagnetic radiation from the ground
2.Occasional local magnetic field anomalies reaching a strength of half a percent of the Earth's main dipole field
3.Changes in the lower atmosphere that are accompanied by the formation of haze and a reduction of moisture in the air
4.Large patches, often tens to hundreds of thousands of square kilometers in size, seen in night-time infrared satellite images where the land surface temperature seems to fluctuate rapidly
5.Passing perturbations in the ionosphere at 90 - 120 km altitude that affect the transmission of radio waves

Deciphering these signals and learning how to "read" them has remained a source of great frustration. Many seismologists have lost faith that earthquakes would ever become predictable beyond statistical probabilities, which leave uncertainties of years, even decades. Some seismologists have proclaimed categorically that, due to their chaotic nature, earthquakes are fundamentally unpredictable.

However, given so many well-supported historical and modern indicators that the Earth does indeed send out premonitory signals, the naysayers should not deter us. Maybe we do not yet understand deeply enough the nature of earthquakes and the physics of the signals that the Earth sends out. --Friedemann Freund, NASA

Introduction

The statistical average for Class 6+ quakes is one every two days somewhere in the world, most probably in the Ring of Fire. But they tend to group around the Lunar Full and New phases. It is a virtual certainty to have a Class 6+ quake every syzygy or within a day. It is generally true that you will get two or three within a three day syzygy window.

Known and hidden fractures in the earth's crust continue to threaten the world economy. Some researchers expect increased quake activity due to increased solar activity and magma plume movement arising from the cooling dynamics of earth's core. As we learn to deal with many vectors of climate change, it becomes necessary to maximize our anticipatory skills of such potentially catastrophic outcomes.

Earth is a dynamo. When the sun reaches deep into the earth, it "talks" to her and modifies the generator within her. The ionosphere is one poorly understood channel. The sun interacts magnetically with the solid Earth, reaching down into the crust, generating forces that can trigger earthquakes that either rupture or slide.

Before major earthquakes, the crust "talks" back to the ionosphere, causing perturbations. Magnetic field maxima and minima move around over the surface of the earth. The total amount of coupling changes over time. Electrochemical loops cross, increasing quake likelihood.

Earth itself acts as a magnet. Minerals in the earth’s crust contain dormant electronic charge carriers. They act like electronic crystals when energized. Squeezing, heating or stressing such rocks activates them so waves can travel through the earth for kilometers changing conductivity, generating Lorenz force interacting with tectonic force vectors, pushing the system over the edge.

ULF

Ultra-low frequency (ULF) is the frequency range of electromagnetic waves between 300 hertz and 3 kilohertz. In magnetosphere science and seismology, alternative definitions are usually given, including ranges from 1 mHz to 100 Hz, 1 mHz to 1 Hz, 10 mHz to 10 Hz. Frequencies above 3 Hz in atmosphere science are usually assigned to the ELF range. Some monitoring stations have reported that earthquakes are sometimes preceded by a spike in ULF activity. A remarkable example of this occurred before the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in California. On December 9, 2010, geoscientists announced that the DEMETER satellite observed a dramatic increase in ULF radio waves over Haiti in the month before the magnitude 7.0 Mw 2010 earthquake. Researchers are attempting to learn more about this correlation to find out whether this method can be used as part of an early warning system for earthquakes. --Wikipedia, Ulta-Low Frequency

Ultra-low frequency (0.01-10 Hz) magnetic field anomalies prior to and following M > 6.5 earthquakes have
been reported from a number of different regions of the world. Continuous recording of the magnetic and electric
field before, during and after, and spatially close to, a significant earthquake, is required to demonstrate the reality or
absence of ULF EM signals. ULF spectrum contains the highest frequency signals that can reach the Earth’s surface with little attenuation. Magnetic storms can create higher than usual noise levels.

Meaningful analysis of ULF EM signals can only be done using continuous recordings at multiple sites, in order
to remove natural variations in the external (solar) field. Records from a single station (as with the ULF EM signals
recorded prior to the Loma Prieta earthquake) are not sufficient to overcome the burden of proof required of
proposed earthquake precursors, so stations should be close enough that two stations can record EM signals from a
single earthquake. (Klemperer)

Rapid magnetic field variations lead to ULF emissions. They ionize the plasma in the atmosphere, measurably perturbing the ionosphere, the coupling mechanism. Stressed rocks are active charge carriers which turns them into batteries. The driving force is deep magma and tectonic strain. Electric currents, up to millions of amperes, start to flow like in a semiconductor battery, perturbing earthquakes. Currents up to millions of amperes flow along stress gradients, fluctuating and emitting EM radiation. Therefore, Earth emits powerful broadband EM waves prior to quakes, in microhertz to about 20 hz. extremely low frequencies (ULF).

The earth hosts waves much like the ocean; they are amplified during quakes. Fault mechanics describes the behavior of geologic faults, elements of rock under stress. Triggering can occur by shifting stresses, building strain prior to slippage, or by dynamic change caused by passing seismic waves. Subduction along tectonic plate boundaries is one persistent force leading to seismic activity. Interplate earthquakes result from the motion of tectonic plates.  If rock is modeled as discrete elements in a critical state, a single disturbance can influence a wide area.

There are still areas of North America rebounding from the weight that pressed down in the Ice Age. In places such as the New Madrid fault an incident could disrupt the interior of the US with catastrophic results. Deep sea avalanches from potential quakes and vulcanism, such as Cumbre Vieja, are another detectable vector. Injections of fresh or salt water into fault zones exacerbates their instability.

There are both electric and magnetic components to earthquakes, beneath the planet's surface magnetics.  [Ben, add more on magnetic component]

Tectonic strain creates a piezoelectric effect that is observable and quantifiable prior to seismic displacement events and those not involving major seismic activity. Thus, normal alterations in tectonic (structural) stresses occur within the Earth's crust and are mediated by piezoelectric-like effects. Earthquake lightning, fracture-related luminosities or "earth lights" are one natural phenomena associated with piezoelectrics.

"In a study published in “Nature,” USGS seismologist Fred Pollitz and colleagues analyzed the unprecedented increase in global seismic activity triggered by the Magnitude-8.6 East Indian Ocean quake of April 11, 2012, and in a recently published study in the “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,” seismologist Volkan Sevilgen and his USGS colleagues investigated the near-cessation of seismic activity up to 250 miles away caused by the 2004 M9.2 Sumatra earthquake.

While aftershocks have traditionally been defined as those smaller earthquakes that happen after and nearby the main fault rupture, scientists now recognize that this definition is wrong. Instead, aftershocks are simply earthquakes of any size and location that would not have taken place had the main shock not struck."

Not all faults produce surface traces, and some fault complexes are active at varying depths at different times. Earthquake observation is also one of the most valuable diagnostic precursors to magma movement and volcanic events. Improved detection and prediction might be particularly valuable in identifying aftershocks and in areas prone to "earthquake storms". In earthquake swarms multiple event potentials need to be pin-pointed and notified quickly for emergency mitigation, evacuation, or disaster relief. We might also improve detection of remotely-triggered earthquakes, kindled by very large earthquakes.

Currently, there is no reliable system in effect for the prediction and locating of earthquake potential. Life and property might be saved by such a system, comparable to tsunami warning of volcanic activity alerts. In fact, this methodology could be added to protocols already in place for such warnings, improving them considerably. Recognized in NASA documents, Lonetree has previously made significant contributions to the methodology of monitoring and detecting Schumann Resonance, geomagnetic flux, and space weather.

Electrical engineer, Benjamin Lonetree brings the pragmatism of a true benchman to the challenge of geophysical signal monitoring. Such practitioners prefer to make and improve their own gear in accordance with intuition and knowledge gained from direct experience. Thus, Lonetree wraps his own coils and commissioned the creation of custom software to operate his system. Commerciality is only secondary, or incidental.

As experimentalists, benchmen learn how to refine their systems and readings over time and their proofs are demonstrable and repeatable, when circumstances arise. In this case the construction of equipment and the reading of instrumentation is fully teachable. Lonetree has shared his material via social media, in peer-reviewed journals, and backchannels for a number of years. His methodology is an improvement and upgrade of standard detection, not blue sky research, although it has been largely a solo effort.

Since precursors are likely non-seismological, the short-term earthquake prediction requires a new multi-disciplinary science.

Geopathic stress (GS) is a theory that the Earth resonates with energy – namely, energy from its electromagnetic field with a frequency of about 7.83 Hz (Schumann resonance). The basic idea is that this resonant energy affects human health. Problems emerge when disruptions like underground streams, sewers, water and electric lines, tunnels, minerals, and tectonic faults distort the Earth’s natural energy. Adherents of the theory claim that this “geopathic stress” and other kinds of electromagnetic pollution cause illnesses ranging from fatigue, depression, and sleep problems to diabetes and cancer. Should you be worried about geopathic stress? Probably not.

However, some people think it is possible to locate and resolve sources of geopathic distortion.

Method 1Identifying Disturbance Points

1. Think about what kind of geopathic stress is affecting you. Start with specific questions about the type of stress you are under. Is there a stream flowing under your home? Or are there earth lines crossing to create an overpowering disturbance in your dining room? Try to be specific, as it may affect what solution you take.

~You may be dealing with not one but several sources of energy at once. The distortion caused by an underground stream, for example, might well cross and amplify the force of a geological fault or vortex.

~Keep in mind, too, that energy patterns can be cyclical rather than constant. If your own energy and health fluctuate during the year, it may point to the disturbance – for example, a seasonal underground stream under your home.

2. Use a dowsing wand. Dowsing is thought to be a way to discover subterranean water, minerals, or other objects. The idea is to take a device like a wand, pendulum, or V-shaped rod and hold it in front of you. The wand points to the ground when you are standing over water or your desired object. While dowsing has no scientific basis, some people feel strongly that the attraction of the wand to the ground is a result of electromagnetic energy. Try dowsing yourself or bringing in a practitioner to help you discover the sources of your energy disturbance.

~In order to dowse, you’ll need a wand or V-shaped rod. Even a simple stick works. Start by holding the wand level in front of you. Then, begin to slowly walk around the area in which you suspect there is a disturbance. The wand will be attracted to the ground when you pass over such an area.

~You can also use a pendulum to dowse, or two separate wands that cross when you have located water or an object.

3. Use a compass. Some people feel that compasses are also effective at locating electromagnetic disturbances. To use one, hold it in your hand and turn until the needle is pointing due north. Then, move the compass over the suspected disturbance point. The needle will alert you of any energy distortions by wavering back and forth.

~ Since it is hard to hold a compass steady, this method is best for small areas like a bed, chair, or sofa.

4. Watch the behavior of pets or other animals. The nineteenth century German geomancer Baron Gustav von Pohl made a startling discovery: cats, dogs, insects, and other animals are naturally attracted to areas of earth resonance. One of the simplest indicators of a geopathic stress zone is to be found in the behavior of animals. Look for signs around you.

~Cats, for example, will sleep over such spots. If outdoors, look for bee, wasp, or ant nests over the spot.

~Excessive amounts of slugs, snails, other insects, or parasites is also a good sign of disturbance. Moles, too, burrow along geopathic stress lines.

Method 2Protecting yourself from Disturbances

1. Rearrange your living space. You may be unknowingly exposing yourself to geopathic stress. There may be a disturbance underneath your bed, your dining room table, your bathtub, or your your favorite chair. If you have identified a potential trouble spot, rearrange your furniture to avoid spending too much time over or near the point.

~It may be that the disturbance covers a large area. If you can’t re-position your bed or other furniture away from the stress lines, you will have to consider other options, like tools to neutralize the disturbance or to enhance your own energy field.

2. Use Feng Shui to enhance your rearranging. The traditional Chinese art of Feng Shui studies the interaction of humans with their environment. Taken further, Feng Shui can allow you to influence these interacting energies to improve your life. Find out more about its principles and apply them to your living space.

~While the idea lacks a basis in science,[9] some people think that Feng Shui can specifically address geopathic stress. This is because they see the Earth’s resonance as the unifying force between Heaven’s chi (virtual) and Earth’s chi (actual). The Schumann Resonance, they think, allows feng shui remedies to work better.

3. Set up metal rods. A popular and simple method is to place metal rods at strategic points in your home or anywhere you suspect a geopathic disturbance in order to block or neutralize the distorted flow of energy. These points should be verified by dowsing. To make the method work, you’ll also have to know the flow of the earth lines.

Image titled Find True North Without a Compass Step 1
~The rods can be copper, brass, or steel. Some people also feel that they can use other objects to redirect the flow of the Earth’s energy, and resolve disturbances. Called “earth acupuncture,” this method involves placing things like leaves, crystals, flowers, or shells at strategic points.

4. Create a cork barrier. Some people think that oak trees mysteriously developed a natural resistance to geopathic stress. In particular, the bark of the cork oak is believed to be effective as a barrier. Try placing cork tiles under your affected bed, for example, to absorb the geopathic chaos. You should be able to do this on your own.

~Be aware that a cork barrier is not a permanent solution. You have only made a barrier. The basic energy disturbance is still there and will have to be resolved.

5. Invest in a new-age crystal. Buy a new crystal to shield yourself. Some people feel strongly about the healing and protective qualities of crystals, which they say protect you from geopathic stresses but also, through energy resonances in your own body and negative ions, can stimulate your immune system and change toxic energies into beneficial ones.

~Quartz or shungite crystals work great. Amethyst, zeolite, and tourmaline are great at generating negative ions from moisture in the air. Make sure to wear your crystal at all times.

6. Get rid of other sources of electromagnetic pollution. The world is filled with sources of electromagnetic pollution that can magnify geopathic stress. High tension power lines, satellite towers, electric poles, or circuit breakers all send out high and low frequency energy that may increase geopathic stress, as can everyday items like microwaves, cell phones, and wireless routers. Minimize your exposure to such devices.

~For instance, get rid of unneeded appliances. If you can’t, keep them unplugged when not in use.

At the request of a friend, I’ve been looking into a particular kind of quackery known as ‘geopathic stress’. Geopathic stress is a kind of mash-up between electrosmog, feng shui and dowsing (another phenomenon simply explained via the ideomotor effect). The basic idea is this: the Earth has a natural vibration, but things like underground watercourses, drainage pipes, underground tunnels and even simple geological faults distort this vibration. If the vibration is disturbed, and you’re standing (or sitting, or sleeping, or doing anything) above this distortion point, then your health and behaviour will be affected. Websites explaining geopathic stress have linked it to everything from road rage and child abuse to miscarriage, cot death, suicide and cancer. Others claim that you can find sources of stress in or around your house via dowsing, and fix it by moving your bed out of the way of the distortion field.

As a general rule of thumb, if someone tells you that a single factor or phenomenon can cause such a huge range of ailments, then it should ring an alarm bell in your mind. Claims about geopathic stress are no exception. Ask for evidence, and see whether there are any convincing research to back up the claim. “If you don’t believe that an advertiser can back up their claims, you can report them to the Advertising Standards Authority.” explains Laura Thomason, Project Leader for the Good Thinking Society. She adds, “Claims to treat cancer could be in breach of the Cancer Act (1939) and should be reported to Trading Standards.” There is some published data on the alleged phenomenon in the research literature, but it crops up in journals like “Renewable Energy” or “Research in Complementary Medicine”. If this was a well-researched phenomenon, you would expect to see a decent amount of data in a mainstream journal that focuses on medicine or biology - not squirrelled away in the engineering literature, or in an obscure alternative medicine journal.

Similarly, there doesn’t appear to be any robust research into what sort of biological mechanism might explain how a single phenomenon could account for such a wide range of medical and non-medical issues, and again nothing published in the medical literature. Some explanations appeal to the suggestion that because the vibrations occur at specific frequencies (around 7 Hz), then they may interfere with patterns of brain activity called alpha waves, which occur at about the same frequency. Alpha waves are associated with relaxed wakefulness, so you can imagine a scenario in which, due to constant disruption of these waves, a person may be unable to relax or sleep appropriately, which might in turn lead to a range of health problems.

However, that assumes that (a) geopathic stress exists, (b) it affects the brain, and in turn (c) can cause anything from road rage to cancer. Is there any evidence to back that up though? In short, no: there doesn’t appear to be any credible, peer-reviewed evidence. While I could find no randomised controlled trials on geopathic stress specifically, but there’s a useful comparison to be made to research into the effects of extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic fields. If vibrations from the Earth in the 7 Hz range are causing health problems, then it would make sense that other things that emit electromagnetic fields in a similar sort of frequency range might be trouble too. Thankfully, we do have some data in this area that might be helpful.

In 2005, the World Health Organisation assembled a task group to look at the effects (if any) of exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields on the development and incidence rates of a number of different diseases, most notably cancer. There are a number of take-home messages from the data. The first is, as I’ve already alluded to, that there are no known biological mechanisms through which low-level exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields could cause cancer. Reinforcing this idea, the evidence they review from epidemiological, animal and in vitro studies is similarly inconsistent and inconclusive. In other words, there’s no evidence to suggest that exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields has any impact on the development of cancer tumours, or incidence rates of things like childhood leukaemia. Similar negative findings were found for associations with depression and suicide, neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, and cardiovascular disease.

All in all, it seems unlikely that exposure to these sorts of low-frequency fields has any sort of notable effect on our health, and while the WHO data doesn’t directly refer to geopathic stress, the results seem similarly applicable. We’re surrounded by technology that emits these sorts of fields. If they’re not affecting us, then it doesn’t make sense to claim that similar sorts of frequencies emanating from the ground will have any sort of effect.

Unfortunately, despite the lack of evidence showing any sort of link between geopathic stress and cancer, there are a few people out there happy to assert that there is a connection. And as with any sort of evidence-free claims about esoteric factors that affect our health (I’m looking at you, astrology), the bogus information also comes along with the promise of devices that can help fix the issue. A number of websites sell devices that claim to neutralise geopathic stress and ‘electrosmog’, without any convincing explanation of what the mechanism of action is, nor any scientific evidence or medical trial data to show their efficacy. While they don’t specifically claim that these devices can cure cancer, the implication seems like an easy one to make, especially if you’re having concerns about your own health. Geopathic stress is linked to cancer; these devices can neutralise geopathic stress; you can make the final logical jump for yourself. “Misleading health claims can cause serious harm to vulnerable members of the public.” says Laura. “It is deeply worrying that people could be led to believe that such devices could treat or prevent life threatening medical conditions.”

So should we be worried about geopathic stress? No, and it’s irresponsible of people to claim a link between an unconfirmed phenomenon, and any sort of health issue. And a link with road rage? Especially ludicrous. I don’t know how people manage to convince themselves that these sorts of phenomena exist. I know it probably starts with a little bit of ignorant curiosity about the world; something happens, you don’t know why, and you need to find an answer. Sometimes it’s a really bad thing that happens – at least one website explained how the owner had lost a family member to cancer, and was investigating what the cause might have been. My heart goes out to people in that situation, but it also makes it all the more important not to resort to extraordinary explanations that are devoid of any scientific or medical evidence. If we do, not only do we end up deluding ourselves, but we risk irrevocably hurting others along the way. -- The Guardian.

Re-Balancing Negative Energy with Hado Counseling

Hado counseling device measures the body’s energy at Museflower Retreat & Spa Chiang Rai.

Haven't heard of Hado Counseling before? That's no surprise.
Hado is a fairly new contemporary holistic therapy that up till now was only available in Japanese language in Japan, where it originated.  Now for the first time, Museflower Retreat & Spa Chiang Rai is the world's first retreat and spa to offer Hado Counseling outside Japan in English. Hado counseling sessions are given by Museflower founder and owner Tania Ho.

Tania first heard about Hado counseling (called Hado Kaizen in Japanese) when she first tried it in Japan during a family holiday when her mother took her and her sisters to receive Hado counseling sessions.

Tania decided to get trained to become a Hado counselor because , "I wanted to offer something unique at Museflower Retreat and I didn't want to rely on other people. I had to look within myself and asked what I myself could offer."

"It was also the right timing. The Hado Kaizen program had always been only in Japanese, but in 2015 it was finally translated into English."

"One thing that I really like about the Hado program is that it can scan the energy of negative emotions. It can tell you what negative energy is in your body that you aren't even aware of !  The whole philosophy behind the Hado program is also very aligned with my own belief – that we must heal our own mind and emotions first as they are linked with our physical illnesses."

Here, a Q& A with Tania explains the what, how, and why of Hado Counseling:

What is Hado counseling?

Hado means resonance or vibration.  Every particle, sound, color, emotion, and microorganism carries its own Hado – its own energy frequency.

The Hado sessions use the Hado Kaizen (Improvement) Program, a computer program that scans and measures a person's bio-energetic state, and analyzes any negative vibrations that are affecting the person's health – whether it be vibrations of negative emotions, toxins and viruses, or unbalanced body areas.

After all the bio-energetic information is measured, a personalized Hado water is made by imprinting the specific positive vibrations to neutralize and balance out any negative vibrations in the client's energetic body.

How does a Hado counseling session heal people?

During the session, the client will need to give his/her full name and age. Then they will wear a sensor device that looks like a headset. We then start to scan the client's bio-energetic state of each body part, and the energy level is indicated with a score from 1 to 6 where 6 indicates low energy.

With the information we collected from the first scan, such as any unbalanced body areas and negative emotions, we then input this information into another system called Kazutama system (spirit of numbers) to measure the client's energetic state again to come up with Hado codes. These generated Hado codes are positive information that the client needs at that moment to neutralize any negative information stored in the body.

Negative information in this case represents any illness, toxins or virus, imbalances, or negative emotions in our body that are negatively affecting our health.

The Kazutama system will then imprint the positive information into water, thus creating what we called Hado Water. Hado water is a personalized vibrational (or energetic) remedy for the client to drink after the session, to help balance the body's energetic state.

How long does a Hado counseling session take and how does it feel?

A full Hado session usually takes about 2 hours which enables the Hado device to measure a person's bio-energetic state for three to four times. This is because in the first or second scan, sometimes some imbalances may not appear until later in the third or fourth scan.

During the session, most people will feel sleepy or nothing. Those who are sensitive to energy may feel the tingling session from the Hado device that is measuring their energetic state.
The healing effects during the session are present yet very subtle, as the Hado device would also send positive vibrations to the client.
One guest told me that after her two-hour session and once she drank her Hado water, she felt this heat rising from her lower abdominal area upwards.

What is Hado best suited for healing and who can benefit from it?

Hado counseling is suitable for all types of ailments and anyone can benefit from it.
As the Hado device and Hado water work on anenergetic level, sometimes guests may feel only subtle or no effects on the physical level. Like most vibrational remedies (such as homeopath and flower essence), it doesn’t mean that the Hado water has no effect.

On the other hand, some people may experience a healing crisis (like in detox) before feeling better again after drinking the Hado water. For example, when I received my first Hado counseling session in Japan, my Hado operator and later my Hado instructor, Mr. Oki, explained to me that I carried the vibration of having stomach inflammation problems in the future.  My own personalized Hado water was made, and I started drinking it after the session. The same evening my stomach started to feel heavy and I felt nauseous. I wasn't able to eat anything for dinner. Following that week I still felt a heavy sensation in my stomach but I kept on trusting and drinking the Hado water. About a week later, my stomach's heavy sensation was gone, and I felt better.
In general, it's best to clear of any expectations from Hado counseling or in fact any other types of holistic therapy.  When our minds and hearts are open then we will definitely be able to reap and see the benefits of the session.

Hado device and Hado operators also do not claim to diagnose or heal any illnesses or sickness.

Is one session enough or does it require a series of sessions to be effective?

One full session usually takes 2 hours, and it is already quite effective as the Hado water works to balance the body’s energy on the subconscious level. However, for those who would really like to improve their health condition, it’s also recommended to have another Hado counseling session after one and a half months for a series of four times over a period of 6 months.

Have you seen significant effects on clients who've tried Hado?

Most importantly it always begins with awareness. We are used to finding out what problems or imbalances we have only after we experience any pain or symptoms in our body. From the results of the Hado measurement, most people become aware of how their lifestyle choices impact their health. For example, if a potential illness is shown, it serves as a wake-up call for that person to take responsibility of their health, and they can choose to make changes to their lifestyle or not.

How much does a Hado session at MuseflowerRetreat cost?

A typical full session is 2 hours, and at Museflower Retreat & Spa we charge 3,600THB net including a bottle of Hado water. A shorter session is also available for people who just want to experience Hado counseling session as a demonstration. The demo session takes about 30 minutes and costs 1,200THB net which does not include Hado water.

For people who want to try Hado , what’s the best benefit they can get from having a Hado session?

The best benefit is to understand yourself more– what kind of negative emotions we may have, what kind of potential illnesses we may have in the futureand what kind of toxins and viruses are affecting our health energetically.

How have your guests responded to Hado counseling so far?

Here are some recent comments from Museflower guests –

“It was an interesting session as I had not heard about it. I went with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised how accurate it was about my current stage of life. The take-away for me was a gentle reminder to be grateful and love which are the foundation of many beliefs/ philosophy of life. The sharing from Tania on the action plans to enhance the well-being were good and simple." – Y.H.Y, Singapore, Dec 15

"I enjoyed it and some of the things that were revealed were quite accurate. I’m going to take into consideration the advice provided, especially the one on allowing emotions, as this is something that I sometimes struggle with."~ I.B, Romania, Dec 2015

” I experienced the Hado treatment for the first time with Tania. Tania explained clearly every step of the way. The device could detect a broad spectrum of areas while, Tania combined this with her intuitive gift to provide me a thorough reading. After drinking the Hado water, I felt more energized and less bloated. It definitely worked on me.” ~ M.C., Hong Kong, Mar 2016
“After the Hado session i feel emotionally happy because now I know what is missing in my body system. I learnt what my body and my mind want from me.  This Hado session made me realize that many symptoms or sickness that i get mainly start from my mind then the mind gives the signal to my body to get my attention to listen to my body. Now i feel more alert and more active. I don’t feel tired like I used to and feel i have more energy to exercise.Special thanks to Tania who gave me such an incredible Hado session."  ~ S.K, Thailand, Apr 2016

Says Tania, "Guests are usually quite amazed with what the Hado program can measure and the results are surprisingly accurate to them. It's also a great way to introduce the Message of Water to guests, where they can learn about how water can retain information and how powerful our words and thought forms can be.

Magnetized Water Benefits: People, Plants, & Animals

Magnetized Water
Benefits: People, Plants, & Animals

The H2O ENERGIZER Personal Use System makes any water more biofriendly—and therefore more bioavailable—to your cells. Omni Enviro’s magnetic resonance reduces and restructures
oversized water molecule clusters into smaller units, with six water molecules in each cluster. These hexagonal-shaped clusters are recognized by plant—and human—cells as biofriendly, which allows them easy passage into the cell structure. This fuller hydration, which delivers more oxygen and nutrients, allows
the body to operate at a higher state of efficiency and immunity.

Bioavailable water supports:
* Hydration of all cells and organs
* Immune system
* Body alkalinity
* Anti-aging
* Dissapation of toxic deposits within connective tissues
* Digestive, nervous, lymphatic, and urinary systems
* Liver and kidney function
* Appetite control, weight control, and metabolism
* Healthy skin and hair

A one-time investment in an H2O ENERGIZER Personal Water System provides ten years of healthy drinking water, as well as
more productive water for house plants. The money saved, convenience provided, and support for bodily functions makes the
H2O ENERGIZER the best health insurance you can buy for you and your family.

Your Body's pH

The pH of blood and body fluids must be balanced in order for the body's vital processes to function normally. Normal blood
pH has a very small window of acid/alkaline pH balance.

Blood pH must range between 7.35 and 7.45. This means that there is an adequate amount of oxygen in the blood. Any slight
decrease in pH will result in lower oxygen levels in the blood and, therefore, in the cells. Any drop in pH, no matter how
slight, is the beginning of a disease state and affects when we age and how we age.

What is the chemistry of water that determines acidity or alkalinity? Acidic water contains more H+ ions than OH- ions.
Electrons that compose water molecules are negatively polarized, which give them the ability to create the dynamic
environment of the molecule. When electrons are lost, the molecule loses its ability to keep its pH balance.

Water with more OH- ions is alkaline. When the ions in water are balanced, it is neutral water. There is overwhelming
evidence on why ion balance is critical to physical and emotional wellbeing of the body. If acidic minerals such as chlorine
are added to drinking water, the amount of H+ ions increases because the hydrogen atoms give electrons away to the acidic
minerals. Magnetic Water is effective in balancing and keeping electron stability in ions because of its abundance of
electrons.

Health Conditions:

HEART DISEASE AND STROKE
Magnetic water can be essential to help prevent clogging of arteries in the heart and brain.

INFECTION
Magnetic water may increase the efficiency of the immune system to combat infections and cancer cells.

ADDICTION
Magnetic water can help eliminate addictive urges for caffeine, alcohol, and some drugs.

DEPRESSION
Magnetic water helps the body naturally replenish its supply of the neurotransmitter serotonin.

LACK OF ENERGY
Magnetic water generates electrical and magnetic energy in every cell of the body, providing a natural power boost.

OSTEOPOROSIS
Magnetic water is an aid to strong bone formation.

LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA
Magnetic water normalizes the blood-manufacturing systems that can aid in the prevention of many forms of cancer.

ATTENTION DEFICIT

A well-hydrated brain is continually energized to imprint new information in its memory bank.

When you receive the funnel, if you can, drink 2 glasses of the magnetized structured water and immediately you will know why this is the best health investment a person can make. It's guaranteed for 10 years and will last for many many years beyond that.  This is a truly wonderful product and 1 of the few that will actually do what it claims.

Health Benefits
Water, which makes up over 70% of our body composition, is the most influential and vital component of our health, providing the body with the ability to maintain good health and prevent deterioration. However, this can only be achieved if the quality, content, and structure of the water meet the body’s requirements.

By magnetizing your water with our H2O Energizer Personal Use System, its molecules line up in a “+-+-“ sequence. This process changes the water’s properties, reducing its surface tension, reducing viscosity, increasing dissolvability, increasing permeability and increasing oxygen content, all of which makes its nutrients more readily available to our body. Water is then said to be “biologically alive”.

If we took two glasses of water from the same place in the same stream — one glass taken a thousand years ago, and the second glass, taken today after pollution has affected the stream’s properties — we would see a measurable difference in the two glasses. In the first glass, all the molecules would be in the right sequence: “+-+-”, “+-+-”. The second glass, would present a totally different picture because most of the water molecules would be in a chaotic order. This is due to massive amounts of pollution
caused by the last century’s worth of global industrialization and
technologies that interfere with the geomagnetic force of our planet.

Because of this pollution, and the chemicals and minerals that are added to our drinking water, the water in our homes,
available to us through our public, municipal systems, is “dead water”. We can endlessly attempt to filter and purify it, but we will never be able to make it biologically active, or “alive” without the use of hydrodynamic magnetic resonance.

Hydrodynamic Magnetic Resonance allows us to correct the properties of chaotic molecules found in our water today. After the
water is magnetized, the molecules immediately regroup themselves into strict rows and the water becomes biologically active.
The resulting health benefits are numerous.

After consuming magnetic water, our body receives enhanced energy and is more capable of fighting off diseases and our
immune system is strengthened.

Biologically Active Drinking Water Promotes Optimal Health. Experience the taste of good health and vitality.

FORTY SIX REASONS WHY YOUR BODY NEEDS MAGNETIZED WATER EVERYDAY

1. Without water, nothing lives.
2. Comparative shortage of water first suppresses and eventually kills some aspects of the body.
3. Water is the main source of energy – it is the “cash flow” of the body.
4. Water generates electrical and magnetic energy inside each and every cell of the body – it provides the power to live.
5. Water is the bonding adhesive in the architectural design of the cell structure.
6. Water prevents DNA damage and makes its repair mechanisms more efficient – less abnormal DNA is made.
7. Water increases greatly the efficiency of the immune system in the bone marrow, where the immune system is formed (all is
mechanisms) – including its efficiency against cancer.
8. Water is the main solvent for all foods, vitamins and minerals. It is used in the breakdown of food into smaller particles and
their  eventual metabolism and assimilation.
9. Water energizes food, and food particles are then able to supply the body with this energy during digestion. This is why food
without water has absolutely no energy value for the body.
10. Water increases the body’s rate of absorption of essential substances in food.
11. Water is used to transport all substances inside the body.
12. Water increases the efficiency of red blood cells in collecting oxygen in the lungs.
13. When water reaches a cell, it brings the cell oxygen and takes the waste gases to the lungs for disposal.
14. Water clears toxic waste from different parts of the body and takes it to the liver and kidneys for disposal.
15. Water is the main lubricant in the joint spaces and helps prevents arthritis and back pain.
16. Water is used in the spinal discs to make them “shock absorbing water cushions”.
17. Water is the best lubricating laxative and prevents constipation.
18. Water helps reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
19. Water prevents clogging of arteries in the heart and the brain.
20. Water is essential for the body’s cooling (sweat) and heating (electrical) systems.
21. Water gives us power and electrical energy for all brain functions, most particularly thinking.
22. Water is directly needed for the efficient manufacture of all neurotransmitters, including serotonin.
23. Water is directly needed for the production of all hormones made by the brain, including melatonin.
24. Water can help prevent attention deficit disorder in children and adults.
25. Water increases efficiency at work; it expands your attention span.
26. Water is a better pick-me-up than any other beverage in the world and it has no side effects.
27. Water helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
28. Water restores normal sleep rhythms.
29. Water helps reduce fatigue – it gives us the energy of youth.
30. Water makes the skin smoother and helps decrease the effects of aging.
31. Water gives luster and shine to the eyes.
32. Water helps prevent glaucoma.
33. Water normalizes the blood-manufacturing systems in the bone marrow – it helps prevent leukemia and lymphoma.
34. Water is absolutely vital for making the immune system more efficient in different regions to fight infections and cancer cells
where they are formed.
35. Water dilutes the blood and prevents it from clotting during circulation.
36. Water decreases premenstrual pains and hot flashes.
37. Water and heartbeats create the dilution and waves that keep things from sedimenting in the blood stream.
38. The human body has no stored water to draw on during dehydration. This is why you must drink regularly and throughout the day.
39. Dehydration prevents sex hormone production – one of the primary causes of impotence and loss of libido.
40. drinking water separates the sensations of thirst and hunger.
41. To lose weight, water is the best way to go – drink water on time and lose weight without much dieting. Also, you will not eat
excessively when you feel hungry but are in fact only thirsty for water.
42. Dehydration causes deposits of toxic sediments in the tissue spaces, joints, kidneys, liver, brain and skin. Water will clear these deposits.
43. Water reduces the incidence of morning sickness in pregnancy.
44. Water integrates mind and body functions. It increases ability to realize goals and purpose.
45. Water prevents the loss of memory as we age. It helps reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s
disease and Lou Gehrig’s disease.
46. Water helps reverse addictive urges, including those for caffeine, alcohol and some drugs.

What is Good Water?

It’s funny how one word can have so many different meanings. For example, when “good” is used to describe water, what are all the
possibilities of that meaning?

It could mean sweet tasting. Or it could mean soft. To many it could mean bottled. To some, it means you can see through it. To others, it’s an acceptable color of tan. Or brown.

At Omni Enviro, our starting point for “good” water means it actually enters the cellular structure of the plant or animal. Water that doesn’t hydrate, isn’t “good” water as far as we’re concerned.  After all, the number one reason for illness in all living things world-wide is dehydration.

Since hydration is the basis for cellular health and vigor, then that’s our starting point.  (We add a lot of other benefits that make “good” water the “best” water, but we’ll get to that in a minute.)

Here’s the hard part to swallow: A lot of sweet tasting, soft, bottled water doesn’t hydrate very well. Even if you can see through it. That’s because many of the water molecule clusters are too large to enter the cellular structure of the plant or animal.

Unfortunately, that sort of “good” water passes right by the cells.

But when water is processed through the hydrodynamic magnets of the Omni system, the oversized water molecule clusters are broken
down into miniscule units, with only six water molecules in each cluster. That incredibly small size is completely bioavailable to the
cellular structure, able to easily enter the cells and more fully hydrate. If the idea of water being broken down into clusters of six water molecules seems foreign to you, just look at a snowflake, the basic unit of frozen water. How many legs does a snowflake have? Six.

To try to give an idea of how small that is in comparison with typical, untreated water molecule clusters, it’s like comparing flour to sand.

Now, back to hydration. Full hydration balances typical negative elements that might be hiding out in the cells, making them nonfactors in terms of negative influence. Full hydration in plants creates healthier, more robust plants that produce greater yields and require less water, since every drop of Omni water hydration is capable of entering cells. In humans, full hydration means a boost in the immune system because of the speedier, more efficient delivery of nutrients and removal of toxins from those cells. It degasses chlorine, chloramine, and fluoride, making them non-interactive with the body. For all living things, this water breaks down minerals into smaller units and holds them in suspension, so they more effectively enter the cells.

Examples of animal health: Omni water reduced the mortality rate of chickens by 200-300%. It created larger litters of piglets that grew to maturity faster.

Examples of plant health: Omni water increased the yield on a test plot of spinach by 35%; provided 100 more boxes of sweet corn per acre (27% increase); produced increases of broccoli by 21%, lettuce by 24%, and 606 more melons per acre.

Now THAT’S “good” water.

And that’s why you don’t need as much of it to do a better job. It’s why we can guarantee a minimum 10% increase in yield for a
minimum of 10% less water used.

But Omni water gets even better than just “good.” It won’t allow scaling—and even removes scaling. It washes salts away from the root structure of the plant. It balances pH. And much more. The benefits go on and on. The bottom line? We deliver healthier, hydrating water.

That’s where “good” begins.

Magnetized Water Omni Enviro's proprietary Hydrodynamic Magnetic Resonance technology explained:

A water molecule consists of one oxygen and two hydrogens. Thus: H2O. Simply put, the oxygen act as a negative, while each hydrogen acts as a positive. Water molecules do not travel alone. They form clusters with other water molecules by the attraction of a positive hydrogen of one molecule to the negative oxygen of another. Water molecule clusters come in many sizes, depending on the number of water molecules involved.

In the case of water that has not been magnetically structured, the water molecule clusters are generally comprised of many water molecules that are loosely attracted. This loose and chaotic form of attraction allows for toxins and pollutants to travel inside the water molecule cluster.

As these water molecule clusters pass by the cell membrane, many of them are sloughed off because they are too large or because of the toxins contained, which the plant is programmed to reject. The smaller of these chaotic clusters will enter the cell, some carrying toxins with them. It requires a great deal of unstructured water to hydrate a plant.

Magnetic field, when applied to normal water, restructures the water molecules into very small water molecule clusters, each made up of six symmetrically organized molecules. This miniscule cluster is recognized by the cell as "bio-friendly" due to its hexagonal structure and because the toxins cannot travel within the cluster, and easily enters the passageways in plant and animal cell membranes. The result provides maximum, healthy hydration with less water.

Benefits of Magnetized Water

Benefits to Plants
Magnetic field further breaks down minerals into smaller particles making them more bio-available to the plant cells. The bottom line results are dramatic: maximum hydration of healthy water with greater uptake of minerals results in greater yields, larger and better end product, earlier maturation, longer shelf life, and healthier plants. It allows a reduction of amount of water needed, fertilizer and pesticides.

Since the magnetic structuring breaks all minerals into smaller particles, salt in the soil is broken down by the structured water, causing it to sink deep into the soil, away from plant roots, and wash away. The desalinization happens quickly over a season, creating much healthier plants, greater yields, and better final product.

Since the hexagonal water molecule cluster won't allow the bonding of minerals to it, magnetically structured water removes scaling from pipes and won't allow new scaling to take effect.

The Omni Enviro H2O ENERGIZER is a simple flange containing powerful, specific inductance magnet tubes that restructure the water and minerals passing through them into a more fulfilling and productive bio-available form.

Benefits to People

Many natural as well as man-made influences have affected the molecular structure of our water supply.

Environmental waste, toxins, and minerals – as well as chemical additives that treat our municipal water supply – combine to produce “dead water.”

You can try to filter and purify this water, but it cannot be biologically active without the application of magnetic resonance.

By improving the ability of our drinking water to dissolve compounds, we can increase its oxygen content. This enhancement, in turn, makes natural nutrients more readily available to our bodies.

In addition, Magnetized Water has increased alkalinity, which helps to regulate the body’s pH level.

Benefits to Our Environment
Finally, by safely and efficiently activating existing water supplies, we practice water conservation and environmental sustainability.

Magnetized water: pseudoscientific snake oil

Junk Science in the Marketplace

To a chemist, "magnetized water" is laughable nonsense, but to any number of Web-based hucksters, it is a bonanza— a wonderful opportunity to extract revenue from the notoriously science-challenged "alternative health" crowd. Even those who might have a high-school chemistry course in their past are liable to be taken in by some of the misleading hype and outright lies found on most of these quackery sites.

These nostrums are supposed to work all kinds of wonders from tuning up your immune system to raising your "energy levels", introducing anti-oxidants and slowing the ageing process. Many of the claims are identical with those made by hucksters of similarly worthless products such as ionized water and "clustered" waters. — and given the strong influence of mind on body (the placebo effect), it sometimes appears to work- for a while, at least!

A substance is magnetized when its constituent molecules or structural elements can be permanently aligned in a definite direction by the influence of an external magnetic field.

This can only happen in solids, and is known as ferromagnetism. Molecules that possess an odd number of electrons can be temporarily aligned by an applied magnetic field; such molecules are said to be paramagnetic. Water, H2O, contains 10 electrons, so it is not attracted to or oriented by a magnet. In fact water, like most molecules, is diamagnetic; it is actually repelled by a magnet, although so weakly that sensitive instruments are needed to observe this effect.

And contrary to what you may read on these hawker sites, the properties of water (surface tension, density, internal structure, chemical or biological behavior) are not measurably altered by treatment with a magnet.

Of course, someone who is mainly after your money will try to convey the false impression that a substance is magnetized by the simple act of putting a magnet near it. This can be true for ferromagnetic substances such as iron, but definitely not for water! This fact does not prevent the diffusion of garbage such as

"Researchers found when a permanent magnet is kept in contact with water for a considerable time; the water gets magnetically charged and acquires magnetic properties. Such magnetized water has its effect even on the human body when taken internally and regularly for a considerable period. " [link]

(One wonders how people who have not mastered the rudiments of sentence structure can be competent to reveal the mysteries of magnetism!) This same site lists some "reported health benefits" of magnetized water; who "reported" them is not stated, but you can be sure these are not in the reputable scientific literature:

>helps to regulate the movement of the bowels expelling all accumulations of poisonous matter.
>The use of magnetic water in urinary and kidney disorders has been documented.
>Magnetized water is also very beneficial for nervous disorders and treatment of blood pressure, especially low blood pressure.  It gives a soothing and slightly sedative effect to the nerves, aids in clearing clogged arteries, and normalizes the circulatory system.
>Magnetized water is effective in the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, colds, coughs and certain types of fevers.

Any number of sites offer cups and mugs that purport to magnetize water or other beverages placed in them. Some of my chemist colleagues buy them as jokes, but most of the sales are probably to poor suckers who actually fall for this stuff. And you can even buy a magnetic funnel to pour your drinks through!

"By holding purified water, fresh juice or herbal teas in the Magnetic Energy Cup for 5 minutes or more, your liquids become restructured, 'living' and charged with energy. The magnets in the Magnetic Energy Cup can change the actual structure of liquids, increase the negative ions (good ions), make the liquids more alkaline and increase the amount of oxygen available for your cells. Another measured benefit of magnetized water is that its surface tension is lowered, which makes the water absorbmuch easier through the human membranes. What actually happens is that water gains 'living' liquid energy!" [link]

Few companies offer a wider variety of nonsensical flapdoodle than this one that hawks "water jar magnets" made by an outfit that touts itself as "the international free energy company". The flakeyness implied by this description is reflected in their touting of "magnetic monopole" technology— something that physicists, who have been trying to find these hypothetical creatures for years, might be surprised to hear about.

A Canadian outfit makes the following unfounded and ridiculous claims about the benefits of drinking "magnetized water":

• Reduces acidity and helps to regulate the body's pH level.
• Influences the autonomic nervous system.
• Beneficial for kidney ailments, gout, obesity, and premature aging.
• Helpful in internal cleansing of the body.
• Promotes healing of wounds and open sores when bathed in FEMO2 water.
• Dissipates toxic deposits within the body's   connective tissues.
• The oxygen level in magnetically treated water is   higher than the oxygen level of untreated water.
• Has a therapeutic effect on the body, especially the digestive, nervous and urinary systems.
• Magnetically treated water improves the taste.
• When water is magnetized, the surface tension is reduced for better cell absorption.

A quackery website on Magnetized Water run by a Dr. Michael Lam is full of misinformation and absurd statements on this subject.

Here are a few examples of not-to-be-believed bunk from various sites, with the hype I consider false, misleading or meaningless indicated in color.

the bunk versus the science

the bunk:
Water is a molecule made up of atoms which all contain electrons. When we magnetize the water, all the electrons take on the same charge. Because like charges or poles repel each other, the molecules are pushed away from each other breaking up the associations into singular stasis known as molecularly mono-atomic. [link]

the science:
1.Electrons are always negatively charged, and this has nothing to do with magnetization, which does not occur with water.
2.There is no reason to believe this and no scientific evidence to support it.
3.This term is nonsense.

the bunk:
More hydroxyl (OH-) ions are created... Normal tap water has a pH level of about 7, whereas magnetized water can reach 7.8 pH after exposure to a 7000 gauss strength magnet for a long period of time.

the science:
This claim is at odds with one of the fundamental laws of physics, namely that electric charge is conserved. Water can only become alkaline if metal ions are present. This statment is a veiled attempt to appeal to the "alkaline water is good for you" crowd; see my IonBunk page for more on this quackery.

the bunk:
Natural magnetization is important to the human body because it increases cell stability. Unlike other, artificially magnetized mineral waters, Nariwa mineral water retains its magnetization permanently because it's been naturally magnetized from the start. The natural magnetization of Nariwa water allows its molecules to be more organized. This allows easy absorption by the cells in your body. This also makes it easier and more efficient for accumulated toxins to be flushed out.

the science:
This outfit sells a spring water claimed to be "naturally" magnetized, unlike all those inferior artificially magnetized waters. The site is full of misleading flapdoodle reminiscent of those profiles on my pages on water cluster quackery and debunking unbelievable Clustered Water™ claims.

the bunk:
Why you should try drinking biomagnetic water. Biomagnetized water is better able to penetrate your cell walls because it’s thinner, wetter, and more absorbable. Magnetic energy can be transported to every cell in your body by drinking biomagnetic water. Water is capable of being magnetized. Like oxygen, it’s paramagnetic, meaning that it holds a magnetic charge.

the science:
More pseudoscientific garbage. [link] Water is not paramagnetic and oxygen is not ferromagnetic. And millions of years of evolution have provided perfectly adequate means of transporting water molecules through cell walls.

the bunk:
It will be decades before the science of magnetized water is fully understood. Those in mainstream medicine may discount magnetized water "quackery". That in the forefront of magnetic research paints a different story. If one understands and accepts that each of our cells possesses a small magnetic field, as many research studies are now supporting, the logical conclusion that magnetic water has the ability to affect our cells must be taken seriously. [link]

the science:
This is a common refrain of all kinds of snake oil hucksters: conventional academic-based scientists are just too inbred and narrow minded to accept anything that is not in the textbooks. Please see my What is Pseudoscience page for a rebuttal of this misleading nonsense.

the bunk:
When water goes through a FEMO2 System its clusters become extremely small. This change occurs because the stainless steel chamber within the FEMO2 System creates a “left” spin that releases the energy needed to break down the hydrogen connections in water molecules, thereby making smaller water clusters. That spin changes the electron spin of the atoms, and these, in turn, cause physical changes in the water. The energy from that change is transferred to the person who drinks the water. [link]

the science:
Every sentence here is an outright lie! Water "clusters" are continually disappearing and re-forming. The concept of right and left "spin" in the context of H2O is nonsense. That these ficticious spin changes can release energy into the water, for subsequent transfer to the body, is absurd.

the bunk:
Many people question whether they should drink Negative Pole water or Positive Pole water.  Actually, both are important and each has its own particular benefits.  When water is magnetized, a charge value is put into the water.  This value is in the same range as that of the human body.  By drinking the charged water, it adds vitality to the body. the science:
These hucksters have come up with a new twist: north- and south-pole magnetized water! One has to admire their imagination! Many of these sites confuse N and S magnetic poles with positive and negative electric charge. Although magnetic monopoles are known to physics, you won't ever find them in water!

"Water is Paramagnetic …meaning that it holds a magnetic charge" is just one of many lies and misrepresentations to be found on sites that flog an elastic band containing several magnets that you are supposed to slip over a container of water, wine, milk, or juice in order to increase the "bioavailability" of the water– very similar to the equally nonsensical claims by the clusterquackpot merchants. To support these claims, they mis-cite a number of Nobel Prize winners and offer various references to the scientific literature which are incomplete or, in one case, do not appear to exist. To add to the hype, one can see pictures that purport to show how the "magnetized filtered water" increases the growth rate of plant, especially if the south magnetic poles face the water(!).
One health-quackery newsletter site attributes these claims to one Michael Pedersen, the president of Aquaspace Water Systems, laughably identified as "one of the world's foremost authorities on water" and a company called AquaSpace. To add to the hype, they have former astronaut Jim Lovell cheapening himself by endorsing their products.

Magnetized water is not confined to the quackery market!

>>here's a page that claims that "magnetized water" can improve the setting of concrete! Like many such poorly-documented (and highly unlikely) claims, these seem to originate in Russia, where anything seems to be possible!

>>A large collection of "scientific" references to "magnetized water" can be found here. With a few exceptions, most of these reports appear in obscure, non-peer-reviewed journals, suggesting that the effects they measure are minimal and are not readily replicable.

>>See Martin Chaplin's page Magnetic and Electric Effects on Water for some more reliable references.

>>A number of outfits (example) peddle magnetic devices for agricultural applications. And look here to see what MW has done for this guy's lemon tree!

For those who seek the ultimate in magnetized water pseudoscience,  features a mis-statement of fact in just about every paragraph; it appears that everything I learned in Physiology 100 is wrong!
