Natural Allergy Relief With the Water Cure

Common Sense, Evidence Based

Natural Health Solutions

Natural allergy relief may be sitting right in your cupboard. This may not work for everyone and it may not work for all kinds of allergies. However, it has worked for thousands who have tried it through the years. It is simple, easy, and sustainable.

  • What is Food Allergy

There are numerous facets to treating allergies naturally that we will not be able to cover. The most important take away, water cures works.
One of things modern medicine often fails to recognize is that allergies are often caused by chronic drought in the body. Once you correct the drought, you eliminate the allergy in many cases.
Histamine is another misunderstood substance in our bodies. Although science recognizes that it regulates the water stores in the body, they do not recognize it as one of the indicators of dehydration in the body. Understanding histamine will help you better understand your allergies and be able to take control of them.
What is perhaps most gratifying about sharing the water cures protocol with you, our visitor is that we know it works. We are not selling anything. We are not profiting. We are doing this to help better mankind and to help you, our neighbor. If this does help, could you pleas share your story and help others try the water cures protocol?

What is an Allergy: The (Wrong) Medical Viewpoint?

In the dictionary, the answer to 'what is an allergy' is defined as an immune response that causes injury as a result of exposure to a substance that is normally harmless such as pollen, animal fur dander, foods or dust for which some have become hypersensitive to.
For most people, the allergen does not cause any problem. For those who are allergic, the body treats the allergen like an enemy insurgent and responds with an all out military assault like immune response.
Before you go on, you should know that at WaterCures.org, we have a very different view of what is an allergy. Although there are no clinical trials (yet) to prove this, thousands have eliminated their allergies using the water cures protocols. We believe allergies are signs and symptoms of chronic and unintentional fluid and electrolyte imbalance. More on that below.
Our unconventional definition, the non-medical definition is that allergy is an indication of a drought in the body.

What is an Allergy? A Sign and Symptom of Dehydration!

At WaterCures.org, we believe the answer to what is an allergy is as Dr.B says, dehydration. It to be that simple. But first, back to the simplified medical explanation of what allergies are.

2 Classes of Allergies

There are two classes or distinct types of allergies. The two types are IgE allergens and non-IgE allergens.
With IgE allergens, your body makes way more IgE than you need when it comes in contact with something that it perceives as a threat (the allergen). Then the IgE, when traveling through the body and on finding the invading insurgent (allergen) is identified by one of your radar like mast cells, causes a defense mechanism, the allergic reaction.
The mast cells incidentally are in any part of our body that has exposure to the outside world. So, obviously they are in the skin and eyes. They are also present in the nasal cavities, throat, lungs and even our stomach and gut. When picking up the insurgent allergen, mast cells release a number of chemicals, including histamine as your body does an all out chemical warfare on the invading allergens. As with all war, the innocent suffer. In this case, the collateral damage is the cells in your body that did nothing but be there.
Depending on where the chemical warfare agent histamine is delivered, you will have various responses.

Histamine: Chemical Warfare in Your Body (Supposedly)

Because of the response of histamine, it is considered as a bad thing. It is as if the body has unleashed the weapon that produces numerous collateral casualties at the cellular level.
You should know that the histamine is in reality, your friend. It is your warning beacon that you have been invaded by an enemy insurgent that means to do you harm. It is screaming to you to do something to protect yourself. Before telling you what to do, first, consider the casualties.
These casualties include....
In your nose: itching, sneezing, runny nose.
In your eyes: itching, red irritated eyes,
In your skin: redness, hives, wheals.
In your respiratory tract: wheezing, dry unproductive coughing, shortness of breath. When it is severe, your throat may swell. Some have severe asthma, a decrease in blood pressure. Anaphylaxis can cause total respiratory shutdown and as such is life-threatening.
In your gut: nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Histamine has 28 or more functions that we know of. One is regulating the water and where it is stored in the body. Also it works with the nerves to help them do what they do. Research has shown that increasing hydration dilutes histamine and its effects, thus, water is the safest antihistamine known to man.
anything we use as a medication, there are side effects. Taking too much at one time can cause serious health problems. Inhaling it can cause sudden death.
The non-IgE allergy responses involve numerous cells that react abnormally when exposed to the allergen.
Some non-IgE caused allergies symptoms may appear after more time. These are more difficult to determine if the cause is allergic and what the allergen really is.

Make It Go Away.

The first treatment often suggested is avoidance of the offending allergen. This is of course very difficult for people who are allergic to pollen. Simply put, not breathing is not an option. Carrying around air tanks is too expensive for most although (Project Runway Spoiler Allert) it may become a chick fashion statement in the distant future.

The next treatment of choice is to alleviate the symptoms. This usually happens by using anti-histamines. Remember, histamine does a lot of different things. In your gut for instance, histamine helps make acid to aid digestion.
Antihistamines work by blocking the cells that act like receivers for the histamine. Think of them as an anti-chem or antidote to the chemical warfare agent, histamine and what it does in allergies.
One of the side effects is dry mouth. No wonder, since histamine helps regulate the water in the body.
Interesting Question: Why not make a histamine inhibitor? Actually a doctor invented one. It was put through a small clinical trial. The problem, it basically helped people become immune to the allergens over time and thus the product would no longer be needed (read: no long range profitability).
What if there was a better way?
For instance, did you know that simply eating the same food over and over could possibly make you sensitive and allergic to that food?
Do you know what foods are most likely to make you allergic?
When is a dairy allergy not really a dairy allergy? Spoiler alert! When you are sensitive to either the Bovine Growth Hormone or BGH (in almost all commercial milk but not Organic) or to antibiotics given to cows or both.

What is Allergy?

What is allergy? A sign and symptom of chronic fluid and electrolyte imbalance. This is not the typical answer that most would give. The medical establishment views allergy as an immune response to the exposure of a foreign substance. The lack of water or drought in the body is easily corrected with the water cures protocol.
To best understand why we at the Water Cures take a different view of this, it is necessary to understand what histamine is and does. Just like the answer to what is allergy, we take a different view of histamine than health care does. We view it as a friend.

The Histamine Paradigm Shift

What if we are looking at histamine in the wrong way? If we were wrong, would the way we go about treating allergies be wrong also? Too often, science says our bodies do things for no good reason. What if there was a good reason for the histamine release.
If our body does things for a reason, why undo histamine, in this case, using anti-histamines.
Just as pain can be good, providing a warning signal to prevent continued damage from using an injured part of our body, what if histamine was good? What if it was a warning signal. What if it was especially wrong when looking at the question, what is allergy?
Histamine release is your bodies way of saying that you have too much of something you cannot use and you do not have enough of what you need. Like the emergency lights and siren on a fire truck, the warning is sent loud and clear.
Histamine and its five helpers act to re-balance our bodies when they are out of balance. When we are experiencing a shortage in water, salt or potassium, they act to correct the imbalance. They also act to tell us that we are out of balance.
Histamine regulates the way the body stores water. It also regulates the salt, potassium and have numerous other functions. When we have an allergic reaction, the histamine response is the signal of not enough water.
Histamine is a good thing, something that can actually save our lives. When we consume more water, we do two things to correct the problem of an allergy attack. We dilute the histamine and we hydrate the body, which is what the histamine wants it to do anyway.

The Antihistamine Water

Water therefor acts as an antihistamine. It helps our bodies when we have too much histamine released. When it comes to the question, what is allergy, water is the solution.

The Antihistamine Salt

One of the best natural antihistamines is unprocessed sea salt. When you hear of the dangers of too much salt, you never hear about increasing water intake. Increasing water intake is the solution to any concerns you may have about salt intake. You should know that the salt that causes problems is common table salt and not sea salt.
If you should take too much salt in, your body will also release histamine. Histamine controls the water in your body. Too much salt is the call for more water, whether from inside or outside your body.
You will know that the histamine is released because of a runny nose or possibly congestion in your lungs and throat. Another sign and symptom is watery eyes. A simple solution for this is taking a pinch of salt in dissolving it on your tongue.
If you are eating foods rich in potassium or drinking fruit juices, you may also need some extra salt. If the fruit juices cause you to become congested, a pinch of salt will balance the potassium and you will be better sooner.
Don't swallow the salt. If you get too much, just let it stay on the tongue for a short time and then rinse or release it into a cup or napkin.
How serious is your salt intake? In the book, "ABC of Asthma, Allergies and Lupus" Dr. Batmanghelidj says we need to pay strict attention to our daily salt intake.
The pharmaceutical anti-histamines do not address the needs we have for water and salt. Rather than treating the underlying problem, they only hide the problem. They treat the symptom and not the dehydration.

The Safer Alternative to a Saline IV

Most people, on entering the hospital get an IV of normal saline. The first reason is make it easier for the administration certain fluids and drugs. The saline drips at a rate that allows the line into the vein to stay open. The second reason, and this is for many on admission, they are often dehydrated.
Dehydration is not something that can be quickly fixed. It may take from a few days to several days for the body to get back into balance. When disease is the result of the chronic dehydration, the time to correct the damage may take months or longer.

Isn't Salt Bad for Health?

For some, yes salt may be bad. If you have kidney disease or a sodium intolerance, then table salt should be avoided. Many who have a sodium intolerance are OK with Real Salt and Himalayan Salt. If you have these conditions, then the water cures should not be used unless under the supervision of a health care professional experienced with the water cures.

To manage the need for extra trips to the bathroom, one of the reasons elderly avoid drinking, use the water cures protocol. The salt helps keep the water in the body where it can do the most good. The excess of salt we get in our diet could easily be balanced by increasing our water intake.
Water on its own is a diuretic. Drinking water will help our body get rid of any excess salt. But, if you drink plain water and do not take enough salt, the salt you have will be pulled out and cause an imbalance. We need both salt and water to be healthy. When it comes to the answer for what is allergy, water and salt are the extended answer.

What is Allergy? It is Dehydration

When we have too much of an allergen, our bodies react by making histamine, the water regulator. When we dissolve salt and it gets into our system, we help the histamine to reapportion the water. When we drink water after taking the salt, we dilute the histamine and provide water for distribution. Thus, many have found that the allergies are relieved by using the water cures protocol.

Natural Antihistamine Decongestant

It's On Your Tap and In Your Cupboard

There is a natural antihistamine decongestant that can be found right in your cupboard and on your tap or water faucet.
It is water and or salt. The best salt is unprocessed sea salt. In a pinch, any should work. The best water is chlorine and fluoride free water. If you do not have kidney health issues or cognitive heart disease, then this treatment may provide a free solution to your problem.

A Natural Antihistamine Decongestant: How It Works

Histamine, a chemical in our body is released when there is a need to correct shortages of water, sodium chloride or potassium. The balance it helps our bodies attain is not a teeter totter, rather more like a balancing disk. Numerous factors account for balance in several different ways.
When the body gets water to correct the lack of water that brought on the release of histamine, water acts as antihistamine.
Likewise, histamine could be released as a result of a lack of sodium chloride. When we take sodium chloride in, it also acts like an antihistamine.

My Story: Life Saving Antihistamine H2O & NaCl

An extreme example of an allergic reaction is anaphylaxis. Normally the first aid for any allergic reaction is to take an antihistamine. In anaphylaxis, antihistamines take to long and are not considered an option. Epinephrine in the form of an epi pen is the rescue medication of choice.
There is only one major draw back with the Epi Pen. What if you don't have one. There are maybe only minutes and maybe seconds to save a life. Thousands die every year for the want of this lifesaving rescue medication.
Lets suppose that someone started to experience their throat swelling shut. What would be the first thing to do? Call 911 and the EMT on arriving would give epinephrine. The sooner you get it, the better the chances of survival. But, no matter where you are, there is a good chance the EMT is at an minimum of 15 minutes away. Then on arriving, they need to assess you. Add another minute or two.
If your breathing totally stopped, well, you would be dead in 3-5 minutes and a good 10 minutes before they arrived.
Note: people that know they have this problem carry an epi pen with them. I did not know my body would react to wassabi and so when eat5ing it, my body went into full respiratory arrest.
The thought process of "What should I do?" raced through my mind. As a vent trach nurse, this is my expertise.
At about 40 seconds into a lack of breathing, remembering that Dr. B's books say that salt and water are antihistamines, I tried the salt. Nothing happened. Then I put a few drips of water in my mouth. There was enough opening that I made the stridor sound that someone recognized and came to help. But I was already on the way to recovery. Taking another pinch of salt and another few drops of water in my mouth opened my airway completely. As far as I am concerned, the water cures saved my life. I was just at the point of passing out when I started to breathe.

More Salt Is Not Better

While water and salt are the best antihistamines according to Dr. Batmanghelidj, taking too much water and not enough salt can result in the release histamine. This will cause the water to act as a diuretic. While there may be situations when this is good, most of the time, it is not the most desired result.
Too much salt intake can also cause excess histamine to be released. This can cause runny nose or congestion in the throat or lungs and even nose bleeds. Sometimes the eyes can indicate histamine release. You may even notice your eyes getting watery.
If you are treating watery eyes, runny nose or congestion, simply put some salt on your tongue and see if the symptoms clear up immediately.
Since most foods have potassium in them, if you have the above symptoms when eating food, simply add salt . If you are eating food and have even one of the listed symptoms then you need to take some salt to balance the potassium. Just put some salt on your tongue and if it stops the symptom, then you know if this will work for you.
As an example, consider orange juice. OJ is loaded with potassium. However, without salt to balance it, our bodies do not and cannot use it. It is wasted. So if we are eating oranges or drinking orange juice and are deficient in sodium chloride, there will be a resulting histamine release to manage the problem.
According to Dr. B, we need about 1/8 tsp of salt (3/4 gram) for every 8 oz (250 cc) of orange juice in order for the potassium to be used by the cells in our body.
In the book, ABC of Asthma, Allergies and Lupus (page 149) Dr B Writes, "It is a good policy to add some salt to orange juice to balance the actions of sodium and potassium in maintaining the required volume of water inside and outside the cells."
Put another way, to get the optimal benefit from orange juice, just add salt.
In my youth when I moved to Colorado in a change of family also came a change in diet. My grandparents would put salt on watermelon, cantaloupe and honey dew melon. My family had European roots and this was a custom. Adding the salt not only accentuated the sweetness, it helped balance the potassium and sodium that went into my body.
Is it any wonder that on increasing my salt intake and salting my fruits, my childhood asthma disappeared. At WaterCures.org we have helped countless numbers of people end their asthma with this simple old European dietary change.

Liquids are Not Water

Fluids while containing water, do not have the same effect as water in our bodies.
A very famous commercial on a popular sports drink said it was absorbed faster than water. The reason they could make the claim was that the drink was fed through a tube that was inserted and went past the stomach to the jejunum. The reason it was absorbed faster than when water was inserted through the same tube was the electrolytes in the solution.
When water passes through the stomach, some of the old salt is washed through with it the water.
When we eat foods, a corresponding production of hydrochloric acid is produced in the stomach.
When we drink juices laden with sugars and or pulp, our bodies read those liquids as foods. When foods enter the stomach so does hydrochloric acid.
Water when consumed alone, does not cause the production of hydrochloric acid nor take the extra energy to be processed as with foods.
For this reason, we propose that there should be consideration for a change in the current nursing diagnoses from Fluid and Electrolyte Imbalance, a more correct diagnoses would be Water and Electrolyte Imbalance.
Fluid and Electrolyte Imbalance would more accurately reflect the human needs is the diagnoses was changed to be
Water and Electrolyte Imbalance
Coffee, tea, soda, sports drinks and energy drinks are not water and do not have the unique benefits that water provide for our bodies. But water alone is not enough. We also need salt. Both water and salt are essential.
Consider: What is the most basic protocol given to people entering the hospital. They are given a saline IV. Not coffee, not a sport drink and not a fruit juice drink. They are given a saline IV.
A One liter IV of saline 33.8 ounces of water and 9 grams (1 5/8th teaspoon) of salt.
In the hospital, they don't give a sports drink or energy drink IV, but a saline IV. Depending on what is wrong, sometimes they will also put some extra minerals (lactated ringers), vitamins and sometimes sugar (dextrose).
If you are experiencing a runny nose or have congestion in your throat or lungs. You can stop the need to clear your throat. All you need to do is take some salt.
There is no need to swallow the salt. Simply let it stay on your tongue for about 60 seconds then rinse it off or put it into a cup or napkin.
If on the other hand, the symptoms got worse with or appeared with the salt, you would need to take a glass of water and the symptoms should disappear.
Because the human body is so complicated and we each have our own unique balance, we need to find what our particular need at the time is.
For instance if I eat one piece of fruit a day and you do not, then my salt needs will be different than yours. Imagine the complication of the various nuance difference in all of our diets.
Everyone is different and our salt and water needs are uniquely different as well. What we present here is only a baseline to start your quest to better heath with.

Other Antihistamines

Commercial antihistamines may provide help for the symptoms but at what cost? Here are the side effects of over the counter antihistamines.
Drowsiness (some are designed to do this)
Fatigue
Headache: (this is the result of contraction of the blood vessels, called vasoconstriction). When the blood vessels in the brain become constricted, a headache can result.
Hypertension: If you have or are at risk of high blood pressure, this may increase blood pressure.
Difficulty in Focusing and Concentration: They can cause fuzzy thinking, drowsiness, blurry vision and dizziness.
Upset Stomach: Stomach cramps, upset stomach and acidity.
Slowing of Normal Body Functions: Because antihistamines

Antihistamine Side Effects on the Body

Anticholinergic antihistamines block the action of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This can result in the slowing of normal functions of some body systems, including urination.
Additionally, blurred vision, dizziness and constipation can occur.
A reduction in saliva causing dry mouth may also result.
Rarely antihistamine side effects can include irregular heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, tremors, seizures and decrease in visual acuity in people who have glaucoma.
What if there was a better way?

What If There Was A Better Way?

The Water Cures protocol is a viable option for how to manage the hydration of the body.
Plain water on its own can wash out the extra salt held in the body. Without taking enough salt, the water pulls the salt that is there out, causing an imbalance. This imbalance is what results in disease. The body needs both water and salt to stay healthy.

Consider this logically. Why do you get an IV in the hospital and at the same time doctors are saying we eat too much salt/sodium in our diet.
Why do we not hear that we need to drink more water rather than eating less salt.

Our health challenge:
We are not drinking enough plain water anymore. We have turned to commercial beverages.

Likewise consider how animals in the wild drink plain water and do not experience many of the diseases that afflict humans like obesity and cancer.
Further consider how sometimes dogs and cats lick humans' skin. This is to get extra salt, the salt they know they need but is lacking in their diet.
Put some salt in their water bowl and you will see big changes in your animal.
