What is your life in France like?
On a daily basis, life is filled with the daily
grind any working couple experiences.
During the week, we work, get our daily
exercise, I prepare dinner, my husband
cleans the dishes. We watch a little TV,
chill with the cat, then read while
snuggled in bed. Sleep. Same thing the
next day. Weekends usually consist of
running household errands, grocery
shopping, maybe I’ll do a little baking so
we have fresh bread for the week, and
laundry. And if we are lucky, we have
enough time and energy to go for a hike
or enjoy one the many beautiful
municipal parks that dot the city.
France has an excellent health care
system, which greatly contributes to a
higher quality of life. I have experienced
several health issues since our move
here, and am amazed at the price
difference. Most prescription
medications are free. I recently had to
have an x-ray of my left hip. The doctor
wanted a shot of my right hip for
comparison. I nervously thought, “How
much is this going to cost?” In total,
for two separate x-rays and
consultation…36 euros. we never have
to delay or avoid seeking necessary
medical care due to concerns for
our budget.
France also does an amazing job in
acknowledging the need for citizens to
have a healthy work-life balance. This is
backed up by public policy. Five weeks
paid vacation per year…for all salaried
employees. Most employees have at
least one hour off for lunch during the
workday. From my observation, folks
here seem less stressed than their
Singaporeancounterparts. I attribute
this to the multiple ways the culture
supports families and individuals.
On the negative side:
Groceries are becoming a bit more
expensive. However, I have read that
this is occurring everywhere.
I sometimes feel that my health concerns
are not always taken seriously because I
am a woman. When I have an
appointment for something serious, my
husband accompanies me. (Feeling like
we need to do this really pisses me off.)
Anything that requires the bureaucratic
process seems overly complex and to
take an extraordinary amount of time
to complete. (This is not just my opinion
as an expat …I hear the same gripe
from my French friends.)
And sometimes we do play tourists and
visit castles and fanta
The harsh reality is, those who cheer us
on when we achieve success will most
likely leave and not care when we are
in difficult times.
A graduate in Biology was having difficulty
in finding a job. He saw an advert in one
of the daily newspapers for a job at a
zoo.🗞️👀
In the interview, the manager told him
that their gorilla🦍, which had been a
tourists attraction has died so they
needed someone to dress up and
pretend as a gorilla🦍.
The graduate was embarrassed, but since
the salary was okay, he accepted the job.
The first day, he put on the gorilla skin and
entered the cage, he started jumping up
and down, beating his chest and roared
like a gorilla.
The next day, he put on a gorilla skin and
started moving around the zoo again and
mistakenly entered another cage and
found himself staring at a lion🦁. The lion
roared and rushed towards him.
The scared graduate quickly forgot
he is a gorilla and started shouting like
a human, 🗣️"Help! Help!" The lion leaped
onto him, knocked him to the ground
and whispered in his ear👂*Dennis*,
it's me Mike, your course mate."
My brother, No job in this country, Infact
that crocodile🐊 in that water is not a
crocodilie, it is John 😂😂😂😂
France might enter the war in Ukraine —
the hospitals are told to prepare for up
to 50,000 war casualties by March 2026.
That’s only 7 months from now, according
to a leaked July 18 Health Ministry memo.
Medical staging centers to be set up at
airports and seaports.
The personnel also will be getting extra
trauma and PTSD training.
France is getting ready to back up Ukraine
with real action — and Dmitry Medvedev,
Putin’s second in command in Russia’s
Security Council, is furious about it.
The two fraternal twins , Merz and Macron
are rare freaks. One thirsts for revenge.
The other, a rooster 🐔 , is afraid of the
'predator ' at the gate and is blackmailing
Trump with Putin. They have completely
forgotten the lessons of WW2. However,
things could end like they did in 1945 -
they took may end up being identified
by their teeth.
Medvedev should be taken seriously —
he’s a top Russian official. If Hegseth
or Rubio posted something like this,
the world would listen.
I believe that due to Putin’s failure to
agree to stop the war, the Europeans
are finally realizing they’d better put
the boots on the ground, to help
Ukraine win.
France is ready to help Ukraine to
liberate the territory occupied
by Russia.
About time.
