Your Spirit Man Was Built to Dominate — So Why Are You Being Dominated?

Chapter 1: The problem of reversed order

There is a sentence that exposes something most believers have never been able to name because you can develop spirit life until you dominate circumstances.

Read that again slowly. Not manage circumstances, not survive circumstances, not cope with circumstances. One difficult season at a time. Dominate them. That is the design. So why does your daily experience look nothing like that? Why does your mood, not the word, decide how your morning actually feels?

Why do your feelings carry more authority in your decisions than the quiet witness, Romans 8:14 says is supposed to lead you? Why does the pain in your body still shout louder than first Peter 2:24, even after you have confessed healing a 100 times? Something has gone wrong in the order. Not in your theology. Not in your salvation, not in your commitment to God. In the order, the specific God-designed creation established sequence in which you were built to function. The spirit leads, the soul follows, the body serves. And in the daily life of most believers, that order has been completely reversed. The body sets the agenda. The feelings govern the decisions. The reasoning faculties override the spirit's witness.

And the spirit man, the part of you specifically recreated at the new birth to be the dominant force in your life, is following

And we are going to diagnose precisely what has reversed that order. Name exactly what is dominating your spirit instead and walk through the specific reversal that restores it to the position it was always designed to occupy. This is not another devotional   encouragement to trust God more. This is a precise diagnosis of why the spirit man that was built to dominate is in your daily experience being dominated instead. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 gives us the exact design scripture itself describes. And the very God of peace sanctify you holy. And I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless. Spirit, soul, body, named in that order deliberately, not an arbitrary list, a sequence. The design in which the spirit recreated and indwelt by God himself was built to lead the soul and the body rather than be led by them. 1 Corinthians 2:14 tells us why this order matters so much. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Spiritually discerned, which means the governing center of accurate perception was never meant to be the senses or the reasoning mind. It was always meant to be the spirit. And a believer whose spirit is not leading is a believer trying to navigate life using the one faculty least equipped to interpret spiritual reality accurately. I said, "This tragedy is not that the order has been reversed. It is that most believers do not even know it has been reversed. They have lived under the domination of the soul and the senses for so long that it feels normal. It feels like Christianity itself.

Struggle, striving, the constant internal battle between what the word says and what the circumstances are reporting. But that was never the design. And between that design and the daily experience of the average believer is a specific diagnosible reversible condition. Today we name it precisely.

Genesis 1:26 gives us a glimpse of the original design before anything went wrong. And God said, "Let us make man in ...

Chapter 2: Identifying the dominators our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion. Dominion, not domination by the environment, governance over it. That was the design from the very beginning, stamped into the nature of the being God created and the new birth. Before we name what is doing the dominating, we need to understand what domination of the spirit man actually looks like in daily life.

Because most believers experience it constantly without recognizing it by name. You wake up and the first thing that sets the tone of your day is how you feel. Not what the word says, not what the indwelling one is communicating, how you feel, tired, anxious, hopeful, worried. The emotional state of the body and the soul claims the governing position before the spirit has even had a chance to speak. And the rest of the day flows from that emotional starting point rather than from the spirit's governing reality.

And it looks like this. A decision arises and the primary inputs you consult are your reasoning and your feelings. What makes sense to you, what feels right, what the people around you think, what your past experience suggests, and the inner witness of the spirit. The quiet knowing that Romans 8:14 describes as the primary way the Holy Spirit leads is either not consulted at all or is overridden by the louder vote of the reasoning faculties. It looks like this.

The Word says by his stripes you wee healed. The body says there is pain and the pain is louder than the word. Not because the Word is less true, because the sense report has been given more authority than the spirit's knowing of the word. And the governing response to the situation comes from the senses rather than from the spirit.  The average Christian today is carnal or sense ruled babes in Christ. They have never learned to develop the recreated spirit until it dominates circumstances.

And then he identifies precisely what is doing the dominating. Instead he calls it sense knowledge. The continuous relentless habitual rule of the five physical senses over the daily life of a believer whose inner man has never been developed enough to compete with what the senses are constantly broadcasting.

And since knowledge dominance is not a character flaw. It is not evidence of spiritual failure. It is simply the

result of a specific developmental deficit. The spirit man was not developed. And an undeveloped spirit man in a world that has been training the senses to lead since birth cannot assert its God-given dominance without deliberate consistent daily development.

2 Corinthians 5:7 gives us the scriptural standard that sense knowledge dominance directly contradicts. For we walk by faith, not by sight, not by sight, not by the body's report, the mind's analysis, or the circumstances claim to finality. By faith, by the spirit's knowing of what the word declares, regardless of what the senses are currently reporting. And the believer whose spirit has never been developed enough to compete with the senses walks the opposite verse bydefault by sight not by faith. Not because they have chosen unbelief because the undeveloped spirit simply cannot yet hold its ground against decades of practiced reinforced sensrained thinking. Think about how early this training actually starts.

From infancy, every human being is taught implicitly and explicitly to trust what can be seen, touched, measured, and felt as the primary definition of what is real. By the time a person is born again, often decades into that training, the senses have an enormous head start over a spirit that has existed in its recreated form for only a fraction of that time. This is not a reason for discouragement. It is a reason for precision. The spirit man is not weak. It is young in terms of its development relative to a sensrained mind and body that have been practicing their dominance for a lifetime. And what a young undeveloped faculty needs is not shame. It needs training.

Romans 12:2 confirms exactly where that training must happen. Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. Transformed not instantly through a renewing, a process repeated consistently that moves the mind from its sense defaults into alignment with what the spirit already knows. And this is exactly where diagnosis becomes so important because once you can name what is dominating your spirit man sense knowledge specifically you can begin the specific deliberate work of reversing it not in general precisely. Sense knowledge dominance is a single identifiable condition but it operates through three specific instruments three dominators each of which needs to be named clearly before any one of them can be reversed. That is exactly where we are headed next. Now let us name precisely what is dominating the spirit man because there are three specific dominators that I identify in the hidden man and each one needs to be recognized and reversed before the

Chapter 3: Understanding the three dominators spirit man can take its designed position of leadership. The first dominator is the sense ruled mind. The mind was designed to be the spirit's servant to process and express what the spirit receives from God. To take the wisdom and direction the inner man receives and translate it into practical decisions and actions in the physical world, spirit to soul to body, that is the designed order.

But a mind that has been educated exclusively by sense knowledge, that has been trained from birth to treat what the five senses seconds report as the primary measure of reality, becomes not the spirit's servant but its competitor. It generates its own assessment of every situation based on visible evidence. It produces its own wisdom based on accumulated experience. It arrives at its own conclusions based on what can be seen and measured and analyzed. And it presents those conclusions to the whole person as though they carry the same authority as what the spirit knows. And in the believer whose spirit has never been developed, the mind wins that competition every time. Not because it should, because it has been practicing longer. The mind has been operating as the governing voice since before the believer was ever born again. It has decades of practice leading and the spirit however recreated and however full of God's life is functionally new to the role of leader. An inexperienced leader will always initially yield to an

experienced follower who insists on leading and wise. The reversal begins with the practice. The consistent daily deliberate practice of feeding the spirit on the word until the spirit's voice is stronger and more familiar than the mind's analysis. Not by silencing the mind, by developing the spirit until its voice is louder. until the inner knowing the spirit carries is more immediately accessible in daily decisions than the reasoning the mind produces. The second dominator is the emotional body. I identify the emotions as one of the primary instruments through which the soul dominates the spirit in the average believer's daily life. Not because emotions are wrong. Emotions are a genuine and valuable dimension of the soul. But emotions were designed to be informed by the spirit and expressed through the body, not to govern the spirit, not to set the agenda for the inner man, not to determine what is true based on how something feels. But in the average believer, the emotions do exactly that. They feel fear and conclude the situation is dangerous.

They feel peace and conclude God approves. They feel doubt and conclude the promise is not reliable. They feel excitement and conclude the direction is right. And the spirit, however clear its witness, is overridden by the emotional report. Every single time the emotions are sufficiently activated.

1 John 3:20. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart and knoweth all things. The heart that condemns is the emotionally turbulent inner man measuring spiritual reality by how it feels rather than by what God actually says. And my prescription for emotional domination is the same as for mental domination, not the suppression of emotion. The development of the spirit until the spirit's knowing is more trusted and more immediately accessible than the emotional report.   until the believer can distinguish between what they feel and what the spirit knows and consistently choose to govern from the knowing rather than from the feeling. Think about how often these two dominators work together in an ordinary week. The mind produces an anxious analysis of a situation. The emotions respond to that analysis with fear and the fear in turn convinces the mind its anxious analysis was correct.

All along a closed loop feeding itself with no input from the spirit at any point in the cycle. Breaking that loop does not require eliminating thought or suppressing feeling. It requires inserting the spirit's voice back into the sequence consistently until the loop includes a third party that neither the mind nor the emotions can simply override. Before we go on to the third dominator, I want to mention something built to help you break exactly this kind of loop through genuine daily fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Our secret place devotional, a 90-day practical journey with the Holy Spirit is now live and available.  Dot not more information about the spirit. consistent daily fellowship with him until his voice becomes familiar enough to actually compete with the mind and the emotions rather than being drowned out by them. The third dominator is circumstantial evidence.

This is perhaps the most pervasive and the most subtle of the three dominators.

Circumstances have a way of presenting themselves with an authority that feels absolute.

The bank statement says empty.

The medical report says serious. The relationship says broken. The opportunity says closed. And each of those circumstantial reports comes with an implicit claim to finality. This is reality. This is what is true. This is what you must govern your life from. And the spirit man that has not been developed to the point where the word is more real than the circumstance will accept that claim to finality. Will govern the confession from the circumstance. will let the visible determine the declaration will allow what can be seen to override what the spirit knows and the result is a believer whose life is shaped by circumstances rather than shaping them.

In new creation realities that the new creation was never designed to be governed by circumstances.

The design is a spirit man so thoroughly developed in the word, so consistently fed on covenant reality, so habitually leading the soul and the body that the circumstances it faces are subjects of the spirit's authority rather than governors of the spirit's reality.

2 Corinthians 4:18. We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. The temporal yielding to the eternal, the visible yielding to the invisible, the circumstance yielding to the spirit.

That is dominance. Three dominators now named clearly. The sense ruled mind, the emotional body, circumstantial evidence.

Each one operating through the same underlying mechanism, sense knowledge, dressed in three different disguises.

Chapter 4: The path to spiritual reversal

And now let us look at the specific reversal. How the spirit man moves from dominated to dominating. Not in a single dramatic encounter through a specific deliberate daily developmental process that I identifies with precision.

But the first step in the reversal is feeding the spirit before the dominators get their say.   The hidden man , the spirit must be fed consistently. The same requirement that applies to the body applies to the spirit. A starved spirit cannot lead. A fed spirit leads naturally. And the domination that most believers experience is largely a result of a spirit that has been consistently underfed while the soul and the senses have been consistently overfed. The reversal begins with the morning before the mind begins its analysis. Before the emotions respond to the day's demands, before the circumstances present their claims to authority, you feed the spirit. One verse meditated on, spoken slowly, personalized, dropped past the intellect into the inner man, not as a religious exercise, as the specific deliberate feeding of the organ that is designed to lead. And a consistently fed spirit over days and weeks and months of this daily practice grows in exactly the way I describe, stronger, more vocal, more capable of asserting its designed dominance over the soul and the body.

Mark 1:35 gives us Jesus's own pattern for this kind of deliberate first priority feeding. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed a great while before day. Before the demands of ministry, before the crowds, before anything else had the chance to claim that window, Jesus himself protected the first minutes of the day for exactly this purpose. Feeding the spirit before the dominators of an entire day's worth of ministry, pressure, and need had any opportunity to speak first. This is not incidental to one's effectiveness. It is foundational to it. A spirit man that leads an entire day of supernatural ministry, healing the sick, casting out demons, teaching with authority, does not arrive at that capacity by accident.

It arrives there because the spirit was fed deliberately before anything else got a vote. Think about the specific difference this makes in the actual texture of your own morning. The believer who checks their phone first, wakes into a day already shaped by notifications, headlines, and other people's demands before their own spirit has been given a single moment of priority. The believer who feeds their spirit first wakes into a day already anchored in covenant reality before any competing voice has had the chance to set the tone. Same morning, same demands waiting. Two entirely different starting points determined entirely by which voice got first position.

This is step one of the reversal. not complicated, not time consuming, but non-negotiable.

If the spirit man is ever going to develop the strength required to compete with and eventually dominate three dominators that have had a lifetime's head start.

The second step is acting on the spirit's witness before the dominators have a chance to override it.

This is the specific exercise that builds spirit dominance faster than anything else. And it requires what I call corresponding action. Every time the spirit gives a witness, every time there is an inner knowing about a direction or a decision, you act on it before the reasoning faculties have produced a competing analysis and before the emotions have produced a competing feeling. Not recklessly, not without wisdom, but immediately before the dominator gets its word in. Because the dominator's primary strategy is delay.

If it can get the believer to wait, to analyze, to weigh, to consult, to feel long enough, the spirit's witness gets buried under the accumulated weight of sense knowledge input. And another opportunity for spirit dominance becomes another instance of sense knowledge domination. Luke 16:10 gives us the scriptural principle behind why this matters so much. He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much. The spirit man that is consistently acted on even in small daily decisions grows in its capacity to lead. Its witness becomes more familiar.

Its voice becomes more distinct. Its authority over the soul and the body becomes more established. And over time the reversal occurs not dramatically cumulatively the spirit begins to lead by habit rather than by effort. And what was domination becomes what the design always intended dominance. The third step is maintaining the spirit's declaration through the dominators pressure. The dominators do not yield without resistance. And the specific test of whether the reversal is taking hold is what happens when the dominators push back. When the mind produces a competing analysis, when the emotions produce a competing feeling, when the circumstances produce a competing report, the spirit man that is growing in its dominance maintains its declaration through that pressure. Not by denying the competing input, by refusing to give it governing authority.

Hebrews 10:35, "Cast not away, therefore, your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward." The confidence is the spirit's declaration of what the Word says over the situation, and casting it away is allowing the dominator's pressure to override it. The reversal is complete when the spirit's confidence holds through the dominator's pressure, not perfectly, not without challenge, but consistently.

Chapter 5: Living from spirit dominance

The spirit leading, the soul following, the body serving, the designed order restored. Think about what this actually looks like in a specific ordinary moment of pressure.

The diagnosis arrives and the mind immediately begins calculating worst case outcomes. The spirit man that has been developed through steps one and two does not silence that calculation by force.

It simply does not hand the calculation governing authority over the confession. The mind can keep calculating.

The declaration by his stripes I was healed holds regardless. That is the difference between suppression and dominance. Suppression tries to stop the competing voice from speaking. Dominance lets it speak and simply does not let it govern. Three steps now complete.

Feeding the spirit before the dominators speak, acting on the witness before they can override it, and maintaining the declaration through whatever pressure they apply afterward. Together, these three steps are the specific practical

I identified, not willpower, development.

Father, I decree right now over every person reading and hearing this that their spirit man is being fed, obeyed, and maintained according to this three-fold pattern. I decree that Hebrews 10:35 is becoming their settled experience. Confidence held through pressure rather than confidence cast away by it in the name of Jesus Christ.

That is the complete reversal laid out in three deliberate steps. Not a theory anymore.

A specific daily practical pathway available to you starting with your very next morning. Now let me give you the complete picture of what a spirit man operating in its designed dominance actually looks like. Because the goal is not just the reversal of domination. It is the full expression of what the spirit man was designed to produce when it is finally leading as God intended.

In the hidden man that the believer whose spirit has been developed to the point of dominance has reached the place where faith is not something they manufacture. It is something they live from. Not straining to believe, simply knowing. The way a branch simply draws from the vine without effort because the connection is maintained.

The spirit is leading and the life flows from the spirit's leadership. The way water flows from a source without effort, without striving, without the constant internal battle that characterizes the dominated spirits experience. And in new creation realities,  the practical picture with equal precision. I say, "We are what we confess." And the believer whose spirit is dominant confesses from the spirit's knowing rather than from the senses report, not because they are ignoring reality.

Because the spirit's reality is more real to them than the senses report. The word has been eaten rather than just cataloged. The inner man has been developed rather than just educated. And the governing voice in every situation is the spirit's voice rather than the dominator's voice. John 15:5 gives us the exact picture I am drawing on.

Chapter 6: Practical steps for daily life

I am the vine. Ye are the branches. He that abideth in me and I in him. The same bringeth forth much fruit. For without me ye can do nothing. Abiding, not straining. The branch does not manufacture its own fruit through effort. It simply remains connected and the fruit is the natural result of the connection being maintained. This is the normal Christian life as I understood it. Not the exceptional experience of the spiritually advanced.

The designed experience of every born-again believer who does the daily work of developing the inner man until it occupies the position it was always designed to occupy.

Spirit first, soul second, body third, dominance rather than domination. Think about how differently an entire life unfolds lived from that order compared to the reversed one. The believer whose spirit leads does not need every circumstance to improve before they can function in peace. They are not waiting for the diagnosis to change or the bank account to recover or the relationship to heal before their inner man settles. The settling happens first because the spirit not the circumstance is governing. And from that settled place, the believer engages whatever the circumstance actually requires with clarity. The dominated spirit never has access to. This is not a promise that circumstances stop being difficult. It is a promise that the difficulty stops being the governing authority over the believer's inner life. And that distinction lived out daily is the entire difference between the Christian life I described and the Christian life most believers have settled for.

Father, I decree right now over every person hearing this that they are moving from manufacturing faith through effort to living from faith through abiding according to John 15:5. I decree that the normal Christian life where spirit leading, soul following , body serving is becoming their daily settled experience in the name of Jesus Christ.

So here is your starting point. Three daily practices that begin the reversal immediately. First feed the spirit before the dominators speak every morning. One verse meditated on before the phone is checked, before the news is consumed, before the day's demands begin their broadcast. Not a long process, a deliberate one. The spirit gets fed first every morning. Second, act on the first clear inner witness you receive each day. Not the dramatic, the ordinary, the small leading, the quiet, knowing about one ordinary daily decision. act on it before the mind produces a competing analysis. One act of spirit obedience per day builds spirit dominance faster than any amount of theological study about the spirit.

Chapter 7: Conclusion and final decree

Third, when the dominators push back, maintain the declaration. When the mind says but what about and the emotions say

but I feel and the circumstances say but it looks like you hold the spirit's position not aggressively quietly firmly

with the settled certainty of a spirit man that knows its position is established not on sense evidence but on the word of God that does not change when the circumstances change. Father, I bring a final decree over every person receiving this teaching right now. I decree that these three practices are becoming their daily non-negotiable pattern. I decree that the reversal from domination to dominance is taking hold in their inner man day by day according to 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Now before you go, declare this out loud. Right where you are, my spirit man leads. Not a description of where you currently are. The declaration of the reversal you are choosing to build from this day forward. Go to the comments right now and type these exact words. My spirit man leads. These three practices maintained consistently reverse the order. Day by day, the spirit grows stronger, the dominators grow quieter, and the life God designed, the life of a spirit man leading, governing, dominating, gradually becomes the daily reality rather than the distant aspiration.

Understand what has actually shifted in you today. Not new information filed away with everything else you have heard about the inner man.

A precise diagnosis of why your spirit man built to dominate circumstances has instead been dominated by three specific nameable forces. The sense ruled mind, the emotional body, circumstantial evidence.

The order was reversed not by God's design but by a lifetime of untrained development. And the order can be restored not through willpower but through the same kind of deliberate daily development that reversed it in the first place.

Every believer who has ever walked in the kind of settled dominant spirit life this teaching describes did not arrive there through some rare encounter unavailable to ordinary Christians. They arrived there by doing exactly what this teaching has laid out. feeding the spirit before the dominators spoke, acting on the witness before they could override it, and maintaining the declaration through whatever pressure followed. Your spirit man was built to dominate, not someday, after enough theological study, today through the same three daily steps that are already available to you, starting with tomorrow's sunrise.
