Lord Jesus Christ shows us exactly how to fight the good fight of faith of God .
There's a reason faith doesn't come easily. It's not meant to.
True faith is forged in conflict. Every believer who has chosen to walk with God soon discovers that following Christ means entering a battle.
It is not a battle fought with physical weapons but with conviction.
It is the fight between truth and deception, the fight between surrender and pride, the fight between what the spirit in you wants and what the flesh of your body desires.
Fight the good fight of the faith of God. Contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints.
Contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints.
Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Faith then is not just a belief. It is a struggle for alignment with God's will.
The word fight reminds us that there is opposition, resistance, and pressure that must be overcome. You cannot live for God passively.
The world will try to pull you one way while the spirit leads you another way. There is constant struggle within you.
In Galatians 5:17, the Bible explains this clearly. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the spirit and the spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.
They are in conflict with each other so that you do not do whatever you want. This is the war that every Christian faces daily.
It is happening within you. One part of you wants to serve God wholeheartedly, while another part craves comfort, recognition, or sin.
When Jesus walked the earth, he showed us exactly how to fight this good fight of faith of God. Jesus Christ did not live by his own will, but live by the will of his Father.
He says, "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself. He can do only what he sees his father doing. Because whatever the father does, the son also does."
Jesus Christ lived in complete surrender. Every word he spoke and every miracle he performed flowed from his obedience to God's purpose.
And that is what the fight of faith is about. Learning to live by God's will, not living by our will.
It is about crucifying pride, dying to selfish desires, and choosing obedience over convenience.
Philippians 2:8 reminds us, "And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross."
If Jesus Christ himself walked that path of obedience, how much more should we, as his followers, walk it, too?
To fight the good fight of faith also means to walk in love. Jesus summarized the commandments this way :
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. and love your neighbour as yourself.
But loving others is often where the real fight begins. It is not always easy to love someone who has hurt you, lied to you, or let you down.
It is a fight to forgive when you've been betrayed. Remember to use the power of forgiveness in Christ to forgive and move forward.
It is a fight to stay kind. Let the goodness and kindness of God follow you all the days of your life journey.
Yet, that is exactly what Jesus calls us to do. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
The world expects retaliation, but faith of God responds with grace. Even in our private relationship with God, the fight continues.
It is a fight to stay consistent in prayer, to read the word of God when distractions abound, and to pursue holiness when the flesh inside you wants to drift.
It is a fight to trust God's plan when nothing seems to make sense. To believe God's promises when you can't see the outcome.
But that is where the good fight of faith of God is won.
Brother Paul understood this well. Near the end of his life, he wrote in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith."
Those are the words of someone who did not give up when things got hard. His faith was not just spoken, it was lived.
That is what God desires from you. Not perfection, but perseverance.
So, how do we fight? Not by our own strength, but by God's strength and God's faithfulness.
Ephesians 6:1 tells us, "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes."
You cannot fight spiritual battles with human power. You need the belt of truth, the shield of faith, the sword of the spirit, and the power of prayer.
Because the enemy does not take days off. He attacks your peace, your confidence, your identity.
But as first John 4:4 declares, "Greater is he (God) who is in you than he (devil) who is in the world." There will be times when the fight feels too heavy.
The trials will come and it may seem like your prayers are unheard. But even then, God is shaping you.
James 1:12 says, "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
The reward for your endurance is eternal. So, my friend, keep fighting the good fight of faith.
When fear rises, fight with using the scripture. It is written.
When doubt creeps in, fight with prayer. Pray without ceasing, pray about everything, about everyone, about every situation, every where, because prayer of the righteous in Christ avail much. The prayer of a righteous soul avails much.
When temptation calls, fight with truth. The truth will set you free.
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.
¹ O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
² Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conqu’rors we are!
³ His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
Run your race with endurance, knowing that what waits ahead is far greater than what you are facing now. And one day when you stand before the Lord, you'll be able to say, "I have fought the good fight of faith." I have finished the race. I have kept the faith of God.
And in that moment, every tear, every battle, and every burden will be worth it.
Now, let's take a moment to pray together. You are never alone in prayer.
🙏
Heavenly Father, there are moments when I feel like I have no fight left within me. The weight of life's struggles presses hard and my spirit feels weary.
But I know that you are close to the brokenhearted and you save those who are crushed in spirit. So l ask you now, Father, to breathe new strength into me.
You are the God who gives power to the faint and increases the strength of those who have no might. Your word in Isaiah 40: verses 29 -31 promises that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.
Lord, let that promise come alive in me. I thank you Father.
Fill me with courage today, Lord Jesus. I thank you, Lord. Give me strong fighting spirit that refuses to give up.
You help me to rise again even when l feel knocked down. You give me the determination to fight through distractions so I can spend time with you.
You help me carve out time in my day to pray, to seek your face, and to know you more deeply. Thank you , Father.
Because I know that apart from you, I have no strength of my own. You help me to fight against discouragement, Lord.
Sometimes the enemy uses doubt and disappointment to weaken my faith. But you have not given me a spirit of fear. You have given me a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind. I thank you very much, Lord.
You help me to remember that truth, and to hold tightly to your promises. You teach me how to fight unbelief with faith and to silence the lies of the enemy with your word.
When my mind is under attack, remind me of what you revealed in 2 Corinthians 10: verses 4 to 5, that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for pulling down strongholds. You help me to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.
Father, I pray for spiritual endurance. Life can feel like a battle that never ends, but I know that through your strength, I can keep standing. Amen. Thank you, Father.
I pray that you renew my energy and refresh my soul so that I can run the race you have set before me without growing weary. You are my strength and my portion forever.
Your word reminds me in Ephesians 6: verses 12 to 13, that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood (humans) but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand.
Lord, help me to live in that truth daily. Thank you Lord.
I don't want to fight with my own strength or my own logic. I want to stand clothed in your armor by faith of God.
In this fight, Father, I put my trust in you. No matter what comes from the kingdom of darkness, I know that you are greater.
I be still, and know that You Are God Almighty. Amen.
Some people may put their trust in horses and others trust in chariots, but I will trust in the name of the Lord my God. Amen.
You are faithful and true. You never forsake those who call upon your name.
You have been my shield, my deliverer, and my defender. And for that, I thank you.
Lord, help me not to shrink back in fear, but to stand firm in faith. Let me be bold in proclaiming the name of Jesus Christ, even when it's unpopular or costly.
You give me the courage to speak truth in love, to live with conviction, and to stand for righteousness even when others stand against me.
You said in Mark 16:15, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." You help me to live this out daily in how I treat others, how I forgive others, how I love others, and how I live with others.
Father, ignite a fire within my heart. Let a holy passion burn within me for your presence and your purposes.
You let my greatest desire be is to see your kingdom advance on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
You give me the zeal and power to declare your goodness everywhere I go. Amen. Thank you, Father.
You let me not be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes.
Lord, may I decrease so that you may increase in my life. Let every part of who I am point back to you. Amen.
You are the one who preserves, the one who protects and the one who never slumbers nor sleeps. You watch over me when I'm awake and when I rest. Amen.
You hold my future in your hands, and I am safe in you. Amen. Thank you, Father.
When the storms come, you help me to remember that you are still in control. Amen.
When fear tries to overwhelm me, you let your peace guard my heart and mind. Amen.
When l am tempted to quit, you remind me that I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me. Amen .
And when the battle feels too strong, you remind me that you, Lord, are my warrior, mighty in battle, and that victory is already secured through the blood of Jesus. Amen.
Thank you, Lord, for fighting for me, even when I don't see it.
Thank you for your mercy that lifts me every time I fall and for your grace that covers me when l'm weak.
You teach me to fight the good fight of faith today.
I bless your holy name, King Jesus, and I thank you for hearing this prayer.
In your precious and powerful name, Lord Jesus Christ I pray and believe I received, amen.
