According to Chinese medicine, the law of human growth is birth¹, growth², maturity³, old age⁴, and death⁵. There is no word for disease or death. In other words, if you live according to the thinking and requirements of Chinese medicine, follow the laws of nature, and improve clothing, food, housing, transportation, and entertainment, you can achieve a "disease-free" state without disease and live a healthy life. To use a word from the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine, it is "to live to the end of one's natural life and die after a hundred years."
"The best doctor does not treat the disease that has already occurred, but to treat the disease that has not yet occurred." Uncomfortable symptoms are the body reminding us to change our previous living habits. Symptoms have "come" and "go". According to the methods of Chinese medicine, it is normal to eliminate the causes of discomfort in time and achieve a disease-free life. And we must be the first person responsible for our own lives and take responsibility for our own health. Here, I will share my experience - the six principles of health and longevity with everyone.
1. A good attitude.
A good attitude is divided into three levels. First, self-improvement. Doing nothing all day, eating and drinking and waiting to die, that is not a good attitude. Do what you should do according to your age group. This is a good mentality. Young people learn, young people work and exercise, middle-aged people should be responsible, and the elderly should take care of themselves, learn, enjoy and teach. They should take health as their responsibility and not cause trouble to their families, the Party and society. Second, be kind to others and do not neglect small kindnesses. Third, be content and grateful. Fourth, feel at ease. Do anything that is worthy of your conscience and be able to sleep well.
2. High-quality sleep.
About 1/3 of a person's life is spent in sleep, so proper sleep is very important. First, avoid the wind. The bed should not be close to the door or window, but must be in the corner. The bedrooms of ancient emperors were very small, and their main purpose was to avoid the wind. Second, cover your belly. The Shenque point and Guanyuan point located in the abdomen are important points of the human body, where the human body's essence gathers and resides. Third, take a nap at noon. Zi refers to the Zi hour (11 to 1 at night); Wu refers to the Wu hour (11 to 1 during the day). The ancients believed that this time was the time when yin and yang rose and fell, and people should be quiet to adapt to this change in nature. It is especially important to be quiet at the Zi hour, so staying up late is more harmful to the body. Fourth, avoid lying down for a long time to hurt the qi. People who lie in bed for a long time and do not move will cause mental drowsiness and listlessness, causing the qi to be scattered and unable to condense. Over time, the qi will be scattered and unable to transform the spirit, and the spirit will be even more listless, and the spirit will be exhausted, forming a vicious cycle.
3. Defecate every day.
When consulting, I always ask the patient how the bowel movement is. If a person's bowel movement can be autonomous and normal, it is often more effective to prevent and treat other health problems. 5 to 7 o'clock every day is the season for the large intestine meridian, which is conducive to excretion. Massage the abdomen and lift the anus before defecation, which is beneficial to defecation.
4. Eat a reasonable diet.
Do five things: less, warmer, lighter, more vegetarian, and earlier. It is best to eat dinner before 8 o'clock, drink more porridge, quit smoking and limit alcohol, drink warm water, and avoid cold drinks.
5. Active activities.
Only active activities, not passive activities, can keep the body active. Under the premise of guaranteed water quality, it is recommended that you swim more; moderate brisk walking, jogging, Tai Chi, Five Animals Exercises, Gateball, Golf, etc. are all good exercises. It is recommended that after the age of 50, try not to play intense ball sports such as badminton and tennis, climb stairs less, and climb mountains less to avoid hurting the knee joints and causing inconvenience in lower limbs. People who sit in wheelchairs for a long time are rare in longevity.
6. Lifelong learning.
Learning is the foundation of changing yourself. Reciting in the morning and reciting silently in the evening, that is, reciting in the morning can stimulate yang energy, and reciting silently in the evening can avoid getting angry. Lifelong learning can help us understand life, our physical condition, the current social situation, and a comprehensive and objective understanding of our life patterns, so that we can have a good mentality and further ensure the quality of sleep, smooth bowel movements, healthy diet, and appropriate activities.
