Section II Common Illnesses

Section II Common Illnesses (Page 90 of 204)

“Where should I slap to self-heal ××× disease?”

This is the most frequently asked question. It reveals a mode of thinking typical in modern medicine: emphasis on getting rid of symptoms (the effect) and not the contributing factors (the cause). This mode of thinking is linear and compartmentalized, rather than holistic and systematic.

A basic concept of PaidaLajin self-healing method is, first of all, to
ignore the disease name. All diseases are complex diseases, i.e., blockages of multiple meridians. Even a mild cold, cough or fever indicates disorders of the immune system, and chronic diseases are aggregated manifestations of many illnesses, in other words, blockages of multiple meridians.

With a correct understanding of the self-healing philosophy, you can practice PaidaLajin in a systematic manner, and not just slap a certain region for the sake of curing a particular disease, unless, of course, it is to relieve acute pains and/or other acute symptoms.

Ancient Chinese classics Huang Di Nei Jing and Tao Te Ching provide theoretical guidelines for PaidaLajin. The philosophies of Yin-Yang interactions, the meridian system, and “action through inaction” stated in the two classics are indispensable for establishing an understanding of the self-healing philosophy and our summary of body regions to slap.

Beginners of PaidaLajin can first read the Journey to Self-Healing serials (in Chinese and English) on our websites. Hardback and paperback Chinese editions titled Journey to Cure were published in Taiwan and in the Chinese mainland. You can get a glimpse into Chinese medicine and Western medicine, and their respective history and cultural background; become acquainted with how I learned Chinese medicine; and refer to a meridians chart to compare the knowledge of Chinese medicine described in the book with the actual meridians and acupoints in your body.

Many disease names—diabetes, hypertension, for instance—are merely symptoms labelled according to a particular medical indicator. Thus, disease names can be quite misleading. Nonetheless, to facilitate inquiries and communication, disease names can be useful.

As diseases are complex and different diseases can manifest the same symptoms, descriptions in different parts of this book may overlap and seem repetitive. What is important is to understand that the nature of a disease is Yin-Yang imbalance caused by meridian blockages. The most essential task is to unblock the clogged meridians. Temporary exacerbation of certain symptoms during this process is a good thing, which we call “healing reactions”—the intertwining danger of a seeming decline in health offering an opportunity for thorough healing.

We receive steady requests asking us to disclose the secret of PaidaLajin for healing certain illnesses. But people will invariably find that the so-called “secret formula” is simple common sense. There is no secret at all. “The greatest way is the simplest.”

The following are brief recommendations on how to slap and stretch to relieve and self-heal common illnesses, followed by more detailed recommendations on self-healing certain diseases.

I    Common joint pains

Common joint pains include neck pain, shoulder pain, wrist pain, hand pain, lower back pain, leg pain, and ankle pain.

Our recommendation:

Slap directly on the affected area(s) for 15–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds. Always start with soft Paida and gradually slap harder. Normally, the greater the pain of Paida, the better the effect of healing will be. It hurts the most when the Sha is surfacing, after which the pain will become less intense. Continue Paida after Sha appears, and Sha will fade away faster.

For neck pain, slap on the affected area, the entire neck and the shoulders, and stretch on a Lajin bench. Another option is to practice the Wall Hitting exercise. [ From Mandarin translate to English. the steps:
1) stand 1.5 feet (your feet length) away from wall
2) breath in before u hit the wall
3) when you hit the wall, do not generate the voice from your throat but the 'hoh' shout should be the natural sound generated by your body when u hit the wall.
4) do not use your elbow to stand up but use your body back curve movement to stand up.
5) you may do these 100 - 1000 times/day to activate your chi.](see the video tutorial on the English website). Neck pain and headache felt during and after Wall Hitting are healing reactions indicating good healing effect.

For frozen shoulder, slap the front, back, left, right, upper and lower parts of the shoulders, including the armpits. Stretch on a Lajin bench, and do Lajin in standing posture. Do Paida and Lajin alternately.

For lower back and leg pains, stretch on a Lajin bench, and then slap on the affected areas, the back of the knees, and all around the knees.

For severe pain, Paida all around the legs. Do Paida and Lajin alternately.

For wrist and ankle pains, slap on the upper and lower parts of the
affected areas and all around them; In addition to PaidaLajin, it’s best to drink ginger and jujube tea to enhance the circulation of Qi and blood.

II   Common organ pains

Common organ pains include headache, toothache, belly pain,
stomachache, liver pain, gall bladder pain, and menstrual (period) pain.

Our recommendation:

Slap on major regions (acupoints) along relevant meridians by referring to a meridians chart. Because most people are unfamiliar with meridians and acupoints, it is more accurate and convenient to stimulate body parts, for each of them covers multiple meridians and acupoints. For more details, please refer to Chapter IV, Section I Acute Symptoms.

For headaches, slap on the pain spots on the head and then the entire head, neck, shoulders, inner elbows and the back of hands, and stretch on a Lajin bench.

For toothache, slap on the cheeks and mouth, Hegu acupoint, Zusanli acupoint, and the entire back of each hand, and stretch on a Lajin bench.

For belly pain and stomach ache, first slap on the Zusanli acupoint,
Neiguan acupoint, and the abdomen, and then do Lajin in a squatting posture, and stretch on a Lajin bench.

For liver and gall bladder pains, stretch on a Lajin bench, and slap along the inner and outer sides of each leg, Neiguan acupoint, and inner elbows.

For period pain, first stretch on a Lajin bench, then slap on the belly, the inner side of each thigh, and the groin areas.

Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.

In addition to PaidaLajin, it’s best to practice Wall Hitting, and drink ginger and jujube tea to enhance the circulation of Qi and blood.

III   Cold-induced fever, fatigue, headache and coughing

Our recommendation:

1. Slap on the inner elbows, the entire inner side of each arm, top and back of the head, Dazhui acupoint, neck, shoulders, and the back of the hands. In more severe cases, slap along the entire spine and the Urinary Bladder meridian on each side of the spine. You can use a hair dryer to warm up the regions before Paida, particularly the neck and Dazhui acupoint. Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and
for more rounds.

2. Drink ginger and jujube tea, and do warm-water foot baths; stretch on a Lajin bench.

3. Do the Wall Hitting exercise or meditative jogging for over half an hour.

IV   Problems with the five sense organs

Our recommendation:

Problems with the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, and other ENT (Ear Nose Throat) diseases are superficial symptoms of root causes in their respective internal organ. According to Chinese medicine, eye problems relate to the liver; ear and tooth problems relate to the kidneys; nose problems relate to the lungs; lip, cheek, and other muscle problems relate to the spleen; and tongue problems relate to the heart.

For ENT problems, first do Lajin, and Paida the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet) and all along the four limbs to clear blockages along meridians corresponding to their internal organs. Then slap on the entire head and face whichever facial organ is sick, because the meridians on the head and face are closely related and they form a “network.” Give the malfunctioning organ more slaps: for hearing problems, Paida the ears; for inflammation of the
mouth, slap directly on the mouth; for eye problems, Paida the eyes. Note that it is NOT advisable for people suffering from or with potential risk of retinal detachment. In actual practice, cover each eye with an entire palm and slap. Hence it is not the eyes but the eye sockets that are being slapped; for rhinitis, slap more on the forehead, cheeks, and inner elbows; for toothache, slap more on the mouth, cheeks, the back of hands, inner elbows, and Zusanli acupoint, particularly the Hegu acupoint on the back of hands; drink ginger and jujube tea and stretch on a Lajin bench.

The five sense organs on the head and face are related to the five internal organs (liver, heart, spleen, lungs, and kidneys). Slapping along meridians corresponding to these organs is very effective in healing diseases with the five sense organs. For instance, Paida on the Kidney meridian improves tinnitus and deafness; Paida on the Liver meridian and doing Lajin helps relieve eye problems because the Liver governs the tendons and opens into the eyes; and Paida on the Spleen meridian can heal problems with the mouth. You can find the corresponding meridians by referring to a meridians chart. Nonetheless, the simplest way is to slap the “universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet),” because they cover all meridians corresponding to the five internal organs. It is easy to slap on the elbows, hands and knees on your own. It may be more difficult to slap your own feet, so you may use a Paida tool or find a partner to slap with.

Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.

You can also practice neck Lajin: lie on your back, move your head off the edge of a Lajin bench or a bed, and let it hang down naturally. Do it for 5–60 minutes each session. More Qi and blood will flow to your head and face, thus healing related diseases, particularly evident for improving various eye diseases.

V   Skin diseases

Skin diseases are problems with internal organs that are manifested on the skin. Skin pain, sores, ulcers, allergy, itchiness, and dryness are the results of toxins excreted from internal organs. A worse condition would be an accumulation of the toxins remaining hidden in the body. Heart is the organ that affects skin diseases, and chronic diseases the most. In other words, all chronic and critical illnesses are manifestations of problems with the Heart.
Huang Di Nei Jing ( Yellow Emperor Medicine Bible) clearly states, “All pains, sores, and itchiness originate from the Heart.”

Our recommendation:

For common itchiness such as hives, eczema, psoriasis, mosquito and other insect bites, and other nameless itchy symptoms, slap on the affected area(s), the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet), and the inner side of each thigh; drink ginger and jujube tea, and stretch on a Lajin bench. For areas that are very itchy, slap heavily until there are colorful patches of Shareddish swelling, the skin breaks and toxic blood and fluids seep out. Continue
slapping on the same area for a while to allow more toxic blood and fluids to come out.

For other skin diseases such as dermatitis, neurodermatitis, allergic
contact dermatitis (ACD), hard and rough skin caused by drugs and chronic diseases, and various hard-to-diagnose skin diseases, treat them as problems with internal organs, particularly the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys. Slap on the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet) and the affected areas, and then slap all along the four limbs and the entire body. Having Sha
and red swelling skin are positive and natural reactions. If the skin breaks and blood and pus come out, continue slapping for a while to get rid of more toxic blood and fluids. Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.

Whatever the skin disease is, do more stretching on a Lajin bench,
gradually extending it to 60 minutes per leg each session. And it’s best to add a 5–10kg sandbag on each leg. Drink ginger and jujube tea daily.

VI   Gynecological disorders

Although the disease names may vary, gynecological disorders are mostly cold-induced, and are manifestations of blockages in meridians corresponding to major internal organs, particularly the heart, liver, spleen, and kidneys. Women with gynecological disorders mostly suffer from varying degrees of depression, including postnatal depression. The severity of depression  corresponds to the severity of disorders. The fundamental cause of depression is problems with the Heart, including negative feelings such as fear, grief, anger, hatred, or jealousy.

Common disease names include annexitis, infertility, adenomyosis,
ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, breast hyperplasia, prolapsed uterus, irregular menstruation, and menstrual pain, which are often accompanied by insomnia, depression, constipation, hair loss, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism, among other problems. Often, a woman can have several diseases simultaneously, for example, hyperthyroidism, breast tumor, and uterine fibroids.    Depression accompanies almost all gynecological disorders, though to varying degrees of severity.

Our recommendation:

Whichever of the above-mentioned diseases a woman has, first of all, stretch on a Lajin bench. Then slap on the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), all four limbs, the Baliao area (the upper middle part of the buttocks, also called sacrum), the entire head, the breasts, the armpits, the belly, the buttocks, and the groin areas. It’s best to slap all over the body. Focus most on the universal regions, the breasts, the belly, the buttocks, the Baliao area, and inner side of each thigh.

Paida on the breasts is beneficial in many ways. This is because nine major meridians and all systems of the body are closely related to the breasts. It diagnoses and self-heals mammary gland diseases and in fact all gynecological disorders, including problems with the womb and the ovaries, as well as immune and digestive disorders, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular diseases.

Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.

To get rid of vaginal itchiness, slap on the entire vagina and surrounding areas.

As gynecological disorders are mostly cold induced, drink ginger and jujube tea and do warm-water footbaths daily.

VII   Pediatric diseases

Children mainly suffer from such digestive and respiratory problems as cold, fever, eczema, coughing, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Our recommendation:

Whatever the disease name is, for a child less than one year old, pat along the entire spine for over half an hour. To relieve more severe symptoms, also pat the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), Zusanli acupoint, and all four limbs. For a child over one year old, also do stretching on a Lajin bench. Parents who know chiropractic massage can use it alternately with Paida.

Some moms use massage on their kids. The regions massaged can be patted as well. Compared with massage, Paida provides greater stimulation to the internal organs. Paida and massage can be used alternately.

Normally, the effect of Paida on a child is better than that on an adult, because the cause of a child’s illness is simpler, and normally there is more adequate Yang energy in a child; adults can suffer more psychological problems. Unlike an adult, a child will not judge PaidaLajin with their “knowledge.” He or she will fully absorb the energy from the slapper and stimulated within.

Pat softly most of the time. The intensity of Paida is not the key to healing pediatric diseases. What matters more is the “Heart”—love, focus, and confidence. Some moms do not see improvement after patting her child. This is primarily because she is anxious and irritated, does not pat long enough, and does not have full confidence in Paida.

Pat each region for 15–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.

In addition to Paida and massage, you can also use a hair dryer to blow warm air at a child’s illness-related regions until the skin gets red and hot. It helps to make Qi and blood flow more smoothly and brings doubled effect. You can regularly warm up a child’s entire body, particularly the back this way. It is very good for their health. A child may be frightened the first time you blow warm air at him or her. Stay calm and guide him or her to love the “toy.” You may    use the hair dryer to blow at yourself and make faces. Gradually, your child will get used to it. If you feel it is too noisy or have other concerns, you can use a warm water bag instead.

Paida and massage for common pediatric diseases:

1. Cold, fever, coughing, constipation, indigestion, pneumonia, sore throat, night crying, running nose, pediatric asthma, pediatric spit milk, inexplicable crying, and restlessness

If the symptoms are not severe, gently pat the child’s Dazhui acupoint, and then use a hair dryer to warm up Dazhui acupoint and the entire body. It is best to see Sha come out or see the skin get red and hot.

For fever, coughing, and other more severe symptoms, gently pat the child’s Dazhui acupoint and the entire spine. You can also use chiropractic manipulation along the child’s spine. In addition, warm up the child’s body with a hair dryer or a warm water bag. It is best to see Sha come out or see the skin get red and hot.

To relieve even more severe symptoms, pat the child’s universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), the chest and the back. Sometimes, fever can come back a second or even a third time. In these cases, stay calm and repeat the above actions.

Yongquan acupoint <click to see diagram)

2. Rashes, eczema, and other skin allergies

Pat directly, and warm up the affected areas and the entire spine. It is best to see Sha come out or see the skin get red and hot. If the condition does not improve afterward, also pat the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet).

3. Keeping your child healthy
Pat and massage the entire spine, Zusanli acupoint, and Yongquan
acupoint. Do it once or twice a day, massaging each acupoint for several minutes (5-7 minutes) or slapping an area for several minutes.

Please note:

1. Sometimes, a child can have a recurring fever. When the child’s
forehead is hot while the ears are cool, it is not a disease, but a physiological response. After the fever is gone, the child’s health will become better. Try Paida and massage therapies recommended here. Several sessions may be needed to get rid of recurring fever.

2. Many pediatric diseases are caused by excessive eating and drinking, and too many clothes on a child. We recommend less food intake or fasting when a child is sick, whatever the disease name or symptoms. When a child does not have a good appetite, do not force them to eat and drink more.

3. During PaidaLajin, such symptoms as fever and coughing can often relapse. These are normal healing reactions. Continue with PaidaLajin. For cold-induced cold and fever, drink some ginger and jujube tea.

VIII   Chronic diseases

All chronic diseases are complex diseases. That is to say, a chronic disease is an aggregated manifestation of several or dozens of underlying health problems. For instance, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, endocrine disorders, neurological disorders, problems with the liver, spleen, stomach, kidneys, large and small intestines. The disease names may vary, but they are
basically labels for particular symptoms. As long as new indicators are detected with medical instruments, more and more new disease names will be created.

Our recommendation:

Since they are complex diseases, this indicates problems with all internal organs and blockages of all 14 major meridians, though to varying degrees of severity. Whatever the disease name is, stretch on a Lajin bench, and slap the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), the entire head, all four limbs, and then slap all joints and regions of the body, such as the chest, back,
belly, groin areas, armpits, and buttocks.

During the process of PaidaLajin, it is best to fast for 3–4 days. People with weak Qi and blood can also try fasting. Drink some ginger and jujube tea to replenish Qi and blood in the meantime.

Some patients are unable to do PaidaLajin on their own. Family members, relatives, and friends can help them. Start with slapping on the inner elbows and the back of the hands, then the knees and feet, followed by the head, the belly, and the entire four limbs.

The duration of Paida differs from person to person. Normally, slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds. Slap one or several region(s) in a Paida session and slap all over the body in several sessions.

For a bed-ridden patient who cannot get on a Lajin bench, help lift up one leg to stretch. The stretching is effective as long as the patient feels sore, numb, painful, and swelling sensations. The duration of stretching varies with each individual’s physique and health condition. It can start with several seconds.
Gradually it can be extended to several minutes and longer.

When healing reactions occur, shorten the time and reduce the intensity of PaidaLajin, take some rest, and drink ginger and jujube tea.

IX   Rare and critical diseases

This category includes some so-called “incurable” diseases, such as AIDS, myasthenia gravis, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (AS), lupus erythematodes (LE), osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), and tobacco, drug, and alcohol addiction.

Although according to Western medicine, these diseases are disorders of almost all bodily systems including the immune, nervous, and digestive systems, they are in fact, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, just various manifestations of meridian blockages in the body. Unblocking meridian blockages heals. However, it can take a longer time to relieve the symptoms
and eventually heal these diseases. There can be visible improvements after one month’s PaidaLajin practice or even longer. Many patients stop medication after practicing PaidaLajin, and experience continual improvements. There are many testimonials of people improving or self-healing Alzheimer’s disease and
ONFH.

Our recommendation:

Because these are all chronic diseases, you can follow our
recommendation for self-healing chronic diseases, for example, Paida the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), the head, all four limbs, and the entire body for multiple rounds. Of course, there needs to be more emphasis on certain regions. For instance, for ankylosing spondylitis, stretch more and slap along the entire spine, and practice the Wall Hitting exercise to stimulate
the back and the entire spine. For ONFH, focus more on stretching on a Lajin bench and do waist swirling (swirl the waist in a horizontal circle to boost kidney energy, like doing a hoola hoop. See the video tutorial on our English website), Tie Qiang Gong (standing with nose close to wall, squat and stand up; see video tutorial on the English website), and slap on the affected areas. Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.

It should be noted that prolonged medication, particularly intake of
hormonal drugs, is very harmful to a patient’s health. It can lead to
drug-induced diseases and other iatrogenic diseases. You should consult with your doctor about reducing the dosage or stopping medication. Many patients have experienced better healing effects by practicing PaidaLajin after reducing the dosage or stopping medication.

In actual fact, many drugs do not cure diseases; instead they inhibit or cover up the symptoms, such as sedatives, painkillers, sleeping pills, etc. PaidaLajin does not involve the use of medicine. It directly activates the body’s self-healing mechanism, enabling it to manifest and get rid of existing and latent diseases. The self-healing mechanism does not “kill” the pathogenic substances in the body, instead it creates conditions for them to change their nature or exit the body. Healing reactions occur when the pathogenic substances are struggling, transforming, or being excreted.

In addition, most of the patients with rare and critical diseases have
undergone various treatments for years, but to no avail. Many have lost hope. They tend to be more vulnerable and more afraid of pain. They need more patient guidance and encouragement. And the intensity of PaidaLajin should be gradually increased. (Page 98 of 204)
